This unit is everything that was promised and more! Extremely well decorated and maintained and it is obvious that the owners stay here as well. Very well stocked kitchen and we cooked in every night and had dinner on the beautiful lanai as we watched the sun set in the beach across from us.
There is a busy and noisy road between the unit and the beach and it is very active around 7:00am, as other renters have mentioned, but we thought it was a small price to pay for such a great location. We traveled all over the island during our stay and this condo was very convenient. The second bathroom is a tremendous plus!
We did have an issue with the A/C unit when we checked in. Contacted the owners and they were all over the issue and got it fixed promptly. This is truly an owner managed property, like the original VRBO, and you can tell the difference!
Great snorkel spot right across the street that you can walk to and the owners have provided you with snorkel equipment, boogie boards, rash guards and a cooler. Just bring yourself! Loved every minute of our stay and would love to stay here again on our next visit😊

Hosts go above above and beyond to provide EVERYTHING we needed for a perfect vacation. From snorkel gear to beach chairs, umbrella, cooler and towels. Unit is immaculate and linens smell amazing! If I were more selfish, I'd hesitate to say how lovely this home is because I wouldn't want it to be booked when we're ready for our next visit! But I can't say enough good things about this property and the wonderful hosts.
Everything was clean and comfortable, & the unit was well-stocked with beach supplies (chairs & towels) and kitchen equipment. The location is also great with an easy walk to the beach with nice snorkeling and nearby dining options.
The only thing negative I can think to say also a positive thing - a crew makes some noise with blowers around 7 am every day cleaning up the beach area across the street for a short time, so bring some earplugs if you're a light sleeper like I am. But that's a very small price to pay for a well-kept beach.
It was easy to reach the hosts when we had an issue resulting from some scheduled internet maintenance, and the problem was quickly resolved.
We very much enjoyed our visit and look forward to staying there in the future!

Loved this place! The view of the beach and sunset from the living room, bedroom, and lanai were perfect. The unit was very clean and nicely decorated with quality linens. The king bed was also comfortable. The A/C worked very well. The building is in a great location just across the street from a beach with excellent snorkeling and a lifeguard. The pool was warm and well maintained with a view of the beach. The owners were very welcoming and communicated timely. With that said, we had no issues that needed to be addressed. As advertised, there is no elevator, but we got used to the stairs to the 3rd story. We definitely recommend staying here!

Honestly probably one of the best rentals and I’ve rented lots. They provide the extra amenities that I usually have to get to start a nice vacation. All the gear you need for beach and snorkel. Don’t need to worry about that. Quiet, clean and perfect location right across from Kahuluu Bay for great snorkeling. The 2 baths was just wonderful and we even received very nice welcoming gifts. Easy communication as well . We really enjoyed our stay. Mahalo !!

Surfing Turtle was a great property for our Kona vacation. Communication with the owners was prompt, condo was clean, had great beach gear and the home was stocked with everything you’d need in a rental. Love to snorkel - than this is the place for you. Right across the street form the best place to snorkel on the Big Island. Condo is very clean and very nicely decorated. The lanai is wonderful - with a great view of the water and the sounds of birds. Grocery store is minutes away and the barbecue is great if you like to cook. (I am so forunate my husband is a great cook!)

Kahalu’u Beach Park is one of the best places to snorkel on the Big Island and this wonderful condo is right across the street from the beach. The snorkeling is amazing! The ocean views from the lanai are beautiful. It is a bonus to be able to see the beach activity from the lanai to determine how busy the beach is.
Owners, Rachal and Jason, take great pride in their condo. It is lovely inside, beautifully updated, and full of amenities. With all the snorkeling we did, it was great to have two full bathrooms. The condo felt like home. I certainly didn’t want to leave.
Rachel and Jason are attentive owners and good communicators. They gave us some great suggestions for the activities that we were most interested in, nearby snorkeling and hiking.
It should be noted that there are two minor items to consider, stairs to the condo and street noise. The stairs were a plus for us, more exercise, but for some people the stairs may be a strain. Also, the condo is located on a fairly busy street that can be noisy. On the positive side, the street offers easy access to drive north or south without winding through a neighborhood or large resort.
Planning to rent this condo again next year!

