Isaac is a superb host! Guest studio was clean, comfortable and exceeded our expectations. Location is fantastic - we flew to Kona with folding bicycles, did not rent a car and spent 2 fabulous weeks as Issac’s guests.

We could see a bit of the ocean from the chairs by the window. We could definitely hear the ocean at night which was a real treat.

A lovely bedroom with good light, comfy chairs, decent bathroom, no real kitchenette though you can cobble together self catering with what’s provided. Snorkeling and beach gear provided!

Isaac was super responsive and helpful. We found everything we needed and he gave us supportive advice. Being at this island for the first time this was so helpful! We also felt comfortable at the place and slept well. The animals living in the back yard do give it a special touch.

Isaac was an incredible host!! Very informative and accommodating. The property was super fun and had everything that we needed. Our studio had screened walls and the birds/frogs were super loud a few nights but there were ear plugs available in the "community supplies" area. All the rooms that we peeked into were beautiful and I'd totally go back and stay in any of the rooms at Palm Hale.

Really a motel room. House divided into 4 or 5 rooms with baths. The picture appears to show a balcony, but there is none. Best thing was the sound of the ocean at night. Gives you a really peaceful sleep.

December 2024
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apparment is small, but so close to great snorkeling, that is easily within walking distance. You can see the ocean, but over the roof top of a near-by house. There are other rental properties surrounding you, so depending on who may be renting, that noise level could vary. Quiet during our stay and the host, Issacs was very helpful.

December 2024
Loved the location! Room nice and clean.

Ideally located between Kona and Keahou, with easy walking to both Magic Sands and Kahalulu beaches. Room is traditional style (screened) studio and very comfortable. Various water gear, coolers, chairs, boogie boards, wetsuits available to borrow. Overall, great value!

Isaac's rental units are easy going with a family atmosphere to it. The house is in a living neighborhood so you don't have the feeling of being among tourists - you get to experience a local green neighborhood full of cool plants and rich with birds. It's also conveniently placed to just walk to some of the best Kona Coast beaches within few minutes. Isaac is a great and super friendly communicator and clearly keep his house and the plants in great shape. We will be coming back!

Isaac has a lovely little studio. Its airy, cheery and well located. I did see one cockroach but it ran away and I wasn't too bothered by it. My biggest issue was because there are no windows that can be closed, which is lovely for air flow, really is a detriment when some sort of animal is screaming at full pitch all night and you can't close the windows. Didn't sleep a wink all night which was unfortunate. Without that tortured cat, I would have given it 5 stars.

Just outside the crowds of Kona downtown this place had everything we needed for a great stay on Big Island. The open air feel was perfect for cool nights and we could even see whales breaching from our room. Would recommend and stay again.

March 2024
We had a great stay! The location was great - There is a street that runs parallel to the beach. The house is on a street that is perpendicular to this street and just several houses up. The room is spacious. Very clean. I liked the open concept. The temperature in the room was great throughout the day and evening during our stay in March. THere is a hotplate and a microwave and nice sized refrigerator. No need to bring beach gear - there are towels, beach chairs, snorkel gear etc. THere was a definite "Hawaiian" vibe. We would definitely stay here again.

Bob A.
March 2024
Accommodations included everything you need including beach chairs, coolers, beach towels, snorkeling gear and an array of spices for cooking. I really didn't need to bring anything. Location was great; good snorkeling and beaches just down the road in either direction. Quiet neighborhood but less than 10 minutes to downtown Kahaluu. Isaac was great including letting me in at 11:30 pm when I locked myself out. I would definitely return.

February 2024
It was my Wife and I, we stayed for a week. It was really good as it was just off the ocean and in the morning you could look out the window and the one morning we saw Whales diving down. You are within 1 km of really good snorkeling and walking distance to Magic for good food or an end of evening cocktail. Bed was comfortable and the hot plate worked well for making our morning breakfast. Full size fridge was nice and they have frying pans and everything else you need. Parking was good and there is roaming cats, chickens and ducks. We were up early everyday and with the one side only being a screen you can here other people leaving and all the wildlife in the area. I would stay again as we didn't want to be in the tourist area especially when the cruise ships come in.

