Emergency Procedures
We are glad to say that in our 16 years of ownership of this property, we have not experienced any damage from a Hurricane or Tsunami at this location. It is good practice, however, to have an emergency plan in place as this property is located in a Tsunami Evacuation Zone. Please see the map below which details the preferred routes and emergency locations for both Hurricane and Tsunami Warnings. In essence, Hurricane Shelter is provided at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center, one block West; and in case of Tsunami Warning, local residents drive up the close by Highway 552 towards Waimea Canyon / Koke`e Park. Most experts say that once you are at least 100 feet above sea level, you are out of Tsunami danger. This can be accomplished in approximately a five-minute drive from the house. Mahalo and please feel free to forward any questions.

We had such a wonderful visit! Jules and Patrick were such great hosts. The house could not have been more perfect for our family ( 7 adults, 2 kids and 2 babies. The bedrooms were all the perfect fit. We had safety stuff for the babies and plenty of beach stuff. The deck was a place we spent a lot of time on. Thank you for the great house. Audre

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The house was spacious with beautiful ocean views from the upstairs deck. The hosts were very kind and easy to communicate with. They answered our questions via text and offered many good suggestions for things to do nearby.

Great views of the Pacific. Quiet side of the island. Within driving distance of everything. Nice great room and good size bedrooms. Communication with owner was great. If there were any issues or questions they responded quickly. Overall a great place to stay and i would again if visiting Kauai.

You could not find a better place to stay while on Kauia. Jules is a wonderful host. Did not get a chance to meet Patrick but I'm sure he's wonderful also We had to bother her a couple of times for minor things and she was always there to help. The house was clean, and the accommodations were great. Our favorite part was spending time on the balcony and looking out at the amazing ocean view. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful home with us.

This location is amazing. We have 7 people in our party and the accomodations were fitting for everyone. The patio faces out towards the ocean and it is an amazing view. We did have to drive about 45 mins to our excursions, but it was well worth it. The property owners are amazing and stayed easily accessible during my entire trip. 10/10 would recommend this location if you plan on making a trip to Kauai.

The home and location were perfect for our big family. We loved spending time on the balcony and particularly appreciated that each room, except for one, has its own bathroom. We also wanted to be on the drier side of the island, with easy access to Waimea Canyon hikes and the beach in Poipu. This home was perfect for that. That said, we were pleasantly surprised with the beach down the street from the house. It’s quieter and much less crowded than the beaches up north, and beautiful! Overall, 10/10 stay. Finally, the hosts were the best. Jules and Patrick checked in throughout the trip and provided great recommendations — they are some of the most attentive and thoughtful hosts we have encountered.

This home is located right at the ocean with easy access to the beach. We had some unforeseen upon arrival but working closely with Patrick and Jules they were able to resolve things in a few days and really went the extra mile. On your way from the airport, stop at Costco for bulk items (eggs, bacon, liquor, chips, etc.) There is a Safeway near Costco so get things that perish quicker from here and in reasonable quantity. There is also a local market in Waimea if you need emergency items you missed. Waimea Canyon is a short drive from the house and absolutely do not miss Polihale Beach. The road is not paved and quite bumpy but you will not regret the adventure. It's a very short distance from the house. There is some road noise when sitting on the Lanai, but honestly, you won't even mind it because you're looking out at the ocean all day. Kekaha is much more quiet than many of the other locations on Kauai; and it's the dry side of the island so it doesn't get a ton of rain which is great if you enjoy the sunny weather. However, any short drive on the island you'll likely enjoy a pop up rain shower every now and then. Overall a great visit and we looking forward to visiting the island again. Thank you Patrick and Jules !!

