This is not a beachfront or beach view property, however it is very close. It is about a 5min walk to both the beach and lots of food options. Even with the many fans provided, the house is very hot during the day even with all of the windows open. We arrived after sundown and the windows weren’t opened all the way so the house didn’t cool down until about 10pm. We managed to stay out of the house during the day due to the heat. The patio is lovely and we spent the mornings and evenings outside. Beach towels, chairs and boogie boards are provided. House is clean, well kept and a great value for the money.

The Chung Cottage was an amazing home base for our adventures in Hanalei. The Cottage was very clean and had everything we needed for the week. Everything in the home was in working order. We Made use of the beach chairs and boogies boards daily. The porch was great place to sip coffee in the morning and chill out in the evenings The location is simply fantastic. 2 minutes to the beach and maybe five to the village. We would not hesitate to book again.

Cottage is just a block from the beach which is a huge selling point, but the road and traffic can get noisy. It has basic amenities, and is clean and comfortable. The layout is a bit odd, with the shower separate from the upstairs bathroom, and the dining area down a few steps in the converted carport. Overall, worth the price.

You can’t get a better location and price! The cottage has everything you need for your stay and the management is so helpful and kind. Space is very clean and comfortable. If you are looking for a cozy beach get-a -way this is THE SPOT! a one minute walk to beach, and a two- three minute walk to the town. So beautiful and magical. Just wish we had another week. A win-win for all to enjoy!!

Victoria and I have stayed in the Chung Cottage every year at this time with very few exceptions since the year 2000. It remains the perfect size, perfect location and perfect arrangement for relaxation and for our individual work situations. We enjoy the song birds, White Rumped Shamas and even the Doves. It is very easy to walk to the beach, or to downtown Hanalei. The Cottage is clean and well maintained. We had another very good stay in 2024.

This was our first time staying at Chung Cottage, and we picked this rental based on its proximity to the beach and town; its great reviews; and it was at the price-point we were looking for. It did not disappoint. Yes, it is rustic, but it has this authentic beachy-vibe to it that we really liked. It was comfortable, VERY CLEAN, and we enjoyed sitting under the covered area to enjoy the wonderful breezes that seemed to funnel its way into this covered area, and we really wished that there were hammocks to further enjoy this space (perfect for afternoon siestas!).The other wish we had was that the outdoor shower had an enclosure so that you could take a shower without your swimsuit on.Very pleased with our stay, and we would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Hanalei without breaking the bank.We will definitely be back!!Erin S.Lacey, WASept 22-27, 2023One more thing: the folks at Na Pali Properties are fabulous. This was me and my husband’s 8th trip to Hanalei but first time at Chung Cottage. The location of the house was excellent-equally a quick walk to the beach and to town. The house had a very Hawaiian feel, cute and funky. It was larger than the pictures show and my husband and I made full use of the different areas to sit and relax. The kitchen worked great for meal prep and we were glad to find beach equipment. There’s limited options for a 1 bedroom in Hanalei and I’m glad that the home worked out perfectly as we would definitely book again. Check in and check out was easy, there’s nothing to improve on. Mahalo and we look forward to returning!

Great little cottage in the heart of Hanalei. Perfect location and this old school cottage makes you feel like you step back in time to what Hanalei used to be. Big yard for the kids to play soccer and games, nice lanai with views of mountains, close to beach & restaurants. A little rustic but a great deal $$$ in Hanalei.

So the hot water shower handle broke and the water would not shot off on the first night of my stay with the possibility of having no hot water. The Na Pali team was great and had a plumber there within hours to fix. Fantastic Job !!!!

Chung cottage is really well located, close to town and 1 min walk from the beach. It has everything one needs for a relaxing tropical stay. The interior is a bit dark through the natural wood paneling but the main living room kitchen combo is quite cozy and the glass shutters all around the house help air circulation. Would stay again.

This cottage is super cute and they pack a lot into a small space. I came with my husband for our honeymoon but I can see how the place could sleep 5+ I will say this is not the stay for you if you plan on cooking during your vacation. While the stove works and the fridge is sizable there is no oven apart from a toaster oven that zapped my husband and I when we tried to use it, and the kitchen isn’t lit super well for cooking. The kitchen also doesn’t have a dishwasher or a ton of dishes if you do have a bigger group. For us this worked because we either ate out, had cereal, or had poke where we just needed a fridge and a microwave for rice, but it is something to be aware of.
Proximity to the beach is fantastic and Hanalei Bay is warm and safe to swim in in October. We also loved being close enough to town that we could walk.

The property was great and perfect location a block from the beach. The property was clean overall. I did rewash the sheets as there were stains. I brought it to the attention to the property manager and it was addressed immediately. It is an island with lots of critters and not much to do about that. Addressed a few bug issues and again the manager was responsive. Overall I had a wonderful stay there and I would certainly go back to the same place. I highly recommend.
