Fran's property was extremely close to the beach and had beach views from the dining area and the lanai. The beach was never crowded and the sunsets were spectacular! The place was centrally located for everything we wanted to do. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. This was the perfect place to stay for our first time to Maui!

I would like to say that it was horrible so that no one else would book it for selfish reasons!! However, nothing could be further from the truth. Fran was an excellent host with excellent communications - very fast response to any questions.
The Condo was spotless as was the complex and pool area. The Condo was very well decorated and had been updated with granite kitchen work tops. Layout was fantastic.
I don't know what other superlatives to use?? We will be back - TERRIFIC experience.

Fran's place is part of the large Sugar Beach condo complex. It is close to an attractive sandy beach that is lovely to walk on. Waves are small so you can swim and boogie-board but probably not surf. The apartment is clean and nicely furnished. Kitchen is well-stocked with utensils, pots, pans, and dishware, in case you want to do your own cooking. The condo complex has a nice pool and hot tub, as well as a separate Maui Activities Center business that can arrange outings for you and give advice. There is a casual, small, friendly bar/restaurant on the grounds that opens for lunch and dinner, as well as a professional massage office on site. The condo is in a really handy, central location, near highways that take you east, west, or north on Maui. Fran was helpful and responsive during our stay. We really enjoyed our time here.

The entire Sugar Beach Resort has been around quite a few years and it shows a little, the place does not appear new any longer. Our condo was nice and well furnished. The swimming pool is almost all 4 feet only and not good for swimming. However, the ocean is very nice for swimming, but surprisingly few people do swim there? The beach is great for pretty long walks, one may walk about 5 miles (out and back) towards the west and a similar distance south-east. You will need a car when staying at Sugar Beach, few other locations within walking distance. We stayed 3 weeks, generally happy, but overall the place was priced a bit higher than its value.

My husband and I loved every minute staying here. I think it’s the best location to stay on the island. Close to the airport and centrally located to everything we wanted to see, we won’t hesitate to rent this unit again. The amenities were wonderful and it’s literally a two minute walk to the beach and to the pool! Mahalo!

We love staying at Sugar Beach Resort. The property is beautiful and the beach is absolutely wonderful for morning and evening walks. We always love our stay there. This unit was very nice, clean & comfortable. You could see the ocean but not head on like some other units. This had a pool view with ocean behind it. Wonderful stay!

Fran was very helpful! The Condo was well stocked with anything you needed. All we had to do was stock up on food and Drinks. If you didn’t want to cook no need to. Lots of very good eateries close by. I will definitely book this place again😀

This condo was a little dated but has all the furnishings needed for a very comfortable stay. The views throughout the day from the unit are amazing of the pool/deck and ocean! Specially enjoyed evening beverage from the balcony at night. Pool area was cleaned and organized every morning as well as the property management, well done! BBQs were well maintained and positioned close to the beach for a beautiful view of the ocean and landscape while cooking! Morning walks on the beach we’re awesome! Endless in both directions…. Clean and very good to walk or run. Not a far walk to local cafe and market, 5-10 min drive to Kihei main entertainment etc….
Overall we loved our stay and can’t wait to return to this beautiful island.

We enjoyed Fran’s place very much. The location was great, and we spent a lot of time on the lanai as well as walking the beach almost every morning. Plenty of room to relax outdoors and easy to explore all parts of the island. The kitchen was well equipped to make breakfast and prepare other snacks during the day. The facility is well cared and the condo is in great condition.
I will miss sipping my morning coffee listening to the waves. Mahalo!

Aloha! This is a great property. While the unit is small it was just perfect for me and my wife. King bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked with all the “prepware” and cookware that we needed. It even has a blender that we used to make pina coladas with our Maui Gold pineapples. The pool is nice and the staff keep the grounds in immaculate condition. The beach was excellent for walks. The surf was pretty calm and the sand was perfect. The first 20-25 feet into the water was all sand and after that we encountered some small rocks/pieces of coral. The trade winds were strong the first half of our trip but they calmed down nicely the second half. But even so, when it’s 80-85 degrees every day the wind felt nice. We really liked the location. We did the Road to Hana and the Haleakala Crater and leaving from this location as opposed to Kaanapali definitely saves time. And it’s very close to the airport. Overall it was a wonderful experience for us!