We had a truly wonderful week-long getaway. The condo is exceptionally well appointed and maintained. The owners have set it up so that you feel you are visiting with friends, rather than in an anonymous rental space. There was a thoughtful welcoming gift, beautiful art on the walls, gear to use if you needed it, and a ready response to our one question. The best guidebook to the island tells you that there is road noise, but it is a small trade-off for a special location, in this case just across from a wonderful snorkeling beach. We loved being on the third floor for the view. People who have difficulty with stairs should note that there is no elevator. Again, a small trade-off for a week in paradise. We hope to return!

If we have a choice, we like being a little south of Kona, so that's where start our search. Well, our searching is over if "Surfing Turtle" is available! Just so quiet and conveniently located.
First of all the unit itself is wonderful. Clean, modern amenities, decorated beautifully, and a great view from the Lanai. We didn't utilize them, but the pool, hot tub, and grill areas were all well maintained and gave the place a great vibe!
Great snorkeling right across the street at Kahalu'u Beach Park (we'd go before breakfast, nobody is there yet!). If you like to kayak, it's only 20 minutes to beautiful Kealakakua Bay and dolphins.10 minutes from Keauhou Bay with charters available (our personal opinion is to do the amazing night Manta Ray Adventure, gentle giants swimming right past you!). Grocery store and Long's is very close at Keauhou Shopping Center. And you're only a few minutes from Kona for everything that's up there.
And finally, the owners are simply wonderful!
In a word. Paradise.

Clean one bedroom/two bath condo in great location across the street from nice snorkeling bay. Nice pool and spa. The only drawback is access requires going down one flight of stairs then up three flights of stairs. Overall highly recommended.

This property was perfect for us. The location was terrific - we enjoyed being five minutes from town and the bay across the street was beautiful! The owners were very welcoming, and provided a thoughtful gift upon arrival that included sunscreen and Kona coffee, among other things. The property and condo were spotless, and included all the amenities that we could need. The pool and jacuzzi were very relaxing and great for enjoying the sunset. This is a wonderful property and we plan on returning the next time we visit the Big Island.

Clean, nice, comfortable, and well positioned across the street from excellent snorkel location. Don't forget water shoes--you have to be able to walk on rough lava at some point getting in and out of the snorkel beach.
I do have to say that the description of the property could be more clear--to get from the parking lot to the unit, you have to go down one full flight of stairs, then up two to the third floor unit; reverse that when leaving. A bit awkward. Carrying our suitcases down and up was a bit of a stretch for us codgers. For most, no big deal, but if your youthful strength is far in the rear view mirror just be aware! :-)

I cannot recommend this property highly enough! The view from the lanai is spectacular! Truly the best view you could imagine. We woke up to the sound of birds chirping in the trees and dined on the lanai each night for a sunset view.
The best snorkelling is directly across the street. You can check the tides from the lanai.
Jason and Rachel thought of everything. We had all the beach and snorkeling gear we needed for either a day at the beach boogie boarding or a morning exploring new snorkeling spots up or down the coast. When I contacted them with a question, they were super responsive.
The complex is quiet and removed from the hustle and bustle of the main town.
I had to teach a course online during our stay. The internet was strong and I could not ask for a better setting for work!
We will be back to enjoy this slice of paradise!

We absolutely loved this condo! It is a perfect location across from an amazing snorkeling beach, minutes to a great supermarket and restaurants but yet quiet at night. We loved visiting Volcanoes park, boating along the coast, and eating ahi poke every day. The condo is well equipped and has great sunset views. Thanks for a great vacation!

We come to Kona several times a year and have stayed several places, but this was a first at the beach villas. I was hesitant do to Alii being just outside the window, but no problems with road noise at all. I would say that you have thought of everything one might need in your very well stocked condo. The place and the gear etc all appear brand new it was all so clean. Would highly recommend your place for anyone except people that can't do the stairs. Overall the best yet ( and we have rented at several of the "higher" end condos all over Kona. Thank you.

If you love to snorkel like my family this is the place for you. Get in before the crowd. Lots of fish, swam with turtle and look at beautiful coral. Very close to eating areas and our favorite the Honokohau Beach. After all that swimming we treat ourselves with a happy hour at Sam Choy’s. And don’t forget great food at L&L!!This condo has everything you need. The owners thought of everything even Kona coffee and sunscreen. We are absolutely impressed!

