We owned a timeshare on Hawaii for over 20 years and we purchased this condo in Waikoloa based on years of experience in 2010. Close to the finest beaches in Hawaii. Minutes from the best scuba diving in all the Hawaiian Islands. I am a diver and have spent time diving all the other islands. Kona has the best diving compared to the other islands.
We love Waikoloa Village because of the small town atmosphere and trade winds. All the tourists bake in the heat down on the beaches, which you can do if that is what you are after on your visit to Hawaii. Rule of thumb on Hawaii is the longer you live on the island the farther up the mountain you live to get the perfect temperature. This unit is not air conditioned. I would have to double my rate to provide air conditioning, Hawaii has the highest electric rates in the country.
Hawaii has everything any of the other islands have only better and larger.
Farmers markets. (Large tropical bouquets for $10.) Fresh fruits and vegetables in abundance in Kona and Hilo markets.
No other island has the active Volcano, which is a must do adventure.

Our condo is fully furnished. Save the cost of eating out so you can do some of the fun outings on the island. The unit has things you never think of to make your vacation the best ever. Cooler, beach chairs, boogie boards, and swim noodles are things you will pay extra for at a hotel.
We will also provide you with detailed local knowledge so your stay will be memorable. What beaches are worth the drive, where to see turtles every time, should you go to the green sand beach, where to buy gas are just some of the items that will save you time and money.

Has everything you need, well equipped, kitchen beach gear, golf clubs etc, complex is well kept and clean but had more of a local residential feel than a vacation home, lots of children playing on an around stairs to the unit in the evening. I thought having no ac would be ok but unit was a bit hot even with multiple fans going. Owner was very responsive and easy to communicate with. Overall it was a good experience and value for the money

The owner was fantastic in reaching out and giving travel suggestions. Unfortunately, the tennis courts were closed due to construction. The pool was nicely maintained. The hot tub was having mechanical problems. The location is quite a drive from the beaches, but most things are a drive on the big island. Fantastic snorkeling. The best in Hawaii.

We loved the location as it was centrally located for exploring the entire island. Lots of helpful items available which is a huge plus when traveling. Mostly clean except for floor so I still give it a 4 star for that compared to others we have rented!

The property is as described. It has no AC and it was not so clean when we arrived. We could feel sand and dust on the floor. Except for the mentioned above, everything was fine and we had a great stay.

The apartment itself was very good. At times the neighbours were a bit noisy late at night. It was a bit further than we would have liked for the Ironman but would be great for beach stays as not far from Waikoloa beach, shopping and restaurants. Mahalo

The Location is prime if visiting both Hilo and Kona did of the island, as you know the Island requires a lot of driving and this location made everything easier, grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations all nearby, golf course is awesome and the property owner is nice enough to leave equipment accessible for everyone. Had i hiccup with the check in process but make sure to check all your emails from the owner to ensure a swift check in!

Everything was nice and clean. There was snorkeling gear, boogie boards, pool noodles and golf clubs provided at the condo which made things a lot more convenient and saved us some money. The condo was perfect for our family stay. It was attractive, comfortable and centrally located for sightseeing all over the beautiful island. We loved having access to beach towels & chairs, boogie boards, snorkels, fins and the cooler. We appreciated the book giving the best beaches and other island information. This was a great spot for our family during our time on the big island. The apartment is a bit out of the way but there is plenty that’s pretty close and the neighborhood felt very safe. Everything was clean and comfortable and homey. It has two bathrooms which I don’t think I realized when I booked it but was awesome. The apartment is well stocked and nicely decorated. It was a great place! We loved our stay!

The village is just over a 5 mile drive from the beach resort area and has plentiful golf courses around it. The breeze comes through and keeps the area pleasantly cool even when the temperature is above 80. The unit has full amenities except AC/heating, so the breeze is a blessing on those warm days. The kitchen had all the appliances to make tasty meals at home, including my favorite, the drip coffee machine. The condo is spacious and feels like home right away. We were very comfortable and appreciated the beach equipment the hosts provided in the lanai closet. We recommend this rental!

Spacious, comfortable layout. Quiet neighborhood away from busy resorts but only 10-15 minutes from the beach and shops. Host was helpful, great at communicating, and provided a lot of good info about the island and things to do. Maybe the best part was that pretty much anything we needed for the beach was provided- snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach chairs, coolers, etc… it made our trip much more affordable and fun than having to rent, buy, or do without those extras. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone!

