We stay at Makaha Towers whenever we are in Oahu, It is a great deal for what you get. The views never get old! The towers now however require a daily parking fee of 15 unless you stay for 30 days. So I would advise inquiring if your unit comes with “primary” parking, otherwise you pay for the privilege of hiking back and forth to your car in non-primary areas (not good). Otherwise it’s a great deal if you don’t mind driving a litttle further for your activities in the city!

We've had a great time staying in this condo. We got double gorgeous views: the valley and the ocean. Check-in was easy, the condo was super clean when we got in and looked exactly as advertised; thank you Ken! There were so many wild peacocks roaming around the area and that was a plus, they can be loud but we sleep no problem, had our earplugs with us. The kitchen was well stocked. There are also local grocery store not too far away from the condo. Overall, we love and enjoyed our stay in MVT, thank you once again Ken for making our stay wonderful.

Condo was very clean and well furnished! Extra bedding/blankets, towels for the beach and chairs as well, things you don't often find in VRBO's. Loved the location, it was exactly what I was hoping it would be for our vacation. Upper west side of the island, quiet and the beaches were great and just down at the bottom of the hill, not very touristy at all. Just know traffic can be awful on the H1 at times, and a 40-45 min drive could be an additional 20-40 min depending on time of day and if there is construction work going on. We live out in the country so for us the drive wasn't a big deal since we have to drive. Makaha Valley Towers community was awesome, loved the peacocks and the view is AMAZING! I sent a couple of messages to Ken for info and he responded immediately. Would recommend this stay in a heartbeat if you don't mind the drive, but again, this was EXACTLY what we were looking for. Thank you Ken!

This immense and iconic apartment complex is immaculately kept particularly for its age. Ken's unit is clean and tidy. This complex offers 24/7 security and commanding views of the beautiful landscape from ocean to hilltop. Great amenities such as pool, reasonable parking fees, laundry facilities, and an incredibly friendly staff.

Condo is very nice and overall a great stay. The condo itself is 5 stars. Pros-Gorgeous and updated-Comfortable beds-CleanCons-There isn’t a washer or dryer in the unit. Figuring out how to use the common machines is difficult.-The cable doesn’t work on the TV, we were able to cast movies and shows from our phones -Poor communication with the property manager when we texted about the issues -parking is an issue and make sure if you are leaving on a weekend that you return your parking pass before otherwise getting your 100’s is a problemAlso, be aware that there is no shampoo, conditioner, or body soup. Bring your own! This condo is on the west side and there are a lot of homeless people along the beaches. This is very sad and most of them are displaced natives and many with families. Finally, it takes at least 30 minutes to get just about anywhere and traffic is a problem. There is an amazing beach if you stay on the main road all the way to the end along with an amazing hike. We also loved swimming with the dolphins and snorkeling with turtles in this area. We liked being away from the Waikīkī crowds and the more quiet environment. Great vacation and hope this info helps!

We started for a four night trip in January. The condo was comfortable and well stocked (especially the kitchen). Ken was a great host and allowed us to check in early, which was super helpful. The waves were a little rough for swimming at this time of year, but the beaches were beautiful and the condo was a great "base camp" to explore the island. We didn't know before coming that we can't drive from Makaha directly to the northern shore so that is something we'll consider for future trips, if we're lucky enough to return. However, a little planning was all it took to have a great time.

The property was lovely. To be able to go to sleep and wake up in a quiet area was very cathartic for the body and mind. The room facilities were great enabling self catering with ease. The bed was very comfortable and extremely big! Hardly many people on site making it very peaceful. The on site security were very helpful on the whole however the listing should really provide a bit more information on costings. Whilst I understand it’s not under the hosts direct control it enables people to consider options / budgets.The views were magnificent and a great base to go exploring the local area whether by vehicle or by foot to the local beaches. A good spot to go running for those avid runners!

We loved everything about this place. We wanted to stay somewhere away from Waikīkī and the resort type hotels at Ko Olina and this place was great! We loved waking up to our ocean & mountain view each morning. So many fun things to see as we left the property each day…peacocks, chickens, roosters, and huge cacti that grow just across from the property. Parking was quick and easy. The apartment was clean and what we expected from the pictures and description. The murphy bed in the extra room was perfect for our 10 year old. It was much more comfortable than a pull-out couch. We were so happy with our stay and would definitely rent again.