As soon as we stepped in the door, we felt embraced and at home! The furnishings are perfect- just beautiful! There were many items there already to get us started- dish soap, laundry soap, shampoo, conditioner, soap, reef safe sunscreen, a well stocked kitchen and many linens. There are also beach towels, beach chairs, rash guards, and a cooler! The local Walmart is just minutes away in case you need anything. The condo has a lanai to die for, and because it’s the penthouse on the corner, it is very private and right next to beautiful vegetation- palm trees, silk trees, etc. The king sized bed was extremely comfortable and the sleeper sofa was also pretty comfortable. Love that quilted comforter! This condo has the absolute BEST LOCATION- to the north along Alii you have great restaurants within a few minutes drive. Huggo’s was our favorite, as well as the Don’s Mai Tai at Kona Resort. Great views and great food! We enjoyed live music at Huggo’s on the Rocks (next door to Huggo’s with a different menu and a more laid back atmosphere) as well as at the Kona Resort right near there. Parking for Huggo’s is easy if you get there before 6:00, so we sometimes just grabbed a drink there and then walked over to the Kona Resort Restaurant for food. Right across the street from there you will find many souvenir shopping stores- the ABC store and more…. Just steps from the condo, you have one of the best snorkeling spots on the island, Kahalu’u- which is pretty shallow and has easy entry (bring water socks for walking on the rocks, though). South from the condo, within a 10 minutes drive, are the other two best snorkeling spots on the island- 2 Steps and Captain Cook. 2 Steps is deeper water and more pristine, with huge, healthy coral and an abundance of sea life! Entry into the water was pretty easy, but entry out requires some patience. Use waves to push you onto the first step and then use a flat palm to grab hold (the step has many little holes with sea urchins inside so keep your palm flat and you’ll be okay). Get there early as parking is limited. Also right in that area, you’ll find Captain Cook bay, which is harder to access. The best way to snorkel there is by boat, which my mom did (she went on the Viator Captain Zodiac Beat the Crowds boat tour, and loved every minute). She told me these waters were deeper than 2 Steps and super clear. The best swimming beach EVER is Hapuna (up north). You will never want to leave Kona or the condo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a fabulous stay at the condo. It's beautifully designed, decorated and equipped. Sunsets from the lanai can't be beat. The only downside is traffic noise from Ali'i Drive but it can't be avoided if you want a water view and it dies down at night. Highly recommended.

Wonderful view from the penthouse level lanai. Very clean. Perfect for a couple looking for a private retreat.
Good snorkeling is directly across the street, and more snorkeling (“two step”) is a short drive south.
Easy 8 min drive north into busy town. This location is just far enough away from all the bustle to be very peaceful.
Owners are wonderful, caring, and easy to get a hold of if needed.
A large beach bag, beach towels, fins and boogie boards are provided.

We felt so pampered from start to finish. Rachel and Jason are the ultimate hosts. The “surfing turtle” is by far our best Hawaiian retreat and we have been celebrating our wedding anniversary annually and alternating our visits between four islands— our fourth visit to the Big Island. Beautiful apartment with fantastic view of the ocean and beach right across the street. The hot tub and pool are also great after a day of snorkeling. Jason and Rachel are helpful hosts, and the apartment has everything you need - including things you didn’t even know you needed! They provide snorkeling gear, boogie boards, pool noodles, reef safe sunscreen, and even rash guards, which I didn’t even know how needed they were! Rash guards are basically water shirts that protect you from the sun, keep you warm in the water, and protect you from the rocks/reefs too. Very handy to have these available!
The views and ocean sounds from the balcony are paradise!!
5 star recommendation and will come back to stay again.

This property could not have been better. From the moment we walked in we felt at home. This home has beautiful furnishings , well equipped kitchen and all linens are top of the line. The bed I could have lived in, very comfortable. The location is also perfect. The close-by snorkeling beach is great. Saw lots of fish and the beach was never too crowded. We will recommend this property to friends and family.

If snorkeling is your ideal get-away, this is the place to stay. Located walking distance from the snorkel bay, you'll be in heaven.
The condo is perfect for two adults and the view from the lanai includes the snorkel bay so you can watch snorkelers and surfboarders. You'll travel to other beaches for swimming and sunbathing on soft sand; this bay is best for snorkeling.

We love the beach villas. The location is great with excellent snorkeling across the street and some of our favorite places to eat are nearby. The place was clean and had everything we needed. Perfect condo with great views, comfortable furnishings, quiet location, next to great beaches and snorkeling. 1 min walk to the best calm bay for snorkeling which is beyond amazing. Jason and Rachel were great hosts, providing everything we could ever need. Towels, AC, bedding, cups , glasses, plates, full kitchen all provided. Awesome bed, slept like a rock.
It's rare to have ceiling fans, which were in all the rooms, was nice to circulate the AC.
