Did not like having to pick up and drop off the house key. House is in major need of an update; ripped carpeting, old showers with hard to regulate water temperatures, old furnishings, and not enough fans. The best thing was the big front yard. We’ve used VRBO on 5 trips to Kauai and this is the first disappointing stay for us.

The house was in the perfect location for island adventuring. It was a bit warm during the day inside but the porch offered a continuous breeze and was our go to spot when relaxing. The beach and walking trail were a stone’s throw away. Lots of family memories made! Now having withdrawals from Wailau Shave Ice....the BEST!

The front yard was perfect for family gatherings, volleyball and soccer games. We had a full party of 8 and everyone had space, 3 private bathrooms, and a large functional kitchen. We had access to a washer and dryer which allowed us to stay on top of towels, bathing suits, etc. Great lawn chairs and beach accessories provided which was amazing. We had a fabulous time at this house and its close proximity to the beach was fantastic. Definitely would stay there again

We loved the central location! It made it so much easier to do activities all over the island. Grocery store right around the corner! Quiet neighborhood! A little warm without air conditioning but lots of fans and the breeze from the ocean made the nights comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

This house was perfect for exploring Kauai. Easy walk to the ocean. Fast drive to either side of the island. Plenty of hikes close by. Bike path is right there for biking, running or strolling. Down town Kapa'a is a close walk. Kitchen was very well stocked. Safeway is a close walk. There was plenty of room for all of use. 4 kids shared the upstairs room and the adults each had a room and bathroom. The ocean breeze keeps the house cool. The only thing I would change is a keyless entry so we wouldn't have had to pick up/drop off keys. But that is a very minor improvement. We had a magical week and I would go back and stay in the same spot over and over. Loved Kauai.

The property is a decent size, but looks larger in the photos. The kitchen has everything you need to make full meals. The foldout sofa downstairs has a note that due to rust it cannot be used, but there are still three bedrooms and a total of one king, two queens and two twin beds throughout the house. The pillows and mattresses are VERY firm. The shower in the master is smaller than I expected. The carpet needs to be replaced. There was food trash under the bed in the master. The sliding door in the kitchen does not open fully. That said, the place is spacious and beautiful and it is very close to the beach. You can see the ocean behind the house across the street, and right around the corner is the beach. However, the actual beach access point is at least a five minute walk down the street. There is a cement wall and rock barrier that restricts you from walking on the sand for at least a block. You may have to sleep with the windows open if you are used to central air, and you may need to pack ear plugs because Kauai is full of roosters that crow all day and night. The house is for sale, so I understand why not much is being spent on it, though. It's still on paradise and centrally located to a lot that Kauai has to offer. I'd stay there again.

We spent Thanksgiving at Hale Niu with our children and their spouses. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils and could use a few courtesy items like coffee filters, foil or spices. We played croquet on the front yard and did yoga. Danced under the moon and stars. Thanks for sharing this little Kapa’a gem!

We really enjoyed this property, not only is Kapa'a a great central location to the island making it easy to go north, south or west but it is small and pleasant. This house is spacious, clean and uncluttered. It may be dated a bit but it is clean and that is what matters. Most places are dated as it is hard and expensive to get materials to the islands. There are a couple of items needing to be fixed, like the sliding door and a couple of windows but these would not keep from renting again. Having 3 bedrooms w/ 3 bathrooms was key to having 6 adults in the house. The house stays very cool with the fans and louvered windows, being close to the shore allows a lot of cool ocean air to flow in. Having parking was a huge plus too. The home is up for sale, if it were to still be a rental we would look to use it again in the future.

Staying at Hale Niu was a great choice for its central location. The 3+ bedroom with 3 baths home was spotless and its size allowed all 5 of us adults to relax and stretch both in and outdoors. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked with dishes, pots and pans and dishwasher and the dining area was delightful. The huge lanai with table and reclining lounges was a favorite! We had a small view of the ocean but ocean access right across the street and beautiful sun rises. Even had a washer and dryer which was very helpful! We loved this home!

