The house is what we expected. The weather was hot and there was no breeze coming in the windows. Therefore, the house was warmer than we would have anticipated. The owner had many fans for the common areas. The bedrooms do have AC. I can’t blame the owner for the weather. If you are used to AC and do not tolerate the heat, then this may not be the home for you. The home is a short walk to the beach and shopping. We did enjoy our stay at this home. This side of the island does get more rain.

2 blocks from gorgeous beach, walkable to town and good eats and Market. The six adults in our family never felt crowded as each couple had their own bathroom. Open concept living dining area for family time. Friendly House cat ( outside) keep us smiling. Kitchen well stocked if you felt like cooking. Outdoor shower was a big hit! We loved this home.

We had a fantastic 2 week stay at The Hanalei. Perfect walkimg distance to the beach. 15 minute walk to downtown Hanalei which is nice, because you are away from the downtown crowd and noise. Great amenities. Beach chairs and beach towels could use an upgrade. It is dark inside and very hot so the fans were used. But, overall, we had an awesome stay.

I came with my husband, parents, and three kids (ages 2-9). There was plenty of room for the seven of us, and we were delighted with the proximity of the house to the beach. The outdoor shower and washer/dryer at the house made it easy to keep ourselves and our clothes and towels clean. The kitchen was easy to prepare meals in. It wasn’t prefect, but our complaints were so minor compared to the benefits of staying at this house. Overall, we were very happy with the space.

This may have been one of the cleanest most organized houses we have stayed in! Everything we needed for a great stay in Hanalei. Short walk to the beach and grocery store. Excellent communication with the host on all levels. We will be staying here again!

We overall enjoyed our time as a family of 2 grandparents, 2 adults and a 5 year old.
Just a couple of negative things - the bbq is not a stainless steel bbq as advertised. It is a Webber grill that needs briquets. We found an empty bag of briquets and lighter fluid in the outdoor closet, but when we asked about replacing them, were told they are not provided. We had already purchased meats for grilling so had to drive to purchase briquets. Would be nice to provide for the grill as they are needed to bbq!
We also agree with previous reviews of the photos being extremely misleading…. It is very dark inside. So dark that we needed to take the lamp shades off to be able to read.
Also, although the location is just 2 blocks from the beach, it is almost at the opposite end of the bay from the pier. As we were here in January, the water was not swimmable where we were and had to drive to the pier area in order to go in the water. We walked with all our beach stuff one day just to play in the sand with our 5 year old, and the life guards actually asked us to leave, even when we said we weren’t going to go in the water. He told us it’s just too dangerous with a smaller child to be close by the water as a wave could come up. He asked us to move to the beach by the pier. So although the unit it is very close to the beach, depending on the time of year you’re here and the age of any children that might be with you, the close beach might not be ideal.

Everything was great--plenty of beach things in the outdoor closet, and the beach was close, as was the town. We onlu disappointment was that a freezer had leaked water over the kitchen floor when we arrived. There was a sign on the freezer saying not to use it. We put towels on the floor and mopped up the mess, and it didn't reoccur. Would definitely rent this house again!

We enjoyed our stay at the Hanalei so much! We were there primarily for the surf and were not disappointed. The location was just a block from the beach. The size of the duplex was perfect for our group of six adults. We used the kitchen for most of our meals which was fully equipped with utensils, pots and pans, etc. We would not hesitate booking here again with a large group.

The Hanalei was the perfect size for our seven family members. Spacious, clean, beautiful decor. Enough living and dining room seating for all of us. Nice location, a couple blocks from the beach and near town.

The check in process was very easy. The home is just a few minutes walk from Hanalei bay and very short drive to local restaurants, coffee shops, etc. the view from the kitchen is absolutely stunning. Bed was very comfy and the whole place seemed spacious for a duplex. Didn’t hear the neighbors at all. We loved this place and would definitely stay again!

Very relaxing week. Upon arrival we discovered the refrigerator was out. They brought us an ice chest and the next day a brand new refrigerator was delivered! House was very airy and the AC in each bedroom was more than appreciated!

We had an amazing two weeks at this fantastic property. It is a duplex but we NEVER heard our neighbors even though a few groups came and went while we were there.
The room a/c units were great, and really helped us sleep comfortably at night. During the day we kept the sliders and windows open to give us a breeze when we cooked and relaxed in them main room and kitchen.
The beach is less than a five minute walk. We spent hours on the sand straight out from the house. We also enjoyed Black Pot near the Pier where we could jump off the pier and surf the small break near the river mouth.
Walking into town is a breeze to burn some extra calories from all the mai tais! The Dophin fish market is amazing for fresh fish. Wishing Well Shave Ice is THE best and only place we get our shave ice from. Big Save is close by for essentials and Foodland in Princeville has a great larger selection.
No trip to Hanalei is complete without going to the Tahiti Nui...the most famoues and best Mai Tais in the world, in our opinion. The staff is always lovely, the food is great, the atmosphere is amazing, and we love that Auntie Louise is still present in spirit.
The Hanalei house is the perfect spot for your medium sized group. We'd definitely stay there again. The property manager was quick to respond to any questions we had. She was always polite and informed. The kitchen was the best stocked we've seen and we've stayed all over Hanalei in the past 12 years.
Mahalo for the memories and hospitality. We shall be back!

