I have stayed at the Maui Sunset since 1995. The Maui Sunset has always been a great property and a great location. I have stayed in over 18 units. I have found that all the units are very nicely decorated some better than others, but overall nice. This particular unit had nice furnishings and a nice view from the fifth floor. I enjoyed the electronic door lock, not having to keep up with a key, I was very partial to the redo of the guest bathroom a great choice in the tile work. It was nice to have an updated washer and dryer that actually worked. We always go out around five to watch the sunset. It was nice having the Tommy Bahama chairs instead of a towel it made the viewing more comfortable. Overall the unit was clean the air condition worked but on most occasions didn’t need it ,a nice appointed kitchen for those that need it, a new washer and dryer and a nice view from the fifth floor. I would definitely recommend this unit to myself and future renters. For those planning a trip and plan to eat out make sure you make reservations at the more nicer restaurants, due to the fires. Oversight on my part and we had to wait up to two hours to eat. FYI.

The place is beautiful to stay at, filled with all the amenities you need to cook and live here. King bed is very comfortable. If something is needed or missing just call Rentals Maui and they will fix or bring what you need asap. The view is beautiful from the balcony. We walked the beach south of Maui Sunset for an hour every morning. Saw large sea turtles on the beach. Sunset brings many many turtles up on the beach. So fun! There was live music Wednesdays on the lawn, it was great listening with a glass of wine on our balcony.We just rebooked for the spring for the same place, our third time in this unit. We love it here! Don't hesitate to book with Rentals Maui they are wonderful to work with! Thank you, Kathy, Cassandra and all the staff at Rentals Maui!

I am a condo timeshare owner at the Maui Sunset as well. Over all The Maui Sunset is a great place to stay as it is centrally located, close and walking distance to many stores and restaurants. A509 has ants in the unit ( we bought ant killer, then noticed there was some under the sink, so possibly a reoccurring problem). The refrigerator gave us some trouble with not being cool enough - and there are explicit instructions on how to keep the refrigerator/freezer working. I think it’s hard when you own your timeshare to rent, but do not get there enough to see or fix the problems. Otherwise very clean and suited our group well.

Sunset Maui is close enough to have options for food, shopping and entertainment yet away from most of the congestion of Kihei. The apartment and grounds were as advertised. The staff was very friendly and the public areas were all spotless. Some restaurants were walk-able, others required a short drive.

The property has beach and park access.
Bathrooms are small, so not made for big people. The other bathroom doesnt have a curtain but a glass partition, that is not sufficient to keep water in.

The place was great, exactly as described. Didn’t spent much time in the unit as we we’re exploring. Only issue we found was with the checkin. They are very strict on the checkin hours, we arrived an hour early and were told to wait until 4 even though the unit was ready and clean. This is the last thing you want to hear after a long flight and just want to rest. I’ve never had a rental this strict.

Maui Sunset A-509 is a comfortable and spacious place to stay. Most of the comforts of home are included - a fully equipped kitchen, laundry in the room, 2 bath, separate A/C units in the main living area and bedroom, 2 TV and comfortable living area. Partial ocean view. Beach chairs, umbrella and ice chest are included. The grounds are large and very well maintained with outdoor recreation activities and game supplies included as well as a large pool. Family orientated and great for couples as well.

Building was dated although it showed pride in ownership, grounds were immaculate and unit owner had made improvements. The condo was just what expected for the two of us. enough space to move around and relax, a terrific lanai with great views, and everything we needed for a day at the beach. The property itself was terrific. Beautiful grounds, expansive beaches for long walks, convenient BBQ grills that are well maintained, and even a live concert on Wednesday! The pool area was great for hanging out and the concierge service onsite was really helpful in planning tours. Maui Sunset is well placed with access to the island north and south and convenient for restaurants and grocery shopping.

When we come to Maui, which is usually every year, we always stay at the Maui Sunset. We love the balcony with beautiful ocean views and try and rent a unit as far up and close to the ocean as possible. We also prefer the “A” side of the complex because during the winter months that’s the side that is mostly in the sun vs the “B” side which is mostly in the shade. This is a very nice unit, it was clean, had a great view of the ocean and was very comfortable. A/C was a bit noisy in the bedroom but if you plan right you can cool the room down at night and turn the unit off while sleeping and just use the overhead fan. I would rent this unit again.

