Beautiful view and we really enjoyed that. The bed was aged and not very comfortable and pillows were old as well, slightly stained yellow bedding is primary and should be upgraded We like that the building had security because area was questionable and lots of homeless encampments.

We had a wonderful time at this property. The condo was very clean and the communication with the owner was prompt and always positive. The condo has everything you would need to have a relaxing time on a semi-private beach that is beautiful. The property is located in a remote location of the island that very much appealed to us. There is a full grocery story located just to the south of the property. If you want the convenience of upscale restaurants and shopping, you should stay in the city. If you want to experience the lifestyle of the locals, this is your place. We enjoyed the food trucks, talking to the residents of the property and the peace and quiet that this condo has to offer. We would definitely stay here again if we come back.

Such a great place to stay. Far away from town which is great. We wanted somewhere private and quiet. Oahu was small enough we get to drive everywhere, everyday. The private beach was a huge plus. View was great sunsets were amazing water is clean no garbage floating around ,the security guards and staff were cool guys,other residents varied in attitude toward you but most were pleasant,parking was easy and the condo amenities are very nice.For future guests learn how to operate the front windows and you wont need AC.A few negitives thou the beach has a mean undertoe becareful,there are alot of homeless around but for the most part they are harmless other than yelling profanity at each other in the early mornings also was not informed of construction on the beach side they were very noisy the first 3 days of the week and for future guest's its a 2yr project.Bed matress is like a futon not very comfortable,watch the fan blades in the bathroom,bugs and geckos get in because the front door it needs a new seal around it no big deal.The sound of waves is nice for sleeping again when the bums are not fighting.Food is great and everywhere dont listen to the other crybaby reviews but road construction can put you behind if you have plans.Dont get me wrong for the most part this is a really nice place and location. We had a spectacular time,the things i listed are minor and some can be easily solved or ignored the price should be prorated based on whats going on around the condo at the time of booking.Honesty about what is happening around there goes a long way at least with me.Thank you Adam and Jill i will definitely consider another vacation at your place.

The view is amazing. Just a few steps away from the beach. It is a bit away from the crowded heart of Oahu. But with your car everything you need is just 5 minutes away. Concerning the missing AC, if you open both sided windows you get a quite good breath. The only downside was the bed, which was bit of old und the mattress had its best days gone. The floor also a bit of dirty. But beside of this it was a nice stay

The condo is in great shape - nicely upgraded. The views from the balcony were beautiful! The only issue is the neighborhood. We like to explore where we are staying and didn't feel safe walking around outside of the complex, during the day or night. Unfortunately there are quite a few homeless encampments nearby. Luckily, the beach is semi-private and we felt safe on the beach, right outside of the condo.

My fault for not making sure there was AC. The beach there is amazing, a great place to swim. amazing view. Mico fiber sheets for a hot room was not working for me. one roll toilet paper and one trash bag. If you need more bring some as I could not find any extra. bath towels clean but smelly. They do have fans which helped.

We rented the unit for a week stay on Oahu. The unit accomidated myself, husband and two daughters 5 and 13. The unit overall was great. The beach view every morning over coffee topped the list. The unit was very clean with updated kitchen and bathroom. The Lanai was great with a bar for eating/drinking while people watching and enjoying the scenery. We really enjoyed having all beach equipment readily available. Saved us a lot and made our beachbl days great. Two lounge chairs, small icechest, sand toys, boogie board and plenty of snorkel gear. Communication was quick and easy. Many people dont visit the west side as much which is understandable with the large homeless population however, we were only met with aloha from everyone. The beach for this unit is very private and we had no issue's. Having lived on oahu for 4 years, in 2010, we were excited to be back.we will definitely be back to stay for our next visit.

We loved this place! Everything about the cabanas is geared toward the beach- chairs, umbrella, nice lainae, constant breeze. We saw several turtles and lots of fish snorkeling. Nice sand. Great for a family. Yes, it is in a grittier area and I wouldn’t walk around the neighborhood alone at night, but I always felt safe on the beach with my girls. Couldn’t ask for more at this price!