The beach is only 3 minutes away from the condo. I highly recommend if you are stay at this condo to rent a car because everything is like 15 to 30 minutes away and when you rent a car make sure that registration and inspection for the car is good because if not you won’t be able to get in at the condo. I rented a car from Budget and it was expired the inspection and i couldn’t get in so i went back to budget and they switched cars for me. I love that this condo has 24 security guards it was super safe. And the view is amazing you can see peacocks everywhere. You have to pay for parking and make a deposit that I didn’t mind also it has to be cash for the parking. We stayed July 04 - July 13, 2024. My daughters and I love it

Really nice place. We found it difficult to get an apartment with two bedrooms at a reasonable price, so this was a winner for us. Spacious and spotlessly clean. Looked like it was newly decorated and tastefully done. Large, well equipped kitchen with easy to operate appliances. Great shower and big, fluffy towels. We had everything we could have wanted. We loved our stay at Ken's property in Makaha. The unit was lovely, updated and clean. It had everything we needed for our stay. All the kitchen appliances and utensils were great. We loved all the beach gear (chairs, umbrellas, towels, boogie boards, etc). The view from the lanai was gorgeous. We loved seeing all the peacocks roaming the property. The condo was lovely and very clean. There were multiple signs of do, don’t do everywhere. I was apprehensive. We did dirty the bed linen. The owner lied about effusive puking everywhere and having to hire special cleaners to desanitize. Lies! So beware. Take pictures. I am so disappointed. On top of regular cleaning. I was charged $200. More. Really for Walmart bedding we dirtied. I am very angry with myself for not taking pictures. I’ve been with VRBO since 2010 and have stayed at the Towers 5 times and never have I ever been charged for something so disrespectful. Just left my rental in Kehei and received future welcome from my rental in Maui. Heading back to Honolulu for my final days home in a VRBO rental in Waikiki.

Situated in the Makaha Valley, this is a quiet retreat away from the noise of downtown. Peacocks and peahens strut around the property and will pose for pictures. The calling of birds will wake you in the morning. A great retreat that is still within reach of downtown activities. Makaha beach is just a mile away and is a great place to relax with the provided beach chairs and towels.

Our stay was wonderful! The property was beautiful. The room was comfortable, had a fantastic view, and met all of our needs. Ken was awesome at communicating and helping with anything we needed. I had visited Hawaii before to visit my sister and stayed near Waikiki. It was nice for a short visit, but in my opinion the REAL Hawaii is in the mountains, the nature around you, the people , and the spirit of the valley. If you want a vacation in a hotel with a touristy feel- stay at a resort. If you want to come to Hawaii to truly learn about the people, culture, and appreciate the soul healing beauty she has to offer- stay near the mountains. It is an easy hour drive to anywhere on the island. The peacocks on the property were beautiful and really added to the tropical allure of the area. Thank you for the amazing opportunity to stay on your property and to appreciate Oahu in all her glory.

Ken’s place has it all, lots and lots of amenities, clean, comfortable and fabulous views of the Makaha mountains and the ocean. We love the area, people are friendly, security personnel are fantastic, the local golf course is great. If you’re looking for a place away from the craziness of Waikiki, this is absolutely a perfect place! Yes, it’s a drive, you will need a car but we cannot see how you’d ever regret staying here! Ken was always available, we had no issues and Ken is a terrific property manager! Everything was perfect! Mahalo

This apartment was perfect for all what we needed. The apartment is newly renovated and provides everything you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is a dream and all appliances and tools are there to make you own breakfast, lunch and dinner which certainly assists if you would like to keep your holiday spendings down. The BBQs at the pool are great and we made use of them. The apartment complex is a bit weird in its location. 580 apartments in the middle of almost nowhere feels initially a little bit odd. The apartments are typically occupied by older people and there are quite strict rules around the usage of the space. A security team is ensuring that the rules are being followed. But saying this, this also ensures that your stay is not disturbed by noise or other unsocial behaviour.
The location is good. You can go and stay at the nearby beaches. We made a whale-dolphin-turtle tour, leaving from Waikanae port. We also drove up the coast to Yokohama bay but also back towards the airport for an all around the island roadtrip. So for us, the apartment was exactly what we needed and we would always love to come back.