Overall we enjoyed our trip to the Island and liked the location. The area where the house is located, is a nice spot with an excellent view of the sea. The house is in a very quiet area with a short drive to the "Tourist" spots. The house itself has a very nice entertaining area inside and out. We absolutely loved the deck area and outdoor area by the bbq pit. The bedrooms and bathrooms are nice and the kitchen is moderately stocked. Unfortunately for us though, the house air conditioning was out for our trip. It is not uncommon for houses in Hawaii to not have AC, but one of our criteria when we were looking for houses was to have it. We were travelling with young children and older grandparents and trying to get to sleep when the house is in the 80s Fahrenheit was a little rough. The hosts provided a discount after the trip and genuinely seemed to care about our situation. The circumstances were a bit against us, but if we are looking outside our moment in time, I think the house will suit most families.

This home is a little bit of a drive from the North shore, but our family enjoyed having the space this home supplied, and the view is beautiful! We loved sitting on the porch swing and enjoying the view of the ocean!! The master suite was so nice for our small children. Jules was great to work with, and took care of the few things we needed. We would highly recommend.

You can't beat the view on the lanai, saw multiple whales and dolphin pods. It's so peaceful to have breakfast on the porch swing or enjoy the hammock. Comfortable bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms, easily accommodated 8 adults and 3 infants. My 3 year old particularly enjoyed the fire truck and race car toddler beds. Kitchen is well stocked with dishes, nice grill outdoors, large dining room table worked well for playing family games. Tons of fridge and freezer space (there are two) and laundry to use. Patrick and Jules are very responsive via text and gave us recommendations for where to find local fruit stands and markets, we felt very at home here in their quiet neighborhood

What a fantastic home base to return to each day after exploring the island. Our party of 9 included 4 grandparents, 2 parents, and 3 teens. Our favorite part was sitting on the 2nd floor lanai, spotting whales on the horizon. The second floor has the common living areas, laundry, a small bedroom (with a double or queen bed) and a large master bedroom/bath/walk in closet room (with baby beds). Three more bedrooms on the ground floor, all with bathrooms and king beds. We also used one of the pull out sofa beds on the second floor and it was very comfy. The McClean family was helpful in every way, and blessed us several times with unexpected favors. We would stay there again in a second.

Jules and Patrick were perfect hosts. Their home is absolutely amazing. All amenities you could possibly need. The property is even nicer than it appears in photos. Our group of 8 adults were super comfortable. Every room has own bath/shower. Jules gave us many great recommendations and was super responsive when we had a question. MAHALO…for sharing your beautiful home!!!

For starters, Waimea is the place to stay on Kauai for families and this is the house to stay. the property is in great condition, Jules and Patrick are the best hosts and communicate frequently and that view is to die for. we would spend every morning and every evening as a family sitting, eating and drinking on the deck.

A most amazing house for our Son’s Kauai wedding. Every morning we gathered on the deck overlooking the ocean watching the waves hitting the rocks and drinking our coffee. We had nine people here but there are so many rooms with King size beds with own bathrooms it was wonderful. Our 10 year grandson got his own queen size bedroom/bathroom and was beyond happy not to have to share. The littles had car beds they made into forts and couldn’t have been happier. For our 60th bday party we used the grill for chicken and hamburgers and hosted 16 family members comfortably. Would not have been able to do this in a condo. Huge kitchen. So many bath/beach towels, beach toys, boogie boards.. everything was here. Last but not least.. A/c:) we went to other relatives condos that did not have A/c. Amazing home and grateful for opportunity to share it together.

Jules was so kind to welcome us and give us so many local tips, full of aloha!! We loved the location, close to Waimea Canyon, small towns, uncrowded beaches, incredible view from the lanai. The bedrooms were perfect for multiple generations, plenty of space, bathrooms, big kitchen, beautiful grounds, “happy hour” around the grill/bar, beach gear to borrow was much appreciated. Just perfect!

We stayed for two weeks Hale La. The property was in a great location. We were a family of ten and there was more than enough space for our family. The house was equipped with anything you could possibly imagined in the kitchen as well as beach towels, toys, water shoes, etc. The communication with the property owner, Patrick and his wife, Jules was excellent. They kept us informed on events in the area and were right there to help with any issue that arose which were very few. We are already planning our next visit back to Hale La. I'm sure anyone would be happy staying at Hale La.