This property has the most amazing view from the Lanai! This is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen and it is deserted most of the day.The sand is luxurious and pristine. We very much enjoyed our stay and the location was very convenient to beaches, hikes, restaurants and snorkeling with the dolphins and turtles!

The view of the beach and the beach itself were amazing. The neighborhood and restaurant choices that were really close to the place were not great. Also, the condo did not have air conditioning - which we noticed when we entered the unit. The listing does not indicate air conditioning - which I realized after the fact, but it seems odd to me that air conditioning would not be included in a residence in Hawaii.

My brother and I were fortunate to stay at this wonderful property. We were on Oahu for a stressful family event and this place turned out to be the perfect respite.
We decompressed while drinking coffee on the deck and watching the ocean and occasional sea turtles swimming by in the surf. The view is incomparable and more beautiful than the photos show. Plus, it's void of the noise and craziness of tourists so easily found in other places around the island. I didn't know a place list this could exist on Oahu . . . let alone so close to Honolulu and Waikiki.
There was a minor glitch getting into the unit, but Adam was wonderfully responsive and had things taken care of in a timely manner.
My brother said the bed was comfortable. I slept on the futon sofa bed and it was also comfortable. Nice and firm.
The family event we came for was a less-than-stellar experience, but it was greatly offset by the opportunity to stay in this lovely unit.

We stayed at this property for 8 nights. You cannot get a better view for the price. You are literally on the beach. The sunsets were breathtaking and there is nothing better than falling asleep to the sound of the waves. It was very nice to have beach chairs for us to use. We saw turtles in the water on several occasions. The laundry room was easily accessible and we used it several times. As mentioned in other reviews, the west side of the island does have a large amount of homeless living in tents on the beaches on the way to the condo. It was a non issue for us. The security guards and everyone else we met around the property were super nice and friendly. We never felt unsafe on the beach where this condo is located, however, we would not have ventured out after dark. We are from a ruraI area so the drive to get to a Walmart or Target (around 20 minutes) didn’t feel far for us. We enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate booking this condo again.

The view and proximity to the beach cannot be beat, but the 2 miles of homeless camps and large amounts of trash put a damper on our vacation. There’s a small cafe open until 1, other places seem to open whenever they want- went a few times & they were never open, tons of fast food close by, but you’ll have to drive about 30 min for a decent place for dinner. You also are allotted 1 roll of paper towels and 1 roll of toilet paper. We stayed for 8 nights & were left a half roll of each. I emailed the owner within an hour of checking in about this- they never responded. Largely regret not staying in a hotel. This was my husbands 1st time on Oahu & he was less than impressed.

This place is a jewel. Our balcony, with screened sliding glass doors, stayed open always when we were present, for the wonderful breezes but most of all for the million dollar view and the sound of the surf. Here for a family wedding on the island, we had relatives staying elsewhere, including on resorts, who were jealous when we shared photos of our view. We had all our breakfasts here, made picnic lunches, and could easily have cooked dinners in the well equipped modern kitchen and shared gas grill. patio if we hadn't been going to wedding and rehearsal dinners. We loved the nearby small towns, the Tamura grocery store (excellent) just down the road, the slow driving speeds, the feeling of natural rural Hawai'i...We aren't the types who needed or craved landmark sightseeing, Waikiki or shopping, just quiet and peaceful times with nature and local folks to converse with. Swimming at the nearby Pokai Bay protected beach was heavenly. The beach at the condo was gorgeous and had few visitors. Its surf and undertow were a bit too much for my wife and even once or twice for me, but it was great to walk along, wade and enjoy. The queen bed was very comfortable, and despite the lack of A/C even on the hot days we were fine with airflow front to back (screened balcony doors and bank of louvre windows in the living room). There are also two floor fans and three ceiling fans. The condo was clean as a whistle and the building well organized.

