Lovely place and Anini beach is gorgeous

This property is away from the city. Great access to the quiet cove across the street and down the road just a bit. The House is charming but needs a good cleaning and some TLC. Would we stay again, yes but would plan our visit a bit different. Kitchen oven did not work, and the upstairs queen bed needs to be replaced. We made friends with the two geckos who live behind the fridge. Again a charming getaway, and very much island life.

Our first day in the property was a little rough we came up to the property with the house keepers fighting a swarms of wasps that were in the house. We talked with them and decided to come back in an hour by the time we got back they said they had killed all of the wasps but one which I was ok with wasn’t something I could t handle myself but shortly after they left I discovered there were still about 10 or more flying around the loft area of the house so I spent the first 2 hours upstairs chasing and killing wasps. I’m aware this is a rare situation bad timing really but the more concerning part was that I couldn’t get ahold of the property manager as they were traveling out of country and I was not aware that there sister had taken over so the numbers that I had at the time were not the sisters. It wasn’t till about 3 am that night that the owner responded to my Vrbo message and sent me the sisters contact and they claimed they had sent it before but it did not go through which I can understand but if it was a planned trip they could’ve sent me the sisters contact a week in advanced when Vrbo usually sends check in information. Overall after the first day the property was great very clean and everything you need to have a great time I would definitely stay here again just minus the wasps!

The Plumeria House was perfect for two couples interested in privacy, quiet, and proximity to the water. The layout of the house allowed us our own space as well as multiple areas for gathering (a screened in lanai, wrap-around porch with barbeque, dining table, comfortable chairs and a hammock, and an inviting living room. The walk to the beach was less than five minutes. There was a water main break in the area during our stay and the owner came over with cold bottled water and jugs of water we could use if the repair ended up taking a while. (It didn't, but it was really nice to know we had supplies, if necessary)! We would love to stay here again.

Great place, great location, and the beach just across the street. Beautiful yard and the view out of every window is prefect. Just like the last 2 times. Can wait to come back next year. Thank you

My wife and I stayed here for a week and really enjoyed our time here. The house is a traditional Hawaiian home with screens and louvered windows. It was very comfortable and never hot. Bill and Mary Ellen were great hosts. Bill transported the kayak for us so we could visit a local waterfall. Kayaking there was easy, but the walk once you beach the canoe was a little challenging and I wouldn’t recommend it for people who are not in decent shape. The house is across the street from the ocean. It’s about a 3 minute walk and you’re on Anini Beach. There are plenty of beach chairs at the house for 5 people. We cooked breakfast most days and found the kitchen to be well equipped. There’s a new fridge and the grill on the wrap around porch was super clean. It’s a very quiet space and the yard is very spacious with tons of fruit trees. We would definitely stay here again.

This was my second stay at this wonderful beach cottage and I'd stay again. Spacious yard and house, vintage design, wraparound decks screened and unscreened, fantastic outdoor shower, easy beach access, well equiped. Tropical paradise.

This is a taste of old Hawaii. Across the street from Anini. Beach and the “Turtle Car Wash.” Snorkled every day.

This is such an amzing place to stay! We loved the quiet area, secluded beach, kayaks, reading corners, and croquet. We would definitely stay here again!

May 2023
The place is amazing! The location is perfect! In a beautiful garden with an easy walk across the street to Anini Beach which was beautiful for swimming and snorkeling. We loved the sounds of all the birds! Eating meals on the lanai was the best. The kitchen was equipped with all we needed plus a BBQ on the wrap around patio. We did not want to ever leave this paradise. We are hoping to return next year so we can take the kayaks up the river and see the waterfall.

A true old Hawaii experience! Lovely and quaint house in amazing location just steps from the beach. Lots of beach chairs and outside areas to lounge. A screened lanai with big french doors and fans throughout the house created great airflow. Interior is quaint and comfortable, but is ready for some updates. We cooked nightly and found the kitchen workable, but it would benefit from a refresh on the cooking tools. You can't go wrong with this location!

We loved the house and the location. My husband swam with sea turtles early in the morning at the nearby beach. We had happy meals together on the screened in porch and cozy discussions in the living room. We have already recommended Plumeria to friends and family.

