Absolutely fabulous place to stay by the best beaches on the island. This was the perfect rental for our family, which included my 10-year-old daughter. The ocean-view from the ourdoor balcony is dreamy, the outdoor patio/garden is a Zen retreat, the inside was perfectly clean, well-designed, and outfitted with all you need. Beach gear included towels, boogie boards, and chairs (we didn’t see kids’ beach toys, though they may have been hiding). Do bring your own coffee (non provided). I would not hesitate to recommend this place to my dearest friends.

Second stay in this little house, and we'll definitely try to book it again. Manager response was quick and positive when we requested an additional day - hooray! Bed very comfortable; kitchen with so many cooking items that I was tempted to actually prepare meals, lol. The fragrance of the plants and citrus trees on property was the icing on this fabulous cake.

We are thankful that we found this place, neighborhood is quiet and you feel "kūloko" (local) and welcomed.
Comfortable bedrooms, well stocked kitchen, relaxing Zen garden, Scenic Lani upper deck, perfect for morning coffee sunrises, happy hour sunsets, and exploring stars at night.
Joe, the host, was more than accommodating and available any time you need help or have questions (thanks, Joe).
Attention to details are what make this property special, modern kitchen, plenty of seating inside and out, outdoor shower, grill, boogie boards, air-conditioning, and decorated with style and class.
We have been fortunate to travel and have stayed at numerous VRBO properties, and this one stands out as one of the best all around !
So grateful we found this place, hope you get a chance to experience it yourself.

Vacationing with adult children. Lovely home in a quiet neighborhood. The location was perfect for us. We specifically did not want to stay in a big resort and this cottage is in close proximity to the northern Kohala Coast beaches so a great alternative. Easy drive to north and east sides of island as well and to Kailua-Kona. Great base for our trip.
Super comfortable beds, nice living room with comfortable seating with large screen TV. Very well-equipped kitchen and nice dining area. Lanai was amazing - extending the living space with another dining table and grill PLUS large area with seating for kicking back and relaxing PLUS the upper deck for early morning coffee and sunsets. Outdoor shower was great - you'll need it after the beach! Washer/dryer was one of my prerequisites for our trip and came in handy throughout the stay. Air conditioning was welcome for relief from the heat later in the afternoons. Overhead ceiling fans also available in all rooms.
Property manager was very nice, super responsive and helpful with any questions we had.
There was also a detailed book containing helpful information about the cottage and things to do on the island.
I highly recommend this property!

We really enjoyed our recent 5 night stay at Hale Hapuna. The house was very clean. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was the most well-stocked of any vacation rental at which we've ever stayed. We loved spending time relaxing and eating dinner on the lanai and watching the sunset and nighttime sky from the upper deck. The neighborhood was quiet. It's an easy 15-20 minute drive to Waimea, Hawi, and the Mauna Lani resort area. I was worried that we'd feel isolated but that was definitely not the case. We never ended up swimming at Spencer Beach Park but it looked like a great family-friendly beach. We visited the Pu'ukohola Heiau (adjacent to Spencer Beach Park) and had shave ice in Kawaihae. We would definitely stay here again!

This property is absolutely beautiful. Attention to details in both the inside and outside. The patios are amazing! We could see the ocean during the day and the Milky Way at night from the upper patio. All the necessities and then some were readily available - beach bags, beach towels, chairs/umbrellas. It made for an easy and enjoyable trip to the many white sand beaches nearby. Thank you, Joseph, for everything!

We loved our stay here! This is a small but very comfortable bungalow with a fantastic backyard. We loved sitting at the top of the deck for the beautiful view. The kitchen is the best rental kitchen I've ever cooked in. The beds are super comfortable and there are ample towels and supplies. We loved everything about it! We really appreciated the adventure suggestions and had such a fun time exploring that part of the island.

This was such a great spot for my family to stay on the tail end of our Big Island trip! Plenty of room for everyone, the kitchen was well equipped and the outdoor areas were beautiful. It was close to beaches and to Waimea. Getting to Kona was only a little bit of a trek of 40 minutes. Communication was great! They even had the AC running for us when we arrived. The wifi was consistent and strong (my husband could conduct a few Zoom meetings while we were there). It's a beautiful and thoughtfully well appointed bungalow. Would definitely stay there again.

