This private residence, located right across the street from the ocean, is one of the best spots on the Big Island for kayaking (home near boat ramp), shore diving and snorkeling or just relax and bask with the green sea turtles on the shore. After fun in the sun, enjoy the outdoor shower next to the lanai for a quick rinse and hang your gear and wet suits in the bamboo shower room until your next adventure.
This spacious, family (baby and kid) friendly, quality furnished, Puako home welcomes you into its tropical and sunny interior with plenty of room for after beach relaxing and home made meals, fresh, from the gourmet kitchen. Relax indoors with total privacy and comfort or rejuvenate outside on the large back lanai with BBQ overlooking the private back yard and enjoy a sunrise coffee or favorite beverage as the sun sets.
Fill your days exploring the marine life (whales in the winter months!) with diving and snorkeling across the street, riding waves on two beautiful white sand beaches less than two miles away, and dining out in the numerous restaurants in the three different resorts all within a few minutes drive. Just a mile away are, Hapuna Beach and Wailea Beach, two of the most fabulous beaches in the world. The Mauna Kea and Mauna Lani resorts are less than 5 minutes by car and provide additional amenities such as tennis, golf, health spa, fitness center, pool, restaurants and shopping. The Neighborhood:
Puako is still the only ocean front residential community along the Gold Coast/Kohala Coast of the Big Island nestled between the Mauna Lani Resort, Fairmont Orchid and Mauna Kea/Hapuna Resorts. Hapuna Beach State Park has earned the reputation of being one of Hawaii Island's finest beaches. It is the largest White Sands Beach on The Big Island and consistently rates on Top Ten lists internationally. Hapuna Beach offers some wonderful opportunities for swimming, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, sunbathing and snorkeling and is just a mile from Puako. You can even drive the back road to Hapuna Beach and not get on the Highway. Local shore fisherman can be seen daily enjoying the great reef fishing. Puako Beach Drive has no through access which keeps it virtually still undiscovered by many.
There are six separate "beach" accesses along this stretch of beach. Although there is not a tremendous amount of sand, there are tide pools and the extensive protected reef is remarkable. During low tide, small pools dot the entire coastline and these pools are filled with small sea life that make excellent areas to explore for all ages. If you enjoy shore diving, kayaking and snorkeling you can find a spot along this stretch of shoreline to enter the water. Offshore the reef is home to a wide variety of fish and many days you will see dolphins playing right from the shore. Enjoy the Whales who return each year to mate and give birth in the tropical warm waters during the winter months.
Getting Around:
A car is recommended for getting around the area and enjoying all that Hawaii Island has on offer.

NOISE
Please keep in mind that Guest is in a very small and peaceful residential neighborhood. Noise carries over quiet landscapes and near water. IBR asks that Guest and Guest’s children respect Property neighbors' privacy, peace and quiet. Guests are asked to adhere to the “Good Neighbor Policy” as follows: quiet hours shall be from 9:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m. during which time the noise from the short term vacation rental shall not unreasonably disturb adjacent neighbors. Sound that is audible beyond the Property boundaries during non-quiet hours shall not be more excessive than would be otherwise associated with a residential area.
NON-SMOKING RENTAL
This is a non-smoking rental. No smoking is allowed inside any of the buildings on the Property. No cigarette butts in gravel or yard.
PLEASE KEEP SCREENS AND DOORS TIGHTLY CLOSED TO PREVENT PESTS FROM ENTERING THE HOME.
SUPPLIES
As part of our commitment to ensuring a relaxing and enjoyable stay for our guest, we provide a complimentary set of initial supplies (paper goods and soaps) upon your arrival. These supplies are intended to help you get started and make your transition into our accommodation as smooth as possible. After your initial supply is depleted, it is your responsibility to replenish any additional supplies needed for the duration of your stay.
TRAFFIC
Please DRIVE SLOWLY in our neighborhoods. The speed limits are 10 mph to 25 mph and there are many children and adult pedestrians and bicyclists.
USE OF PROPERTY
Guest may use the home only as a place of vacation. Guest may not use it for commercial purposes, for any unlawful, improper, offensive purpose or illegal activity. Please refer to Guest Book upon arrival for details and instructions concerning use of pool, spa, and/or air conditioning if these amenities are available at the rented Property.
NO PETS OR ANIMALS ALLOWED
NEIGHBORHOOD CONSTRUCTION
IBR is not responsible for any construction noise or inconvenience that may occur during Guest stay. No refunds will be given. Although IBR cannot guarantee full knowledge of any planned or current construction occurring, Guest may contact IBR (90) days prior to Guest arrival to inquire if IBR is aware of construction adjacent to the Property occurring and Guest may choose to cancel at that time IF there is construction occurring that may affect the Property UNLESS Guest has already been made aware of construction during time of or shortly after Guest booking was made.
When securing Guest booking with payment Guest is consenting to have read, understood and accepted all the terms and conditions of our Island Beach Rentals, LLC. Rental Agreement as excerpted above as well as the IBR terms and conditions also sent by direct email to guest at time of booking.

