Stayed for week for part of my honeymoon. Loaded up on food and drinks at Costco and relaxed most of the days. Drove to Kona for night time scuba and to the Volcano National Park for hiking. But other than that we stayed put. Falling asleep and waking up to the waves was fantastic

Beautiful home with plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen was very well stocked and had everything we needed. Immediate response from host when we had questions. Loved having all the beach chairs etc. when we headed to the beach. For those with allergies, know that the house is completely open with no air conditioning so bring your allergy medicine.

As others have mentioned -- It is a beautiful place! We agree with all the positive comments and would hope to stay again. One of our favorite days on the trip was spent at the house and not leaving for sightseeing until that evening. A few things to consider (just for more information) -- to help with air circulation, three of the bedrooms don't have ceilings and are open air above the standard wall heights. The window coverings are lightweight, so it is difficult to sleep late. Also, it was nice at the end of our stay that Melanie communicated that our leftover food could be left in the refrigerator to possibly feed their chickens! Great interaction, except for a small issue (a month before our trip) when we had to shorten our reservation by a couple of days and hosts were unwilling to accommodate our new schedule. We stayed our first night in Kona -- which ended up being a positive experience too. I would definitely recommend this amazing oceanfront home.

In celebration of Mom's 66th birthday, Our group of 7, ages 22-66, were blessed w 6 incredible days at The Cove.
The home is a true gem w Incredible unobstructed views of the Pacific. Each morning, after soaking in the seaside hottub, we shared breakfast and coffee on the upstairs patio overlooking the ocean.
Our days were filled w MAGIC and The Cove served as the perfect homebase... Its approximately 60 minutes from downtown Kona. While some my find that travel time inconvenient, i DID NOT. The drive from Kona, and especially down Milolii Rd. (😆) is exhilarating in itself. Every day was an adventure... and The Cove's location added to it.
The hosts were incredibly prompt replying to any questions we may have had.

Loved loved loved the location of this place. Right on the cliff tops with a great breeze and the waves crashing almost at our door. It was a nice change to get away from busy touristy areas. It forced us to just stay and ‘be’ with all the creature comforts we needed. Highly recommend

The home was perfect for my family of eight. Kitchen was stocked with all the cooking utensils needed to prepare meals. The pool and hot tub were a bonus. This property superseded our expectations, it was like living in a postcard. My family thoroughly enjoyed everything about this house, the pool was a family favorite. The remote location of this house made our vacation all the more enjoyable. Be sure to get your groceries before driving to the house. The house is well stocked with everything you’ll need, especially in the kitchen. The owners are very responsive and ready to help at a moments notice. We hope to return next summer and are counting down the days.

The place was spotless and the hosts couldn’t have been any better!! We were a party of 9 with space to spare. The kitchen is stocked and the laundry on site was a bonus. It is a great place to jump off to Hilo side or Kona. The salt water pool a true place to soak up the sun and hot tub made for romantic sunsets. Lots of books, games and ambience. We were impressed with The Cove at Milllii from our first conversation with the owners who went out of their way to provide us with information about the house and all the activities in the area. The home was so well equipped with kitchen fully stocked with spices, dishes and appliances. The bedrooms were very comfortable and all of our family loved the house. This house is amazing, open floor plan lots of room for big families. If you are looking for peace and tranquility, hearing the ocean, enjoying views and the sunsets this is the house for you. Calm beach is 5min drive up the road. The house is 1hr away from Kona. We meal planned ahead stopped at Costco, Walmart, Safeway before heading to house. The kitchen is very well stocked with a-little of coffee, sugar, oil, spices, flour. The bathrooms have Pantene shampoo, conditioner and body wash, hair dryer. Its 2hrs from Hilo. We planned ahead and stopped at Panaluu bake shop(delicious), black sandy beach(saw turtles) Hilo market place (souvenirs). Consider the travel speeds in the area are usually about 35-45 max with windy roads. The house is 10min from the main road on a windy road. The owner was immediately available for questions and concerns. Will definitely be back.

This is the place if you want to get away from the crowds and get that island paradise feel. You might have to drive an hour to get to kona but if you want to experience sun and ocean in your own private escape this is perfect. Rent a car, bring some groceries, and sit back and chill.

The views are breathtaking! We came home after a fun day of exploring the island to the most beautiful sunsets! Later we enjoyed a sky full of stars while sitting in the hot tub!! The property is lovely! Overlooking the ocean with an infinity pool and hot tub for maximum relaxation! The living areas have a lot of comfortable seating, great for large groups, and the recreation areas come with all sorts of games, pool/ocean toys and reading. The bedrooms are all well-appointed and kitchen cupboards already well stocked with basic ingredients - herbs, oil, sugar, vinegar, etc. Be prepared for a winding road down to Milolii - it is worth it!