What a fantastic property! Beautiful view, grounds VERY well maintained, condo is in great shape and was super clean at check-in. Very comfortable bed, chairs, etc.
Wish we'd grilled food earlier in the week - the groundkeeping staff cleans all 6-7 of the gas grills EVERY morning and there was a fun crowd of people to talk to / share info at the grilling area every night.
Very happy with the location - it was peaceful and quiet. We visited Lahaina and that was fun but we'd never want to stay there after seeing those crowds.
Big shout out to Fran for having the best stocked kitchen we've seen - seemingly every utensil / cookware item we needed was right there and the knives were even super sharp (this might not mean a lot to everyone but we like to cook and are almost always disappointed with what we get to work with at other properties).
Appreciate Fran providing umbrellas and chairs, though we stuck with the chairs the property keeps on the gorgeous lawn right off the beach or in the pool area.
We were super happy with this property and wouldn't hesitate to book it again! THANK YOU!

We spent nine days enjoying every aspect of the Sugar Beach Resort. Fran’s place is nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. We’ve been to Maui a dozen times and this was the best experience we’ve had. Everything we needed was there. Very comfortable bed, well outfitted kitchen, and a great view from the balcony. The resort has a nice, laid back vibe and convenient to Kihei restaurants and the airport. We would definitely stay in this unit again and highly recommend to others.

I couldn't ask for more, this was our first time in Maui and had an amazing and most comfortable time staying at Fran's condo. The place was way nicer than the images uploaded on Vrbo to be honest. Fran, if you're reading this, I would recommend to upgrade the images on Vrbo site, my wife and I both thought the images seem outdated and don't do justice describing the place. Fran knows how to accommodate her guests, she has thought of everything in terms of guests' needs. We loved using her beach chairs and umbrella and everything you can think of, she had it ready for you. Sunset on the balcony was just incredible, 5 second walk to beach to see sunrise with my coffee mug was my routine every morning. Next time I'm in Maui, I'll be staying here again and recommend anyone who's visiting Maui (perfect location in mid Maui with similar distance to east and west). Thank you Fran!!

I truly enjoyed my 10 days at Fran's beautiful condo. The place is a wonderful 'home away from home' with an amazing view of the ocean and palm trees from the lanai. It is well maintained, has everything one could possibly need on vacation and I especially appreciated the well appointed kitchen. We were fortunate to spend 14 days at this great place. The Kehei location is central to all Maui activities, and Sugar Beach is perfect for miles of beach walking. Sugar Beach Bakery and Ululani's Shave Ice are just a half mile stroll away. The sunset views from the terrace were exactly as advertised, and the bed has a cushy mattress topper that makes it quite comfy. We enjoyed the hot tub and the perfectly-kept grounds. Communication with Fran was clear and easy. So glad we splurged a little for this lovely place with the awesome views!

Spent a week in Kihei at this basic first floor condo. The complex is currently having upgrades completed, which will make the complex more enjoyable. Hopefully heating for the pool is one of the upgrades. Overall the unit is ok for a couple, but would be very nice for a family with small children. Overall the unit is in pretty good condition but is beginning to need maintenance. It was clean and the kitchen was well appointed with supplies.
The condo is conveniently located for snorkeling and seeing the entire island. We would stay in the Kihei area again, as there are numerous restaurants, beaches, and snorkeling locations within a five mile area.

Fran was the hostess with the mostest- we had booked 6 months before our trip and when trip time arrived the Hawaiian governor was discouraging all travel to Hawaii- I contacted Fran and she was willing to let us re-book at a later date but also calmed our fears of how things really were on the island- we chose to go ahead with our vacation AND are so pleased that we did!! Sugar Beach was the perfect location for us non- touristy middle aged couple- we took several day trips to every part of the island, golfed 3 beautiful courses and snorkeled the Molokini Crater tour( bought tix on site at the office that sets up tours) . We enjoyed drinks and sunbathing each afternoon on the beach and played in the waves…. Dina’s sandwich shop makes really good Mai Tai’s…. Thank you Fran for a wonderful 8 days playing in the sun and surf 🐠🐢🌴🌺 ⛳️

The unit was clean and comfortable and perfect for us. Enjoyed the ocean views from balcony. The kitchen was well stocked and we had breakfast everyday and cooked dinner a couple of times. The location made an excellent base for exploiring the island. We made it to most highlights from Makena state park to Hana and Lahaina. We hiked several trails including Waihee ridge trail, Iao Needle and Pipiwai trail.

