House was wonderful for a party of 4 older adults. Plenty of space. Although the home is located in a housing development the site is well planned and has the look and feel of being isolated. Owners were very helpful and easily available. We would stay there again.

The property does not come as depicted. It is tired and worn. It sits on a main road where the vehicle and motorcycles are whizzing by. Couldn't use the BBQ as both the primary and backup cannisters were void of fuel. The oven was filthy and the range partially works and has to be lit by hand. The owners operate a car rental business out of the property which means people show up at all hours to collect or return cars and this was not made aware to us in advance. This, in particular, made the ladies in our group very nervous.Need an engineering degree to operate the antiquated TV's. The landlady was very nice and tried her best to accommodate us but this was not what we signed up for.

This place was perfect for our family of 6 to stay at while we were in Kauai. We loved having the space to spread out a bit. Loved all the extras, like the beach equipment, and getting to know the chickens and roosters in the yard. Comfy beds, fully equipped kitchen, which was perfect for eating at home and packing up a cooler for our days out. Great communication with the owners as well. We were all really happy with our stay. We highly recommend this rental. This was our 2nd stay. It was so nice to feel like we were back again. Love the elevation and temps here. Get lost in this area and the scenery is very photo friendly. The house has every possible thing you need. The host are very responsive and a pleasure to communicate with. We enjoyed making breakfasts and feeding the chickens each morning. A very pretty and private backyard. We were gone most of the days and didn't use the tv etc. But enjoyed the nice neighborhood and spacious home - the chickens were vocal - but I think that's everywhere! We had everything we needed and didn't need to reach out to our host.

This was a great central location for fairly quick access to Kapaa, Poipu, and Hanalei. Enjoyed Lydgate Park for swimming and snorkeling, which was also just a short ten minute drive away. Would definitely stay here again.

The house is in a convenient location, equal distance from the north and south shores where our favorite beaches are. The area is private and quiet except for the resident rooster who we grew to like. I appreciated the cleanliness and comfort of the house and the excellent communication with the owners.

We love the neighborhood where this property is. Its 15 min or so from the main ring road but we use it as a central point to take our beach days to Hanalei, Poipu or stay on East Kauai. The home is spacious, and the neighborhood is relaxed and safe. There is no A/C but it was on the cooler side while we were there and that was fine. The beds are not very supportive so if you have an ongoing back issue as I did, beware--I ended up having to sleep on the couch.

The rainbow house was a great find. It is located up the hill in a residential neighborhood. A little more clouds/ rain than the coast but helps keep it cool. The enclosed patio was great for dinners and keeping ane eye on "Ray". Lots of room for everybody to spread out. Ideal for families with kids. Large yard.

We chose this place as it was centrally located on the island. The communication was excellent, the house had everything we could need and more. The beach chairs, noodles, beach towels were all a plus with our stay.
What I loved most about this property was the huge yard in a quiet neighborhood, close to hiking trails . There was a large lanai and the beds were like home comfortable. We were able to spread out, relax and had enough room to fit all of us. The photos honestly do not do this place justice.
One of the best things that I liked is I communicated with the host that I was allergic to a certain laundry soap and they not only accommodated me with the bedding and laundry, they also left the soap should I needed to do laundry (which we had to half way through). We were a family group of sisters, cousins and sister in law all 45+ in age. I would highly recommend and would stay here again and recommend to friends.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable week here. One very positive activity for us was walking on the Ridge Trail, which is only two miles up the road. This trail is not overused, as the Sleeping Mountain Trail is, and has job-dropping vistas of beautiful tropical forests and spectacular mountains.
We walked this three times while there, and each time had intense visual pleasure.
We also enjoyed sitting on the back lanaii, watching and listening to the beautiful bird calls, as well as watching the chicken families.
When we needed to get in touch with the owners, there were immediate helpfulresponses.
Altogether, a very positive week for us.

This property is breathtaking and the owners are absolutely lovely!! From the minute you arrive, you are surrounded by a lush, tropical oasis! The property is absolutely stunning! Everything was clean and we had everything we needed to feel at home. We absolutely LOVE the lanai, perfect place to enjoy meals together and watch the birds or the rain while staying dry. The chickens and roosters that come along each day and evening were a rare treat for the kids as the owners keep bird seed in the lanai to feed them. Close enough to town and shops but far enough from the beaten path to feel like you are staying in the rainforest. The owners had some fresh local fruits waiting for us and gave us the inside scoop to all the best excursions, beaches, restaurants and wonders on the island. Just minutes from waterfalls and the Wailua River, this house has it all!! I would give 10 stars if I could! We had a wonderful time and would love to come back again!

Perfect house for a family of five, including a one-year-old. Big backyard for the kids to run around and burn energy, TV room just for the kids to calm down, plenty of beds and space to not be on top of each other and big kitchen with everything you need! This house feels so welcoming and at home, we didn’t want to leave. Perfectly located in the middle of the island And central to all of the must sees! This house may not have an ocean view, but it makes up for it in every other element! Definitely worthy of coming back!!