We spent six nights at the Cove. We had an awesome experience! The inside of the home is beautifully decorated and clean. The kitchen was well stocked for making meals. We very much enjoyed eating out on the lanai each night. We arrived on a calm ocean day, as our stay went on we experienced a pretty intense wind storm with rain and saw the ocean with very high surf. It was exhilarating watching the waves as they slammed into the cliffs.
The outside area's were gorgeous. The pool and hot tub were so nice to have all to ourselves. We watched every sunset from the hot tub. It was really fun to have a ping pong table! We were able to see many fish down in the cove (when calm); a few whale sightings (once in the middle of a ping pong game!) and dolphins.
As others have mentioned this is a home off the beaten track so stock up on food before going so you don't have to leave!
We would absolutely stay again!

We spent the week before Christmas at the Cove with two other couples and really enjoyed our stay! There was plenty of space for all of us to either spend time together or time apart. The kitchen was well stocked and had every cooking utensil that one could need. The outdoor space was fantastic - from the pool and hot tub as well as the large outdoor living area under the main part of the house. Sunsets were amazing - you could view them from the pool/hot tub or from the deck off the house. Craig and Melanie were very responsive to questions throughout our stay. We experienced a pretty intense storm the second night - strong enough winds to blow some of the screens off the windows. Craig came over the next day to check on us and the house - he brought some citrus fruit from his trees! The oranges were so good and we used the lemons for lemon chicken. This house is right on the cove and with that comes with about a 10 minute drive down a switchback road from the highway. Take Melanie's advice to do a little meal planning and shop for food in Kona before heading to the house (Costco and Safeway worked for us) -- you will be glad that you did... This is a great place if you prefer to be away from the tourist crowd in Kona and love being right on the ocean. Cheers!

We stayed at the Cove at Milol'ii for a week in November 2022. The ocean breeze and sunsets were spectacular. We really liked that the home is powered by solar electricity. The neighborhood is quiet and everyone we met was friendly and it had a very inviting feel to it. Several small produce stands were setup but we weren't able to get any $1 avocados at the stand on the top of the hill. Though Melanie was so kind to drop some of their fresh fruit from their land.
Melanie was very helpful giving suggestions of places to go. They have many books to read and games for the kids and adults.
We scouted for Whales everyday with one of the 5 sets of binoculars provided at the house but, unfortunately, we didn't see any. We did see some pods of spinner dolphin cruise by a few hundred yards off the shore though.
The cove by the house has a blow-hole that will spout mist if the tide and waves are high enough. The pool and jacuzzi are very relaxing. The host did not require much in the way of cleanup, which we are normally accustomed to. Rather, she wanted us to leave our food provisions in order to make compost and chicken feed. It was just a reminder of how the people of Hawaii think and feel. They really want to protect their special place in the world.
While there we went to an Octopus research farm for. Learned many things and they allowed you to put hand in tank to play with them. Day on sail boat with snorkeling and a day of sport fishing. Waterfalls in Hilo and active Volcano Kīlauea. Much to see while visiting Hawaii.
Local Tip: There is a small area at the end of the north end of the road the house is on that you can access the water for snorkeling. It also has a hand rail for easier access to the water. We brought our own fishing poles though locals say you can rent some. Caught a 10lb Trevally (fun to catch).

We had a very relaxing stay at Melanie and Craig's home on the cove! The house is stocked with everything guests could want or need. We appreciated this very much -- plenty of bath towels and pool towels, a basket full of sunscreen and bug spray, a fully-stocked kitchen, etc. ... It just seemed like there was extra of everything, and this is not always the case at rental properties. The house has a great layout with many ways to take in the incredible view of the cove and ocean. We enjoyed the upper deck, the patio/pool/hot tub, and especially loved the cove itself. Sitting at the cove, reading and watching the waves crash was our favorite part. The ocean view at this property is hard to beat! Melanie was a very welcoming host as well!

A beautiful custom home built with Ohia wood pillars and graced with very nice landscaping. They even have grass, a variety that the clever owner found that thrives on salt water! The pool is also saltwater refreshed by the ocean - no chlorine smell! Bedrooms were large and comfortable, two with private baths and the 3rd with a bath right beside. It is VERY well equipped in every area - lots of beach/pool towels, pool toys, games, a delicious hot tub, outdoor seating. Kitchen is complete - every pan, dish, storage, plasticware, cutlery, etc you might need. View is spectacular and you can snorkel right there if you are careful with the broken lava approach. Like everywhere, mosquitoes are a presence - come prepared. It is very south of Kona and yes, the road down is curvy but once you are there you won't want to leave. If you're looking for nightlife and restaurants this is not the place. If you are looking for peace and quiet and just want to luxuriate in comfortable surroundings The Cove cannot be beat. Really hope to return.

