Our condo has been recently remodeled and is stunning! One bedroom with king size bed and a queen sleeper sofa with memory foam mattress in the living room.

The reef in front of our building is one of the premier kitesurfing and windsurfing areas on Maui. When the wind is blowing, you are in for quite a show! One of the best surfing beaches on Maui is also within walking distance. It takes a North or Northwest swell for S-Turns to work it's magic for surfing! S-Turns has both left and right break and has a sandy bottom. A typical NW swell produces 4-6 foot waves that are perfect for longboarding. This is rare on Maui!

Fortunately, our condo was not affected by the fires in Lahaina. There are still restaurants, grocery stores, and amenities within walking distance to our condo. Front Street Lahaina is approximately 8 miles from the condo and Ka'anapli Beach/Whalers Village is approximately 6 miles from the condo.

☆ Sorry, no check-in on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year's Day. You'll have to book and check on the day before or after the Holiday. Our Cleaning Company gives their employees the day off. Thank you for your understanding.

NO SMOKING in condo or on Lanai. Smoking only in designated areas outside (in parking lot next to the street). Failure to follow this rule will result in forfeiture of your damage deposit.


Maintenance and Service Issues

Renters understand and agree that from time to time owner's maintenance staff and other contractors may enter the condo. When you leave, leave the keys in the unit. Please do not turn off or unplug the wireless Internet. If anything is broken, needs repair or you can’t find something you think should be there, please contact us.


Air Conditioning

There is no air conditioning in ANY of the 88 condos in our building. It is really not necessary in this area of the island.

We are fortunate to be in an area of the island that gets the tradewinds VERY reliably which keeps the condo at a nice temperature - usually 70-74 degrees. We bought this condo because of the area knowing that the west Maui trades blow through here. Electrical power is about 5x what it is on the mainland so choosing a location like this instead of Kihei or Lahaina where the temperatures average 10-15 degrees warmer makes a huge difference in affordability for both us and our guests.

However, there are times when the wind doesn't blow. It's rare but does happen. It's tropical here and a bit different than what you're probably used to. The temperature averages between 70-82 F during the day. It is pleasant but not stifling humid heat! We have personally experienced about 3-5 "uncomfortable" days in the five years we've been in the area so we don't want to tell you it can't happen.

We do have fans in the living room and the bedroom although we rarely use them.


BUG SPRAYING

Our Home Owners Association (HOA) for our condominium complex contracts for pest control spraying on a quarterly basis, typically the first Wednesday of February, May, August and November. Termites are the biggest problem in Hawaii and do the most amount of damage in a relatively short amount of time.

Maui is a tropical location and has a lot of unwelcome bugs; ants, termites, spiders, roaches, mosquitos, etc. The pest management company uses “safe” pesticides to treat for these bugs. The pesticides used are water based, “pet safe” and approved for application in food handling establishments. The pest management company usually posts a notice a about a week before they are on site, near the elevators and stairwells to let residents know the date and time that pesticides will be applied.

Keep all service animals and children out the area during the treatment and until the product has dried – usually about 10-15 minutes. By renting our condo, you acknowledge and accept the application and use of pesticides and insecticides on the property and within our unit. As a condition of renting our unit you will provide access to our unit when the application is scheduled. Failure to allow access to the pest management company will result in a fee of $75.00 for the pest management company to return at a later date. You will be responsible for this fee if you do not allow the pest management company access to our condominium.

If you’re at all concerned about the treatment and spraying for pests/bugs, you should consider other accommodations. Bugs are everywhere in Hawaii and almost every hotel, condominium and Homeowners Association requires treatment to ensure the protection of their home and property.
Cleaning Service

Your stay includes a cleaning service after you check out. If you desire cleaning during your stay you will need to contact Trinity Maid Service directly and make these arrangements on your own. You can contact Trinity at: 808-667-6938


Beach Gear

There are usually some beach chairs, body boards, snorkels, fins, sand toys, coolers and other stuff that you are welcome to use. This stuff is usually out on the lanai. There should be at least 4 beach towels in the condo too.

The stand up paddle boards at the north end of the condo are individually owned by others in the condo complex. Unfortunately they are not available for use.


Parking

We are allowed one parking space for our condo. If you have more than one vehicle, you will need to make your own arrangements to park the extra vehicle(s). Parking permits are required, please fill out and leave on dashboard. Fill out dates of arrival and departure on the temporary parking permit


Washer/Dryer

The Washing Machines and dryers are behind the office on the ground floor. Please clean up after yourself in laundry room after every use. Sand goes in trash, not down drain or in washers. Clean lint trap. You will need quarters to operate these appliances. The great news is that you can usually do an entire weeks worth of laundry all at once with all these washers and dryers at your disposal.

We had an incredible first trip to Maui and loved our stay at the perfectly furnished and gorgeous condo. The views from the lanai exceeded expectations and was such a treat to have a beach to access right from our doorsteps. Amazing beaches nearby and many, many turtles we got to see from both the lanai and in the water. Truly a special and most relaxing trip!

We’re vrbo owners ourselves and would highly recommend this beautiful ocean view property on Maui. The unit is nicely renovated throughout and was very comfortable for us and our two young kids. We especially appreciated and made good use of the beach chairs, umbrella, and boogie board equipment that’s available in the unit. We thought the outside of the building needed a little sprucing up, but the unit itself was impeccable. Everything was perfect. The view should be rated a 5++, great turtle watching, good grocery stores close and the instructions from the owner were spot on as to weather and cooling the unit.