Upon checking in I thought that John hadn't sent me the access code. I searched through my emails and just couldn't find it. I called John and he sent me it immediately (Thanks John). It wasn't until I dug a little deeper that I realized I deleted my own copy of the access code which he sent me a week ahead of time! OOF! Thanks for dealing with my jet-lagged self John. Our stay was great, a perfect little condo for my family with 3 kids. We had access to towels, coolers, and boogie boards which was great for our beach days. It was definitely a trip from Hilo and Kona but we didn't mind the drive.

This condo was so comfortable and so well-equipped! There was nothing that we needed (other than food and personal items). The kitchen was well stocked and both bedrooms were comfortable. John left many suggestions of places to visit and we loved the snorkel equipment! We couldn't get into the condo the first day because of a wildfire that caused an evacuation of the area- John worked to help us resolve the situation and was accommodating through it all. Can't recommend this place enough!!

This was a great place to stay for our family’s trip to Hawaii. We had three kids ages 12-16 and they were all able to stay in the second bedroom without a problem. The condo had everything we needed for our beach days and John was very communicative. The location is great for activities on the western side of the island. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Once again we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the condo. We keep coming back which should be a good recommendation. The location for us is good, short drive to Hilo (60+ miles) or 6 miles to the beach. The weather is 5 to 10 degrees cooler than at sea level and with the Waikoloa breeze the condo is always quite comfortable without air-conditioning. The owner is very accommodating and quick to respond. We are booking now for 2020.

My family and I spent close to 2 weeks at John's location. Right from the day of booking John was terrific. He provided excellent insight to various activities around the island. The location was perfect with close proximity to the best beaches as well as the Saddle Rd connecting to the other side of the island. The condo had everything we needed as well including everything to enjoy the best of the beaches. We would highly recommend staying here.

We love staying at John and Carol’s condo. It is very comfortable, has a well-stocked kitchen for making meals there, and having 2 bathrooms makes getting ready for the day easy as well. The bed is comfy too. They also provide all kinds of snorkel and beach gear - everything you need including coolers! There is a host book full of useful info and ideas for things to see and do. If you need anything they are very responsive so just contact them and it is taken care of quickly. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts and sharing your piece of paradise with us!

Condo was very clean & roomy. Having the 2 bathrooms was great no need to wait to get a shower. Bed was very comfortable. Also having a washer & dryer in the condo was like being at home. Nice pool & Exercise room. There is a grocery store about 1/2 mile away which is very convienent I would definitely recommend this place & would stay there again. Just a note it is about 30 miles from Kaiula Kona up on the mountain.

A great location for all sites on the dry side of the island and for launching trips to the rainy side. Actually did not have much rain on either side. Both of us are retired teachers and enjoyed all the sites we managed to visit. A week was just not enough. The condo was great for independent minded people like us, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Kitchen was adequate as we ate out a lot and furniture in living room was comfortable for reading or tv. The washer and dryer were appreciated. We received good advice from the owner about car rental, etc. You will need a car. The market in the village has everything you need. The pool and the hot tub for the condo complex are available from 8 am to 8 pm and never crowded. We often had them to ourselves. The condo is well stocked with towels, including beach towels. We would make a few recommenations: the master bath could be cleaner and there needs to be an extra roll of toilet tissue in each bathroom. The beds in the front bedroom would be ok for kids but are kind of lumpy for adults. All things considered, it was a great place to stay for a vacation and I would use it again.

Great location, and very reasonable. Since i was born and raised on the Island, i know it is close to all nice Beaches and attractions. My wife, 8yr. old Grandson, and i loved this Condo. It had all the things that we needed, well stocked with all the amenities. It was very clean, with nice furniture, and comfortable Beds. No bugs or ants, which is very unusual for that area, except for Geckos that we left outside on the deck. The owner was great and answered all of my Questions. He kept in contact with me from the time i booked this place. I would recommend this place to any family or friends. We had a great time at the beach, and the pool was not crowded, most of the time it was only us. Also it is very quiet with friendly neighbors.