Such a great location. Exploring the region revealed such breathtaking views. Wailua river from above especially. Nice to be in quiet residential neighborhood while on vacation. The home; not one problem. Super stocked kitchen. Beds were very comfortable. We were very pleased staying in Kapaa due to the fact we go to all sides and this was such a better choice for us. We like the beach but we go to Kauai for the green. Had fresh orange juice each day from the tree in back yard. Only 2 oranges for full glass, wow, so juicy. The rainbow eucalyptus is what attracted me, but the entire yard was beautiful. We can't thank you enough for making this available to us mainlanders. We love Kauai and all the kind people we meet while there, Ray the chicken included. And yes, if you keep him fed, he is much quiter.

We had a fantastic week staying in Rainbow house. The house has all the comforts of home nice floor plan and accommodations for our group of five. We enjoyed waking up with the chickens & rooster every morning and just watching them along with all the birds fluttering the beautiful back yard. My daughter loved walking across the street to feed the horse fruit. The neighborhood is in a beautiful serene area of the island. Very tropical and lush area of the island. This was our third visit to Kauai. Previously we’ve stayed on the north side and the south side. It was nice staying close to the Wailua river area, our personal favorite part of the island. The house has all the comforts of home along with beach toys, chairs, coolers, beach towels, etc. to make your stay even more enjoyable.

This place is beautiful. The house is big and comes equipped with so much stuff, from a fully loaded kitchen with all of the appliances, to beach chairs and Boogie boards in the box out front. Even though you’re not right on the beach, you still have amazing views of the mountains which are every bit as good. The beds were very comfortable, and the house was super clean. I highly recommend staying here.

My mother, sister, niece and I thoroughly enjoyed our week on Kauai, and choosing to stay at Rainbow House was a key component. We had previously stayed at time share properties in Princeville but chose VRBO after selling the timeshare. As a first time VRBO user, we did not know what to expect but now I’m concerned that no other property could ever match the location, comfort, and simple joy of staying at Rainbow House.
The location was perfect - we spent minimal time in traffic while the backyard made us feel miles from anyone. The decorating was exquisite - there was an eclectic collection of beautiful things wisely selected to make any person feel at home. The kitchen was very well equipped for those who love to cook. The screened in porch was perfect for eating and relaxing even though we were there when the trade winds were not blowing. The bedrooms were so comfortable that we all slept well from the very first night. And the chickens! Most comments say that the kids loved to feed Ray. I’m here to say that they could not have had more fun than my mother (age 92) and myself (age 64). Feeding the chickens was pure joy - just like everything else about Rainbow House.

This was our first family vacation in Kauai, as well as our first time booking through VRBO. The owners and property manager made us feel comfortable throughout the booking process and answered all of our questions incredibly fast.
We appreciated the cleanliness and feeling of being welcomed into the home when we arrived. We were greeted by personal notes here and there, along with a binder that contained information on places to visit, contact information, and information about the area.
The owners have clearly taken time to make this property a home filled with positivity, love, and tranquility, to be enjoyed by all who enter. Every room is tastefully decorated and extends a "welcome to our home" vibe throughout.
The lanai is amazing! We enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners there every day. The many birds, including the chickens and roosters, were a joy to feed and watch every morning and early evenings from that room. Ray Rooster is quite the show off!
The back yard is filled with amazing rainbow eucalyptus trees, flowers, and other amazing plants and fruit trees. I think each time I went in the back yard I discovered something new blooming or a plant I hadn't seen previously. Love this yard!
We would definitely recommend this home and location to those visiting Kauai, and we would love to stay here again in the future.

Beautiful, comfortable, relaxing. Our stay was an amazing retreat from the stress of everyday life! The house is only 4 miles from main Wailua... good proximity to restaurants, local beaches, and kayaking. The location is ideal for driving to either the north or south side of the island, as it resides pretty much in the middle. The enclosed lanai is a calm, enchanting place for meals at home. We spent many lazy mornings soaking in the sunshine and eating our homemade breakfast. With three bedrooms and a large common area, the residence very easily fit our group of seven. Also, good proximity to airport (~25 min).

You can't go wrong with this vacation rental. Quiet neighborhood location. Lots of room, big fully stocked kitchen, laundry room, the screened outdoor patio is awesome. We ate all of our meals in patio plus many hours just relaxing. Also appreciated the covered parking at front entry. It was nice to be able to load/unload during several heavy down pours. Shaun was very responsive, we couldn't locate picnic cooler and within a couple of hours one was at our doorstep. This rental was very clean and well maintained. Location is very central, cools off nicely in the evening because of the higher elevation. Bottom line... you will not find a nicer rental for a better price. Loved the mermaids!!!

