Sugar beach proved to be a great central home base as we explored all of the island ( except for restricted west coast areas). We had easy access to the Mt Haleakala area, Road to Hana, Hoapili trail, snorkeling at turtle town, and the Waihe’e ridge trail! Plenty of good restaurant choices nearby. The pool was closed for maintenance but we knew about that in advance and had no interest in sitting by a pool when a beautiful beach was just outside! Good communication with host. Washer/dryer in the unit helpful as we had another week of travel planned after Maui.

We had a wonderful visit to Maui. Our condo was beautiful, with an amazing ocean view from the lanai! We loved the tropical decor, very comfy furnishings, a well equipped kitchen and so many extras that were made available to us. A bonus was having free access to the parking garage. Our hosts were so gracious and accommodating. Everything was perfect, including the pool, hot tub and beach walk. Our favorite place was the lanai, starting the day with a smoothie, getting some sun, relaxing with a glass of wine, or watching sunsets together after a day of island adventures. Mahalo for giving us a beautiful place to make special memories on our 40th anniversary in Maui.

We had a wonderful honeymoon here even though most of it was spent out of the condo! We enjoyed the ocean view and the pool. We didn’t realize there was a washer and dryer available until the end of the trip! Otherwise the unit had many notes and instructions posted throughout each room. We did not cook at all but the kitchen seemed to be well stocked. It was a great place to come home to after our daily adventures.

This condo is great! It is nicely decorated and lovingly cared for. The view from the lani is amazing and a great place to watch the whales or the rowing competitions. There are even two pairs of binoculars so you don't have to share. The kitchen has everything you need to make meals or tropical drinks. The entertainment center is very nice and easy to use thanks to the clear instructions. This unit feels like a home. This is our 3rd time we've stayed here and we are coming back next year. This place is the best!

Absolutely the best VRBO rental ever, high end decorating, furniture and bed extremely comfortable, including the beach chairs. Extra towels and bedding, kitchen had everything! We stayed at Sugar Beach Resort last year as well, there are few people both visits, those visits being in November and December.Most likely because the resort it’s the second to the last building of Kihea’s beach. The owner is very accommodating and easy to relate to, and is the property manager. Aloha 🌴

Everything was smooth and easy. Kitchen was well stocked...including cooking oil, spices, etc. The only drawback was the number of care instructions guests are expected to do...like squeegee and spray shower every use, or clean out vents, not use pen while sitting on the couch, etc. It was not a big deal...just know going in.
The view was amazing, easy access to the beach...great for early morning walks on the wet sand. It is a drive to get most places, but perfect for me...who did not want to do most of the touristy or crowded activities. You will definitely a car. Kihei is a cute town with plenty of food options.
Our last morning produced the biggest, boldest double rainbow I have ever scene. Aloha!

From the moment we walked in the door, we were very happy! Pictures don’t do this condo justice. The view is great, furnishings very nice and bed was very large and comfortable. The condo is very well stocked with your cooking basics. This resort is very well located to lots of restaurants, food trucks, stores and beaches, without being too close and crowded like other areas of the island. The resort itself is very nice, pool, hot tube and bbq areas are well kept up and clean. We’ve stayed in other parts of the island but this location is the one we’ve decided we’ll come back to. We will definitely be booking this condo again!

Not much to say this place was perfect, it’s set up like a home literally every thing we needed was already there. You can tell the owners know what they are doing. If I had one suggestion it would be to upgrade their I home to the new plug. But that’s it supper comfortable bed.

This condo is wonderful. It is well appointed and lovely maintained. The kitchen is stocked with all kinds of appliances, utensils, pots & pans and even spices. This is very useful if you are staying for an extended time and don't want to eat out everyday, not to mention the cost savings. There are beach items, big fluffy towels, binoculars for whale watching and items for the occasional rainy day such as board games, puzzles, etc. This place is special. The owner even called us before we were to arrive, to explain Hawaii's COVID restrictions and what we should expect. We would stay here again in a heart beat.

We loved unit 525. It was right on the water with a beautiful oceanfront view with the added extra of the two swaying palm trees right outside. The sunsets from the balcony were amazing. The unit had everything we needed. The bed was SO comfortable and the AC worked perfectly. The owner was always very responsive prior to check in and everything was perfect when we arrived. The building is older but the grounds are beautiful. Very nice pool and hot tub and a separate grassy area with chairs right off the beach. We loved swimming there also. I have rented from VRBO many times and this was the easiest property to book. Communication was quick and effective. Thank you!
The property was clean and well maintained. Free parking was very convenient and it was located centrally to all of our activities. The kitchen was well stocked with nice pots and pans, a crock pot and blender. I loved Kihei and Maui as a whole. It was SUPER HOT and humid during our stay with very little wind. It was nice to have AC but the unit couldn't quite keep up. It was unusually hot and we were comfortable but not as cool as we would have liked. I would assume it would be sufficient during a normal August. The beach also had a lot of stirred up sand the first 10-15 feet. It was like that our whole stay but it could have been the rain that stirred it up. I don't know.
I would love to stay here again. Thank you for sharing your place with us!!