We would highly recommend staying in this beautiful home. The backyard is very secluded and well taken care of. We had a day that was very windy but the backyard is so protected we sat outside and enjoyed the Hawaiian heat without the wind. We would definitely stay here again.

Our stay at Hale Hapuna was one of the best stays we've every had in Hawaii. The house was clean, roomy, and very well stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable vacation. The kitchen was by far the best stocked kitchen we've ever seen - pots, pans, utensils, appliances, dinner ware, towels - the works. Plus all the staples were in the cupboards - be sure to check in before you hit the grocery store because it probably is already there. The outdoor grill was top quality and worked great. The out door space was great. The lower area had a sun filter over part of it, and a roof over the other part with tables and chairs even a water feature. The washer and dryer worked great and we certainly made use of them. Our favorite outdoor part was the upper deck - it had a 360 view from the ocean in front to the mountains in back. It was the perfect place for coffee in the morning and the sunset and star gazing in the evening. Inside the unit each bedroom and the living had their own air conditioners which worked very well. We turned them off when we were gone, and even though it was warm inside when we returned, they cooled down the entire house in less than 15 minutes. The property manager, Joe, was friendly and very responsive to anything we needed and even had a defective water heater replaced in less than 2 days! He lives next door, so communication was efficient and easy. The location is very convenient to Mauna Kea and Hapuna Beaches, and Spencer beach park is just 2 minutes down the road. Even though this tiny neighborhood is close to the main road, we did not hear road noise inside the house. It was quiet and very private. We really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay here again. Mahalo to Joe - thank you for all you did for us.

We were fortunate to spend a week at Hale Hapuna and it was ideal for us - 2 of us for 5 nights, joined by our daughter's family for the final 2. King beds were sooo comfortable, and this home is impressively stocked with any kitchen item one might require. Best of all, the location! Mere minutes from gorgeous Hapuna Beach and perfectly sited for Hawaii's Kohala Coast. We hope to return.

Such care taken in designing the outdoor area. Every amenity was thought of and taken care of. Beach chairs,, beach towels snorkel, towels, extra house keys, laundry soap etc! It’s all there. 6+ stars
Only down size for us was 6 adults sharing one bathroom. Someone was always waiting to use it when we were there.

The house was perfect for our family of 3. We could have comfortably had 2 additional people with us, since there is an extra bedroom. The kitchen is well stocked if you like to cook, and there are all of the beach items you need to enjoy nearby beaches. Chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, and beach bags! The location is perfect! So close to the Hapuna beach and the big resorts. And also just a short drive to Waimea for larger grocery stores and farmers markets. The outdoor space is wonderful, and fully enclosed for privacy. Check-in was so easy, and the house was actually available for us to check in early which was so awesome since our flight came in earlier in the day. Joe is a great host, and checked in with us midway during our trip to make sure everything was going okay. We absolutely loved staying here, and look forward to hopefully booking a stay here in the future.

We had a great stay with our family at Hale Hapuna. Even though the interior is quite small you will find a well equipped kitchen and the outdoor / barbecue area with the terrace and a deck on a higher level is very spacious. From the upper deck you can even see the ocean and the sunsets!
There are beautiful beaches nearby - especially Hapuna Beach and if you can get a parking the beach at Mauna Kea resort hotel.

We loved staying at Hale Hapuna! Not only was it exactly as advertised, but it was just so peaceful and relaxing knowing we had a beautiful property to come home to after a long day of adventuring the Big Island.
My husband and I loved the outdoor space. We read and played cards on the lounge set, ate dinner around the dining room table outside by the BBQ, and stargazed from the rooftop patio (it got very hot up there during the day). We also loved watching the little geckos dart around.
We cooked from home to save some money on eating out and were really grateful for the range of appliances, the use of the BBQ, and all the condiments and spices already present at the house. Our grocery shop was minimal because of this.
We also appreciated having access to laundry so we could pack less!
The bed in the "Volcano" room was very comfortable. The amount of space in this house would be perfect for a family or multiple friends traveling together as there are 2 king beds and a bunk bed in the 3rd bedroom.
We were a bit worried about the location being a bit far, but it really wasn't. In fact, it was close to many of the beaches and golf courses we wanted to go to and made our cross island road trips super easy and convenient because the house is so close to the highways (without any of the highway noise).
We also really appreciated having access to cooler bags, towels, beach chairs and beach umbrellas for these trips. The cooler bags saved us a lot of trouble because we were able to pack lunches from home rather than eating out. We just used plastic water bottles and froze them for icepacks and they worked perfectly. The beach umbrellas helped us with shade at some popular beaches where the shady spots were already taken. These items were very much appreciated!
Hale Hapuna was the perfect spot for some relaxation while also being the perfect jumping off point for adventuring around the island. We loved our stay and have already had friends and family ask us to share the listing so they can stay there as well. The price was right, the communication with Joe was easy and pleasant, and we had a wonderful time. I wish we could have stayed longer.
*Joe was super accommodating and allowed us to check in a bit earlier our first day and gave us a later check out on our last day because of our rental car pick up/drop off times. It was much appreciated! Mahalo Joe!

