We enjoyed our stay. The home was generally clean & very nice; the view is great. Exiting the driveway is fine.The beach is small but private; we borrowed a rake to clear the coral, nuts, seaweed etc that wash up every morning so the little one could play in the sand.It wasn't possible to swim because the water is only knee-thigh deep for hundreds of feet out from the shore. There were issues, although Anna in management was efficient in dealing with most of them.-we were surprised to learn after arriving that no food staples or normal amenities were provided other than salt & pepper in the kitchen, and toilet paper and hand soap in the bathrooms. At our request the company provided napkins, plastic wrap, baggies, and tissues. but we had to shop for shampoo, body wash, and food basics like ketchup, oil and vinegar, etc. - the gas BBQ grill was broken (& filthy) and while the handyman repaired and wiped it, it was still so dirty underneath the grill that it caused a grease fire the first time we used it. We gave it a thorough cleaning ourselves. We realized there was no fire extinguisher at the house. One was provided the next day.- The water in the hot tub was not clean but at our request the handyman emptied & refilled it with clean water.- 3 gardeners and handyman appeared on Saturday (although the yard was already very neat) with no advance notice and were able to access the locked gate & enter the backyard without asking us for permission. - We had a very regrettable burglary later that day - someone snuck into the Master Bedroom from the backyard (beach-side) through an unlocked patio door while we were cooking/eating in another part of the house. They stole a purse, subsequently using the credit cards. Police are investigating. The management was sympathetic when they learned of the crime, but offered no particular assistance. We traveled to Hawaii to celebrate our 50th Anniversary - this house was a wonderful gathering place for my 2 sons and their families!! It was everything as advertised!! Great layout, spacious rooms and easy access to the yard and beach! The hot tub was a plus! It was super neat & clean with lots of areas to cluster in - there were 10 of us and we rented paddleboards & kayaks for the week and loved having the beach in front. We did not have any trouble getting 3 cars out & about each day- The location made it easy going to all the sites! Wonderful family memories- hated to leave!

Location is amazing and although the beach has a lot of coral and seeweed that washes up, the water is beautiful and not deep at all. Yes, it's right on the main highway but parking and leaving was not difficult, and we had a 10 passenger van. The room behind the kitchen (2 king beds) stays the coolest and the 3 rooms at the other end tend to get the hottest during the day with no a/c. A/C works great when we had to use it. We stayed 7 days and had to buy more toilet paper, paper towels and laundry powder. The faucet in the bathroom showers are difficult to regulate (especially in the master) and probably need to be repaired, but the rental agency was receptive when I suggested this. We would 100% stay there again.

The home was everything we expected.
There was eight of us, mostly family, and the rooms fit perfectly with the group.

Overall it was a great experience, but first impression was really bad as I found dog or animal feces in front of the gate leading into the shoreline. It was cleaned up a couple of days after, but it was pretty disgusting due to the heat.

This property has amazing view at nice area in Hawaii. I grew up near there so I knew the area was very nice. It was kinda hard to get into parking but people in Hawaii are very nice to slow down and wait for us to park. We parted 3 mini vans. The place has 3 room and extra room that used to be a garage but it wasn’t too bad. However, there was mold on bathroom windows they made me feel worry about our kids. Everything else was very good.

The house was great for our family of 12. It was nice to have 4 bedrooms and bathrooms. Plenty of towels, and beach towels. We loved the outside deck area. We did cook many of our meal and there were enough pots and pans, but could use more larger bowls and some basic spices. There was a spice rack but most of the spice bottles were empty. The 2 refrigerators came in handy. Nice to have the large washer and dryer. Plenty of detergent for washing. The house was in a good location for our day trips. We enjoyed our stay and would book again.

The beach house was well located, in very good condition with good access to the bay and local beach. Had everything needed for our stay, including all the necessary kitchen accessories. Only problems were the TVs were out of sync and it was difficult controlling the ceiling fans. Would suggest some detailed instructions for both. Well worth the costs and everyone enjoyed our vacation.