Property was perfect for our needs. Out exploring all day and back to condo for sunset. Lanai was the perfect place to watch the sunset and so close to ocean you practically looked straight down to see the beach. Would be hard to find a better place to watch the sunset. This is an unsafe area. Wai'anae and Makaha are very depressed areas of Oahu. When we mentioned where this VRBO was located to an Uber driver and other Oahu residents they were shocked that we went there. There are homeless encampments all along the public beaches from 1/4 of a mile to 8 miles from the apartment. And our Uber driver told us there have been several recent shootings in Makaha. There are no restaurants in the area other than fast food. We drove 1/2 hour for Denny's.
The apartment has upgraded cabinets and countertops, but an apparent (and admitted by hosts) bug problem. There are roach pills ON the kitchen countertop and other bug traps in lower cabinets. There is a double bed in the bedroom and an old futon in the living room. The bathroom has a legit ceiling fan; half over the shower and half over the toilet. When we arrived at 1:00 am, the apartment was stifling hot. We had to open the hurricane shutters off the bedroom and upper jalousie windows. Our hosts should have opened them before our arrival so we wouldn't notice the heat. Maybe they know it's unsafe to do so. The apartment somewhat cooled off during the night. There is no air conditioning. I have pictures of everything.
The next morning, when we saw the area and conditions, we decided it was not safe to stay there. We left anyway. The hosts would not refund our money and defended the listing. The beach is pretty. I believe their 4.9 rating is totally fake.

We immediately felt like we were finally on vacation when we arrived after a stay in a busy area in Waikiki. This is what you picture when you imagine your Hawaii vacation. My wife and I were a little worried after realizing there was no AC as we came from Texas where it was 105 degrees. But when we opened the front windows and balcony doors the constant breeze kept it very comfortable the whole stay. The views and private beach were amazing and the property owner supplied beach gear, snorkels, chairs, fishing gear, a cooler, ect. Everything you would want to enjoy your time at the beach. Can't recommend it enough!

We had a wonderful time. The beach was absolutely beautiful! The condo itself was clean. The building had mostly retired individuals, winter vacationers so we felt safe and welcomed. The area does have several homeless camps, but we felt safe at the condo. Don’t let the surrounding area discourage you as the beach and the view is completely worth it! I would recommend arriving in daylight if possible. Owners were wonderful in their communication!

Possibly the best view and accommodation for the price on the island. My wife and I watched the sunset from our private balcony most nights. Having a full kitchen allowed us to linger over homemade breakfasts. You can hear the waves while in bed.
A few things to be aware of:
1. Waianae has the largest homeless encampment on the island. You will drive by and see tents. There are stray dogs and cats, some of whom visibly need medical care. While the surrounding area is poor, the people were some of the friendliest, most genuine, and talkative we encountered.
2. Expect to drive about 30 minutes to get anywhere. Makaha/Waianae is not in touristy at all, and you'll have to leave the area to get to popular destinations. But it's also quiet and has none of the crowds and noise you'll find in Waikiki or resorts.
3. The beach can be gnarly. My wife teaches ocean swimming in Los Angeles, and I surf twice a week, but the waves were too wild for us most days. That said, I did manage to surf when the waves shaped up. We also saw sea turtles, seals, and whales at the beach.
If you're looking for a top-notch view, a spot away from all the noise, and you're aware of the caveats, it's hard to beat Sonny and Adam's place.

There was some issues with a certain female security officer regarding our rental and getting a parking permit to park inside the gate on the property the very first day, she was extremely rude but I spoke to the property manager and they were going to address the issue. The owners were quick in responding. Great communication! The condo is in a nice quiet location away from crowded beaches of Waikiki. The view to the condo is amazing! I wish we would have had more time to spend their on the lanai. We were able to catch a couple sunsets there but we had plans for each day sightseeing and exploring the entire island in our rental car. But the condo was in a great location to come back and just chill after our fun filled day! I have already recommended this place to a few friends and would definitely stay here again!

If you want to get away from the crowds this beach is great. Very few people here. The homeless community is close by and tents are in sight but no one ever bothered us. Unit is definitely small but perfect for a couple. We enjoyed watching the sunset from our balcony.

I rented this place for my son and new daughter in law for their honeymoon. The view is amazing and the house was as advertised. I had asked the owners to help me surprise the kids with a bottle of wine and leis to celebrate and they did! It was an amazing gesture. I hope we can go back.