We have been traveling to the Hawaiian islands together since 1986. We agree that this was our favorite trip so far. The quiet location and proximity to Anini beach combined with the fully equipped home made for a perfect combination. After picking up some fresh Kampachi at the Dolphin fish market we grilled it up and made fish tacos. The kitchen has everything one needs to cook and the screened in dining area allowed us to enjoy the beautiful landscape. The home was in need of a coat of paint, but was clean and neatly decorated with lots of comfy chairs. We rate this an overall 5 stars!

We went on spring break with our young adult children. The home and garden were beautiful! The home is a true Hawaiian style, not fancy but comfortable and welcoming. I love Anini Beach, which was just across the road- sea turtles, calm waters, and shaded with beautiful palm trees. The hosts MaryEllen and Bill were amazingly attentive, and we so appreciated Bill's help in getting the Kayaks to a secluded nearby river.

Easy walk to beach. Beautiful grounds and outdoor wraparound porch. Accommodates a couple or family of 4. Not especially clean and needs sprucing up. Everything works. But older appliances—some need replacing. Not enough info about the area or how things in the house work, like the TV..

February 2023
Overall we were very satisfied with the house. the location is great and the ambiance (especially the outdoor seating) was wonderful. The overall atmosphere seemed very "Hawaiian". Even the squawking of the chickens was kind of cute. The reasons I didn't give it all 5 stars are : 1. The check in email stated there was no wifi password, but there was (it was on the bulletin board in the house). When I called the owner gave me the correct info. 2. The stove top didn't light. When I called the owner, he came over right away and provided a work around (a gas grill lighter) but still the stove should have been checked before hand. I guess most people don't cook :-) 3. We got a little unlucky in that there seemed to be a lot of maintenance going on during the day and as a result there was more noise than I expected. BUT, to reiterate, we really enjoyed our stay there and I recommend the place to others.

February 2023
Wonderful and responsive hosts for a quiet Hawaiian style house. Great location for snorkeling or quiet beach time, but no water view from the house as it is across the street from the beach. House is well stocked and appointed, but the sheets and bath towels are worn and need replacing.. Otherwise, a wonderful experience!

February 2023
This was our second time staying at Bill and Mary Ellen’s Pulmeria House. This time, we were able to share the experience with family from Alberta Canada. The house provides a true “Old Kauai” experience, complete with roosters and bull frogs! (Just bring some ear plugs). We enjoyed the evening rains while sitting on the wrap around porch. Fresh tropical fruits and flowers are all around the property, but the warm outdoor shower in the garden was the highlight,

Fabulous cottage across from the beach. The outdoor shower is a great bonus and fins and beach chairs are available to borrow. The screened in porch is perfect for family dinners and the hammock made for a great relaxing snooze. We will definitely be back! ❤️

January 2023
Our stay was wonderful. Kitchen had everything that we needed, beds were comfortable and the location was fantastic. It was so nice to walk down the street to the beach and see the sunset. We were just a few miles away from Princeville and Hanalei, where we had access to a grocery store and many restaurants. There were also several fruit trees on the property which we were able to sample some of the fruit. The house and furnishings are a little older, but wasn’t enough that it prevented us from having a relaxing trip. Would stay here again.

Great location on the north shore. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture. Loved the hammock outside. Delicious fruit growing on the trees. Enjoyed our stay.

November 2022
We had a wonderful relaxing stay at the Plumeria Cottage. We have stayed in various small cottages on Anini Beach over the years, and this is one that will be at the top of our list for next time. We especially appreciate the ‘plantation cottage’ feel in all the furnishings: Lots of bamboo and bentwood furniture. The kitchen appliances were just fine. I really enjoyed having breakfast with the morning sun in the rocking chair on the east-side veranda, while my wife favored the screened-in porch on the west side for dinner time. Access to the beach is very convenient, and having beach chairs and other gear at the cottage made every beach outing go smoothly. The snorkel sets didn’t fit me very will, so I rented gear at a shop in Hanalei. A very convenient and a reliable solution. At one point we thought there was a problem with the lighting, and Bill responded quickly and everything was worked out right away. We look forward to another opportunity to visit that little corner of Kauai again.