We couldn't have chosen a better place to reunite with our family on Kauai. Having sleeping quarters at either end of the house made it easy for us adults to visit while our grandchildren napped or slept after a hard day of play in the beautiful back yard. Friendly greetings from neighbors made our daily walks so fun. Having access to a washer and dryer were a real bonus for us. We cooked in often and made good use of the kitchen and grill and patio. Wonderful. We highly recommend this. Shaun was very pleasant to work with and always got back to us quickly when we had questions.

Our family, spanning 3 generations and several households of 5 adults and 3 kids under the age of 10, had the most fabulous vacation while staying at this house. The house is extremely comfortable and spacious. Lots of rooms to escape to if you need some private time. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything that you could possibly need. The welcome basket was an unexpected touch that made everyone happy. The neighbourhood is very nice. The only thing missing is a pool but really, the beach is 20 minutes away so not a deal breaker. I would stay here again in a heart beat!

Worked well for three generations of our family (three couples + teenager). Everyone had their own space and the public spaces worked well. Wi-Fi was a big plus. An extra bath would have been helpful, but given that we were only there for a week, it wasn't too bad. The kitchen was very well equipped and served our needs of cooking at home. The farmer's markets around the island were amazing.
The listing description of the property is accurate. The photos reflected the amenities. The property is well maintained. The owners were most responsive. One thing we did not expect, but began to enjoy: be prepared to be woken up really early by the roosters that seem to be all over the island of Kauai! Recommend Josselin's restaurant in Poipu that the property owner suggested. The tapas servings were excellent and shareable. The chef Jean-Marie Josselin, was understanding of vegetarian needs. Surf lessons with Cliff of Tamba Surf Shop. Personable and didn't watch the clock.

This house was perfect for our family vacation! Large house with great layout. We especially liked having a nice kitchen to cook meals in when not eating out. Close to Lydgate beach, which is a wonderful family beach(great for little ones or kids who need to learn how to snorkel). Great backyard and the house had plenty of space for all of us. Nice to have Boogie Boards, chairs, towels and a cooler at our disposal for trips to the beaches. Perfect house for families--good location on island, close to lots of great beaches!!

The four of us enjoyed our stay in this lovely home! We spent most of our time ion the lanai, and I could not believe how restful and peaceful the house felt. We had everything we needed and more. The property photos and descriptions were accurate, and the property is clean and well maintained. The town of Kapaa is at the bottom of the hill, and there is everything from shopping and good restaurants available at your leisure. Some of the places we tried were Kauai Pasta(yum!), Mermaids is a small sit at a picnic table or take out restaurant this is very good, and I am picky. Also, at the bottom of the hill is a great place to grab a kayak or guided tour of the Fern Grotto, and Secret Falls. Kapaa is also pretty much in the middle of everything, and it takes just about the same time between North Shore, South Shore and the West Shore to get to the places you will want to see. The owners of this lovely home are friendly and very helpful answering questions. We highly recommend visiting this lovely home for a great Kauai visit!.

We stayed for 2 weeks at this wonderful home a few miles from the busy beaches on Kauai east shore. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood with more moisture since closer to the mountain. Nicely furnished home with interior open space and all the amenities.

I was amazed at how well this place accommodated two families. With eight of us running around, in and out, there was never a problem with parking, making meals, doing laundry, or even having a moment to oneself in the dining area, the living room, the back tv/bedroom/library, or any of the bedrooms. The beach is one thing but living up higher is lovely and DEAD QUIET. Plus you are close to the wilds, the amazing garden grounds of the nearby Monastery (no problems getting in on a tour because you don't have to reserve a place for your car). For the price and the quality and the flexibility of this big happy space I haven't found another place that pleases every person in a group as much as this.

My family of 6 loved this house. The lay out of the house is perfect for a family with kids. Plenty of space in the bedrooms and the separate tv room was very useful.
We decided to cook for a very large party. And the kitchen had everything we needed, that was great.
The kids loved the beautiful roosters in the back yard, the frogs in the front yard at night and feeding the goats across the street.
We cannot wait to go back, it's like a home away from home.

We stayed in this lovely home early January,it was just like the photos.great open kitchen with a gas range(hard to find in Hawaii),we spent most of our meals on the screened porch which had the feeling of being outdoors but protection from the sun and rain.There was plenty of space for everyone,and a few secret spots if you wanted a bit of privacy.We spent most of our time at the temple which is walking distance,an excellent location for pilgrimage,but beaches and restaurants are just a few minutes down the hill.The owners were great,making sure everything was in perfect condition on our arrival.We loved the house and would definitely stay here again.

Our family really enjoyed staying in this home! It is bright and comfortable with an open floor plan, large kitchen and lanai. Very nice layout with the master bedroom on one side of the house and two large bedrooms on the other side. Really loved the big kitchen and bathrooms, very nice quality.
We came to visit the Hindu monastery and the location could not be more ideal - walking distance! Just a short drive down the hill and we were at the beach. The setting was very peaceful and we will definitely be staying here again.