We really liked the condo overall except for a few minor issues inside the condo such as no ironing board and no chip clips and a hazardous (upturned corners to trip on), dirty carpet in the kitchen. Otherwise nice condo. Our issues started with the owner (Rhett), upon arival on Valentines Day after a very long travel day. The condo has a keyless combination code as a door lock. We entered the code and got it to work (have to coordinate turning the handle at same time as twisting knob), after a few tries right at 3 PM. We dropped off a few items and headed back down to the car for our luggage. This time the code would not work. I called both Rhett and his wife and left VM messages. It was raining and we were left outside. Finally Rhett called us and after many attempts with at least 4 different codes we got in. A few minutes later we tested the code again and the code didn't work. At no time did Rhett apologize for the inconvenience. Instead he complained about having to take our call while being on the side of the road. At this point we were exhausted, been rained on and extremely hungry/thirsty. We needed to get food but couldn't risk not being able to get back in. Rhett finally agreed to send out a locksmith after complaining that "he had to pay for an emergency call", who arrived roughly an hour and half later than when we were told. Locksmith changed 3 batteries, lubricated the lock and said that there WAS an issue with the clutch mechanisim. We ended up testing the lock/code with the locksmith for over 30 min. He said parts needed to be ordered. There was a problem. Things happen- we get that. But, Rhett could've handled the situation much better. A few days later the fire alarm went off for no reason (not been cooking, etc), and we were foreced to call Rhett. His friend came over quickly to help and chatted us up for a long time. We told him we liked the condo, but not Rhett's handing of the lock issue. He said that Rhett was an entrepreneur who owned 6 ice cream shops in Seattle. He was surprised at Rhett's lack of customer service and that he had never apologized and been rude. He seemed ernest and even insisted on shaking hands on behalf of his friend. The next day Rhett called us as we were on a serene hike and started yelling. Said he had never experienced such drama (which is insane), and that we should leave even know we only had 3 nites left. So much for his friend's account. Too bad.

We stayed in Rhett and Maria's condo at Kahana Reef for 10 nights. Everything was perfect! A+A+A+A+A+A+ The only way you can closer to the ocean was to be on a boat!! When searching for a place to stay on Maui, so should put this condo HIGH on your list. If not, you're missing something special. Rhett recently remodeled every aspect of the condo. He did a fabulous job! A great part of staying here was everything was provided for you: beach chairs, snorkels, mask, towels, etc. All you do is show up! The pictures are right on. The bed was first class, comfy+ Lots of good restaurants and beaches close by. Thanks!

This place was really above and beyond our expectations. The balcony is larger than I thought - and it was perfect for having coffee in the morning! We saw whales and sea turtles right from the balcony (on a daily basis - the whales are everywhere this time of year). The condo was well stocked. There were 2 coolers we could use, beach towels, binoculars, books. The kitchen was well stocked. Laundry was downstairs and easy to get to and use. It’s a nice late open air laundry room. The washer and dryer take payment via an app on your phone (as well as change) which was very convenient. There is a grassy lawn and brekawall directly in front of the condo with a lot of chairs (beach chairs) which was very nice. There is also a community (nice and clean) grill on the lawn area. There is a beach directly next door - with a very small walk (a few feet) and about 6 steps to get to it. It’s very easy to get to the from the back yard of the condo. If you want to snorkel there are several beautiful beaches nearby. Our favorite was Kapalua beach. It’s very shallow - and there are coral and fish inches from the beach. Very colorful and beautiful snorkeling - we even saw a few sea turtles. The condo was quiet at night - parking was not a problem at all. It was very clean, the bathroom was nice, new and beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were better than most hotels I’ve stayed at. Overall it was very impressive! If we come back to Maui we would definitely stay here again.

Maria’s property has been recently updated and has an outstanding ocean view a stone throw from the water. In season, you can spot whales and turtles from the balcony. It is conveniently located near Kapalua with easy access to West Maui beaches, activities, and restaurants. Thank you Maria for sharing your lovely home with us!

What a wonderful condo complex. Centrally located with fabulous beaches minutes away. The unit is well appointed with everything need for a comfortable stay. The best lawn in Hawaii. Comfortable king bed. The view is unbeatable, turtles and lizards right out front provide endless hours of entertainment. Can't wait to stay there again

The pictures you see are what you are going to experience! I traveled with my two best friends and we had the best time! We stayed 9 nights and didn't want to leave. The condo was spotless and the kitchen was well stocked. The owners also provided beach towels, beach chairs, umbrella and snorkeling gear. Maria was very responsive and great to deal with! She provided a long list of places to eat, hike and explore. We referred to that list daily! We spent many hours in the lanai watching sea turtles frolic in the water. While sitting on the lanai you will feel that you are staying in one of those huts on the water as immediately in front of the condo is a rock wall and the water always comes all the way up. We could of easily thrown a rock in the water from our lanai. The sunsets were so beautiful! There is a beach just steps from the condo. There are also some fantastic snorkeling beaches just minutes from the condo. The owner was spot on about Maui Brewing company. We went there 3 times during our visit as it was so close and the food and beer were excellent and reasonable priced. I would avoid The China Boat restaurant. We are there one night and was so disappointed with the service and the food. Opposite of that, we are at Mamas Fish House located about 50 minutes from the condo. If you have the opportunity, eat there! This by far is the best restaurant that I have ever eaten at. The location, service and food were amazing! Reservations are a must. Just be aware that it is pricey but so worth it! If you want to have a serene, breathtaking view of the ocean, fall asleep to the waves crashing and wake up to birds chirping this is the place for you. We can't wait to stay here again!!

This property is amazing! The forward-thinking owners provided us with everything we needed for a relaxing visit. The unit has been recently remodeled and it is breath-taking. The building is safe, secure and very clean. I hesitate to say too much because we want another week open for us in the future, but this property is a jewel!

Location was terrific - remote and quiet yet very close to the action of Lahaina and Kaanapali. View from the condo is spectacular and provides lots of interest. Walked to Maui brewery and coffee shop. Doesn't get any better than that.