We did not use the Pool, BBQ & laundry facilities, but appreciated that these were all available. Ken was a great host & quickly addressed the 1 small issue we had with the tv. This was the perfect little apartment for our family of four. We wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu but close to beaches and this fit the bill. The unit is small for four but manageable with the murphy bed (loved this space saver!) and a futon mattress for the living room floor. We're already used to sharing one bathroom at home. The A/C worked great throughout the unit which was appreciated as it was hot when we visited. The kitchen was PERFECT for us: we are cooks who travel with knives and spices lol and picked up groceries in Kapolei. This unit had everything we needed: full fridge, stove, microwave, crockpot, and even a very nice KitchenAid dishwasher. The furnishings were quality: the beautiful tiled kitchen backsplash, quality appliances, Tempur-Pedic mattress on the King bed. We were very pleased to have beach chairs and umbrellas to use as well! So helpful! Laundry room is not in the unit but available elsewhere in the complex....we had to use the laundry once and it was tricky finding a working card charging station (the one on our floor was broken). Ken was a kind and responsive host with very clear instructions! I guess only thing I would mention is that this is an apartment complex, not a resort, and security is quite strict especially around the pool. We had an issue with a security guard literally yelling at my 10YO daughter, who was being closely supervised by my husband, for jumping (not diving) into the pool ONCE. He was very rude to my apologetic husband and "wrote a report" about her jumping into the pool! Later, a different security guard asked another family to "go get their mother" because a 18YO sister had brought younger siblings. Just mentioning this for families wishing to use the pool. Otherwise, we were very happy here with the unit and would definitely stay again!

The view is amazing!!!! I saw some scenic pictures in the ad but I assumed they were of that side of the island, nope, they are from the balcony of the unit.
The landscaping is lush, the workers who tend to the property were kind and welcoming, and there are beautiful peacock galore.
I strongly recommend this listing as you will not be disappointed.

For our second trip to Oahu, we wanted to stay outside of the city and rely on a rental car to do our exploring of the island. Ken’s property seemed like a no-brainer - great reviews, a safe and secure property, and close to the beach. It was a bonus that the condo was nicely renovated and had a spacious kitchen for cooking meals. It certainly did not disappoint!
We originally planned on staying at this property back in 2020, but had to cancel our trip due to the global pandemic. Ken was very understanding, and helped us book our stay once we were able to travel.
As mentioned in other reviews, this is outside of the city. You will need a rental car to see all the island has to offer. We didn’t encounter any major traffic delays, but we left the rental early and came back outside of rush hour. It’s really not that far from the north shore, and the Ko’olina/Kapolei area, which are both lovely. The Waianae area is a bit rough around the edges, but we felt very safe in Makaha Valley and the beach down the road (don’t miss out on the Makaha beach - we saw sea turtles). The peacocks, while perhaps a bit noisy, are a sight to see. If you’re bothered by noise, simply bring earplugs!
The staff were all very pleasant, and the property is immaculately maintained. We loved that we had pool access after a long day of sight-seeing, and we could cook meals in the communal barbecue area.
In general, our stay was wonderful, and we are very grateful to Ken for all he did for us when our trip was up in the air. This is a real gem, and we would recommend staying here if you’ve got a rental car. Mahalo!

We had everything we needed and the property was delightful; from the peacocks that roam the grounds to the spectacular view from the private lanai. Great rental! The place was very clean, beautifully decorated & everything we needed was at our fingertips. The grounds were well kept & the staff was friendly, accommodating & helpful. The only drawback was it was a little far from the activities we had planned. The average drive was 1 hour, but it was too bad; just plan ahead for traffic. Other than that, the view was beautiful! We can see the mountains and the ocean from our balcony. I highly recommend renting this property.

The apartment is lovely; once inside, you don’t feel as if you’re in a high rise. The view is spectacular. There are a few rules to follow with respect to parking, but they aren’t onerous. The peacocks are noisy, yes; we quickly grew used to them and they certainly add local color! We’re so glad we stayed in a part of the the island wherever it seems relatively few outsiders venture.

To echo what others have said, the road out of Waianae can be very congested so build in extra time if you are leaving town.

Ken had a beautiful condo. It was spacious, clean and well appointed. The view from the balcony was simply amazing. We loved to watch the peacocks roaming around while we drank our morning coffee.
The pool area was immaculate. We enjoyed an evening swim by ourselves. The condo staff were friendly and accommodating.
The location was about a 45 minute drive to Honolulu but well worth the drive to be in the country. I highly recommend this condo if you want to avoid crowds and noise of a city.

