AC broke. Well, we arrived and it never got cool so I'm going to say it never worked. We slept one sweaty night and realized we could text someone about the issue. They got right back to us and we had new AC units by that afternoon in the bedroom and also in the living room. The rest of the stay was very comfortable and I was so grateful someone got back to us and resolved the issue. This is what I'll remember. But also, everything was nice, clean, and comfortable :)

The property was so beautiful and well maintained. The unit was a bit on the older side but very clean and well maintained. We loved that it was on the first floor, no having to log everything up a. Inch of stairs but we still had a view of the ocean from our lanai. We could not ever get the moving area a/c to flow cold air, but the bedroom one worked really well and that’s really all that mattered to us.

Stayed in June and had a wonderful time. The unit was clean and perfect for us! Nice view and well maintained grounds. Nice pool and hot tub area. Nice seating area on the water where you can walk on the rocks and see everything. You can even snorkel off the rocks on a calm morning! Mahalo

We rented the one bedroom apartment for a full week and had an amazing time! It had everything we needed, even if a few features felt outdated, all were full functional. The sofa was what I like to call a couch hole, something so good you NEVER want to leave. We used the free books, the pool and hot tub, and walked down to the rocky coast several times. The bed was great, place was clean, and I wish we'd grilled out, but we aren't cooks lol.The staff was amazing. Quick responses to questions, and maintenance came same day for one weird noise we were hearing (turns out was a different unit lol!) And got it all sorted quickly.Would go back in a heartbeat.

The condo is average. Price was ok. People are friendly around the pool and lounge area. The only odd thing I thought was the amount of consumables. I didn’t plan on going on vacation and having to buy toilet paper, garbage bags, aluminum foil, spices, etc...Talking with other owners all that is provided. Pots and pans are very outdated as-well. I’m not really complaining just saying little things like that matter to a person who’s on vacation not running errands for basic household necessities.

Overall the property was perfect for us, the complex is geared to older people and so was very quiet. The views from the shared patio bbq space were amazing. Husband had good snorkeling off the rocks right at the condo.
A few things different than our usual stays at other vacation rentals- no extras left in the cupboard, they only stocked 2 rolls of TP and 1 paper towel roll, a few laundry and dishwasher pods. Not a big deal, just different.
Beach supplies- beach towels, 2 boogie boards, a noodle and some sand toys.

A nice updated unit, ground floor amid beautiful, mature landscaping. Geckos on the lanai provided entertainment! Only glitch was the dishwasher door not closing properly and an under sink water alarm that woke everyone up at 5am on our last day. Kona Makai is an aging property - this unit is the exception.

As always, Kona Makai was awesome. Quiet and relaxing is the best way to describe the complex. Fantastic area, location and views. Sunsets every night and gentle crashing waves to decompress with. Snorkeling out front is fantastic but really not for a beginner. The entering and exiting can be a challenge at times. All in all a great stay.
As with all of my reviews, I try to be upfront with my findings. This way everyone involved can get an open and honest idea of how things are. The unit is very comfortable and had everything we needed. Close to the pool and beach front but a bit of a down hill walk if you park in the main parking area. This is only a slight issue as walking back to your car is uphill. You can park on the other side if of the complex if there is a spot open and it would be a flat walk. The unit could use some TLC but is still very comfortable to stay in.

We had everything we needed in this well equipped condo on the first floor. We prepared meals in addition to going out to some great local restaurants, and the condo has olive oil, spices, salt & pepper, sugar as well as a generous selection of pots, pans, serving dishes, etc. We spent lovely mornings and evenings on the lanai, surrounded by lush tropical plantings and gorgeous flowering shrubs. Cardinals, finches and so many more birds to see and listen to theirs songs. The pool was lovely, as well as the view of the ocean from the chaise lounge chairs and tables looking out from the pool area was spectacular. BBQ’ing in shared area was a great bonus. Bed was very comfy, lots of towels and pillows. We loved our stay there!

If we were to be quarantined again, I would definitely choose this unit and location. After one week, nearly everything on the island got shut down or severely restricted. This condo and location was the perfect place to "hunker down." It had everything we needed, the complex was beautiful, well-maintained, and the other residents were warm and friendly. Brian at Knudson was most helpful at all times. We recommend this vrbo whole-heartedly!

A great location. The unit condition was not up to snuff. Lanai glass door off the track, so difficult to lock. Toilet tank dripped constantly. Maintenance was scheduled to fix oven door with appointment on the day we departed.

I always read all reviews before I choose. Stay her a lot in Kailua-Kona. This unit did not disappoint! Quiet. Great for the price and the complex is beautiful, flowers amazing!! Watching sunsets every evening, amazing! Great patio on the ocean to BBQ on high end BBQ’s. Close to everything. Very comfortable furniture to relax on, big Lani, stocked kitchen, comfy bed, AC in bedroom n living room worked great! TV worked great! Met all of my requirements . Management company very responsive and quick!

This condo was exactly what we needed. We were hesitant about where we wanted to stay because of all the options that are available. It's hard to pick! 2-102 was perfect. It's In one of the closer buildings to the ocean, which is what everyone wants, right? The owners did a AMAZING job with the remodel. We loved it! We will be back!!

A beautiful complex, great pool and other amenities. The unit was listed as being updated but the bathroom taps especially the tub unit needs replacing. Also, huge furniture in a small unit do not add appeal and make it crowded. I would like to eat in the unit at a table which was not possible. The kitchen has the cheapest cupboards possile. Not impressive.

OMG!! One of the best vacations we have ever had. And we have been to Kona many times over the last 10 yrs. What made this trip extraordinary was where we stayed. The condo we rented had a great view as well as acsess to the water to go snorkeling as well as BBQ right at the "edge" of the beautiful coastline. Loved that we could relax in lounge chairs right at the water front. Wi-wi worked great. good location to town. Thank you for providing a place for us!! Already recommend this place to my co-workers. The initial reservation process was smooth, however when it came to paying the deposit, the associate from Knutson was extremely rude. One should know that Knutson only advertises for owners and they have no recourse should the owner cancel at the last minute. Upon arrival, we were extremely pleased with the location of our condo and its cleanliness. One chair was broken but other than that the condo was well-equipped.

Unfortunately there were vermins in the kitchen and bathroom and by the looks of the drawers they had been there for a longer time. We complained, but nobody answered our calls or e-mails. Though they did some pest control later on (which was either planned before or done because of our complaints,I don't know), it was no help.Apart from that, the condo and the whole facility was nice.

I loved our place on the Big Island. It was in a great location but even better was the condo itself. I so enjoyed drinking my morning tea on the balcony looking at the pool and beach and the beautiful landscaping. It was the perfect size for the 3 of us and all in all the perfect place for our stay. I would definitely recommend it!