My friend and I found the unit to be a perfect for us! It was clean and updated. The decor was very nice! The kitchen was well stocked and we appreciated having two full baths and we utilized the washer & dryer. We arrived after 10 pm and the check in process was seamless! We enjoyed the beautiful view overlooking the lush lawn and beautiful pool area! We even had a peak view of the sea! Highly recommend!

During our stay the day the pool was closed for the entire day. I looked on the app that was to be used for updates and there was no message as to why the pool was closed. With limited time at the resort, it was a disappointment that the pool was closed and no notification as to when it re open. We were looking forward to our last day in Maui, spending it at the pool relaxing.

The property was all it was advertized as. It was clean, well cared for, and had a great ocean view from the 5th floor. Looking left from our lanai, we could watch the sun coming up over Haleakala, looking right, we could watch the sun go down over the ocean, though we preferred the short walk across the grounds to sit on the beach. The location makes it easy to get to any of the island. A wonderful place to enjoy a wonderful island.

Have been exchanging and renting here since 2018 and return every year except for COVID-19 2020. Really need to stay two weeks to situate and enjoy. Folks are friendly and the accommodation in A 509 worth the cost. Enhanced equipment and upgraded cable channels and telephone coverage. Only barren area is the supplies and kitchen staples. While a spice rack was okay there was no sugar or oils. Maybe because guests left over items on prior visits we had or due to different housekeeping taking all excess left overs on this unit it’s hard to manage with one toilet paper in each bathroom and one set of towels. As always we got the Rental Maui heads up but were elated to see left over staples like Kleenex and cooking items each time before. Last point is that the gym is still locked tight despite Vaccinations and boosters. Liked the A bldg due to sunset and viewing.

We had a great stay at this condo. It had all the things we needed. Ample supply of dishes and plenty of space. The view is great from the balcony, it's a very short walk to the beach, and there are pickleball courts a short walk away. There are 4 beach chairs to use and I think an umbrella, but we never used that. There is also a decent sized little soft sided cooler to use as well. If you are trying to figure out where the tv is in the pics, it's inside the cabinet in the living room. We never used it either, too much to do in Hawaii.
There are now 2 nice adult sized boogie boards for your use. We added one to the existing board that was already there. If we were to stay in Kihei again, we would not hesitate to see if this unit was available.
As others have mentioned, it's not a great beach for swimming or boogie boarding but all the other beaches are a short drive away. Sunsets are amazing and there is usually a mass exodus out of the units to go sit on the beach and watch them.
One of the closet doors was damaged before we got there and we were notified before we even got in the unit. Communication with the rental company was great. Nice to know they are responsive in case something did happen. Enjoy your stay here.

I loved this place! Great for honeymoon! Even being on the top floor was amazing! The only thing was, the check in process was a little confusing and I had no communication with anyone prior, but we were able to figure it out! Just make sure to read instructions thoroughly! Booked several Condo's at the Maui Sunset for family and friends that flew from California to attend our wedding at Gannon's Wailea which was only 15 minutes away. I choose this place as many of the local's live near and also walking distance to several restaurants & shops which is perfect if you did not have a car rental.

We absolutely loved our rental place. It’s on the top floor of the unit and has amazing beach and volcano side views. The place was clean and the mirrors helped make the space look large and roomy. Super easy to find parking as well. And the room came with extra accessories like a speaker, beach chairs, and a cooler! I would definitely stay here again on my trip to Maui!

The condo was clean, well stocked, fully functional, with no surprises. The sofa bed was comfortable, the living area roomy and the 2nd bathroom a big plus. Pool was great and the grounds very beautiful and well maintained., BBQ grills cleaned every morning.. Beach was clean and easy accessible, water was very calm, great for little children. Beach had a heavy presence of coral so you had to watch where you walked if you were barefooted. Highlight of the beach out front of the condo was the sight of a monk seal sunning herself one morning. Our stay was great and so were the accomodations.

We were visited multiple times by a beautiful Green parrot we named Gonzo... only to realize when we saw him on multiple other patios that he was a hustler haha! Grounds were immaculate, every member we met was wonderfully polite and helpful. Shuffleboard and tennis equipment was free and easy to grab. Saw a beautiful turtle right on the beach in front. This VRBO is definitely going to the top of my favorites list!