We had a great stay at plumeria. Dinner on the screened in porch, and a nice time swimming at Anini beach across the road.

October 2022
The house and grounds are amazing. just as we remembered them from last year. Every thing here is perfect. Just minutes to amazing snorkeling across the street. 10 min to Princeville and the shops there food land and Lambert's ice cream! About 15 min to Kilauea town and Kilauea Bakery & Pizzeria pure baked goodness. Thank you so much. We will be back next year. :) John

October 2022
Loved our stay here but this is not a modern, up to date condo with latest conveniences, pools and hot tubs. It was very comfortable with lots of space (indoors and on 3 porches) to spread out. Beautiful landscaping, great location. Could use brighter lights and replenished kitchen supplies (short on glasses, only one tablespoon)

October 2022
Great place for 2 to stay. The pictures online do not do justice for the true old Hawaiian feel of this beautiful location/ house The good communication with the owners throughout the stay was very helpful. We will return many times again.

September 2022
Beautiful property, like a botanical garden. The beach across the road is truly magnificent. Loved the town of Hanalei so close. Long drives if you want to go to other side of island, but prefer staying on this side. Only downside is loud feral roosters….sadly, that’s a problem on the whole island that needs to be addressed.

Supriya G.

We really enjoyed our stay at Plumeria! The location is amazing - right across the street from Anini beach. The cottage is in a gorgeous tropical garden setting with and the wrap around patio allows for beautiful views of the garden.

We had a few issues on the front end, but the owners where extremely accommodating and wonderfully kind. I would recommend this property.

July 2022
The location was perfect for our family and we were happy to discover the beach access across the street. Perfect beach for kids and great snorkeling. We had an amazing time and loved the cottage! The host was very helpful and quick to respond to any questions prior to our arrival. Thank you!

This was our family’s second stay at the Plumeria cottage and it was just as we remembered! This home has everything you need and easy access to Anini Beach. We will be back!

July 2022
The property owners were very responsive to concerns. If four in party, best for couples. Two queen/full beds available with very uncomfortable third futon in small room. Second bedroom up narrow stairs not appropiate for people with mobility issues. Need much better lighting in main bathroom needed. One of our family members decided to sleep on couch in living room. Much of the appliances are dated, but doable. Nice to have kayaks & beach chairs available. Very pleasant screened dining & seating area! Surrounding grounds beautiful! Thank you Bill & Mary Ellen

July 2022
Great spot, great place. Its an easy walk to the beach access, just a few seconds down the road (west) - not a problem even if you are carrying a couple chairs and some snorkel gear. The beach was fantastic for snorkeling, especially for kids just learning. As with most north shore beaches, you can have sun or shade, as you like. The house was great. Mary Ellen was responsive with communications. Bill was very helpful with setting up a kayak ride - that turned out to be a nice surprise experience. Highly recommend.

July 2022
First timers to Kauai, and we're now life-long North Shore fans. We originally booked a condo at a resort on the east side, but made a late switch. We had no way of knowing what an incredible decision that would be! We were treated to our own private nature preserve at Plumeria. The house and land were more than we could have hoped for- the morning birdsong was unreal, the yard private and filled with flowering trees and shrubs, and the 3-sided porch perfect for taking it all in. Breezes kept the house lovely and cool, even as the sun made for perfect beach weather just a couple hundred yards away. We found great snorkeling at Anini Beach for floating with the sea turtles, and had great access to other north shore snorkeling gems. We had some great meals in Hanelei- and we ran into the house cleaner upon checkin who made great recommendations. The house was well-stocked with everything we could have wanted.

June 2022
This place is a gem! The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do and areas to explore. The sunsets and sunrises at Anini Beach we’re just amazing. The kayaks that were at the property made experiencing them even better. We spent our afternoons on the lanai enjoying the views and ocean sounds. This place is great for couples and families to stay. We are looking forward to bringing our girls back to this house. The flower arrangement that was made from cuttings from the property were beautiful and such a nice welcoming touch. Everyone was so easy to get in touch with. The outdoor shower was so nice!!!!! Can’t wait until we can go back to this incredible island and house!