The best part of the condo is the view. You have a beautiful view of the beach and ocean, and the sunsets are gorgeous! The condo was very clean, and everything worked great. The kitchen is well stocked with things you need to cook with, and there were some spices in the cabinet. It was roomy enough for my husband, two small kids, and myself. They have two beach chairs and a beach umbrella (it was broken, but we still made it work). There's no AC, which I missed when I booked the condo, but the breeze that comes through makes it comfortable. The only thing I didn't like was there road noise that can be heard in the living room where the fold out couch is and the outside lights, which made it hard for my kids to fall asleep at night. If no one sleeps in the living room, it's not a big deal though. We had a great stay and would recommend this place.

We had mixed feelings about this place. Overall our stay was great, but not sure we'd stay here again. Let me explain why.
The location is stunning. You have your own beach that feels so private. The other side of the complex boasts mountain views also very stunning. However, this condo is so far up the west coast that it takes nearly an hour to get to any of the other popular places on the island. We did not consider this when we booked. We spent so much time in the car that we wasted about 12 hours of our trip just driving.
The condo does not have any air conditioning. There is a nice breeze that blows through the unit from front to back if you have the front windows open and the sliding door open. The unit is similar to a studio with no door to the bedroom. Everything is just open which is good for the air flow but bad if you have kids and want some privacy. The view from the balcony is amazing and we even saw sea turtles swimming in the water from where we were sitting.
The condo is located on a part of the island that has a massive and mean MASSIVE homeless community. You will drive by miles of homeless camps to get to the condo. Though after days of being on the island it seems like there is something to it like some folks appear to have chosen that life.
Every day we felt more and more comfortable in the condo watching the surfers at 6 am and hanging out on the beach till the evenings watching the magnificent sunsets. If you are looking for a place to eat nearby there is a really cool spot 604 Beach House that a local told us about that has a large patio and a full bar.
If I could move this condo with its beach closer to town then that's what I would do. But alas it's so private and secluded BECAUSE of it's location. We did enjoy our stay, but due to proximity it's not likely we will stay again.

Even though the check in process was not great, I must say that our overall stay was great! We enjoyed our stay in Hawaii. The apartment had basic items to cook your own meals. The beach toys were in good condition, but the umbrella was broken. We had to go to Costco to purchase a new one, it’s a must under the Hawaiian sun. I would definitely go back!

I have been in all 50 states and many other countries. This might be my favorite rental of all time. If you want relaxing beach time, stay here. If you want shopping and fine dining, stay in Honolulu. We did both. The snorkeling and beach are at least as nice as Electric Beach and much less crowded. Be sure to go to the rocky area south of the condo to watch the turtles! We spent hours on the lanai in the mornings and evenings. Just fantastic! The unit is well furnished and modern with a great shower and comfy bed. We had trouble finding good dining in the area and there are not a lot of attractions. I do recommend the Mermaid Caves. The Waianae area is not the greatest but there are a couple of good groceries in the area and we never felt unsafe.

The nearby homeless community keeps to themselves and we never witnessed anyone asking for money. Also there is no AC but it truly wasn’t missed, the nightly temps on the island are great!

We love listening to the sound of the waves and watching the view of the sunset from the unit. We spent so much time out in the lanai. We ate breakfast at the lanai while watching turtles surface in the water. The condo is located on the west coast so it was quite a bit of a drive to the East and North Shore but we enjoyed sightseeing so it wasn't a big deal. We pretty much covered the whole island. The place is gated so it felt safe.

You'll need a car to get shopping, dining, etc. but... you'll be hard-pressed to be motivated to leave. We were enchanted by the waves, both from our 5th floor balcony and from the wonderful sand beach. While waves were spectacular, they are sometimes a bit too rough to go swimming. That drew surfers, which was fun to watch. We saw whales in the distance and sea turtles not far from shore.
The unit had everything we needed, with a well appointed kitchen and everything needed for beach fun (including a cooler for trips away).
Not the cheapest stay in the area, but it certainly earned its rate. We'd love to come back.