This house is in a great central location so one head to Hanalei (north shore) or out west to Waimea Canyon with ease. Close to lots of restaurants, food trucks, beaches and shopping. I loved that there was plenty of parking and no need to worry about finding a spot. Lovely neighborhood and friendly neighbors. The house was fully stocked with plenty kitchen equipment, towels and blankets. BBQ grill was very handy. We stayed with our adult children (& spouses) and having three bathrooms was wonderful. So close to the beach, we got up every morning and walked down to watch the sun rise. The rental company also left us some complimentary tote bags, cooler bags and welcome treats. Overall, we were very pleased and we rent this property again.

I felt the pictures made it look small, but to my surprise it was really big!!!
The beds were the worse!!! Spend some money on new mattresses. The neighbors to the back were loud and cursing a lot and my grand babies were with us. Dislike that very much .
Also ,didn’t feel comfortable in the area after reading the warning about burglaries in our area.

A very cozy place in a nice neighborhood just around the corner from a beach walk to town. Several choices of beach along the way, our family spent a lot of time on these. The town is a little funky but nice, great shave ice and poke. House itself could use a little fixing up but we’ll laid out with big yard in front of wide porch and wide kitchen area. The fans were just barely adequate to sleep at nite, house could get a little warm. The rental agency very easy to find and deal with, no hidden fees or runaround.

We rented Hale Niu an inter generational family vacation. This rental location was a perfect match for us. We had coffee every morning at the sea wall, a 2 minute walk from our house. Watch dolphins and whales every day. Walking distance to grocery stores and other shopping as needed. The walking/bike path along the sea wall was used every day for short and long walks. The home itself, although obviously a little older was clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped with dishes etc. It would have been nice to have perhaps have little things like salt and pepper. It was wonderful to have access to lawn chairs, snorkeling equipment, laundry and bbq. The large treed front yard gave us great privacy. KVR service was amazing. Prompt communication before and during our visit. The check in and check out was super easy and efficient. The bbq tank was empty but they were prompt in sending over someone to change it over. The location of Hale Niu was wonderful. Close to the water, and Kapaa is centrally located on the island. Everything on the island can be done on a short excursion.

Very comfortable house! Has one of the best equipped kitchens we've found in a vacation rental. Our group of 4 (my husband and I + our 2 twenty-something kids) found the location very convenient to explore the island or walk to town along the coast. Hale Nui was everything we were hoping it would be. Amazing location, great lanai, beautiful large lawn for the kids to run around under the palm trees, short walk to the beach, the perfect base from which to explore the north and south/west of the island. Photos are a little older and don’t reflect some newer amenities, so in some ways it’s even better than advertised. Hope to bring the gang back here soon!

First time staying on this side of the island. The location was great. Property description and Pictures are accurate. Although no A/C that did not bother us. Lots of breezes coming thru especially at night. We figured that it was because we were close to the ocean. Peekaboo ocean view. 1 block from local beach. Home located 1 mile from center of Kapaa Town. You can walk along bike/walking path that is parallel to the ocean to get to Kapaa Town. Beautiful and enjoyable walk. 1 mile to Coconut Marketplace in the other direction. Its walkable but along the highway. The home was perfect for our group. The porch and lawn were the favorite parts of the house. Plenty of room to spread out in the house as well. The kitchen was organized a bit odd but we worked with it. Towels galore and beach stuff too. Although the umbrella needs replacing. Everyone we spoke with at the property mgt were so friendly and helpful. It was great we did not have to have a large chore in the exit cleaning. Most places have such specific strict rules of remove bedding etc. This place was easy exit. We were amazed we did not have to run the dishwasher upon exiting or put bedding in bathtub. We would TOTALLY recommend this vacation rental! Families would love the lawn for kids to burn off energy and the beach being so close. Although there is no lifeguard, we feel it is safe enough. Our group was a Hula Halau on Retreat from Washington State and the lawn was perfect for practicing. We met a couple of the neighbors and they were welcoming and friendly and even enjoyed watching us practice. One even invited us to Kauai Beach Resort to listen to music as he is a musician there and invited us to do a impromptu dance there. Best breakfast= Kountry Kitchen. ( Go early as there is always a wait) Dinner=Lemongrass Grill.Shave Ice= Wailua Shave Ice. Safeway, Starbucks, Subway, McDonalds even Ross Dress for Less, in walking distance less than 10 minutes away. Mahalo Kauai Vacation Rentals. We loved it

This is a well used rental so don't expect resort perfection but it was clean and well stocked and we had everything we needed for a fabulous holiday. We were 5 adults and 2 children and the layout of the house was perfect for us. As the children are young, being within walking distance of a reef sheltered beach was ideal. We loved the town of Kapa'a and had a lot of fun renting bikes, shopping and exploring. We had a great time and have no regrets.