Julie L.
February 2024
Location is great - close to beaches and short distance from downtown. Very helpful information from property manager! We enjoyed the use of the snorkeling equipment available at the VRBO with a great snorkeling beach only a mile or so away. Very clean. Noise does carry and other guests were respectful of these rules during our stay. Parking was in a great spot and off the street. Would recommend this place to others!

Nice spot around Kona for a homebase while we explored the area and did some snorkeling. Comfortable to hang out in and we loved the airy feel.

January 2024
This was a great place to stay for a few days. Wished we could have stayed longer. The Queen Palm was bright, airy, comfortable, and very clean. Would love to come back!

We were very pleased with location. Enjoyed hearing the ocean and birds. Isaac was very helpful. There were beach chairs, rafts and Gins and googles available.

Kathy M.
December 2023
Everything was as was shown. The room is light and bright and has everything we needed. The regular sized fridge was really appreciated as well as the beach things. We didn't need anything while there so didn't need to contact the manager. We were able to walk to a good snorkeling beach. We loved the open air feel of the place.

Karen R.
December 2023
The room was clean with a full sized refrigerator and microwave. The owner is kind enough to share beach chairs and toys with his occupants. There’s a coin operated washer dryer. Enough free parking. The only thing I was surprised by is on one side of the room, the windows are only covered by screens and not glass. But it was fine since we needed the ventilation. Also, I think he keeps chickens since they are behind the parking lot. So we were awakened every morning about 6:30am with chicken noises. No roosters.

Perfect spot to lay your head. It has everything you need. Close enough yet far enough from the hustle and bustle. Would stay here again.

October 2023
Great studio, perfect if you are going to be out and about enjoying the beauty of Hawaii. If you need a full kitchen rent the larger suite. Perfect if you are doing simple one pot meals and enjoying the excellent dining options down on the pier. Excellent host! Made our first experience with Vrbro excellent. I would not hesitate to rent from this host in the future.

In between great surfing and good snorkeling. This is a great spot for a base camp. Not to far from the city and very quiet, very relaxing. I would recommend this place for any couple that plans on visiting the island and tour the island.

August 2023
Isaac was great and very responsive to any questions I had. You can't beat the price and location. Just minutes away from many beaches and main town. There is also marketplace just around the corner and at the edge of Kona itself. Can't say enough about what a measure it was to find a great place for that price. Mahalo.

July 2023
Great property with cozy studio accommodations. Very clean with extras when available. We were offered fresh chicken eggs during our stay and used a cooler one day for a potluck we had with friends. Great view of the ocean and very quiet area day and night. There are stairs though if you are elderly but manageable.

April 2023
Kona is beautiful but lodging is very expensive. Although the offer is huge, sometimes rental conditions are not clear. I was really satisfied with this rental. The space is kind, everything works, and although it is not luxury lodging, it was very comfortable and quiet.

March 2023
This was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the sounds of the water and birds. The studio had all that one person would need to prepare meals, shower, sleep, and relax. It had a great view of the ocean - got to experience sunsets and watch canoes and boats. I love the chickens and ducks running around the property - quite the characters. I would 100% come back here. It was easy to get to the main Hwy for road trips. The parking was great (alway had a secure spot). I also enjoyed taking walks up and down Alii drive. Thank you Isaac for an amazing visit!

March 2023
The Queen Palm was ideal for me. I loved the partial view of the ocean. The windows are just screens which means that you get a delicious breeze, except for the windows behind the bed -- those have glass and screens. Decor is super tasteful, too. I felt very comfortable and safe. More impressions: + very comfy bed + Clean! Clean! Clean! + lots of extras -- good shampoo/conditioner, boogie boards & fins, books about Hawaii, coffee maker & dishes.... + Location! an easy 15-minute walk (or 3 minute car ride) to Kahaulu'u Beach -- wonderful snorkeling and swimming. Also easy walk or drive to Magic Sands Beach. Very closer to the shopping center (grocery store, Long's Drugs, cinema, bookshop, shaved ice, etc.) Close to Kauohou Bay, too. + Laundry on-site. Bring quarters. There's laundry detergent available. :-) + Two large ceilings fans provided excellent air circulation + There's a lot of beach goodies for use -- towels, sunscreen, boogie boards, fins, pool noodles, coolers, etc. + Loved that there's a patch of "rainforest" next door -- I woke up to the most beautiful chorus of birds :-) + On-site parking + Did not hear noise from the other guests -- property is quiet And....Isaac is a gracious, hospitable host. :-) Things to consider: - This is a studio, so it's ideal for 1 - 2 people. - Kitchenette means hot plate, microwave, kettle, and coffee maker. There's a BBQ outside. - No big table for eating. I was fine drinking my tea and eating in one of the chairs next to the coffee table, but others might not. It's a studio, so there's not room inside, but there is a large picnic table outside next to the BBQ. - It's round the corner from Ali'i Drive, so there's some traffic noise, but not much...and I'm a light sleeper I would stay with Isaac again in a heartbeat. It was great!