My wife and I just returned from a 5 week stay at Fran's condo. The Sugar Beach Resort is ideally located.
You have a short drive to at least 3 different grocery stores, restaurants , and golf courses. It is also an easy drive down to Wailea ( where they have a terrific paved beach walk with panoramic views) or up to Lahaina for more shops & restaurants. The airport & Costco are also close by. The location of Fran's condo within the resort is about perfect. A koi pond with waterfall is directly beneath this 2nd fl unit. The waterfall runs between 9 AM & 9 PM . Between the sound of the waterfall & the sound of the ocean , you have a natural soothing symphony to enjoy. The pool , beach , and grill area are just steps away. If you need to use the elevator, it is right around the corner, but, you do not hear any noise from it in the condo. The staff take great care of the grounds & the grill area. The grill area is a " happening" place every night and even nights your not grilling you almost want to go down to join the party. Everybody we met here was very friendly both at the grill & pool areas. Fran's condo is well appointed and perfect for 2 people. As mentioned, we were here 5 weeks and there was never a time she didn't have what we needed to make a meal. All the stick free pots & pans are in great shape and had no chips.
You can not go wrong here and we hope to be back soon. Thanks Fran!

This condo was everything it was advertised to be and more. Exceptionally neat and clean.
Fully equipped kitchen. Nice TV,comfortable bed,comfortable furniture. The ocean view is wonderful...saw the sun rise and set every day from the balcony, Right over the Koi Pond and the swimming pool. Used the gas outdoor grills four nights..really convenient. This was our first trip to Maui and our first time using VRBO. We certainly made a great choice. Fran made the booking process so easy, and was willing to accommodate our late arrival and departure times.
Fran's condo was perfect. The location was ideal, only steps to miles of white sandy beach. In addition it was an easy commute from the airport and other parts of the island. The unit was very clean, nicely decorated and provided everything we needed.
It was so relaxing sitting on the lanai, listening to the sounds of the ocean and watching the sunset.

This was a return visit for us to Sugar Beach. We truly love this place. Fran has done a superb job making us feel so welcome and special here. This truly is Paradise!! The condo is ideally located, not only on the beach, but is in a location that makes it easy to get to other parts of the island. The management staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make sure that Every person staying there is happy and they do intervene to enforce rules that are being violated, as we unfortunately saw a bit of our first 2 days there. Although, everything was handled professionally and appropriately.
The condo itself is very, very beautiful. Everything we needed was there. The bed is so comfy that I didn't want to get up some mornings.
Again, Mahalo Fran for allowing us to share your home. We plan to return again and again and again. Your "Home Away from Home" is a special place.

This was our third vacation to Maui and Sugar Beach. We found Fran's condo on VRBO for our first trip and have never felt the need to look elsewhere. Great condo, close to the beach, pool, hot tub and BBQs. Whales and turtles out the window in the mornings and fantastic sunsets from the deck at night.

Is what I got to say about Fran’s Condo. This was my first time with VRBO, first time in Hawaii, and first time renting a condo. I searched for days and days on Air B&B and VRBO. I wanted a condo on the BEACH, I wanted to wake up and see the beach each morning not one that I had to walk across the street to get to (which many many were) I also wanted a full kitchen, and washer and dryer in condo. Fran’s has all this, the pictures she posted are right one. It took less then a minute to walk to the beach. The condo was very clean, never seen any kind of bug there. My son got married in Maui so he slept on the hideaway one night and said it was very comfortable. The lawn and pool were loaded with nice lawn chairs I never had to hunt for one. Pool was very clean, we seen guys there washing off lawn chairs and cleaning pool every morning. There is and on site person to book you any activity you want to do on the Island. I highly recommend snorkeling it was a blast plus we saw many whales while heading to sites. We never grilled anything while there but there were 6 nice gas grills and a work station to prepare. I could go on and on, we were just sooo happy, in fact Fran if you every sell please let use know.

