This is an amazing property! It is a truly wonderful location, right at the water’s edge, 4th floor with beautiful views of beach, islands across the ocean, turtles swimming right below, the sound of the waves constantly lulling you, very clean and private, very nice pool and games room. Everything is so close -- market, food trucks, beaches, distance swimming, and best snorkeling on Maui! Kids and I had a great time full of shave ice and sand and we can't wait to come back. Wow, we can not say enough about this condo! We stayed on our honeymoon and was blown away with how beautiful it was!! The beaches were perfect for either swimming or snorkeling, and the view from the Lana had the most stunning sunsets! We cooked most of our meals since there was a grocery store within walking distance but the days we didn’t want to cook, the food truck garden was SO COOL!
The condo was clean and had everything you could ask for! Also Neal was quick and easy to get ahold of for any questions (and SO NICE!).

We have stayed at the Maui Kai many, many times. It is our first choice of a place to stay on West Maui. We found this unit about 5 years ago and have stayed there exclusively. It is a 1-bedroom corner unit with perfect views of the ocean to the west and north. It is clean and very comfortable. Neal is a great guy and very gracious host. Have already booked for April 2024.

Our corner lanai and large dining area window provided amazing views of the beach the ocean an the islands. The open air doors and windows provided the continuous sound of the waves and breezes. It wasn't necessary to go to the beach. You were already there. A wonderful celebration of 45 years of marriage!

Clean, well-equipped property. Has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Views of Lanai and Molokai. Constant Humpback show during whale season(don’t need to go on a boat to watch these whales). Sea turtles graze right off the beach. Epic snorkeling in every direction.

Neal and Vicky are such gracious hosts - I love them! We had a big surprise waiting for us when we arrived- freshly painted walls, new wood laminate flooring, all new living room furniture, yet they are managing to hold on to the vintage vibe of the original space. We have stayed at another Maui Kai room twice before, but this unit has quickly become my favorite. A hui hou, my Hawaiian friends!

This was a good overall stay. First, you can not beat this view and you won’t find a place on Kaanapali this on top of the water. We loved the lanai and could see whales in the morning while having coffee (not provided). The unit has not been updated since built (probably 70’s or early 80’s?). Everything works fine but there is dirt you can not remove without replacing things. Rust on metal doors, the carpets are filthy and this is clearly shown how the carpet looks in non traffic areas versus high traffic areas. Kitchen is small but had everything you needed minus a sponge for washing dishes. While outdated you can tell they clean the best they can. Property is good, pool and hot tub clean and nice. Easy and great beach access. Affordable option if you want to be right on water with good access to all of Kaanapali. Many groceries, food trucks, and restaurants in walking distance. Overall a very nice stay but place could use some sprucing up.

We have visited Maui 4 times and this is now our favorite property. Spectacular ocean views under double rainbows greeted us each morning as we watched turtles and seals splash in the water below the balcony. Neal was a wonderful host, leaving us island treats upon arrival and responding to any questions or needs we had. We are coming back next year and have already booked our 2 weeks! The only problem is we couldn't stay longer!

The 180 degree view on the ocean from 4th floor is spectacular. We even saw a sea turtle swim below our window. It was fantastic to sleep on the balcony with windows open and the sound of the sea in your ears.

You literally can't get any better views. Great location, close to Lahaina without being in all the traffic and crowded areas, which is what I like. Bed was comfy, spacious for 3 people. Only complaint is there is no actual beach in front of the building, the water is too high. Only rocks. You'd have to swim from the rocks a few feet to the beach next door!

We enjoyed our & day vacation here, the owner, Neil was great to work with. This is a corner condo, a little dated and would love to see it updated but it had everything we needed. The view was amazing and we spent a lot of time on the Lanai! Location was great for walks on the boardwalk, restaurants, groceries and a cool food truck area are all within walking distance. Listing, photos, and reviews could not have been more accurate for this property! The views were AMAZING! For being in such a large condo, it was very quiet - no one slamming doors or running around at odd hours! As pretty much everyone has mentioned, the place is dated. But it is also extremely clean! The bed was very large and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, and more than we didn't think we would need! The cooler we found in the closet to bring to the beach was a lifesaver so we didn't have to come back every day for food and more water! I think the shower head was my favorite part! You don't realize how gross you are from sweat and sunscreen all day until you come back to shower and that showerhead just made you feel like you took 10 showers! My husband and I joked about it every day! The only thing I found that really could use some work were the chairs for the beach. One was perfect, but the other two were older and rusty and we had a hard time carrying it and setting it up. Other than that, this was literally perfect and I would totally come back! Thanks to Neal for all his advance communication, as well!

Overall a great bargain for the price. The A/C vents and some of the interior need a deep cleaning. The coffee pot is not working and does keep the coffee hot. The sofa bed on the lanai is broken. It just needs some TLC. A comfortable sofa and a couple of comfortable lounge chairs on the lanai would work wonders!

What a fantastic condo literally feet from the ocean with absolutely fantastic views. The lanai was where we spent most of our time when we were not out exploring Maui’s great sites. Very open and perfect for sunsets, sunrise or watching the full moon over the waters of the Pacific. Added bonus’ were the great local fruit basket, beach chairs and umbrella. Everything you could hope for during our short stay in Maui. Highly Recommended!!

We had such a wonderful stay at this property. The view is spectacular and the condo itself was spacious with lots of character . A/C worked great and the kitchen was well stocked. We were unable to enjoy the beach behind this property but other guests we spoke to said they had a great time snorkeling. We were sad to be leaving and are looking forward to booking here again for any future maui stays .

