Wonderful stay. Open bedroom windows and hear the crashing waves all night long, ahhh💤💤 Beautiful view from the deck watching pods of Dolphins & sunsets. Close to downtown but not to close. Well stocked with snorkel gear, chairs, and umbrellas. Kitchen well stocked, furniture, and bed comfortable.

We knew the view from the lanai was going to be wonderful, but we did not know that we could see & hear the Pacific from the other side of the condo right over our king-size bed. The grounds at this condo building are beautifull and very well maintained. .We enjoyed the pool, chaise lounges with umbrellas, the hot tub, and clean community grills during sunset visits with the neighbors. The condo is well stocked, has a large kitchen and bath, and fantastic beach supplies!

This place is absolutely fantastic! It is so well equipped with all kinds of helpful things for your stay from Boogie Boards to Umbrellas. The location is great. Complex is secure, clean and quiet. The position of the unit allows you to watch the sunset as well as hear the ocean all night long. We will definitely be back!

One of the nicest and best equipped vrbo units that we have stayed in. Had everything that we could need and more. The wonderful owner had prepared a detailed document with information on everything.
Unit itself had a lanai with a gorgeous and peaceful view of the lava rocks and waves . Complex had oceanfront gas grills, oceanfront tables and chairs and the grounds were extremely well maintained.
Hawaii Island itself does not have alot of sandy beaches and although you can swim in the ocean at the condo, it requires climbing over lava rocks with waves crashing on you to get to the ocean. However, many really nice beaches with sand nearby.
We hope to return to visit and will book this unit again in a heartbeat.

We highly recommend this condo. It was perfect for our family and had everything we were looking for in a rental: Jon is very responsive and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. The condo is gated, has plenty of free parking spaces and we felt very safe. Washer/Dryer. Kitchen has fridge with freezer, cookware, utensils, cutlery, dishwasher, etc. Bathroom has hairdryer, soap, shampoo, etc. Sheets, pillows, and blankets were plentiful. Ocean views in the bedroom and living room. Great location near shops, beaches, and other activities. The condo also has plenty of beach chairs, multiple coolers, snorkeling gear, boogie boards. It is on the 2nd floor for those that may have difficulty with stairs.

Fantastic experience end to end......
My wife and I (Mid 50's) spent a few days in the Kailua-Kona area and stayed in Jon's condo on the water. The unit is in great shape, well stocked, close to attractions and best of all, the lanai over looking the water offers up a perpetual array of water crashing into the lava rock and evening sunset views over the water. We were extremely pleased with our stay.
Topping things off, Jon does a great job with communicating. The instructions he provides are super clear and he is very quick to respond to questions.
We would most definitely stay here again if we make our way back to the big island!!

The location on the Kona Coast with waves pounding as you sleep, wonderful mornings on the lanai sipping coffee, the close proximity to hiking, snorkeling, beautiful beaches...all make this a favorite! The other reviews are spot on. This is a great place. The unit was very well stocked and appointed with everything you could want for a vacation. The condo is close to the ocean and has great views from both sides. Awesome sleeping to the sounds of the waves. Loved sitting on the lanai watching dolphins every morning. Thanks for the use of the guide books and all the local info provided. They came in handy. We miss this place already and hope to be back.

The property was as described. The only thing I would suggest is that the shower head be removed bc it hurts! Especially if you have a sunburn lol. I think it would help save the hot water too!
The property is very nicely maintained and the lava rock shore is awesome for exploring and snorkeling. The closet is stock full of beach items too! Everything you could need for a day at the beach. Very convenient and super thoughtful!
There were items left from precious vacationers so it would be wise to check before making a store trip. We brought lotion and all the other toiletries, but there are several bottles of items here, including sunscreen. Save yourself the hassle of packing liquids! If you need to pick up something, there is a target and Walmart close by.
There is also a straightener and hair dryer ladies!

We ranted this apartment for our last minute trip and it couldn't have been better. The communication with the host was quick and easy. Check in process was smooth, the apartment looks even better than the pictures. The best part was by far the sunset from the balcony WOW! There was plenty of parking at the premises. The location was great too, very easy to get everywhere on the island.
The apartment also had everything you need, starting from kitchen appliances (which we didn't have the chance to use) to beach chairs/toys.
I cannot recommend this place enough!