Not stocked well but we disagree completely. It was more stocked than we have had b4. I had Walmart deliver lots of things that were already there to use. Cleaning supplies, laundry pods, toilet paper … that would really have lasted our entire stay. Dish washing liquid , hand soap etc. yes it is busy road but big mirror to help you pull out. Could use some deeper cleanings in bathrooms etc, however it wasn’t a deterrent as it was beautiful and worked well for our family.

We had a great experience staying at this property. Each couple had their own bedroom and bathroom. Plenty of room for all of us to relax indoors or outdoors and we used the hot tub as it was colder and rainy during our stay. It’s a beautiful view but there are a lot of shells on the beach so you need footwear. We didn’t swim in the ocean as the water wasn’t as clear or pretty as other parts of the island. We opted to go to the north shore for snorkeling and beach time. The kitchen was fairly well stocked. We opted to purchase plastic cups and plates as we just didn’t want to continue to do dishes but we ate a lot of meals “in.” Plenty of paper towel, TP, detergent, etc. which we didn’t expect but was a nice surprise. Other rentals we’ve stayed don’t have these items stocked. The location is nice that it’s outside the really busy city areas. However it is on a busier highway than we expected and was a little tricky getting in and out of the driveway. The road noise was louder during peak hours but wasn’t too much of a bother as we got used to it. Again, all minor things. Overall it was a fantastic stay and absolutely no issues. Easy to check in and out.

The location of the house was good. The fact you could walk out back door right on the beach was so convenient. Sunsets were 10/10. Backyard overall: chairs, hot tub, lawn- all awesome. You can hear the road traffic from inside the house, which didn’t bother me at all until nighttime when trying to sleep. The largest concern for our group was the cleanliness of the house. The pictures of this home are beautiful, but they must be old pictures because the house was dirty, so bad I wouldn’t stay here again. Some examples: theoff-white tile in one of the bathrooms you could only see in the corners, otherwise it was dark brown/black and dirty. One of the showers had black mold in the seams. There were two geckos in the sunroom (one green one brown). A HUGE June bug in the master bedroom so we had to pick up the bed to get it, under the bed has maybe never been cleaned before, disgusting. Dust piling up so bad you could visibly see it on the beams in sunroom. The vents in the house had dust build up as well. Sheets in one of the beds and a towel had a hole in them. Sock under two different beds from previous renters. Ants in the back bed/bedroom. The couches as well as chairs in kitchen all were stained from previous renters. I can understand wear and tear but they were beyond what would be acceptable. House needs a deep clean for sure. Some other things to note: -One of the ceiling fans must have been uneven so noisy you couldn’t even use - one of the toilet seats was falling off - one of the pocket doors missing a handle - no rugs in any bathrooms or inside any doors - batteries were missing out of a remote - no soup in one of the bathrooms and in kitchen

5535 Kalanianaole is a great vacation rental - for the area the price is right - you are right on the ocean - great snorkeling - we went all over the island and it was only topped by Hanauma Bay. We had everything we needed in the house to support a group of 10.The turn into the property is on a very busy street and can be difficult, but it is not too bad once you get used to it.Communications with the property managers was very difficult.

The house is big and can accommodate over 10 people for sure comfortably. It was clean and really had everything we needed in the kitchen to make meals and coffee. Love the washer and dryer, dishwasher, the 2 refrigerators, the grill and the many bathrooms. Downfalls: this part of the beach washes up a lot of dead coral and it is just piled up on what little beach there is for the property. The back yard is beautiful and the hot tub works great and was clean, but if you are having more then 4 people it would be nice to have a bigger table and more chairs out side to sit and have meals. It is located on major high traffic road and was kind of noisy at times. Overall it was great for us as we did a lot of exploring and really only was there a few hours in the morning and at night.

The property is just as advertised "fantastic". The house is well equipped and the property managers are right on top of things if there is an issue. The ocean view from the deck is peaceful and relaxing. We found the house ideally located - 20 minutes from everything except the north shore. Definitely a great place to enjoy paradise from.