This vacation rental was a classic Hawaiian plantation home with a beautiful deck and comfortable furnishings. We loved every minute of our stay. The home was well furnished and surrounded by tropical foliage. A very quiet beach with golden sand is right across the street. My daughter and her boyfriend kayaked the klihiwai river and portaged up to a private waterfall. This was a spectacular stay and we look forward to returning someday.

Paula H.
May 2022
The plantation style home is just perfect for a relaxing vacation on Kauai. It is a walk to the beach and no real reason to explore the other beaches as Anini Beach is quiet, a good mix of shade and sun, lots of length to walk and plenty of area to snorkel. Bill and Mary Ellen are warm and welcoming hosts. Ask Bill about exploring a local river and waterfall by kayak. The house is comfortable, the porches terrific and the best feature it the amazing outdoor shower!

May 2022
We could not expect better!!. The house form outside looks like regular house, but when you get inside - it is amazing. House has some jungle / Hawaii character that we enjoyed so much!!! Also, the location!!! . You can walk to the beach just in 5 minutes with a cup of coffee for sunrise and what is amazing from the same spot you can watch the sun set. The water is calm and snorkeling is perfect at the same beach. There is kayaks you can use in these calm water. We enjoyed this house and location very much. Thank you.

April 2022
This special place looks even better than the photos! The beach is a quick close walk, the lush beauty of the garden was very relaxing from the lanai, and lots of activities surrounding the area and the snorkel and games provided were great during down time. Hosts were very responsive and gave great recommendations. We will be back!

Robin B.
April 2022
Plumeria was beyond our expectations for Location. It was so private amidst a jungle of beauty and the beach at your fingertips. The biggest limitation is it is just a little worn down and needs some loving. Enjoyed our stay, proximity to all attractions couldn't be better

April 2022
Place had a real Hawaiian feel and was perfect.

March 2022
Spacious and functional VRBO helped with a wonderful Kauai vacation; snorkeling at Anini beach, whale, dolphin and sea turtle watching. Great parking and secluded lot. Fantastic outdoor shower to wash off salt and sand.

March 2022
Spent three weeks at Plumaria house. Bill and Maryellen were very accommodating. The house is a comfortable rustic beach home. Perfect location! Anini beach is paradise.

Tim L.
February 2022
The home is charming and a bit weathered. We truly enjoyed being a five minute walk from the beach with hardly anyone there. We spent a lot of time on the wrap-around porch with beautiful vegetation everywhere you looked. Our stay was totally relaxing and we vegged out for the full two weeks. The owners stopped by periodically and left us fruit from the various trees in the yard.

Christopher W.
February 2022
Plumeria Cottage is stunning! We enjoyed the wrap around porch at different times of the day, and the way the breeze flows through the house through the traditional plantation louvers. The kitchen is perfect and well stocked, the linens smell amazing, and the outdoor shower was a special treat. We arrived a bit early and Mary Ellen was getting us ready with a beautiful flower arrangement and fresh fruit from the yard. She showed us where the beach chairs, boogie boards and kayaks were, and offered to drive and launch the kayak for us. The walk to the beach is just down the driveway and across the street. The reef at Anini is vast, and the snorkeling is amazing. Hanalei Bay is a short drive away for groceries or meals out. This was a fabulous find for us, and was a beautiful and memorable week. Thank you Mary Ellen and Bill!

Allison H.
January 2022
On site owners Mary Ellen and Bill are amazing and made our stay feel like we were at home in this beautiful slightly off beach quiet and peaceful property. We already miss the peaceful sounds of the nighttime waves, frogs and of course chickens callig to us too! We will be back very soon! Thank you a million Mary Ellen and Bill for sharing this special place with us. Allie and Brian

January 2022
The moment you turn off of Highway 56 you know you are approaching someplace special. Plumeria House takes you back in time with an “Old Hawaii” vibe that is casual and unpretentious. When we weren’t out hiking or kayaking, we spent all of our time in the rocking chairs on the covered porch. We’ll be back for sure.

Lisa m.
January 2022
What a perfect location to stay. We loved the home and the beautiful landscaping. The weather was wonderful the entire week and the beach had the best snorkeling on North side. Bill and Mary Ellen are wonderful hosts. We will definitely be back!