The location was an easy home base for us to explore the Kona side of the island, and the house was comfortable and clean. What made our stay were the outdoor spaces. We watched the sunset from the upper deck and spent evenings reading and relaxing on the lanai, listening to the fountain. Highly recommend.

What a sweet get-away spot this is, a quiet, private spot away from hustle and bustle yet within close range of wonderful beaches, excellent eating spots, shops, snorkel-tours ect. But the best part is the space itself - squeaky clean, casual and unpretentious yet elegant. Everything you need is there - an amazingly well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, a full range of beach paraphenalia, and three quiet, private, beautifully landscaped outdoor areas. We watched the eclipse from the top deck! We can't wait to go back!

Wonderful modern/updated little bungalow with three bedrooms and amazing outdoor patio area and upper deck with view of ocean. Really well stocked kitchen and easy to use A/C in each room, beautiful and very decorative outdoor eating areas and relaxing areas as well as upper small deck with a view! Kids loved the bunkbeds and the lizards in the yard. The beds are a sort of foam top/softer type bed and I do prefer firmer myself but still very comfortable and house is very clean and very well stocked - lots of beach chairs and other equipment, books about Hawaii and plenty of cooking/kitchen equipment and dishes. Great place to be near Hapuna and Spencer beach area!

This property is beautiful inside and in the backyard. The back patio is like an oasis. The outdoor shower was great for cleaning up after the beach. The deck overlooking the ocean and mountains was beautiful morning and evening. We ate dinner at the outdoor table. Kitchen was better appointed than home and stocked with spices/oils so we could actually cook. Laundry was available and with everything needed. 5 minutes from Spencer beach and less than 10 minutes from Hāpuna State Park. Beach chairs/umbrella were appreciated!

The sunset deck was a wonderful surprise. A chef's kitchen with sharp knives. Pictures do not portray how tranquil and relaxing this space is. Outdoor shower for getting the sand off was a hot with the family. And the location is truly the best, great shave ice in Kawaihai and the best beaches right down the road.

We loved our staycation getaway in this well appointed rental with a shaded Zen garden, water feature, multiple options for seating inside and outside, including a sunset lookout deck. It was generously supplied throughout the house with everything we needed. We ate all of our meals there, mostly outside. Options of ceiling fans, or AC. Our host was great about communication. We look forward to another getaway at Hale Hapuna!

I'm a local on the island and my family wanted a nice place to stay for my birthday. We're from South Kona and we think of the northside as more dry and hot. But after entering the house, there were lots of shade by the entrance and the backyard. There's a zen garden vibe with plenty of comfy seating surrounded by plants. We also loved the sunset deck! The inside was very clean and comfortable as well. It's a small house, but the interior design made it feel spacious. There were water bottles, snacks, and other staples in the kitchen we could use. The kitchen had all we needed to cook dinner, but the next morning, the coffee maker was too small and could only make one or two cups of coffee. Other than that, the kitchen was stocked!

My family and I recently stayed in this Bungalow/Hale located very close to Hapuna State Beach, Mauna Kea Beach Resort, Puako, and Hawi. The house is very private with a parking spot located directly in front of the front gate entrance to the Hale. The house is very clean, nicely decorated, and open for family gathering, entertaining, meal sharing, etc. The outside area is also a great place to gather, entertain, and/or just relax after a fun day at the beach. There is an outdoor shower that is great to clean off sand before you go in the house. The house is also equipped with an air conditioner unit in each room which allows each guest to control their temperature in their room. The area is pretty hot so A/C is important and great that this Hale has it. We really enjoyed our stay here! If you've been to the Big Island before, and know the area, this is a great alternative to staying at one of the resorts because its in such close proximity to all the beaches. You are also close to Waimea, Hawi, and a hop skip and a jump over to the other side to Hilo over the saddle road or Hamakua coastline. Great place! Highly recommended!