This is the best view location we have ever stayed in. It is in amazing snorkeling area, directly behind and over a mile going in either direction. We saw lots and lots of fish and multiple turtles every day from the unit and while snorkeling, and also caught some really nice fish right behind the property. Make sure you check to see all the items that are in the unit for your use before going out and renting or purchasing anything. We loved the beach chairs with built-in storage for towels and cooler items. They made our beach visits easy. The kitchen is easy to use and has practically every pot, pan, dish, or any other utensil you can think of. Because it is a corner unit, it has an awesome view of the resort pool area next door from a large picture window and the bedroom as well. Though the unit is older and a bit dated, it makes up with all it has to offer. We saw lots of boats and porpoise as well.

Look, if you are looking for perfectly modern place on the ocean plan to pay upwards of $600+ a night! This place is clean, homey, AC with a comfy Cal King bed. Amazing trade winds blow for a comfortable evening and a phenomenal lanai with panoramic views. I cannot say enough about the location and view! Close to amenities, amazing restaurants and all the shopping you could want in downtown Lahaina. Amazing! Maholo 🌺

The lanai, when open, allowed the trade-winds to keep us cool and content- we used the air conditioner one day of the 7. We felt it was perfect.

Upon arriving the location and description of the property was accurate. Then we started to get settled and noticed some things that weren’t what we expected.
To mention some of the main issues, first, there was a long black hair in the sheets, the place is dusty as all get out. I don’t think it’s been dusted in a very long time. Next, as we started looking in the kitchen and prepping to cook dinner at the condo, we opened one of the utensil drawers in the kitchen and there was a dead moth in there. Needless to say we didn’t use anything in the kitchen after that as it was clear the kitchen was not clean. Although we could have mentioned all this day one we decided to just move on and not use the dirty kitchen and just make the best of it. Then, as we were nearing the end of our stay, as I was sitting in the living room I glance down and see someone else’s disposable face mask on the ground under the side table near the couch in the living room. This mask was not any of our masks as we don’t use the disposable kind. It was then that I realized that this place just isnt clean. I just made a mental note to deep clean ourselves and everything we take home when we get home. So, prior to writing this review I messaged the owner Neal to let him know how everything went. My intention was not to leave a bad review but Neal never got back to me, I even messaged him pictures of all the dirtiness. I gave Neal 24 hours to respond and then it was clear he didn’t care and wasn’t going to respond.
This place was older and dated. That didn’t bother me. It was how dirty it was that took it. Seriously. Soooooo dirty.

4. Someone else face mask still in the property
5. Crumbs in the cupboards
Again, if you want somewhere clean, book direct through another owner at Maui Kai as the location is great. The pool is great. This property owner not so much. We still had a wonderful vacation and enjoyed the location of the condo. It a bummer he charges 200 a night and a 100 cleaning fee for that price I would expect the place to actually be clean.

This was our 3rd and favorite stay in the Maui Kai. We love the Maui Kai location and this corner unit made it even more special. The views are incredible to the West and the North, and the owners Neal and Vicky are warm and friendly. As others have also said, they provided a very nice fruit basket that also included yummy Hawaiian chips and cookies. This place has a vintage feel which you either appreciate or not. If you only like new and fancy resorts, this is probably not the place for you. But if you really understand the Aloha spirit, then you will have a lovely, comfortable, and relaxing time here. We hope to be back again soon!

The views are amazing, probably the best on Maui but in all honesty it would really benefit from some updating in areas. The bathroom is need more than the rest. So easy. That's what a vacation home should be. Neal's place is exactly that. Parking and location are easy. Check in is easy because there isn't one LOL. The bed was comfy. We have a sleep by number bed back home and I would equate the mattress with a 30 out of 100 for the stiffness factor. It's very soft and we slept very well because we keep our number about 35-40 anyway. My 18 year old daughter slept on the sleeper sofa and said it was very comfy too. Plenty of extra blankets and pillows as well. There was an oscillating fan in the closet and I used it in the bedroom because I am from Texas and am used to a ceiling fan moving at all times, so I'm glad I found the fan. There is no ceiling fan in the condo. The kitchen is nicely stocked. We didn't cook this time, but I could have easily cooked a meal with what's there. The air conditioner worked great and it was always comfortable in the condo. Neal has provided two awesome beach chairs and a cooler in the closet. I even saw a beach umbrella, but we didn't use it because I've had too many incidents with fly away umbrellas- just too windy. If you face the ocean, go left out of the complex. The beach to the left is incredible. GREAT snorkeling. My daughter saw an octopus, puffer fish, 2 eels, etc. We got up and she snorkeled the last morning we were there before we had to check out. Trying to get the last few drops of Hawaii in before we had to go! LOL We dove 3 days while we were there, took the full loop around Hana (still saw stuff we hadn't seen before- I recommend getting one of the cool Apps like Shaka Maui) So we were not in the condo very much, but it was a great stay and I would def stay here again.

My husband and I enjoyed staying at this Maui condo. The owners are very kind and willing to help in any way they can. They left an wonderful fruit basket for us to enjoy. What a special and delicious treat! The ocean view is absolutely breathtaking from the lanai! The sunsets are beautiful. We even saw a green sea turtle swim by one afternoon. The condo itself is older, but it was kept very clean and tidy. The furnishings were cozy and had a traditional Hawaiian feel. It was equipped with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The beach chairs and cooler were a huge plus. The location of the condo is very close to our favorite beaches which made it quick and easy to explore Kaanapali and the surrounding areas. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would love to come back! Thank you for sharing your place with us.

First time in Maui and got a wonderful place to stay, ocean view practically out of every window!! Neal is great very helpful and quick to respond and has the place stocked with almost everything you need!! Place is just like pictures except TV is bigger, newer :) very cozy and feels like home the moment you walk in!! We are already planning another trip!!
