We had a good stay at this property which is in a perfect location if anyone stays on the east side of the island. The space was enormous and we were able to have our separate areas. Although the master is a loft style master with openness in a unique way. I would’ve loved to give this property however the BBQ was not ideal. The booking site said it had a BBQ which we would’ve like to use each night. What it failed to disclose (until we arrived) was that it was a charcoal grill (no supplies were supplied). Also it was made clear that IF we used the BBQ we had to clean it and if we didn’t clean it well enough we’d be charged a $30 fee. I asked the property management a question re:placemats when we arrived and got no response in the four days we were there. Lovely property. Less than communicative manager.

One bedroom with walks a d a door. The other 3 beds in a large “dormitory” room…. Not conducive to any privacy.

This place was great, but the pictures in the listing aren't up-to-date. We are avid readers, and one main reason we selected this property for just the two of us was picture 14/25 showing two "lounge chairs" with ottomans in the MBR overlooking the wonderful view. Those chairs are no longer there, but have been replaced by two low-backed occasional chairs which are decorative but not really functional. Picture 15/25 indicated an office off the MBR, so we brought our laptop, hoping to catch up on a few things. The desk is no longer there, replaced by a single twin bed so the MBR can now sleep a total of four people, if so desired. As instructed, we contacted the local host rep before checking in. We had hoped to check-in an hour early, but were unable to make contact either by phone or e-mail. We contacted the Evolve management team to straighten this out, and they suggested we text the local rep instead. We did, and she eventually did respond, but only after the official check-in time had come and gone and we had actually entered the property. There were a number of minor maintenance issues to which we alerted the Evolve team upon departure.

Property is well located and views from Primary Bedroom, Kitchen and Living Room are amazing. Lots of outdoor spots to enjoy. Nice balance of being close to town and a bit away to enjoy some of the beauty of the Big Island.

Four years ago we stayed at another VRBO property just a few houses south of this one. We had lots of fun on our balcony watching surfers paddling out from Honoli'i Park. While this property has no surfer view, it does have whales! During our ten-day stay, we ate breakfast on the porch off the kitchen and brought our binoculars with the salt and pepper. Five of those days, we saw pods of from just a few to a dozen whales - amazing sight. When there are no whales, you can gaze at the cruise ships that arrive in the early morning and depart at sundown, happy that you are on your own balcony rather than standing in the buffet line with 3100 new friends. Two update notes - the comfortable looking lounge chairs with ottomans pictured in the MBR have been replaced by two decorative occasional chairs, no ottomans. The office desk is gone, replaced by a single twin bed, meaning the MBR can sleep a total of four people, if so desired.

I reached out to Vrbo on the same night and there were multiple parties involved and no body is taking the responsibility. It’s very annoying and I do not recommend vrbo to any of my friends and I will not do any other bookings through Vrbo.

Very well kept! Lots of updates to this older home but very nice! A private hedge lined driveway hides the home from the street and then Open the front door and BAM that gorgeous view! No AC but not at all necessary in June with all the ceiling fans and ocean breeze. 5 min drive to Hilo and nice eclectic neighborhood. Plenty of spots to enjoy the view inside and out, plenty of space for this family of 5 to spread out and enjoy!

Well, Hilo is not the most exciting part of the island, if you go there don't expect the tropical beaches. The city is a bit run down and the restaurant selection is extremely limited. The property is Ok, it can you some upgrades in the kitchen and a proper maintainance of the garden. It has a good location, great view, spacious and can accomodate 4 maybe 5 people. If you want to explore that part of the island 3-4 day will be sufficient

The property is stunning. I can’t rave enough about the grounds, the views, and the location. However three days of three trimming by very poor tree trimmers who left debris EVERYWHERE, plus forced us to endure hours of chainsaw and leaf blower noise assaulting our ears makes me hesitant to ever return. And it took a while when I complained about it to even hear from the property manager. I’m not even convinced that the manager knew the tree trimming was going on, which makes you wonder who’s running this place. This plus the fact that you could not walk on the floor barefoot or you would feel like you had soap or some kind of sticky substance all over your feet makes me not inclined to return unless I’m desperate. But the views!!!!! The whales!!!!! I saw four spouts shoot up in one moment. If I were to come back, I would have to hire my own house cleaner to clean the place. If noise and dirt don’t bother you, I highly recommend because the views and location are astounding.

Awesome view of the ocean with the morning sun rising. No sunset but who would care with the view you have. Almost 180 degree view from the the 3 lanais. We were able to watch whales every morning and every evening. Several cruise ships came and went during our stay. There was plenty of space that could of housed two families comfortable. The house was in need of some cosmetic updates and a few repairs but not enough to distract from our stay. Overall a great location.

We couldn’t of asked for a better view of the ocean during our stay. Every morning and evening we sat on one of the several lanai’s to watch the whales swim by. Our last day we watched one whale breech out of the water several times and another whale slapped the water with its tail about a dozen times. What a way to end our stay. We also enjoyed listening to the waves crash against the cliff especially at night. Overall the house was quite unusual with its very open concept layout and lots of room to move around. Use of the garage was good especially being able to back out of it to be able to drive out of the property. The house is located just out of Hilo and was a convenient location to anywhere on the island. The house could accommodate a large family or even two families. I would like to of given a 10 star rating but we did encounter some minor problems like some lights weren’t working and the house is in need of some (TLC) updates, but that would not stop us from coming back for another stay. So if you are looking for a location to stay and have peace and quiet, great ocean view, and not feel cramped, then I would definitely recommend this property.

We loved our stay! Having the ocean in the backyard was a first for us. We loved listening to the sound of the ocean and watching the sunrise from the master bedroom and main living area. The singing coqui frogs at night are something to get used to but waking up to those views made it all worth it. Would definitely stay here again.

Moldy, filthy and worn out! Totally unacceptable to the point of being fearful to stay at this location. Had to seek safe accommodations to stay at on spur of the moment. VRBO will mostlikely not post the truth about this location because this property had to be in disrepair for years to be in this condition,

This was perfect! Loved staying here. My daughter is attending UH-Hilo so I fly over to see her a few times a year. Will definitely book this place again. It was amazing!!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property. It's an interesting construction that has personality (and I personally like a split-level with glass block everywhere, old soul I guess). You can't beat the view, hard to be more on the water (top of a cliff though, not a beach). We did appreciate the beach equipment that was available in the garage, and being able to actually park in the garage as well. I'd recommend backing in though as backing out going up the driveway is harrowing with a wider vehicle. We were really impressed with the location, such a beautiful setting and only 10 minutes from the middle of Hilo. Who needs to stop at a scenic overlook when you can lay in bed and get the same view?

Two couples stayed in this house for 5 nights. It has glorious ocean views and we spent most mornings and evenings on the deck with coffee or cocktails. It has a large amount of space for two couples with separated sleeping and bathroom areas for privacy. Don’t worry about no AC; the breezes through the home were plenty for cooling. It was clean, with everything we needed to stay for five nights. It’s about a 50 minute drive to Volcanoes National Park.

The property and grounds were beautiful, and a great base location for taking trips into Hilo or beyond. We enjoyed spending time nearby at Honoli’i Beach Park to watch the surfers and sunrise.

Incredibly stunning, open concept multilevel abode with stunning views of the water and Hilo Bay. Excellent viewpoint for sunrises and sunsets, very large and open master bathroom and plenty of amenities. Was the perfect place to create the proper ambience for my first trip to Hawaii.
