My husband and I stayed for 10 days on our honeymoon. We enjoyed our stay and spent most time at the condo on the balcony enjoying the AMAZING view. The beach is even only steps away from the room so we visited it often as well.
This is a wonderfully located place to stay on the island as you can visit both the North Shore or South Shore of the island without having too far to drive. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the room and wonderful activities within a short drive.
The view from the balcony will still remain my favorite part of our whole vacation. I could sit and watch the beach and ocean all day. We even saw sea turtles!

Christine and Dennis’ place is very special. There are not many places with such a beautiful ON A BEACH location. The old Hawaiian style of buildings is quiet and serene (excepting the morning rooster wake-up that you get everywhere on the island!). Beautifully appointed and perfect for two! You cannot go wrong with this VRBO, from the moment you walk in you know you are in the perfect vacation place. The condo is a studio but felt open and much bigger than most studios. Wide open views of the most spectacular beach, crashing waves, turtles, surfers and beach walkers. The beach is right outside the unit, you are on the oceanfront. A quick short set of steps and you are at the beach at the water, which is clean and beautiful.
The condo is beautifully decorated, has every kitchen amenity you could need, all in good working order. Ceiling and floor fan along with breeze off the water made us very comfortable, we would not have needed AC even if there. Added bonus of ice trays which we made everyday and used with the provided cooler for our adventures out and happy hours in the evenings. Every beach item you could want is there. Local condo owners and other vacationers were delightful and very welcoming. This was a wonderful central location for going anywhere on the island. We are use to heavy traffic from home and found getting around not a problem and quite easy. Dining options are close and some even within walking distance if desired. We loved the local food trucks especially Musubi and really liked the food at Pono Market.
The unit is accessed by a keypad which the owners send you a code before arrival, we found this perfect to not have to worry about a key.
This place was refreshing and relaxing, the sound of the waves never goes away. We loved our stay here.

The condo was very clean, decorations were lovely, location and view spectacular. The only things that were less than perfect was the size of the unit's bathroom, and the lack of ability to shade the side windows. The neighbors kept a very bright bathroom light on in their unit all night and it illuminated the whole room.

This is the cutest little condo with the very best view. We loved staying here!! There was a small beach with a tide pool right in front of the unit that was perfect for sitting and drinking coffee in the morning or laying out in the afternoon. We had a small issue with the front door (my fault) and Dennis quickly responded to my email and fixed the problem. Highly recommend this property!

We did not miss a sunrise over this million dollar view of the cove, sacred Hawaiian point, and surf. Within walking to Lava Lava restaurant (yummy) taking the beach access paved walk, and vacationers paradise shopping and other food needs. The condo is complete with kitchen and cooking needs at hand. AND the bed was amazing comfortable. The private owners are responsive to questions and are very welcoming. Mahalo.

Our stay here was perfect. The condo is just as described, right on the water with views galore. We enjoyed watching the locals come down to fish and the surfers on their hydrofoil surfboards. There was something to see every day. We would travel around the island, and were always glad to get back to our lanai. The sound of the waves lulls you to sleep and the sunrise wakes you up in the morning-perfection. The condo was very well equipped with quality kitchen tools, paper towels, etc. We appreciated the nice quality beach towels, too. We had everything we needed for our 10 day stay. There was a lot of traffic and roadwork that did detract from our Kauai stay, but the condo was a heavenly oasis to come home to. Don’t forget to walk to the Passion Bakery Cafe in the morning for delicious treats! Great stay!

This really is a wonderful spot to stay in Kauai. We were there for two weeks and after a lot zipping around the island, Kapaa is a nice place to head back to. The accommodations are exactly what is described. A small TV issue, but we managed to use our service from home and mirror on to the TV. Great farmer's market on Tues/Thurs in walking distance. Swimming in the ocean is wonderful, but NOT at high tide - the swimming area down the beach can have a serious rip-tide and undertow. I found out the hard way and I'm an experienced swimmer. But it is perfect at low tide and there is a sweet wading pool there as well. All in all I would definitely return, armed with the knowledge of caution when swimming or snorkeling, slick muddy paths are for real - and an all around humbling respect for both Kauai's nature and its people.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at this property. Zero complaints. It had everything we needed. The bed is super comfortable and we slept like babies with waves crashing all night. The grounds are beautiful and there's plenty of restaurants, bars, stores, etc, nearby. We will definitely be back!

We definitely enjoyed this property during our time on Kauai. On the positive side, there is easy access to a grocery store down the street and some restaurants in the area. The view of the beach is fantastic, great place to sit and enjoy the water or go down to the shore - though it isn’t great for swimming due to rip tides. We made full use of the snorkel gear, I recommend heading north to Kalihikai Beach where the water is calm, we saw plenty of turtles and fish.
However, there are some areas to note as potential cons. First, there is no washer/dryer in unit, it is a shared community space that costs $6.50 and does not have shared soap so I had to buy that for another $10. The construction also added significant traffic just in this specific area every day which caused a bit of frustration. Lastly, we found ourselves frequently either going south down to Poipu and Eleele or north up near Princeville each day, there isn’t as much to do in the immediate Kapaa area.
Overall we enjoyed the stay and would definitely recommend this residence if Kapaa is the right place for you, but I would choose a different part of the island if I went back.