Loved the location and the relaxing, quiet atmosphere! The view is amazing. Watched kayaking and various boats in the morning while waking up!

December 2022
There really is nothing I would change. The place was so comfortable and quiet. Of course a direct ocean view would have been awesome but I soon discovered that Hawaii is WAY more expensive than foreign destinations. So although relatively expensive for a studio, this place was a fair value for the Big Island. Close to diving and the airport but you will need a car to really take everything in. That ran me another shocking$1000 for just 9 days. Back to the place— everything worked! Washer/dryer convenient. Lots of hot water. Wonderful two walls of all screen to let in ocean sounds and bird chirps. Massive storm came through and no water got in Power went out but was restored and everything thing came back up as normal - tv and internet- no glitches. Would be nice to have a broom and dust pan for the tile floor. But really no other things are needed. Owner did it up right and I would certainly return without hesitation

Property was clean, comfortable and accurate to the pictures. Check in / check out was easy and host was responsive and eager to help. Great location for walking to beach or snorkeling. Short drive to stores and restaurants. Easy access to downtown or roads to take you exploring

November 2022
Isaac was very friendly and accimodating. The room was airy, but still with privacy. The neihborhood was quiet at night and the property was next to a jungle section, so it was very quiet. The open nature of the room allowed it to be cool enough to sleep with the fans going. Overall a good experience.

*for those on the GO! If you are like me... and all you need is a comfy place to sleep, a fridge, simple kitchen needs and off-street parking, then this is the place for you. The room was clean, the building quiet and the security of very convenient off-street parking was a plus. The WiFi was good enough for me to stream entertainment and the room/apartment was plenty large enough. The wonderful Big Island provided the rest. Isaac is an excellent property manager and he was very quick to answer my calls and respond to my texts. Also an affable guy to chat with as well! Highly recommend this location for the seasoned traveler and folks who understand life on the Big Island.

Loved my second floor retreat! So comfortable, everything necessary, watching evening sunsets, morning kayak launches, falling asleep to the surf sounds. Isaac (manager) so helpful. If I need a Kona-side stay-cation again, I hope it will be here.

June 2021
My friend and I decided on a last minute trip to Kona and stumbled upon Isaac’s place. Waking up to the warm Hawaii breeze and birds chirping was just what I needed for vacation. The condo is within walking distance to the beach and a few short miles to downtown. It really is a steal for what you get! Isaac was always available to answer questions and provided the necessities for our stay. Everything was clean and neighbors during our stay were quiet. It’s the perfect place to stay for some peace and quiet! We loved every minute and can’t wait to come visit again. Thank you Isaac for being such an awesome host!

June 2021
The room was wonderful and in a great location. It was very easy to book and Isaac was very attentive.

May 2021
Walk to Magic Sands beach and 12 minute drive to downtown Kona. Quiet neighborhood. The Queen Palm room is on the 2nd floor and basically a screened in Lanai. Nice breeze comes through at night. Entire place was clean. Bathroom with tub is nice. Kitchenette with full size fridge was appreciated. Great place, we would stay here again.

February 2021
Had a great stay here. Isaac was very attentive, answering questions that came up as we got settled in. We love the area and always try to stay within walking distance of Magic Sands. This fit the bill and had the added benefit of being a little off Ali'i, helping with traffic noise. Love the busy chickens running around outside and the open air feel of the place. Cooking facilities are limited (hot plate and microwave) but adequate for what we needed.

