Our experience at Honua Kai was great. The resort is fantastic for families with young children. There are plenty of pools with shallow areas, the waterslide was a huge hit and being steps away from the beach was perfect.
The condo was clean and suitable for a family. The bed was comfortable and the blackout curtains helped our toddler sleep in. The one critique I have is that the playpen is not suitable for sleeping and needs replacing (the bottom board does not sit flat in the pen and pinches in the middle). The kitchen could also be stocked with more kid friendly utensils. This did not impact our trip and we were still very happy with how things went.
The communication with Ken was amazing, he was always so friendly and responsive.

Beautiful location. There was an open line of communication with the property management company, still it was a little much. We paid a cleaning fee, however they had other requirements that were a little above an beyond (signs in the unit, labels, a number of texts, very particular check out process). The no sunscreen in the unit was understandable, but some of the items were a little much when people are on vacation (and already paying a fee for cleaning).The overall Honua Kai property (not managed by the property management company) is in need of general maintenance and updates. It's a great area and has a nice proximity to a lot of fun in the Lahaina area.

Everything was great! Ken and Michelle were very communicative, the unit has a prime location next to the elevator for easy access, the mountain view was lovely and peaceful, and we found everything we needed in the unit. We would definitely come back for another family vacation.

This was our second stay @ Honua Kai. We booked a different unit last time through VRBO. Luckily for this trip, we planned well in advance so Ken’s place was available. The reason we ultimately booked here was hands down ALL of the amazingly positive reviews. When you’re booking through VRBO, it’s just as important to have a great/responsive host!
Everything was exactly as pictured/described. The view to the mountainside was INSANELY BEAUTIFUL! Love the quick access from parking garage up the elevator since this is in the main tower. Very quiet, clean, comfy unit with all the necessities. Having in-unit laundry is a huge plus.
As for Honua Kai in general - this is a perfect place for couples or families etc. The property is beautiful, pools are amazing, and having Duke’s on site is a plus for fun/easy food & drinks @ poolside or dining there. Being a VRBO guest made zero difference to ALL the Honua Kai staff from the bellmen to front desk, etc. - they were very attentive & helpful!
Ken/Michelle were very communicative and available whenever we messaged. We especially appreciated the required pre-arrival questionnaire. They truly want to ensure you have everything you’ll need! Thank you for sharing your amazing piece of paradise!

The condo had everything we needed for our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed watching the sunrise over the mountain each morning from the lanai. Our kids loved all of the pools on the property and the ability to go right out to the beach.

We arrived on a Monday and stayed through Saturday. The staff was super friendly. The host checked in and was readily available with any questions. There was also a condo manger that checked in to make sure our stay was going well and to reach out to see if we needed anything. The condo was a perfect size for me and my fiancé. Grounds are beautiful and clean! This is definitely a place we would stay again. Thank you for sharing your condo!

Loved this stay & condo.
Excellent free underground parking. Great amenities at the resort - the little coffee shop had everything we needed. Dukes was awesome for several of our dinners. Loved that we really didn’t need to leave the resort for anything at all.
The condo itself was clean, well maintained, and well appointed. SO convenient not to have to pack high chair or crib, since those were both available here. Loved the view facing out toward the hills, this was our first not-ocean-facing stay and that felt like it was going to be a compromise but actually it was great. Also since this is way up high we did have bird visitors to the patio but no other critters.
The pool was a ton of fun and the kid’s pool area and splash pad / water slide were special favorites for our family. That being said since the condo has multiple pools you really can’t go wrong.
This place was really perfect with our toddler but I’m sure would be great for other family formats / couples too.
Such a pleasant stay and we will definitely return.

My husband and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for our honeymoon! The place was very clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The view from the lanai was incredible. The resort itself was also perfect with the beach and snorkeling right next to it. I definitely recommend booking this place for your stay in Maui!

The ammenities of this property were priceless. We loved the pools, the bar, the proximity to the beaches. We even went on water slide. The view of the mountains every morning was breathtaking. We saw so many whales breaching as well right off shore! It was amazing. Will definitely be back

We’ve stayed at this resort before and always had a good experience. Our lanai has always faced the pool and ocean. When we were looking for a suite at Honua Kai, The pool/ocean suites were very booked up and prices were very high for the ones that were available. So we opted for the Mountain View. It was beautiful except we didn’t realize that there would be a lot of road noise from the highway, so we really didn’t use the lanai as much as we wanted to, and we didn’t feel connected to the rest of the resort. That being said it was a beautiful suite. Ken was great in communicating and accommodating our stay. They even through in extra cleaning at no charge.
So it depends on what you’re looking for, The price was great, the suite was clean and fully equipped. But if you’re looking for lanai living you may want to find something that doesn’t face the mountains, it was beautiful, but the road noise was pretty constant.

