We had a group of 6 college friends and the house was very accommodating for all of us. The location is fantastic with the beach and Kapaa town a short distance away. Linda was such a kind host who always greeted us with a big smile.

This house is located so the ocean is just a walk across the lawn and can be viewed from the living room and the large and well-furnished balcony.
The owners, Linda and Tom, were very kind and welcoming, and excellent hosts who live in their house on the same property.
The house is just one block from the main street through old town Kapaa, so you’re close to restaurants and small shops. Safeway is a short distance by car and very convenient for groceries.
The Ke Ala Hele Makalae bike/walking path is between the property and the beach. We enjoyed being able to walk the path everyday and see more of the beautiful scenery, and that included easy accessibility for a family member using a wheelchair. We also rented bikes one day and rode to the end of the path, which is about 9 miles round trip with very gradual uphill climb up, and downhill for most of the return. We’re in our 60’s and it took us 1.5 hours without rushing. We rented from the place just across the street, but there are several in town.
We would definitely return to this property again in the future!

This house was just what we needed for a multigenerational vacation. We absolutely loved it, and were torn between hanging out enjoy down time at the house and exploring the island. The hosts were super helpful and very kind. Wish we could have gotten to know them better, but island explorations were calling. Even the smallest of details in the garden, typed instructions, and selected artwork made this home a delight. We were grateful for this opportunity to stay in a comfortable home in a beautiful setting. We could not ask for a better location. If we can ever come back to Kauai, we will stay here.

We had high hopes from the photos that came with the listing and they were spot on. The location was perfect for access to anything on the island, especially the beach. What a great time. Check in and out was really easy. House was great. 2 floors with 2 separate sitting rooms. 3 bedrooms. 2 with queen beds and and 1 with 2 singles. You can sit on the upper deck and see the ocean. They had chairs, boogie boards, snorkeling gear and more to use at the beach. The beach is awesome. Perfect for swimming or snorkeling. The house is very private, but all the stores and anything you would need is only a 5 to10 min walk.

I truly love Kauai, and we have been so happy with this location. It is perfect for eating out, shopping, hiking, walking, biking, enjoying the beach and view, and going on excursions to the north and south. The house itself is very comfortable and truly a home, and Tom and Linda are gracious and friendly hosts. Be prepared for some early mornings with the chickens and street noise. It got us up to see the beautiful sunrise. We plan to return next year.

This home surpassed all of our expectations! We loved staying at Tom and Linda's beautiful Honu Hale Kai (Turtle House by the Sea), we only wished we had planned to stay longer than 3 days.
The home is located walking distance to everything including the beach (your own private entrance!), shops, restaurants, groceries, even Starbuck! The home itself is lovely with so many personal touches that make it so comfortable - and the layout worked perfectly for our 4 people, but it could accommodate more.
We took full advantage of the beautiful beach only steps away and also enjoyed many hours spent in our beautiful private garden and upstairs porch with a view of the ocean.
Tom and Linda were so wonderful and helpful and available if needed - we truly enjoyed getting to know you!
I know this home will be at the top of our list next time we come to Kauai, we'll just make sure we book for a much longer time. Mahalo!!!

Great 4 weeks on the beach in Kapaa Hawaii. Just steps to a sandy beach with sun, an ocean surf, and trade winds to keep it cool even in the 80s and 90s’ the house was walking distance to all the shops and Restaurants in Kapaa. The only negative was the noise at night of the hustle and bustle of Main Street (music from bars, sound of traffic and of course roosters crowing all day and night). Positives far outplayed the negatives

We've stayed here multiple times and enjoyed it every time. It's a great size house for our group of 3 couples, since we spend most of our time outside.
It's ideally located so that we can drive to any other part of the island in under an hour. It's also nice to be adjacent to a great walking path, walkable shops, restaurants, bars, and coffee--as well as just stones throw away from the ocean.

This was a perfect house for our group of 6, ages 16-49. Space for everybody, a wonderful balcony with views of the ocean, steps away from the beach and walking/riding path, great food within walking distance. Tom and Linda were wonderful and responsive to any questions we had. We will be back!

This is my third stay at, "The Turtle House," and it was wonderful. The location is great for a group bc you can share a rental car since everything is walking distance; shops, food, the beach, and shaved ice (of course). Tom and Linda share their Aloha, when it is welcomed...and we loved it! They brought us a pie on Thanksgiving Day and some delicious butter pears later in the week, which we cannot get on the mainland and THE WHOLE GROUP LOVED THEM! The house has towels, beach toys, and even some first aid supplies - as we are a clumsy group. My partner and I married just outside the home and the backdrop was beautiful and could never be recreated anywhere in the world as picture perfect 🥰 We will be back to the exact same rental ~ as there is nowhere better to rent on this island, as far as I am concerned. This well located house suited our family perfectly. We were three adults--Mom and kids. The house was spotless! There were many extras such as beach towels, boogie boards, beach chairs, etc. We loved walking to the beach anytime we wanted. It was so close that if your forget something, it takes only a minute to fetch it! The house is in the middle of Kapa'a town so there are town noises such as garbage collection and music from a bar (which stops around 10 pm). Earplugs and fans helped with that. But, the advantage of being on the East side of the island and being able to walk to the town in 2 minutes outweighed any very small inconveniences. Linda was a great, friendly host--there for questions, but not intrusive. I recommend this friendly home for anyone who is laid back and loves the location.