We just finished a 12 day stay here and could easily have stayed another 12. One of our favourite ways to spend our time here is snorkelling in the cove just off Kona Makai. We've seen turtles, octopus, spotted eagle rays, eels and myriads of fish. The spinner dolphins are frequently spotted not far off the cove doing flips and spins in the air. We like the nearness of the Alii Gardens Market and the Farmers Market in downtown Kona. Usually we walk but it's nice to know that you can flag down the Kona Trolley or the Hele-on bus and pay a dollar (seniors' rate) to ride around Kona. We also took it to the Sheraton farther south to check out the beaches in that direction. If you've never come to Kona, what are you waiting for? If you want a convenient place to stay with all the amenities and beautifully landscaped gardens, this is the place for you. We can't wait to return.

Jon’s place has everything you can ask for; towels and chairs for the beach and pool, masks and snorkels (we didn’t use these since we own ours) location, view, extra pillows etc. It is easy to check in. Easy to park. Walking distance to Green Flash coffee- this is a must.- 5 min drive to town or 1 mile walk. We didnt use the pool or hot tub, but, could see the guys cleaning them every day. - Thank you!!

Great sunset views from the deck with ample room for family of 4 to enjoy. Watched dolphins and islanders in team boats every day. Kitchen was just like home with all the amenities. Cool bedroom and living area with sea air blowing thru and AC at night. Great condo!

We enjoyed the wonderful views from both the lanai and out the huge bedroom window. The view out the bedroom window is spectacular. The king size bed is extremely comfortable. We loved falling asleep to the sounds of crashing waves.
The condo is very clean, with a well-stocked kitchen. The condo is also stocked with lots of beach equipment, including chairs, beach umbrella, cooler, etc. The grounds and gardens are well-kept and beautiful. We also appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and the quiet hours. It was nice to be walking distance to Kona.
The owners are easy to communicate with, organized, helpful and friendly. We highly recommend this great condo. We’re looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed in this condo in August when the temperatures were hot and the crowds nonexistent. What a fabulous complex! We loved snorkelling off the rocks where we saw myriads of colourful tropical fish, octopus and giant moray eels. I would happily move to this condo tomorrow. I like that it was somewhat removed from downtown Kona. We enjoyed the walk into town. For those that aren't into walking, there is a shuttle (for $2.00, I think) that has a stop at the next condo complex.
The owners have thought of everything and stocked the closets with all manner of beach equipment. We loved the beach chairs with the pockets that you can carry on your back. Very handy. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. Sunsets were fabulous, the views from the lanai and bedroom were wonderful. Breezes off the ocean were lovely while sitting on the lanai. There's AC for those hot days. We saw whales and dolphins in the cove and mongooses slinking amongst the beautifully kept gardens. The condo was very quiet and relaxing. The saltwater pool was a great place to relax and watch the stars at night. I don't think any improvements need to be made to this condo. It was the perfect vacation spot for my husband and me and we will be booking it again.

We have been traveling to Kona periodically for over twenty years. In August, 2014 we stayed at the Kona Makai complex for the very first time, in this unit. The Kona Makai is now our new favorite place to stay. The location of the unit in the complex is great. We enjoyed the ocean view and sounds from the lanai day and night.
The unit was very clean, well equipped, and nicely updated. It is very well supplied with beach towels, high quality beach chairs, and umbrellas. There were also boogie boards.
The complex as a whole is very nice. The neatly manicured tropical landscaping make the grounds beautiful. The pool is quiet with very nice lounge chairs and large umbrellas. There are also some lounge chairs along the ocean for enjoying ocean sounds, views, beautiful sunsets, and meeting other guests.
The owners were prompt and thorough with every question we had. They also have a binder in the unit with information about beaches, restaurants, activities, and other information about the island. There was a current copy of "Hawaii, the Big Island Revealed." With this book and the owners binder, even repeat Big Island visitors will find some new things to do.
We highly recommend this unit!