Honua Kai is an excellent location, its nearby to everything. The condo was comfortable and the owner provided excellent customer service. His unit provided alot of extra items than the usual ones I've rented before. This is super helpful and a cost savings.

If I could give more stars I would! Check in was so easy the bell hops were on it we didn’t even have to go to a front desk! The condo is actually in a really nice resort! Amazing restaurants and pools! Beach literally on property! Top floor great view of sunrise over the mountains! Super clean! Will definitely stay here again!!

I wish we could stay longer! The room was fantastic from a comfort / view / temperature standpoint, and the Honua Kai resort is a ton of fun. Be sure to show up to the pool early for a chair, because they fill up quick!

This is such a beautiful unit at a lovely resort. We arrived very late because of flight cancellations but the staff were welcoming and so helpful to get our young family into our unit. This property is stocked perfectly - anytime I thought to look for something I easily found it. We loved lunching on the balcony and making use of the beach/pool gear. The bed was very comfortable and everything was soooo quiet. We would have extended our stay had availability been available.
Ken and Michelle were so communicative and responsive. They make a great team and really made us feel welcome.
Slappy Cakes is a great breakfast restaurant within walking distance and we visited the nearby Food Truck park as well (arrive early! They run out of food before closing). We recommend choosing a grocery store other than Times Supermarket as we ended up accidentally purchasing bad produce and expired products. We made use of the beach walk to visit other resort restaurants and go to Whaler's Village and other snorkel spots.

Our family enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Great place with a comfortable bed and workable kitchen. We appreciated the beach chairs and cooler. Beautiful quiet Mountain View from the balcony and sliding door. The nearby elevator didn’t bother us at all and I can’t say we heard it while in the unit. The owner and the unit manager were checked in with us several times, although we had no need for their help. The property is very pretty and the pools are geared toward families with kids.

If I were to base this condo solely on my check-in process, I'd give zero 0 stars because it was awful but overall the condo and property are beautiful as pictured.
When putting the address into Apple and Google maps, it took us to the back owner entrance and we could not get in there. The onsite property manager was less than helpful in assisting and basically told us that the owner had given us good instructions so we needed to figure it out. Not a great solution when you're trying to find a place to check-in.

When I came to the bell desk where I was instructed to pick up keys, I was asked for my negative COVID19 test for me and all my guests. I was a bit frustrated for many reasons. 1. how do you think I got on the island without one? 2. I was not told prior to check-in that I would need to have these ready. 3. I had just been camping on the Road to Hana for 3 nights and had no idea where anything was.
She was unable to assist with providing WiFi either so I could look in my email for the virtual documentation. (My connection was very poor without WiFi in this location) After 30 minutes of dealing with this, I was eventually given our keys for check-in.
After that hassle, the condo was thankfully very close to the elevator and comfortable to relax. The bed was super comfortable and there's plenty of room to unpack and spread out (closet and dresser with lots of drawers). The kitchen and bathroom are stocked with everything you'll need. There are boogie boards and beach chairs (which are great for when you can't find a spot at the pool). The lanai was beautiful but in May a bit too hot to sit outside for breakfast, luckily there's a nice big dining room table and also Duke's downstairs has a decent brunch. The best part of this property is definitely the ocean views and the pools! There is a pool for everyone in your group from the lazy pool, kids pool, water slide -which BTW is not just for kids ;) and lots of BBQ grills for nights in.

I like the parking in the basement. The unit is close to Times Supermarket and L&L. About 0.2 miles away is McDonald’s and Maui Brewing Co. The unit is very quiet and the amenities are wonderful. The bed and the sofa bed were very comfortable.

First trip to Hawaii and this place was great. The unit is a condo in a resort. The property has access to the beach, pathways for walking, several pools, a couple of small stores, and a Dukes. I enjoyed Sup’ing, a morning walk along the beach, dinner at dukes, a day of swimming with served bar food, and a clean and comfortable unit with a beautiful veranda view. Loved our stay and only regret is it wasn’t longer. My last view was standing on the grass barefoot looking at the ocean and swaying palm trees. Aaaah! If you stay here you won’t regret.