We really enjoyed our stay. The location of the property has its up & down. Meaning the house is located on a busy main Hwy so you need to be very careful when you slow down to enter the property for the following traffic and the same applies for exiting the property there is not a good visual of oncoming traffic as you exit. However, they do have a very large mirror there to assist with this. The UP in this location is it is beautifully located with the beach access in the back yard. The soothing sound of the beach as you relax is definitely plus! Price? WORTH IT!!!

This is our first time renting a house. We usually stayed in condo downtown. We love this house! There was plenty of room for 12 of us! Kahala mall, Longs, WholeFood and Food Land are just 8- 10 mins drive. We love how open concept feeling of the whole house..
The beach is shallow but early morning the water is cleared, calmed and you can see small fishes. We bought water shoes and floaters to enjoy the beach.
Because the house is located right on the beach and has its own private beach, you need to accept that the house is also right on the HwY. Getting in and out of the property can be a Challenge for non experience drivers. During the work week, HWY can get noisy early morning and evening commute hours.
All and all we definitely will come back and rent this house again! Its much more relaxing and just far away enough from downtown!

I very much enjoyed our stay, location is very convenient to Waikiki beach, shopping etc. kitchen had everything we need for a party of six. The only drawback for us was the very rocky beach. I had read all the reviews so I was prepared. ( or thought so) the rocks continue out into the water for many feet. Not ideal for snorkeling in my opinion. We enjoyed our stay in South Shore 35! 4 bed and 4 bath homes aren’t easy to find in such a convenient location to Honolulu. The house worked out well for our multi couples family!Great views, many conversation areas, plenty of parking, and a nice outside space made it an excellent overall choice for us. The beach itself and the 500 yards of very shallow (2-3’) not so clear water weren’t as usable as they were nice to look at. The location was easy to get back and forth to Honolulu, and to get elsewhere on the island. The kitchen was benefitted by 2 full size refrigerators, and plenty of space for multiple people to do their thing. Very solid overall.

The hot tub, proximity to our beach, as well was Waikiki, hiking opportunities, and shopping was great. The only negatives would be traffic noise and lots of coral pieces in our beach area. Our family of 6 had a beautiful weeklong stay at this spacious home. It was perfect for our entire family, with ample space to spread out. The backyard area was so relaxing, with lounge chairs, hot tub, and the ocean. We waited for high tide to go snorkeling in the backyard, seeing so many fish, sea turtles, and even rays!!! Seeing the spotted eagle ray swimming gracefully was one of my favorite moments. We grilled delicious dinners and ate out on the lanai. The only drawback to this house was the location on the highway… traffic noise overpowered the noise of the ocean waves at times. However, the sound of air conditioners and fans helped mask the noise. Our entire family of 3 generations absolutely loved this home. Maybe we’ll have the opportunity to stay again?!?

The house was wonderful and exactly as pictured. Great location if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki but still want to be relatively close to activities, places to eat, and grocery stores. We comfortably fit two vehicles in the driveway. It was nice to have two fridges, but unlike many VRBOs the kitchen is not stocked with much cookware or staples like oil, salt, etc. Regardless it was a terrific place to stay.

Pros: Beautiful property and very well cared for! There were multiple people that came by to either check/clean the hot tub, clean the exterior windows, and the management team was quick to respond/address our needs/concerns the entire time we were there.
Cons: For as much as we paid to rent the property for 10 days, we felt that there could be some minor details that could've been handled or done differently. 1) We used the gas grill the first night and then when we went to use it again there was no gas in the tank (mgmt was quick to replace it, would be a good idea to check the level before each guest). 2) We saw that there was a coffee machine that was broken in the closet and it was clearly a much better quality than the college dorm one that it was replaced with. 3) While teams came to check on the hot tub they didn't once add water to it, nor did they clean it.
Overall, this property is located in a great area of the island. As a former local, this is a very safe area of the island. The only concern is getting out of the driveway as its on the main hwy (there is a large mirror so you can see the oncoming traffic). We enjoyed our stay here and it more than accommodated our large party of 7. Its a beautiful home!