Lovely hosts who checked on us but not too much. If you are coming in the winter months be prepared for chilly nights and rain. It’s not called the garden isle for nothing!

December 2021
This is a wonderful cottage with an authentic Hawaiian feel. Nature is at your door and there are so many places to enjoy it from the wraparound lanai. Beach access right across the street leads to an idyllic private beach. The hosts are there to help if you need it. I'm already planning my next trip back.

Sara F.
December 2021
This home is perfect for a small group vacation, it is open and spacious with many cozy spots to chill. We travelled with two four-year olds, both the house and the yard were safe for them to play and explore. The owners were responsive and helpful and obviously take great pride in maintaining such a wonderful home in a perfect location. I would highly recommend this home and cannot wait to return. ALOHA!!

November 2021
The beauty in this property lies within the seclusion and ambiance the layout, design provides. Beautifully positioned within the community to allow everything we could’ve possibly wanted to experience. It will definitely be on our list for future vacations.

Larry P.
November 2021
From the bedding to the kitchen, furniture and bathrooms, the home is rundown. And, for goodness sakes, fix the ant problem. A couple of cans of ant spray spread through out the house doesn't cut it. The lighting is poor and no outside lights. We had to use a flashlight every night to get to the door. We arrived late at night, a little coffee the house for the next morning would have been nice.

Katherine C. C.
October 2021
We loved staying at this house for our honeymoon. It was less than a five minute walk to Anini Beach and the neighborhood was very quiet. The house was super cute and very clean. It also had all the basics for cooking simple meals and laundry machines. It’s a bit far from the south side of the island so make sure to plan your activities appropriately. Definitely recommend this house!

Jen H.
October 2021
Bill and his lovely wife are wonderful hosts! Bill greeted us and showed us everything including the kayaks under the porch which he delivered to a nearby river fir us to paddle up and then hike to an oscillated falls where we swam. The beach across the road is fun, we hunted crab in their holes every night and had a blast. Just down the road about a mile is the best snorkeling! We swam with lots of turtles, eels, tons of fish, a couple eels and even a shark(small). The reef protects the snorkeling area so it’s great for kids. This house was perfect for our family of 5. The kids shared beds but our youngest could’ve stayed on the couch. The outdoor shower is the BEST shower any of us ever took. I’m going straight home to build my own! I never took a shower in the house! Our youngest loved hunting for geckos and cane toads around this beautiful fruit filled property! We are avocados, oranges and lemons from the trees - PARADISE! We love this place!

Comfortable bed, clean and spacious bathroom, beautiful landscaping, short walk to the beach, and wrap around lanai. There isn't much more you can ask for. We had a minor maintenance issue that Bill addressed right away. Great property!

September 2021
We were so happy with this home, we felt so at peace in the private setting set away from the main road, but still a 2 minute walk to Anini Beach. We did wake up to the noise of roosters every morning which we later discovered run wild throughout Kauai - this still did not take away from our lovely experience at the rental. The house had what we needed to prepare meals at home plus towels and gear for the beach if needed. The location is a short 15 minute drive to Hanalei to the west where we did most of our excursions. We would stay here again!

Nichol R.
August 2021
We loved staying at Plumeria house. It was homey and comfortable. The kitchen had all the basic dishes and utensils you want and need. There were plenty of bath and beach towels. The beds were comfortable. There were beach chairs and other beach toys under the porch. We loved the openness and rustic charm of the house. The neighborhood was private and quiet. The beach was less than a five minute walk from the house. Bill was very attentive to our needs and answered all our questions. We are planning to come back and stay at Plumeria in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the plumeria house. The property was gorgeous and the location absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend.

August 2021
Wow! This house and property was FABULOUS. The photos really do not do it any justice. A two minute walk to a private spot on Anini beach… lots of good amenities at the house including kayaks and everything you need for the beach. Bill stopped by to say hello and was so wonderful. The screened walls allowed for a cool breeze to come through at night. I Must say, bring ear plugs as the roosters are up early :) Thanks Bill and Mary Ellen, We can’t wait to visit Plumeria again!

