Our stay although a short stay was such a great surprise property. All the units are beach front and have a wonderful view of the ocean. Being so close to the surf and being able to hear the waves is so nice. The staff are great and accommodating especially Rick the Resident Property Manager.

Was in Maui for a family wedding. Did not get to make full use of the property, as the schedule was full. However, the condo was incredibly peaceful, listening to the waves as they rolled in at night. Saw at least one turtle every single day . ..a perfect place to relax. The property manager Tammy, was incredibly helpful, I had to contact her after hours and she called me back immediately.

Manager was incredible. Propery is slightly dated (tape deck living room...lol) but clean and well stocked. Location is amazing, right on the water and quiet. The only thing I learned is that this unit, like many in Maui, does not have AC. To my surprise this was a non issue with great breezes and the nights even being cold.

Makani Sands condominiums are amazing Maui choice. Beautiful tropical ocean front setting with private sandy beach. Rented 4 condos for perfect family vacation. Condos and grounds immaculate. Fun pool and turtles often visible. Great swimming, sunbathing, sunsets, and grilling. Perfect.

Check in was so smooth, the water view from this location is beautiful. The condo had everything we needed. The beach was so fun. We saw a lot of see turtles. We will be back.

The location and amenities for the price are unmatched. The condo could use a little updating but again for the price point it was perfect. Whales everywhere and the snorkeling right out the condo wall is incredible. Will definitely stay at Makani Sands again.

Very nice place. Watching whales and sunset dinners on the Lanai were a lot of fun. We would definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity.

The condo has a great ocean view, lanai. It was clean and well-stocked. Check-in was easy, however, office staff does not wear masks, which was concerning. Now the downside. The title is misleading, there is no beach, and the stairs to the shore are blocked with caution tape, because of a 6-foot drop. On our second day, the water heater broke, causing damage to the apartment below. After much back and forth due to the extensive damage we were moved to 204. I requested a refund for this night since we had to change plans to come back, pack and move to another unit. The property manager verbally agreed. Three days later, we had to move back to 208 and were told repairs were completed. We again packed and had to wait for cleaners before we could move back. Several of the cleaners did not wear masks. Moved back in, only to find out there was no hot water, we checked the breaker as instructed, still did not work. This was not fixed when we left the next day. Also for the last two days of our stay, the elevator was not working, which though it did not inconvenience us, would be a concern for someone with mobility issues. Upon returning home, I sent the property manager an email regarding the refund, she did not respond. I followed up with a phone call and was told "waiting on bill for all costs of the damage to give to the owner, this will take time". This made little sense, so I followed up with VRBO. Found out that this property uses a third-party software (only advertised on VRBO) and therefore VRBO can not issue refunds or hold the host accountable. VRBO did call the property manager twice, and she told them that they would not refund me for the two nights as the contract did not cover if the equipment was not functioning. Apparently, she equated a broken water heater that required moving out of the unit, that same as a TV not working.
The breaking of the water heater could not have been foreseen but the response from property management clarified that the concern was for the owner and not the guest.

My 4th time in Maui, my husbands 1st. The condo did not disappoint. It was very comfortable and as described. The little tiny 'ants' in the kitchen were annoying, left the bug spray for the next renters.... it worked fabulous and no harm, no foul. The only other thing I might change, is the swimming equipment. Maybe a boogie board or noodle or two. Overall, not a game changer! Thank you Makani Sands, you knocked it out the park for me and my guy!

Perfect location, loved being on the ocean. Pool was clean. Kitchen was well-stocked and access to grills for cooking up our dinner was ideal. Easy parking situation (and always a spot). Bed was very comfy and it was great having laundry in the unit. Only downsides: It's time to replace the pull-out couch (my kids were sneezing) and the outdoor furniture cushions which are smelly.

Condos generally well equipped but showing need for maintenance. Beautiful propriety especially when there is a beach. No A/C so windows open 24/7. 5 out of 10 days quiet but no way to escape the extremely noisy renters. The Management completely ignores the issue. In 20 years of visits, this was the worst.

We loved our stay at Makani Sands. The location was perfect and the views, especially at sunset, were phenomenal. We liked the second floor because we still had a fantastic view without all of the foot traffic of the first floor. We still are amazed that the turtles were right there, we were even able to get in the water and they swam close to us. The barbecues were convenient and clean. It was a great experience and I have already recommended this location to family and friends. We will return!