This home more than met our needs for a family of 7 adults and 1 child.The house was roomy with a great floor plan. We somehow thought we only had 2 bathrooms but actually had 2 and a half as the laundry room with full size washer and dryer also had a sink and toilet. There was also an outdoor shower with 2 showers, they were a bit rustic but our adult children loved them and they were great for dealing with sand after a day at the beach. One of the best parts of renting a house rather than staying in a hotel/resort is the supplies included and this rental didn’t disappoint! There was everything we needed and more! Beach chairs, beach toys, beach mats, fins, masks (just a couple but useful), sun block, spices, and every appliance we needed and more. The kitchen has a great layout and more than enough dishes and pots and pans for our party of 8 with a layout allowing for multiple people in the kitchen at once making food prep easy! Owners were very prompt in responding to our questions before we arrived and taking care of the trash when the can was full as pick up was delayed due to wind. There is Waialea beach only a couple miles away, or less, with wonderful shade trees, and lots of sand for kids. It has easy access, parking is good (small fee) even on the weekend, restrooms available, and we saw fish snorkeling as well. Our 7 year old grandson loved it and the adults loved the snorkeling and shade! Next door to the rental is a store with supplies and rental gear.

Thanks so much for the wonderful house. It was a perfect house for our family with 5 adults and 1 child. The house was larger than it looks in the photos and was in a perfect location on the island. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed and the outside showers were amazing! Mahalo for a wonderful family vacation!

Lovely, well-situated home on the Kohala coast side of the island. Good proximity for activities both north and south on the leeward side, and to gain access for cross-island travel to Hilo and Volcano. Comfortable beds, well-appointed kitchen amenities, responsive hosts, and a detailed, informative starters' and home-base guide. Room-specific air conditioning allowed for individual preferences. Quiet and private, and with a general store conveniently next door (without noise or sounds). We felt very comfortable and highly recommend it!

This is probably the best experience I've had with a rental home. Super clean, great layout, with lots of thoughtful touches to make us feel welcome. Across the street is a shallow tidal area that was an absolute National Geographic experience: fish! crabs! turtle! octopus! Next door is a small "general store" that had necessities and weekly snorkel rentals. It was a lovely place for a lovely vacation.

I can't say enough good about our stay with Island Beach Rentals, 9B in Puako. The house was just gorgeous, everything that we needed was there. Our hosts came to make sure we got checked in ok and helped us to know how to be good neighbors. The location, next to a small store, and across from Beach Access was just perfect. The neighborhood is very quiet. The outdoor showers were appreciated and helped to keep the floors sand free. We would stay there again in a heart beat and recommend it highly!

We were very happy with the property. While it was about a 30 minute drive to Kona, we had easy access to several beaches. The trade off was with it. The property managers were amazing and very responsive. We will definitely recommend this property to others

Loved this home in a quiet neighbor and easy access to the water for a beautiful sunset view. The house was spacious with a great porch on the back. The back porch had a grill with propane, tables, beach toys, chairs, etc. The house was clean and each room had its own AC unit. We had lots of room for our group. Had lots of supplies in the house for us to use which was pleasant surprise. Would definetly stay here again with a larger group. House was very clean and comfortable, only a few steps to get into the house.

Our stay at this house was wonderful!
Plenty of space, a big kitchen, a relaxing/secluded garden at the back, an nice outdoor shower, the hawaian feel! The fact that it was one minute from a small general store was useful. The beach and its ponds were beautiful and just 5 minutes walking distance: we did some snorkeling and it was great.
The house was very clean.
I would recommend this house without hesitation.

Nice home with helpful hosts in a great location. Decent beach gear. Lot is smaller than many homes in this area and outdoor space somewhat limited. Air conditioning throughout house is comfy. Propane grill and outdoor shower were clean and useful.

This house fit our needs perfectly! It was close to the Kohala resorts and shopping but not in the middle of the all that activity. We had everything we needed. A well stocked kitchen, plenty of bath + beach towels, beach chairs, a cooler. Great beaches are close too. Each of the bathrooms had full sized sham, conditioner and body wash - including the outdoor shower which was amazing. The owners left a welcome pack of coffee and chocolates which were very much appreciated.

There are multiple beach accesses within walking distance walking left or right out of the driveway. The beach access to the right enters Puako bay, the second closest, perhaps a 3 minute walk is spectacular with lots of sand. Most of the big island shoreline is not sandy. Plus the bay is sheltered so the waves there are calm most of the time. The house is spacious, the AC works well, the lanai out back is great, the kids loved playing in the yard. We did remote work there for the first three weeks with clients and companies in Colorado and the internet was fine for multiple simultaneous video calls. The house had everything we needed save perhaps a knife sharpener, so pretty well stocked. This is a great place to park to enjoy the big island.

Loved this house. Big enough for our large group of 8, loved the large kitchen and the deck. Beds were comfortable, outdoor shower superb, location wonderful. Right across the street was snorkeling and great beaches a short drive. The property manager responded immediately to any concerns or questions we had. The only improvement I would wish for is more chairs on the deck. 4 chairs for 8 people did not cut it, as we spent so much time outside. A few fold up chairs would do the trick.
We will be back!