This place was absolutely gorgeous. Well kept little VRBO that suited all of our needs (two of us on our honeymoon). Great beach a very short walk from here in front of Lava Lava Beach Club - awesome drinks and pretty good snacks too btw. Tiny little beach directly in front of the VRBO good for tanning and taking in the views (stunning). Laundry, pool, grills, and more on property. Will recommend to friends. This place is one Tommy Bahama umbrella (the little ones in the VRBO weren’t quite enough) from being perfect.

Our stay in Unit 3 was truly a slice of paradise.
Location: The ocean-front location meant we were able to wake up and fall asleep to the majestic sound of ocean waves lapping the beach right in front of us. And the beach was ideal for relaxing or swimming or snorkeling - there's even a natural tide pool that hosts a variety of reef life. We were a short distance from everything we wanted to do - shops, restaurants, attractions - and much of it is within walking distance.
The Property: The property was beautifully landscaped and maintained, with a super-friendly on-site manager who was available to answer any question or offer a suggestion or helping hand. One really nice feature is that the entire property is smoke-free, so there's no risk of lodging next door to someone whose smoke might invade your patio or balcony. Also, all of the guests were respectful of the grounds and of others' relaxation - it was quiet and peaceful.
The Unit: Oh my gosh, this is the cleanest unit I have ever seen! Everything was definitely well-cared-for, and the kitchen came with every pan and cooking tool a person could need. And you just can't beat watching the sunrise over the ocean while sipping your morning coffee on the balcony! We spent so much time on that balcony, just soaking up the sea breezes; it was magical. The bed was so comfy and the towels were fluffy; the shower had great water pressure and the fans (ceiling and floor fans) provided the perfect temperature regulation. The hosts even thought to include beach chairs, snorkel gear, and a surfboard with the rental. It's a studio, so it was the perfect size for the two of us.
Overall, this was the perfect place for us to experience Kauai and we thank our hosts for providing such a lovely spot.

My husband and I visited Kauai in July of 2017 and had an incredible vacation while staying at Dennis and Christine Vogel’s beach condo! To begin, Kapaa Sands is located only 5.8 miles (approximately 10 minutes) from Lihue Airport, which is a wonderful, short drive after a long flight.
Kapaa Sands is a beautiful condo community, which, while full of units, was quiet the entire week. Upon entering our unit, we were blown away; the condo is gorgeous and has a spectacular view! The owners keep the unit immaculate, and the décor follows a beautiful beach theme. The unit isn’t air conditioned, but the ocean breeze keeps the condo mostly cool during the day and definitely throughout the night. The owners also provide a tall floor fan, which is great if you like additional air circulation.
In addition to the basics (bedding and bathroom towels), Dennis and Christine go above-and-beyond by providing their guests with additional amenities such as beach items (towels, chairs, snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, and coolers), kitchen tools (high quality pots and pans, coffee maker and filters, dishwasher, spices, etc.), a safe, bug spray, cable TV, and so much more; it’s obvious they want you to enjoy your stay!
Not only is the unit beautiful, but it's also situated in a prime location, which makes it easy to explore all of Kauai! Located almost directly in the middle of the Eastern Kauai shoreline, Kapaa is only a 32 mile drive to the famous Kalalau Trail located in the middle of Northern Kauai, 20 miles to the beautiful Kauailoa Bay Beach/Mahaulepu Beach and Kiahuna Beach/Poipu Beach in Southern Kauai, and 36 miles from Waimea Canyon State Park. In addition to being close to so many top-rated attractions, Kapaa also has beaches, shopping, activities, and restaurants all within walking distance of Kapaa Sands; we couldn’t have been happier with the location!
This is truly an incredible VRBO rental, and we are so thankful we had the opportunity to stay here! Whether you’re coming to Kauai for relaxation and quiet or non-stop activities, we would highly recommend Dennis and Christine Vogel’s beach condo for anyone looking for a beautiful, convenient, and very reasonably priced Kauai vacation!

We enjoyed our stay. The room was beautiful and clean and the view was breathtaking. I'm not sure if it was because of the comfortable king sized bed or because of the sounds of the waves crashing but we slept great! We watched sunrise each morning from the lanai while sipping coffee. The running path just outside the complex made for a beautiful morning or afternoon run. Our days were filled with hiking, kayaking, tours, swimming and snorkeling. The condo was a great location and convenient to each of our activities. There are plenty of great restaurants in the Kapaa area. We really enjoyed our stay! It is a place we would recommend and hopefully will return to in the future.

Kapaa Sands property was absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed walking into an open air, breezy apartment that was updated wonderfully. The lanai was so comfortable as we enjoyed visiting each night listening to the ocean and to our own music. We utilized the beach chairs and coolers almost daily as we went on many hikes and lounged on many beaches throughout the island. We simply couldn't have asked for anything more!

This property was perfect for our stay! There were absolutely no surprises walking in for the first time and getting in was a breeze thanks to the directions from the Vogels. The property is located in the perfect location with the perfect setting. We loved everything about this condo and now after seeing all the other possible options for vacation rentals and resorts we would not have done it any other way. We would absolutely stay here again and again. One thing I read that was helpful to know in other reviews was the size of the bathroom, she's pretty tight but this is not so much as a complaint as it is a statement. Do not let this steer you away from booking this amazing spot because you will be sorry. Highly recommended by us! Thank you Dennis and Christine!