The property and surrounding area were both great! We were met upon arrival by the property manager who was very pleasant and welcoming. The house was a large beautiful two story home, very pleasant and accommodating for us and our three adult children. There’s a large wrap around balcony all around the second story where you can sit on patio furniture and take in the gorgeous view of the ocean. The area is quiet and relaxing, surrounded by gardens and trees with the sound of the wind and birds all around. The beach is a short walk away and there are plenty of beach chairs and accessories provided that you can carry out to make your beach time lots of fun. The property description and many positive reviews we found to be accurate. We found the kitchen to be well stocked with everything we needed to cook whatever food we brought as well as a large gas grill outside. There are stores and restaurants within walking distance for any food or personal items needed as well as a large Safeway not too far away to drive to. Overall a wonderful stay for us and our family. We hope to go back and enjoy staying here again in the future.

This is a little gem that I stumbled on to because someone else cancelled last minute. It is located in a great location in Kapaa, seconds from the beachfront path and almost a private beach, because although open to public not many people use it. It is one block off the main commercial drag and close to so many great places to eat. The house itself is spacious and comfortable with a full kitchen that has everything you'd need.
I would definitely stay here again if given the opportunity.

Tom and Linda were excellent hosts, the property was nicer than the pictures and is the perfect place for two couples looking to experience Kauai.
Walking distance to stores and restaurants, a stones throw from the beach, and centrally located to explore the north and west sides of the island by car.
Beach Chairs, umbrellas and water toys are available for use, as well as enough fans to create a mini tornado in your bedroom if you desire--like my girlfriend did, I'm sure Tom can attest to what my hair looked like--though they aren't needed because there is a wonderful breeze.
The hosts were excellent and made the check in/check out seamless.
Dont feed the chickens and the turtles dont bite.

We really enjoyed our week in Kapa'a and LOVED the location of this home. The beach it is on is great for swimming and boogie boarding, and it was great to have the use of boogie boards, chairs and umbrellas while we were there! We also enjoyed the walking path all along the water, which was accessed directly from the property. Tom and Linda were great hosts, providing us with bikes for a ride, and fixing the microwave that died on us the same day. Now that is wonderful service! We would love to return again!

The location is fantastic if you want to enjoy the sights and sounds of Kapaa. All you need to play at the beach can be found in the storage cabinet--sand toys, beach chairs, masks, snorkels, umbrellas, boogie boards, etc. The house has 2 living spaces so you can choose to relax in a quiet place or congregate with the family. We went to a public beach every morning and then could play in the water every afternoon in front of the house after some sightseeing around Kauai. Linda and Tom are wonderful hosts. If we get to return to Kauai in the future we would love to stay here again.

Thank you to our host, Tom and Linda Summers for making our time in Kapaa Kauai warm and inviting, with just the right touches. Our house was in a very convenient location. We stayed 10 nights in the “Turtle House by the Sea”, just 200 ft from the ocean, which had great sunrises!
First we were greeted by Tom, who showed us around the house. He also entertained us with his family’s fireworks show on New Years Eve!
Later we met Linda, and was pleased to here she recycles. Thanks Linda!

We loved the location and the overall decor of the house. There was enough room for 4 adults and one 3 year old. The kitchen is well equipped so we were able to cook meals when we chose to eat in. Every morning we packed beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, boogie boards, and coolers (all things found at the house) to take to a nearby beach. We went most often to Lydgate Park as it was the favorite of Grampa, Gramma, and the 3 year old. The afternoons were spent in various activities such exploring the island, snorkeling, walking or biking on the path in front of the house, walking to the farmers market and generally shopping, or taking a nap. But everyday in the late afternoon we were down on the beach in front of the house playing in the waves, digging in the sand, or just gazing at the ocean. Linda and Tom were perfect hosts making sure our stay was relaxing and fun. If we are fortunate enough to return to Kauai, we will hope to be able to stay here again.

My mother and I recently stayed in this lovely house. Having a living and kitchen area on both floors of the house was terrific and very handy for our different sleeping schedules! The house was clean, extremely comfortable, and felt like home the minute we walked in the door. We expected a lot of noise and traffic being right off the main street in Kapa'a, however we were pleasantly surprised how quiet it turned out to be. The ability to walk to coffee shops, restaurants, and stores was terrific! Being only a few seconds walk to a quaint beach was phenomenal. We spent lots of mornings and afternoons sitting out on the beach relaxing. The bicycle and walking path was very handy for my morning exercise regimen. It was a safe and great environment for a woman alone.. Tom and Linda were great hosts, not nosy, but always there for good morning greeting or for a quick chat. We've already recommended this home to friends of ours who are visiting the island next year. My mother and I plan on coming back and staying at this house in the future. This is one of the few places we've stayed that we have nothing negative to say about at all. Thank you to Tom and Linda for a great house to call our own for 2 weeks!

The house is in a great location - close to town for trinket shopping and restaurants and not far from any other activity you would want to do. The beach is just a hop, skip and jump away. This house is fully equipped with everything you need from the beach to the mountains. Our family of 5 was so comfortable in the home and in the surrounding neighborhood. It was a great location and we felt like we were "living" in the real Hawaii. Would definitely recommend this home and location for those who just want to relax and enjoy all that Kauai has to offer.

My family and I felt so spoiled at this house. We loved staying the week there. With 2 teenagers, we were able to all spread out and yet be together too. It was great to have 2 bathrooms to get ready quicker. Convenient to go both north and south on the island. Loved the balcony where we could sit and eat together while enjoying the ocean breezes. This house has everything you need. The owners are so kind. We would go back in a minute.