What an incredibly well-stocked and zen spot to base some vacation time! It is incredibly organized and check-in/check-out was easy. My cousin and I enjoyed the sunset views (walk out to the street for the actual pop!), the full kitchen and grill, and close proximity to Big Island Brewhaus. Mahalo!

Just a spectacular property. The outdoor living area is spa-like. The upper deck is the perfect morning inspiration/evening relaxation location. The outdoor patio is just a dream setting. The small touches here matter a lot—in every possible area, there are mini power blocks to plug in/USB/charge. By both sides of the bed, near the kitchen table, on the side tables. For 3 teenagers + parents, the place was HUGE—enough room for the teenagers to disappear and get their screen time. This place is so close to Hapuna, you will not believe it exists. Took my wife and 3 adult children to the big island for the week and saw it all so location was great. The back patio and upper deck were great to come back to and as advertised after long day trips to Volcanoes, black sand beaches and snorkling. One bathroom was never an issue and outdoor shower came in handy for us boys. Was a bit hesitant to turn off AC at request of homeowner while we were away from house but it cooled off pretty quickly upon our return. Morning sunrises on the upper deck made for great views of ocean while having breakfast. Quiet neiborhood but small so my morning walks were a bit short so got my exercise on the nearby beaches and hiking trails on the island. Fully loaded kitchen (including a rice cooker, oils and spices) made for easy prep for meals on the lanai. Overall a great stay and would recomend to anyone willing to stay outside the luxury resorts to not pay those prices.

This was our first post-pandemic vacation and although we're all vaccinated it was very important for us to find a place to stay that was away from the crowds. It was also our babymoon so we wanted someplace nice for us to spend some time together as a family of four before we welcomed a new baby girl. This place checked all the boxes and exceeded all of our expectations.
Joe, the property manager, was incredibly responsive and even offered to pick up a few breakfast items for us since we got in late at night when all the stores were closed. We really enjoyed the town of Waimea, about 20 min inland, and it felt much more authentic and less crowded than going out to eat in the touristy resort compounds further south of us. We spent a lot of time at Hapuna beach which is just 10 min away and made good use of the beach chairs and umbrellas that are available at the house to use.
We stayed for two weeks with our two teenage girls and the house was the perfect size for us. The back patio and upper deck gave us plenty of room to spread out and enjoy our surroundings. Many morning coffees and evening beverages were consumed on that upper deck while watching the sunset. None of us wanted to leave and we're hoping to make this special place a regular vacation destination for our family in the future.

Absolutely loved our stay here. The home was so charming and had a great space to offer. Everything from the main home's decor to the lovely deck overlooking the ocean was top notch. We took a quick walk down the street to the neighborhood park and watched a gorgeous sunset over the ocean. Quick drive to the beach, hikes, and shops. If I return to the Big Island, I will definitely stay here again!

Stayed here for two nights at the tail end of our trip after a week+ in Mauna Lani. Location is off the first street (Emmalani) after turning up towards Waimea from hwy19 - 5min from Hapuna, 3min from Spencer. So close to the coast, but the slight elevation made for a noticeable difference in air temp! Easy Waimea and Kawaihae access. The place is not huge - most of the windows are all frosted out, and the king beds (memory foam, too soft and smushy for my taste) take up most of the space in the bedrooms, which makes it a teensy bit claustrophobic - but no big deal for two nights; we spent most of our time on the roof patio anyway (great view, nice breeze) plus, it's so very cute and thoughtfully appointed. The park at the end of the block offers another nice view too. Lots of supplies in the kitchen, coffee maker and ice maker. Really nice personal touches makes it cozy and familiar. Outdoor shower was clutch for 4 adults with one bathroom! We used it almost exclusively. The park at the end of the block offers another nice view too.
Overall, a great place home base for us 4 - any more would be too tight IMO, definitely recommend!