Jenn H.
February 2021
Nothing but good things to say about this space. Airy and bright. Birdsong in the morning...Ocean waves at night. Friendly neighbors. You might even see a shooting star from the comfort of your bed. A peek of the sea and swaying palm trees made just sitting and doing nothing, a pleasure. It just felt good here, and I’d def book again when I’m on Island again.

April 2018
David's queen palm studio is in a very convenient location, minutes from two good beaches and a super short drive from Kailua Town or a handy shopping center. The open-air space was fresh and inviting with a nice view of the ocean. David also was kind enough to provide snorkeling and beach gear for our use. Next time I'm on the Big Island, I will definitely be looking to stay at David's again.

Heather S.
March 2018
Loved the screened wall (no windows) and seeing and hearing the birds outside. Great for me as close to a great swimming beach. I put the clock away and just enjoyed being in wonderland. Thanks David

March 2018
We really enjoyed our upstairs, open air room. One exterior wall wall was a screen, which caught me by surprise, but it turned out to be one of my favorite features. The host was very helpful in advising us on where to go for certain activities and food. Of course the big island was fantastic. This is WAY better than a hotel room at a resort. We cooked our own breakfast and prepared our own lunches before we left each morning. The host had snorkeling gear, boogie boards, gas grill, Styrofoam cooler, and beach chairs for us to use. Great parking in the back. I truly think that staying at this place saved us about $1000 in food and gear. We will be back.

Peg L.
March 2018
David was great to work with. Full of information and had all kinds of things there to make for a great beach experience. It was a perfect launching spot for us. But it would also be a great spot for people to spend an extended vacation.

February 2018
David couldn’t have been a nicer host, but the location was on a fairly busy street and it was quite noisy. There was a good breeze in the room, but it was warm until the sun had been down for a while. It is best to know something about the Kailua Kona area, which we did not. The small beaches that are accessible within walking distance are busy and are more lava rocks than sand - typical of this area. All other attractions - groceries, restaurants, And shops require a car to access from this rental, and the central town area is very busy and we could not find a place to park. This area is an expensive area and I would not consider this place a very good value.

Sonya J. G.
February 2018
The reviews said the room was “airy” and they weren’t kidding! We loved being able to hear the ocean after the traffic died down at night! We loved being able to walk to two beaches! “Downtown” Kona is close by as well! Easy access to other areas as well! Very comfortable room—perfect for two people having great vacation!

Duncan Alisdair M.
February 2018
The room was comfortable and clean. Owners were friendly and accommodating. Price seemed a little high for what it was ( once the cleaning fee is added on). Chickens in the back yard were cool to watch peck about :)

February 2018
Close to a couple beaches and not far from town. Has a kitchenette and it’s own bathroom. Owner was nice enough to meet me to help me check in.

January 2018
David was a really great guy who responded immediately on any requests we had. Second night we requested additional blanket which he had got for us the same day. Bikes, helmets, chairs and boggie boards for beach. We had everything needed to cook all our meals and place was extremely clean and tidy. Overall it was one of the best vacations ever. Thanks again David for all of your hospitality! We will be back. Best wishes Bruce & Julie

January 2018
My wife and I couldn't have found a better honeymoon spot! I can't speak highly enough of this location - vibrant, fresh, clean, lovely view, just a few minutes from one of the loveliest beaches we've ever been to. David was a welcoming and kind host who cares deeply and works hard to create a magical home base for his guests. The location is great - tucked away in lush greenery just off Ali'i drive, which will take you up and down the Big Island's sunny west coast to everything from sweeping views to placid swimming beaches to snorkeling sites to a lively town center replete with hip cafes and beachside restaurants, this is the perfect hidden starting point for your Hawai'ian adventure. My wife and I rented mopeds for quite cheep, which open up quick and leisurely travel up and down the coast. By scooter, theres a grocery store and shopping complex with everything you need by way of local produce and freshly caught fish five minutes south, beaches at every turn, and the Kailua Kona town center a mere fifteen minutes north. A half-hour jaunt will take you south to Place of Refuge, one of the best snorkeling spots we've been to. We were delighted with the whole experience, and we'll definitely be returning!

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