My stay was a pandemic-delayed, multi generational, retirement celebration from me to my family. Starting w/ the booking process of Hale La, a few years ago, through my 4 week stay, I found the owners, Patrick and Jules, to be incredibly KIND, responsive and accommodating. The house itself, is TO DIE FOR! I will forever miss the ocean views from the balcony. The kitchen had every pot, pan, utensil, electric device, etc that we could possibly want/need. We were blown away by the stash of every conceivable beach-related equipment, including pool shoes (which you’ll need for most of the beaches). The beds were comfy. If young children are in your group, the house has you covered - crib, pack-n-play, high chair, booster seat, etc. TV has lots of channels, though we spent most of our time on the ocean-facing deck. Strong wifi. A grocery store is just a few miles away in Waimea, though Costco got most of our grocery and gas money. The neighborhood is quiet, except for some intermittent road noise and chickens. (It IS Kauai, after all). It was an idyllic stay in Hale La on an idyllic island. Mahalo to Patrick and Jules.

This house was amazing, perfect for my family (8 total) though we could have comfortably had a few more in the house. The house can easily accommodate large groups hanging out in the living room/kitchen/balcony area and because the rooms are all spacious and have their own bathrooms, it is easy to get private time away from the group if needed. The property owners were very communicative and helpful via text. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a big house with easy access to the beach.

It was a perfect house for heading out each day to explore the Island, and then gathering each night to cook a meal and dine together as we watched the sunset over the ocean.

Having 5 bedrooms and 5 baths made this house the perfection option for my group of adults. The house was spacious and well-appointed, and it’s proximity to Waimea Canyon, Barking Sands, Polihale, and small boat harbors (for Na Pali tours) can’t be beat. Would absolutely stay here again!

September 2021
Wonderful experience! Bedrooms were plenty big with numerous bathrooms for our group. Best part was sitting on the deck watching the ocean. It made it so hard to leave- but we will definitely be back! It’s a drive to pretty much anywhere, but so worth it.

August 2021
Beautiful balcony, spectacular view, comfortable home, close proximity to many amazing sites (canyon, beaches), and incredibly helpful owner. The only thing worth mentioning as a precaution is that the shoreline across the street isn’t really for swimming. BUT, just a short walk in either direction or, even better, a short drive to Polihale makes the location really worthwhile. We would have enjoyed many more nights there.

Very large spacious house, perfect for extended families. Well equipped kitchen, good wi-fi and large screen TV. Comfortable beds. 3 miles from Waimea, the closet town. Very accommodating host.

We loved our time at this beautiful home on the coast in Kekaha! Our favorite part of the house was the porch. The hammock and swing were perfect touches. We had a big family group of 10 and the many rooms and bathrooms worked out just right. We liked the location away from the busiest tourist parts of the island and enjoyed the peacefulness of each morning and evening spent on the porch. It’s also a great location to get out to the western side of the island for sunsets on the beach or up in Waimea canyon. The beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, buckets, umbrella, and coolers were very much appreciated and used on multiple trips around the island exploring its many beautiful beaches. Thank you for the clean and well-kept house that we got to call home for the week!

The house was very nice and we liked how four of the five bedrooms had en-suite bathrooms. We loved the lanai looking out over the ocean. We did appreciate the air conditioning. We enjoyed the beach supplies that were provided. It was a great house for our needs. It isn’t close to many tourist destinations but very close to Waimea Canyon which we were aware of before reserving it.

Overall, we had a good experience here. My family enjoyed the gorgeous oceanfront view as we ate breakfast every morning at the house. The home is spacious and the 8 of us had enough room to sprawl out. Patrick is very personable and friendly, but I think communication leading up to the trip could've been better, as I had a really packed schedule at work and would've preferred to receive an email or text regarding check-in instructions, as opposed to a phone call, but eventually received it in written form.

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