The Cove at Milolii was a great place to spend the first half of our trip to the Hawaiian Islands. Communication throughout the reservation process, check-in, and check-out was seamless. Melanie and Craig were always quick to answer any questions we had and even offered suggestions for things to do in the area and Craig gave us some history of the house and volcanoes on the island (very nice people). We were a group of 6 (3 adults, 2 teens, and 11 year old). The house offered plenty of space for all and the many seating options was a plus. Beds and bathrooms were nice and the kitchen was well stocked. The outdoor area by far was everybody's favorite. Each evening we would gather on the 2nd floor balcony for games and to watch the amazing sunset. After sunset or back from island exploring, we would finish the evenings in the pool or hot tub which was very refreshing. This was a great place with amazing views and lots of amenities. Would stay again and recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing place away from the crowds where you can enjoy the sound of the ocean and cool sea breeze.

The 80 minute drive from the airport was soooo worth it. Be ready for lots of twisty turning roads. I think you would be hard pressed to find another house that could beat the views from this house. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets and waking up to the ocean waves hitting the cove. The house is well stocked with pool toys and kitchen amenities (spices/coffee/equipment). They even had beach chairs and an umbrella for us to take to the beach. Our boys enjoyed the ping pong table. Nice weber grill for grilling - you may need to pick up some charcoal. Melanie was very responsive any time I had a question. Just know that you will need to drive about an hour plus to get to many of the key attractions. Despite the drive we would definitely stay here again!

Really beautiful, big and open home with amazing view, pool and out door area. The house is far out, approximately 45 from south Kona. We didn’t mind, but depending on what part of the island you want to be at, it can be quite a trek.
Again though, I would definitely stay here again, and the drive was worth it for us. You can hear the waves crashing from all rooms in the house and have dinners outside looking at the ocean.. it was quite spectacular.
We had a few days where we didn’t leave the house at all!
Only minor issue was unexpected drop in from the owner to do house repair and garbage pick up. We would have appreciated a heads up for this as it was in the middle of our stay.
I communicated this to the owner and they apologized. There were no further issues and the communication was otherwise great.

We thoroughly enjoyed the spacious and well located house. Craig and Melanie were courteous and responsive. Wonderful place for a family. Only minor draw back was having to drive to beaches. But the nice pool and spa helped overcome that. And we got out to explore the various beaches of the Kona coast. Finally, beware of snorkeling in the cove in front of the house. We encountered a hammerhead shark…!

I brought a friend to Hawaii for her 50th bday and rented this house out for us. It’s amazing. The view is breathtaking, we spent the entire vacation watching the ocean and listening to the waves crash up into the cove. The two main bedrooms both have gorgeous showers, we had everything we needed in the kitchen to cook some delicious meals. The drive down to the rental was slightly stressful, but we got used to it. This is by far my favorite rental, anywhere. I will be back for some more quality time on the lanai! Huge thanks to the hosts for being so helpful and sharing this wonderful home with us!

We stayed at this home with our 4 teens and we throughly enjoyed our time. Our kids loved the pool, ping pong table, and outdoor area. There is plenty of room to spread out.
Overall the house had everything that we needed. The kitchen was fully stocked with all cooking tools you would need along with some spices, we added some to the stash. We also appreciated the variety of platters that we could use for the yummy fresh fruit we cut up daily.
I would say for our family the pros/cons were the same which was location. The house is kind of off the beaten path so beaches/store are a bit of a trek. I would say 30-45 minutes each way. We enjoyed the location because we had to slow down and didn’t feel obligated to see things. The sunsets and lull of the waves was fantastic. I could see others who might want to do more sightseeing finding the location inconvenient. The black sand beach just beyond Milolli Beach Park was worth the short hike; closest beach near the home and we had it to ourselves.
Overall I would recommend this home. It’s great for a large family or group of folks traveling together.

This is a beautiful property with everything you need. We stayed here with three couples and two 17 year old boys and we had a great time. It is a good hour drive from Kona so be prepared for that if you want to be near the city. If that doesn't bother you than you can't beat this property. We bought groceries in Kona before heading out to the house. There is a smaller grocery store south on route 11 that we didn't find until later in our stay that would have saved us a lot of time from driving into Kona for smaller items we picked up later in the week. We swam and snorkeled in the cove right in front of the house and fished right off of the there too. The pool and ground floor patio area are amazing and a great place to hang out. Communication with the owners was excellent. They answered our questions quickly and asked if there was anything we needed. Definitely recommend this home and would stay here again.