We rent through vrbo constantly, and THIS CONDO ranks as one of the best we've ever stayed in. We wish we had stayed longer; hopefully we will return one day.
PROS:
1. The kitchen! Diane has done a fabulous job stocking the kitchen with everything you could ever need. Often times this is not the case with rentals (cue the flimsy knives and cheap pots and pans). I am a foodie and found everything I needed and then some in her kitchen. She has plenty of dishware, cooking utensils, prep bowls, pyrex dishes, and other gadgets. There is also a nice supply of spices and other odds and ends in the cabinet above the stove. I needed honey for a recipe and a little canola oil and miraculously found it in the cabinet! I paid it forward by leaving some unopened items in the same cabinet. My husband loved one of their travel coffee mugs so much that he bought one online! Only suggestion would be to add a nice chopping knife (the butcher block lacked one).
2. The location! I know many people prefer to stay up in Lahaina, but I disagree. Yes, the water is a bit bluer up there but I really loved Kihei! It's close to the airport (15-20 mins), a 20 minute drive ti Iao needle, and a 10 minute drive to all the activities you'd ever want (like surfing) and yummy restaurants in the downtown Kihei area (must go to the Kihei for breakfast!). The complex is located on the north end of Kihei so the beach isn't crowded at all. In fact, on some days we were the only ones out there. A farmer's market, ABC store, bakery, and perfectly shaved ice are a short walk on the beach away!
3. The breezes! I loved the tradewinds in the afternoon. It was so nice to sit out on the lanai in the evening. It wasn't hot at all. Many evenings entailed my husband grilling downstairs and us eating on the lanai watching the sun fade. Sometimes it can get QUITE breezy, but we felt sheltered on the lanai. We saw multiple rainbows from the lanai, btw. The condo's AC works wonders.
4. The supplies!! This condo has so many supplies beyond the kitchen. There are plenty of towels- bath and beach. We found toys, beach mats, coolers and chairs. They have VERY NICE Tommy Bahama chairs. Yep, I bought some too!
**As a side note, we rented the next door condo, too (perfect for grandparents). Diane's unit was way better!
One additional suggestion- the King bed is HEAVEN! But the pull out couch not so much. You can feel the bars digging into your back. A memory foam topper would do wonders.

Our Kihei vacation was perfect, the condo was warmly decorated and had everything we could think of. Thank you for sharing your home away from home with us. There were 4 of us girls and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. 2 of us stayed in another unit for 2 days before we could get into this one and i was worried about the pull out bed, the other unit's was horribly uncomfortable, yours was so comfortable that the two that had it for the first part of our trip, decided not to switch rooms and stay on the pull out. We all brought carry ons only so the fact that you supplied a hair dryer, towels, etc was a bonus. We rented paddle boards from the shop right on site as well as booked snorkel trips. So convenient and they are so helpful. Ate out alot but we split plates since everything is so expensive but loved Cheeseburger in Paradise (i know, very touristy) but it was delicious, Moose's in Kihei 3x and once I found Horhitos Fish Truck, that was it., I was hooked. They have amazing food and a great price! Thank you again.

Thank you very much for allowing us to stay at your holiday retreat. We had a wonderfull time in the condo but only wished we could haved stayed longer.
The Sugar Beach Rsort is centrally located on the island allowing you to visit the many beaches or activities very quickly and easily if you have a vehicle. Tthe grounds are beautiful and well maintained along with the BBQ area which was such a highlite for me - you could haved charged me admission, it was so enjoyable and informative, you meet many people who want to socialize and exchange information about the islands. My wife loved to walk the beach in the morning and feel the sand and waves on her feet and look for sea glass and shells. My wife's favourite time was sitting on the lanai having breakfast and watching the waves and birds. .
The condo itself could not have been better. It was fully stocked with everthing that we needed, clean and very homey and cozy. There is a safe in the bedroom and the king size bed was very comfortable. There are also two good quality beach chairs along with a cooler on the lanai which came in very handy when we visited the beaches. Should also say that yes there is air conditioning but we did not use it as we kept the sliding door open to hear the waves and feel the cool trade winds.
When we return to Maui, we will be definitely be staying in 525, because we have stayed in five other units at the Sugar Beach Resort and by far this one felt like home to us.

We enjoyed staying at the condo, having dinner on the lanai, taking long walks on the beautiful beach and being able to relax with all the amenities of being at home. The kitchen was well stocked and made cooking easy and convenient. The condo is centrally located which allowed us to buzz around both sides of the island with ease. The bed was inviting & comfortable giving us a great nights rest! Having all of the extras made our vacation so easy and hassle free. We will definitely stay at the condo again while visiting Maui.