The home was accurate to description. The convenience of use of home amenities and the ocean made our vacation a great experience for the 10 of us! Shopping is close including Safeway, Longs (CVS), Costco and Ross for all your home and food needs. We left a couple beach chairs, snorkel sets and pool noodles ( duct tape 2 together for floating in the ocean) seeing that the home didn’t include beach items- we bought a couple pairs of swim shoes at Ross as needed walking over coral debris. Owners please invest in a kayak for use as reef is at least a quarter mile out so plenty of room to paddle. We found beach area with shore breakwater up the East coast not too far away so kids could body and boogie board surf. Only downsides: kitchen could use a large crockpot as many family dishes can be done that way and wish Hawaii recycled more (we are big recycling folks) as only 1 receptacle and mgt helped us with additional volume for the week. We would rent again- until then!

The house is so peaceful. In east Honolulu away from the crowds but 30 minutes to everything, 1 hour to north shore. Listen to the ocean lap softly at your door. Lounge on the hammock and look at the moon, lay on the daybed and read your book. The beach is most suited foe walking and wading as it is shallow w lots of coral though renting a delivered kayak would work as well. We swam and local beaches.

Just in entering the house,all young families shouted with joy "Hawaii,cheer!" looking out to the ocean in front.The location is truly great.To the east KOKO head,to the west a lovely local beachpark and in the front ,wide blue sea and far offshore sea deepblue with white wave tops.Beutiful!,never boring senenry ,indeed.Though covered by coral reef inshore,somewhere in reef caves we could find many fishes as in Hanauma Bay.In the evening we had great barbecue parties on the wide terrace cooking the local foods got at near-by Wholefood or COSTCO and beefs,vegetablesfruits are good and reasonable as same in Tokyo.The house stands along with the highway and we had some fear of noise but the central cooling system does work and we could almost shutout it.A terrace lamp and kitchen disposal got wrong once but maintenance people came and fixed them very soon. So,we had no trouble at all.If somethings to add for more comfortabe , more lighting over the entire terrace,shelter coverfor tables and chairs against sudden rain showerand safety measures for hammmock riders not to fall on the stone walls aside.Anyway,we all family,had a very,very good timeduring the week long stay.Thank you very much ,Hawaii Beach Homes ! We had a wonderful stay at South Shore 35! The view was beautiful and the access to the beach was perfect. We just had a few suggestions.-Bed sheets and blankets weren't completely clean. Sheets were stained and blankets had dust on them.-Shower faucet in room behind kitchen were switched. The cleaning of the unit was insufficient. We had to clean after arrival. Maintenance is a little more necessary for the facilities. The shower had bad plumbing, and water went out of many places. The comings and goings by car were dangerous without vanity.
Because I am good, as for us, a position, a view, the layout thinks that I become best if I care for it a little more.

We were ten friends that stayded in the house, and we really liked it! Everything was in order. The only thing I can complain about is the Internet, it disconnected a lot. Also, if you are a light sleeper, you can hear the traffic in one of the bedrooms.
Having four bathrooms was really practical, and both bus and a market was nearby. We would absolutely recommend the property.

This house was perfect for our family. Our daughter, husband and their 2 children (ages 5 and 6 months) along with our other daughter, husband and 9 year old daughter spend 10 days. We were on the island for our son's wedding to native girl. The wedding was fantastic. It was nice to have Thanksgiving on the beach with all of us including our son, his new bride and her mother and sister. It was truly memorable. We took the children to several beaches during our stay, but they like the "backyard beach" the best. One of the nice things that often gets overlooked is all the small things that typically need to be bought the first day; bath soap, hand soap, paper towels, condiments, etc. All of these were already in the home. As we ran out we purchased more and left behind what we did not use. The house was is nicely equipped with pots, pans, dishes, glassware although more silverware would be nice. We left the meat thermometer from our turkey dinner. Overall this house was perfect for this trip. Amanda from Hawaii Beach Homes went out of her way for us last year when we were looking for a property for this special event. Mahalo!

Stayed 7 nights in September. We had a wonderful family vacation with 6 adults and 1 toddler. Very spacious and open. Loved the view even from inside the house. Wonderful yard and deck area to lounge outside. The reps for Hawaii Beach Homes are wonderful. Would definitely stay again.