This house is honestly amazing. The house itself is beautiful and very comfortable. The king size bed we slept on was the best bed I’ve ever had in a rental. I would have taken it home with me if I could! The owners are great communicators and responded to every message quickly. The home is stocked with everything you could think of needing.
The backyard/pool area is so nice. The house isn’t situated in a way that there was easy beach access so it was great to have the pool and hot tub right in the backyard. There is a lot of different seating options to relax and watch your kids swim if you aren’t interested in swimming yourself.
The best part of the home was the view. The back of the home is west facing and we literally had a front row seat to watch the sunset each night. The ocean views are gorgeous and can be heard from every open window in the house. I loved sitting on the back deck just listening to the ocean.
I suppose the one con is that thr house is located way out in the country and was abt an hour and 15 minute drive from Kona. Speed limit on the “highway” was mostly 35mph so that’s what contributes to the long drive time. For our purposes, being so far outside of town was great. It made for a really tranquil and relaxing stay. We did do some day trips to see some of the sights but could have easily spent our entire trip just “home” at the house and been perfectly content.

A wonderful,well appointed home. Plenty of room for six people or more. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could want to cook with. Lots of things for the younger ones to play with, ping pong, swim masks, fins and more. We all loved the peace and quite away from traffic. The place was beautiful. We had a pretty severe maintenace issue which didnt allow us to use indoor plumbing very much for our first 2 days we were there, and we had construction on the property for 4 out of the 7 days. Still kinda put a damper on those 4 days. The owners were very responsive and they did what they could to fix the issue as fast as they could. Place was well stocked with all kinds of things, basically you just have to buy refrigerated and frozen goods. They have almost everything else, including lots of games and puzzles, sun screen etc. Its a very nice place to stay, it's just to bad our isolated incident prevented us from enjoying the property to it's full potential

The Cove at Miloli is one of the nicest rentals we've stayed in. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking - all the tools you'll need. Very easy to pass the day next to the pool or on the deck.
The only con was the hot tub broke just before we go there. The owners were very attentive to get it fixed (usable but not 100%).

We had a wonderful time at this house. Daily Sunset's were breathtaking. The house had everything including snorkeling gear, boogie boards, life jackets, Ping Pong, BBQ etc. We spend lots of time, relaxing by the pool and enjoying the amazing views. We spent a week at The Cover during our spring break (last week in March). It is a crazy drive down to the house, but we’ll worth it! The view is truly awe inspiring and Melanie and Craig have done a beautiful job setting up there home for the perfect family vacation. If the ocean is calm enough, you can snorkel and explore right there in the cove. Craig also got out his fishing poles so we could do some night fishing, however we never had a clam night. We did enjoy the hot tub under the stars! The house was very comfortable for our large family (two college kids, two teens, two parents). We spent our last day up near the resorts on the Island and we all agreed, The Cove was better!!

We arrived after midnight on the first day so it took us until the morning to fully appreciate the paradise this property truly was. The pictures didn’t do justice, the house was amazing. The weather was fantastic, we spent most of our days relaxing at the pool. The cove offers great views of sea life in the tidal pools and snorkeling when the surf was low. Supper on the lanai every night was enjoyed by the amazing sunsets. Melanie and Craig are fantastic hosts and very accommodating. This trip to Hawaii was the best yet and would recommend staying at this property to anyone. We will be back!

I absolutely loved this home. The beautiful view of the ocean and the rocky shoreline were stunning. We would have loved to swim in the cove or snorkel more, but the winter weather was creating unfavorable conditions. The guys did a little fishing and even caught one fish:) The pool and the hot tub were always inviting. The outdoor space was spectacular. The winding road down to this ocean front home can be a little long...but, with an open mind...it is well worth it! I loved the location. We saw whales and dolphins multiple times. This oceanside retreat was one of a kind. Melanie and Craig were very responsive to our requests and inquiries. We thank them again for opening their home for guests like us!

The home was perfect for our group -- 2 families with 4 young children. The house is wonderfully appointed and had absolutely everything we needed to feel at home for a week. The pool and outdoor areas are beautiful and we spent lots of time just staring out at the beautiful ocean, watching sunsets, climbing around on the rocks, floating in the pool and just relaxing. The location is perfect to explore the entire island -- we went all the way up north of Kona to explore hidden beaches, and all the way to the Volcano National Park to check out the steam vents and the volcanic landscape. It was a dream trip and the house was a huge part of making the whole trip just perfect. Thank you, Melanie and Craig! We can't wait to return to your home in paradise!