This was an amazing trip. Our daughter and her fiancé joined us late in the planning so we had already booked this 1 br/bathroom condo. Fran was great about letting me add on the extras. I was a little concerned about the size with 4 of us but we spent so much time on the beach and at the pool it worked out perfectly. The only problem we had was not being able to hook into wifi and I called Fran and she called to let me know how to handle it. It was fixed very quickly. We did a lot of sitting on the lanai in the morning and watched the whales in front of the condo. We also had a perfect view of the pool and coi pond with waterfall. We used the grills a couple of times and everyone was great about sharing. The sunsets from the lanai were also amazing. We are looking forward to planning our next trip and will definitely be staying at sugar beach. Thank you Fran for sharing your condo with us.

My family travels to Maui every winter. We have stayed in Fran's wonderful condo 10 years in a row. We love Sugar Beach Resort. More specifically, we love Fran's condo! The location is superb. We enjoy the beautiful view of the Maui sunsets and a great view of the pool, hot tub and Koi pond too. The condo is always clean and well stocked with all the essentials for a comfortable vacation. I already have next year's vacation booked with Fran!

We can not thank our hostess, Fran, enough for sharing her beautiful condo with us for our stay in Maui. Everything was perfect and ideal. As mentioned in another post I read, the pictures do not show you the tremendous beauty of Sugar Beach and this condo in particular. We fell in love all over again here and also fell in love with Sugar Beach. This condo has the best location (in our opinion). We loved our mornings on the lanai with coffee and our evenings watching the sunset. The beach and pool are lots of fun. Everyone in the units are friendly. We met lots of nice people. I can not find enough words to describe how much we truly loved our stay here. We wish we were still there and are now planning when we can go back. Thank you so much for sharing your piece of paradise. We hope to return soon:) We had the the time of our life and want to thank you again for making our anniversary so much more special.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your condo! The condo was in excellent condition when we arrived, even better than the photos depict. The location of the condo is awesome.....We just had to walk down one flight of stairs to get to the pool or the beach. Sugar Beach is our favorite beach on the entire island. We have stayed at other locations along Sugar Beach in the past, but now we are totally sold on your condo. In fact, we were scheduled to spend the last two days of our vacation at our friend's home Upcountry, but as we were packing to leave our last morning, we realized we did not want to leave. We called Fran to see if the condo was available for the next two nights and, lucky for us, she said the condo was available!! We were thrilled! The location of Sugar Beach Resort is superb for those who want to explore the island. Very centrally located; it was easy to head to any part of the island or to just run into Kihei for groceries, a good restaurant and shopping. There is a fantastic Farmer's Market very close to the Resort. We bought most of our produce and flowers there. We highly recommend staying in this condo. And I can't say enough about how easy and effortlessly it was to work with Fran throughout the entire process! We Will Be Back!!! Mahalo!

We loved the location of this condo in the complex. Being on the second floor allowed us to see the sunset and all the activity of the pool area we also really enjoyed how close the ocean is and the lovely Sugar Beach to walk on. The condo is comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We will come back again as soon as we can.

This resort is clean, friendly and right on the beach. We will definitely will go back. We do wish the property management would enforce their non-smoking policy. Many units were smoking on their decks. Also un-attended children were in the pool often, loud and very noisy past the pool closing time. We have stayed here before and loved our condo and the resort. We will return in the future.

This trip was a first for my wife and I and actually it was our baby-moon before our newborn arrives in April. We loved the place, it was perfect. What really topped off the stay were all the little things Fran had kept in the condo for our use. Notably the picnic cooler. We took it everywhere...whereever we saw beach around the lunch hour we pulled over and enjoyed oceanside eating. We ate in quite a bit, the bbq are was great as well, we had a couple meals there.
The experience was fantastic and our trip equally as good. We are hoping to bring our whole family out to Sugarbeach in the near future. Thanks Fran for your wonderful hospitality, quick and response service.

OMG! We have been coming to Sugar Beach Resort for over 30 years now and this is the fist year my husband and I came all by ourselves. We usually have parents or children with us, but not this time. Our son and daughter in law first stayed in unit #212 on their honeymoon in 2010. Now we stayed here and absolutely loved our stay. So comfy and cozy! It felt like home, in fact we ate in most meals which is a first for us. We cooked breakfast and dinner in the condo most every day. We lit a candle and ate our dinners on the lanai. It was perfect because I am a people watcher and my husband is a water/whale watcher. (Saw a whale and baby on several occasions on this stay) We had the best of both worlds in unit #212.