This is the 3rd year we have used this condo. We really like its central location to all parts of the Island (except the southern tip). This is an economimcal unit that allows you access to all the best parts of the Big Island. You are a 1.25 hour drive from Hilo on the new Saddle Road highway over the volcano. You are one hour from Hawi town on the North Coast. You are minutes away from the best beaches on the Island (Hapuna is our favorite). You are about 40 minutes from Kona. We like to use the kitchen to prepare our breakfast and lunches. We will dinner out a few times but will also use the BBQ by the pool (good cooling swim before bed) to cook Ono and Ahi steaks from Costco! The market at Waikoloa Village has great Hawaiian Poke which we loved (for those who like sushi/raw fish). Because of the central location, we were able to easily take in the best the Island has to offer on both sides.

Just spent 2 weeks in this wonderful suite. The appointments are exactly as pictured. Everything works! The master bed was comfortable (did not use the other bedroom, but looked just fine). All the extras made the stay even better. The shopping Village supermarket is just up the road and has all you need -- at good prices. The post office is across the intersection from the Village. The location is very central to enjoying the whole island: North Coast- Hawi, Hilo, Volcanoes Natl Park, coffee plantations, Kileau-Kona and the great beaches just 6mi (10 min.) down the hill on the coast. We definitely would return. Thanks to the hosts! They have done it right!

I loved the location! Being 10 minutes up the hill made nights cooler and the constant breeze made sleeping very comfortable. The condo was as described and we could not have been more pleased. Having snorkeling gear, a cooler, beach chairs, towels, etc. that is provided by the owners made going to the beach stress free and was much appreciated. The community facilities (pool, hot tub, BBQ grills) were impeccably clean and it made it nice to able to grill dinner at the pool at night. The Village Market (about a 5 minute walk from the property) has fresh pastries every morning which cannot be missed! The fresh seafood Poke selection is another highlight of the Market. Banjy's Place located at the golf course (a 2 minute walk) has a good draft beer selection and the Happy Hour was a great deal to cap off a long day. Thank you John and Carol!!!!

Our family with a toddler and an infant had a great stay in this condo in Waikoloa Village. The property was clean, had a well stocked kitchen, and the beds were very comfortable. The owners were very accommodating, helpful in suggesting activities and more than willing to answer any questions we had. I would recommend this condo for it's value if you have a car. There is not much to do right in Waikoloa Village but there are many fantastic beaches and destinations within 30 minutes.

We stayed for a week at this Waikoloa condo. It was very well provisioned, the unit was clean and comfortable, the kitchen well supplied, the beds were very comfortable and the decor was quite pleasing. The unit is a close drive to terrific beaches, easy access to all other activities and attractions, as well as being within walking distance to the local grocery, tennis courts, swimming, and golf as well as a nice little restaurant/bar right in Waikoloa. The owners were very willing to share "inside" info on getting the most out of your visit, from best places to visit (off the beaten track), where to find best gas prices, best souvenir prices, etc. And the supply closet has snorkel gear and boogie boards, coolers and sand chairs. The pool and hot tub are available and not crowded. Enjoy the goats, turkeys, nenes, and geckos of Waikoloa--we did!

We thoroughly enjoyed this rental. It was a very convenient launching point to most areas of the Big Island. We were close to the resort area and beautiful beaches. We were about 30 minutes from Kona and 75 minutes from Hilo. We enjoyed making our own lunches and heading to one of several beaches for a day on the beach and snorkeling. We visited historic areas and hiked in National Volcano Park. If you want to enjoy the simple pleasures of Hawaii, this is your launching pad! We look forward to returning next year. We have become real fans of VRBO properties. We are not the resort style travelers. We do not want to sit around a pool and sip umbrella drinks. We do not want to have to get ready to go to a restaurant for all our meals. We would enjoy a leisurely morning drinking Kona Coffee and eating fruit from local farmer's markets before we began our daily adventures. We wanted to explore the historic sites and hike the many water fall trails. Your first stop after landing at the airport is COSTCO. Stock up on basic food supplies and water for your stay. This unit provided us the simple comforts of home and allowed us to meet our expectations for our Hawaii experience. The owner provided excellent recommendations on beaches to visit and location of the farmer's markets. The market in nearby Waikoloa Village filled our needs. The rental car shuttle driver recommended the "sesame marlin poke" from this market which we tried and enjoyed. (Poke is a raw fish appetizer). The trade winds in the afternoon provided comfortable living without air conditioning. We would definitely stay in this unit again. Mahalo!