We enjoyed our stay at this cozy condo. The condo is right on the beach! The beach was quiet and we enjoyed our time at the beach. Please note that the beach is very steep with very strong undertow. I booked this Condo not realizing how far away this property is from all major Oahu attractions. During our stay there was some contruction on the only road that takes you out to the mainland. This made getting back to the Condo everyday very hectic as we would be stuck in traffic for 30-45 mins. The distance from mainland seems less in miles but the speed limits and traffic add up the time significantly. Food options are also limited around this property. The property was clean and came with all basic amenities. Sitting at the balcony drinking coffee in the morning and Wine at night watching sunset were highlights of our stay here. It rained heavily the day of our arrival and our balcony was flooded when we got there. It didn't dry up for the 1st 2 days. The balcony chair cushions also got soaked. The TV remote in the bedroom didn't work. There was a minor hiccup during our check-in as the previous renters didnot keep the keys in Lockbox but the cleaning lady was nice enough to drive up to dropoff the spare keys.

My wife and I were celebrating our 25th anniversary by going to Oahu for the first time and this place didn’t disappoint at all! What a gem! The beach is right there and it is unimaginably gorgeous and relatively private. The room was very clean and you cannot beat the view from the bedroom. It was so surreal going to bed every night listening to sound of the ocean! The breeze through the room gives no need for AC. We were no more than 25 miles from everything (North Shore, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, etc) which was convenient for us. This unit is clean, updated, beautiful and amazing and we’d be so honored to stay here again!!!

We never had to leave our room to experience the beauty of the beach, ocean and sunsets. The property was remodeled and updated, so it was a joy to stay there. When we did venture out, the beach was easily accessible and amenities were easy to access.

The Makaha area is not luxurious. However, if what you are looking for is a place by the ocean, you can't get closer than this one. All that stands between your lanai and the ocean is some sand and a palm tree. The building is older, so the condo isn't large, but this unit has been updated. The owners were quick to respond to a question about checking in. We were a bit surprised to see homeless encampments in the general vicinity, but security for the building is strong. You will love watching the sunset from the lanai.

The view from this 5-th floor apartment is gorgeous. The building itself is a little dated and need some facelift, but the location is superb. You can literally step from the lobby onto the wide sandy beach. A lot of dining /shopping options in a 1-2 mile distance from the condo.

Me and my wife stayed here for 9 nights and loved every minute. The condo is amazing. The view of the ocean from our balcony was breathtaking. It’s a bit of a drive to most of the well known beaches and tourists sites, but it is also a very quite community. I guess you can’t have it all. I would highly recommend staying here. The owners were very helpful, and quick to respond. We loved it.

This condo has everything you need for your beach stay. Property was very clean and had the essentials. We were concerned about the lack of AC, but the cool night breezes flow front the front to back of the unit. While driving up from the airport we did get concerned about the area. Once we arrived we found the location was perfect and private.

This trip for us was very special. My husband was born and raised on the island and had to leave due to health reason. Those conditions have become severe and he may not make it back again. There many times when this trip was stressful, but not this rental. Everything went perfectly. The condo was perfect. The few was beautiful, everything was as described. I was located close to all of our family that are still on the island. We enjoyed every minute. The cabanas were quiet and everyone was very friendly. Would absolutely recommend to friends.

This condo is perfect for a honeymoon. When you look out your window the view is amazing and you feel as though you could touch the water- that close. The beach is quiet and romantic. The condo was clean and we felt safe here. Locals in the building were friendly. Enjoy!

The views from this condo are spectacular - both the beach and mountain views! We loved this quiet and beautiful beach. The condo was equipped with everything we could need. We especially appreciated the great new Tommy Bahama beach chairs and beach umbrella. We really enjoyed exploring the beautiful beaches nearby, and the notebook with local info was very helpful.

Was perfect for our small family of three. It was a wonderful experience. We loved eating our meals on the lanai, being able to come home from our eventful days and relaxing on the beach out back. The beach itself is as close to a hidden gem as you will find. Even on the weekends it is significantly less crowded than most you will find...even though it is as pristine a beach as you will find.