August 2021
This is a truly one-of-a-kind vacation rental. The house is gorgeous, well maintained, well equipped and perfectly located. The owner is so sweet and helpful. Anini beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island and this house is situated right across from it. Thank you for the wonderful experience, we will definitely be back!

Jeffery H.
August 2021
Had an excellent week at Plumeria with the family. Enjoyed the house, property, and Anini beach across the street. On the very quiet and empty Anini beach we swam, saw some bony fish and stingrays. Used the grill 4 times as well and ate a few of the ripe fruits on the property. We look forward to visiting again.

Gina B.
August 2021
The experience was seamless. Easy checkin, friendly hosts, and a beautiful family home that feels like you're truly living like a local. We loved the air breezing through the home, the high open ceilings, and natural feeling spaces. We ate breakfast overlooking the marsh and wetlands and slow river, kayaked, and spent so much time snorkeling at Anini. Perfect beach for young kids - no waves in July, tons of fish, sandy Beach. It was paradise. We were so sad to leave!!!

July 2021
My favorites were the outdoor shower and playing in the kayak, fortunately I had teenage boys to haul it to the beach for me :) The beach here is wonderfully peaceful. The house itself had everything we needed.

July 2021
My family and I LOVED staying here. This house is truly a unique experience with allowing anyone staying at the house to feel connected with nature. Everything was clean, relaxing, spacious, and had all eminities that anyone could want: kayaks, snorkel gear boogie boards, sand toys. Would recommend this place to anyone

June 2021
Not five stars but located next to an amazing beach that is easy to walk to. I actually love this cottage but it is not a 2-bedroom. It is 1 bedroom, with en suite bathroom, and a loft which I slept in with full sized bed and a dinky bathroom downstairs. The downstairs bathroom is bad. On many levels. That was my bathroom. Broken mirror, no place to put my stuff, shower massage too high up and also broken, bad light fixture. Shower curtain rod is rough so curtain doesn’t slide. Funky. All easy fixes. I realize that rentals have been off for a year. Perhaps when it gets busy again the owners will be able to spend a little money on updating rusty light fixtures. Your toaster is janky. The sliding doors to the washer dryer fell off and I had to put them back on. They need to be replaced. I don’t like repairing things on vacation. The house needs about $1,000 to fix cosmetic problems. The house itself is fantastic. I love it. It is a 10 star location. But it’s more appropriate for a couple or small family than for travelers who want their own room. My sister got the big bedroom because I had promised her we would each have our own room at the house. So I took the loft. She got the master bedroom. I really enjoyed sleeping in the loft so no big deal. I saw the full moon every night. Bed was comfortable. Sheets were brown… weird choice. My sister’s bedspread was too hot and heavy, and also brown. Two couples traveling together would hate it because there is no wall or door on the loft. The other “bedroom” is a tiny den with fold-out futon. An adult would hate it, but a kid could totally sleep there. There is a non-functional armoire that should be removed. It looks like a tv cabinet but there is no tv there. The door on the armoire hangs akimbo. The walls are wood paneling throughout the house, but it could really be cute with white paint. Or aqua, since it’s a beach house. There is a lot of brown here. Simple cosmetic update would make the house adorable. Lots of potential here. If you ever want to sell it I would be interested. VRBO sent a message that said no wifi password was needed, but you DO need the password. It needs to be more prominently placed when you enter the home. A “welcome” book would be useful. Overall, this house was great, and I would love to stay here with my family.

This is such a warm and pleasant vacation home. It was never too hot with the airflow and wind, and the outdoor shower is amazing. Steps away from the beach for wonderful sunrises! This is actually a great place to stand up paddle board too. Highly recommend.

Four of us just spent a week at Plumeria Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed it! The house is comfortable and airy with porches on three sides so no matter what time of day, there was a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the luscious Island breezes. It's right across the street from a perfect swimming beach and very close to the village for shopping and activities. We loved the outdoor shower, the beautiful plumerias and ginger plants in the yard and were entertained by the all the wild birds, chickens and roosters. We would definitely go back again! Thank you MaryEllen and Bill!