First, have to give big props to the owner, Ken, who was very informative and helpful along the way, especially when certain needs arose. Thanks so much, Ken!
The unit itself was clean and modern looking. The complex is somewhat older (built in the 70s) so the unit had a slight musty smell when walking in but quickly dissipated. The remodeling job was done very nicely.
We (family of 4) purposely chose a location farther from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu but, as others have mentioned, when you're driving out, the town does seem a little rough. The immediate area around the condo is well-kept and secure though. There are peacocks freely roaming about which was a cool thing, some with babies. They did get kinda loud at times but didn't bother us.
As a bonus, the office staff at the complex were really friendly including the security personnel at the check-in post.
FYI: The bathroom is located in the "room" where the murphy bed is located so you have to walk through there to get to the bathroom. Something to keep in mind if you're staying as a family.

Ken was very detailed and punctual with all communications, made the whole visit very easy. The views from the condo were out of this world. Everything was updated and overall a great experience. The only potential downside was the distance to other parts of the island, but we were on our honeymoon and really enjoyed the peacefulness of the area. Would 10/10 stay again.

Ken’s property is nothing short of amazing! It’s clean, quaint and has impeccable views. I stayed here with my mom during Memorial Day weekend. Be prepared to drive to north shore, downtown etc. It wasn’t awful but allow yourself the extra time. The peacocks roam the property and the babies are super cute! Ken was super responsive and his place is functional and cute. I will absolutely stay here again on my next visit. Thank you for everything Ken!

My wife and I had a wonderful time at this property on our recent trip to Oahu. One thing to keep in mind while staying here is that there are peacocks. Lots of them. If you are staying during mating season, like we were, they make a ton of noise. There call is loud and frequent. It sounds like screaming children saying "No!" This occurs at all times of day, including night. We had a difficult time sleeping because of this. Bring earplugs.

This property is beautiful everything you need and want! Ken is wonderful he was so helpful making the check in and check out process an ease! 5 min drive paradise is at your feet! We wanted to fit in with locals try all the local yummy spots this was perfect for such. We did not want the busy downtown this was exactly what we asked for! We will definitely stay here again. Don’t be afraid of Waianae just drive through haha. Already have friends asking for the information to book! Thanks Ken we will be back!!

Owner Ken is the reason VRBO is successful. The pictures are exactly as advertised. Everything worked and everything was clean-as-new spotless. The view from the balcony is 5-star spectacular. The owner was accommodating and accessible and made checking in easier than any hotel. If/when I come back I’d book this in a second. Rent a car (a convertible!), drop the top and head up the coast! It’s away from the unnecessary hustle and bustle and congestion of Waikiki and a pleasant drive to any thing on the island you’d want to see. You will NOT regret it. Aloha!

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, tastefully
renovated condo. It is very comfortable. We have stayed in this complex before. It is well kept, beautifully landscaped and safe. Everyone is very friendly. The BBQs are good and easily accessible. We are not “pool” people, so cannot comment on that, but the local beach is just down the road and very nice. There are some homeless people around the Makaha area, as there are in many other places but we have never found them a problem. We like to explore the island and visit other beaches. Kailua is a favourite, as well as the lagoons at Ko’Olina. We also play tennis at the local courts and have always been made very welcome and have made good friends there.
Whilst staying at this condo, we had a problem with the TV reception. We contacted Ken and he immediately responded and helped us get in touch with Spectrum and it was fixed the next day. Ken genuinely wants his guests to enjoy their time in his condo and quickly responds to requests put to him. We also appreciated the phone in the unit with long distance to the US and Canada. The only issue we had, was that as we enjoy having friends visit us for drinks and appetizers or potluck dinners, although there were enough dinner plates, there were only 4 of everything else. I would suggest a full 8 Place settings (as well as some matching place mats.) It would also make for less use of the dishwasher!

Thank you so much for opening your home to us. With today’s traffic, it was a little too far out than we wld of liked. All the homeless is disturbing. And so very sad and unfortunate. I’m amazed at how much the island has changed but, it has been 25 yrs since I left. Waikiki is definitely not a place to stay these days. Crazy! Too commercialized. We weren’t able to circle the entire island like we hoped because of traffic. That was a little disappointing. Overall, we are absolutely happy with our stay and your place. We will definitely recommend it. And wld most likely stay here again, just not the busiest time of the year. Lol! When wld you recommend a non busy time to visit?