We were very pleased with this truly Hawaiian home. While not as slick and fancy as the newer condos available, it accommodated 7 family and friends very comfortably. It was also moderately priced. There was comfortable seating between the two dining areas, room to watch TV, for which we had no need, and an incredibly stocked kitchen, even for Thanksgiving cooking! We also were entertained by the various mother hens and chicks and other local birdlife. While the ocean views were very narrow, only 1/2 block away was the long walkway along the shore. Restaurants and shopping are within walking distance and everything we wanted to do was not far away.

This house has plenty of ocean breeze, A/C is not needed. We really enjoyed the lanai, kitchen, and the location. It is very close to the ocean and able to walk to it within a minute. We saw a beautiful and unforgettable sunrise one morning. The coconut trees in front of the house are also beautiful.There is a walking path for people and bicycle in front of the house. One morning we saw Santa was walking in front of the house. Apparently it is his walking route. The house is prefect for a family. Beach chairs, a cooler, beach umbrellas, and boogie boards were there for use. The kitchen is well equipped even with a high power blender, rice cooker, and crockpot.

We have stayed at Hale Niu 2 times in the past and have always been very happy with our stay. This time was a bit rough! The first few days we got several flea bites 😞 while inside the house. And some out in back yard. We NEVER let the cats inside or close to us at any time. Unfortunately we had issues with the propane going out on us and have it No stove, hot water or clothes dryer more than one time and for over 24hrs at a time!! Which was a bummer as we had meals all ready to cook both times😞 Lucy was super nice and tried her best to get things taken care of as fast as she could. Thank you 😊 things were just not as relaxing As far as house goes this time around. You guys are great and try to help as fast as possible, thank you for that. Josie Hard

I took my family on a bucket-list vacation- 2 grand daughters included. The house was an older, slightly funky, roomy home. We're the type of people who don't need luxury and refinements. Who vacations in Hawaii and spends much time inside when there's so much to do outside? Kapaa is a great area. A paved beach trail runs outside the house. The baby beach was a hit with my grand kids. The property management company was great, and stayed in constant contact about payment,check-in procedures, etc. If I owned a rental home I'd use them myself.

The location is fantastic - 20 minutes from the airport, a short stroll to restaurants or grocery stores, easy walk to a little kid-friendly beach (rocks break the waves and create a nice pool for little ones), a short drive to a life-guard beach for bigger kids and better swimmers, and about 30-45 min drive to boatings/SCUBA activities and 30 min drive to Princeville for shopping. Cute home. Well stocked kitchen - like it actually had tools for us to cook meals at home with! I would come back with the family again in a heart-beat. Great home!

We had great weather. We loved Kapaa, and that we were walking distance to so many places. The house was perfect for 4 adults and 4 kids. We loved the porch and enjoyed coffee every morning of there. A highlight was our Napali Coast snorkel cruise with Captain Andy's. We also participated in the Roots and Shoots 5K. We enjoyed an Easter egg hunt in the yard. The 6 year old loved searching for geckos! We loved our stay. Thank you!

8 of us rented this charming home for ten days. It fit our family with 3 younger kids well. As the photos show it has a tropical feel, comfortable, clean. It is a little dated but we were not paying for glitz. The front yard is huge and great for playing ball. At first we were concerned about no AC but it was fine. There are lots of fans and the breeze is wonderful. The laundry is great. That room has lots of sand toys, boogie boards, beach chairs etc. The kitchen is well equipped.
It is just across from the ocean. The beach is not for little kids. You are half way between Poipu in the South and Princeville in the north. Walking distance to shopping and restaurants. We all loved it and would go back. Great value.