This cottage across the street from Anini Beach is such a treasure. From the moment we entered the house, we felt like we were in paradise. It's the perfect mix of beauty and function. All the windows open, and the breeze felt fantastic, the yard is full of beautiful flowers and fruit trees, the outdoor shower is useful and charming, all the rooms and beds are comfortable, and the kitchen is fully stocked, including a blender. It was the perfect place for us to spend the first five days of our vacation and the perfect vantage point for exploring the North Shore. We made use of the sea kayak and had so much fun snorkeling at Anini Beach. It was even a great place for runs along the sand. We loved it so much we stayed an extra day and Mary Ellen and her husband were very helpful and generous, making the process of adding a day easy. We would love to return in the future.

We loved this beautiful old home, with its lovely yard and wrap around porch. Pleasant meandering stream by the house and the ocean was just across the yard. Appreciated having kayaks and extra snorkle gear to use. Our small family of three stayed here for five nights and it was one of the very best vacations we have every had and we especially liked this north coast location--close to Tunnels beach, hiking, kayaking and just plain relaxing! We enjoyed a lovely stay at Plumeria Cottage and would love to return there one day. Lovely setting and close to the Anini beach. A home away from home on Kauai. Mahalo

This is a terrific location to just walk across to Anini Beach! The house is quite nice. My favorite part is the hot and cold outdoor shower after the sandy beach. We met the host, Bill, who is pleasant and unobtrusive. We appreciated the fresh fruit and flowers on arrival. Thank you Bill and Mary Ellen for offering this lovely place. I will miss the croaking frogs they serenade in an oddly nice way!

We enjoyed our week at the Anini Beach home. It was a great location and a very comfortable home. All you need for a good night sleep is a set of ear plugs for the 🐔𕀠roosters!!! We got right into the Aloha spirit and relaxed with great food and beach walks. Wonderful week.

My family of five stayed at Plumeria for two weeks. It was the best vacation we ever had. Everything we needed was supplied. All the beach paraphernalia was there for us to use, beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear, and even a kayak! It's a short walk across the street to one of the best beaches on Kauai. Annini beach is protected by a barrier reef, so the waves are never too rough. The Plantation style house is decorated beautifully. It was very comfortable for a family of five. There is a huge wrap around porch, and a screened in dining room. There is also an outdoor shower shielded by the the trees that has amazing shower pressure. We felt like this was the true Hawaii experience, and cannot wait to go back! Bill and Mary Ellen are fantastic hosts. Thank you so much for an amazing vacation!

Plumeria cottage suited our small family perfectly for a nine day stay. The deep eaves protecting the wraparound porch and the screened lanai create very pleasant and comfortable places to relax in. They are also very functional, protecting our hiking, beach, and snorkeling gear from the frequent rains, as our visit coincided with the weather created by Tropical Storm Darby. The house definitely made our stay extremely pleasant, even on some rainy days. Thank you Plumeria! The furnishings and condition of the house are pretty much exactly as pictured. The walls and floors are made of repurposed redwood wine storage vats..smooth, vintage, and beautiful. There are nice little touches throughout the house, giving it's own unique personality. Keep in mind that this house is older home in a tropical climate, well-maintained but with some infrastructure, furnishings and linens functional but well-used. The house was well-stocked when we arrived. We appreciated the warm and attentive hosts who came by to welcome us and bring a gift of fresh fruit, and show us how to use the fruit picker to get our own papayas off the tree in the yard. They were very responsive to a minor fix of an aging smoke detector starting to chirp. Some maintenance attention to the screens around the screened lanai will be needed within a year or so to keep the integrity of this essential bug-barrier high. We had no issues with mosquitos in the house, but we took care to keep the unscreened French doors closed. The house cools off well with the ceiling fans and the doors and windows with screens open. During low-mosquito periods of the day, the hammock and chairs on the wraparound porch are great places to enjoy the view of the palm tree-lined stream that flows next to house. We appreciated the use of the two double kayaks under the house. The house is a short portage to the double-reef protected Anini bay, a magical place to explore. Two strong adults can walk the kayaks to the beach access alleys, but it would be a big help if there was a set of wheels/wheelbarrow to make this more accessible to all without the need to hoist them up onto a car. A wish for our next visit here someday!