This was our 2nd time staying here. We love the easy access to the beach and then the ease of returning from the beach to the outdoor shower and back patio (stocked with various beach toys too). Excellent location for a multi-generational family get away!!

Hanalei Bay is our family favorite destination. This home was perfect for all our needs. From the short walk to the beach, to beach toys, beach towels and beach chairs, we were in heaven. We had 4 children, ages 4-10 and spent every day in or near the water. We rented double kayaks up the Hanalei River and enjoy a day of paddling out into the bay. the kids enjoyed hanging together and the owner kindly loaned us 2 sleeping mats and extra sheets which was a life saver. The three separate bedrooms with bathrooms was perfect and well insulated for sound. I'm older, and Really appreciated The AC in the bedroom. It was a gift that offered a comfortable nights sleep, as well as the large quiet overhead fans to keep the air moving. My family and I would definitely love to come again.

We were three family couples/ single and the Hanalei was perfect for our stay on the north shore of Kauai. Three beds, three en suite bathrooms on the main floor! We cooked delicious meals in the well stocked kitchen, enjoyed relaxing in the living area. It was a rainy week in Hanalei and the waterfalls in view from the kitchen window were spectacular. Booking and communication was easy and professional. We loved our time here. Mahalo!

Checkin was seamless. House felt bigger than I pictured. We felt safe and comfortable, which is ultimately what we’re all looking for. We had a great stay and would gladly do it again!!
Suggestions for improvement: I was told there would be beach items, but all we found were sun hats and umbrellas. I was hoping for some boogie boards, sand toys, beach chairs, etc. The cooler was a great feature though!
It would also be nice to always have zip lock baggies and/or plastic wrap and aluminum foil always available. There were lots of odds/ins in the kitchen but it was random and seemed to be what was left from prior guests the dishes/equipment was great though!!

We loved our stay at the Hanalei bay property. Property is walking distance from Hanalei Bay which is surfer's paradise. Property was maintained pretty well. Open plan with kitvchen and dining area with Living area was fun to have all family members around. I do advise to get your own sugar and spices if you plan to cook . They have beach chairs , umbrellas, water shoes and other beach toys which was helpful. Backyard shower was amazing for clean up the sand before going in the house. I would really hope that there was few more lights in living area and bedrooms. All in all , we enjoyed our stay .

Very comfortable and spacious house, at the end of Hanalei town. The beach is a short walk down a side road, and town is maybe a 2-3 min drive. The beds are comfortable, and the AC in the bedrooms is effective - and It was easy to stay cool in the rest of the house with the high ceilings and ample fan coverage. The kitchen is well equipped and has the best view in the house. The owner was very responsive to a minor issue we had with a leaky water dispenser in the frig.
The house feels quite big - there was plenty of room for my family of 5 to space out, and there were some chairs and other things to take to the beach (and it's a great, uncrowded swimmable beach). It is however no where near as bright inside as the pictures, but it's not dark and dingy either. Just feel the need to point that out, as I had read that in another review and knew to expect it, otherwise I may have been disappointed.
Bottom line - we loved our stay here and would be delighted to stay here again sometime. I hope we can come back!

Our family of 4 (with two teens) stayed here for four nights and the house was perfect for us. Hanalei is such a wonderful spot and the house provides easy access to everything in town. AC in the bedrooms was wonderful and the walk to the beach in super easy. Road work was easy to navigate as long as you pay close attention to the schedules. House was clean, well stocked, and comfortable. I would recommend this house without reservation!

We loved staying here! A five minute walk to and from the bay was perfect. The decor is simple and modern and very comfortable. We prefer to cook on vacation and the kitchen was a dream. As the landslide-related road repair just above the bridge slows traffic significantly, it was lovely to have the beach quite spacious during the week. For us, the loft sleeping space was too warm for sleeping so would love to see an AC put up there (as in other bedrooms). We are gratefully dog lovers, so weren't bothered by the chorus of barking from multiple sides. We also ADORE the rooster, dove and minah bird soundscape that is Kauai.

The location was great. You can walk to the beach. The overall house is not as bright as the pictures. The kitchen is well stocked and the beds comfortable. Does not have central a/c and the main room was hot. Bedrooms stayed cool.

You really can't beat the proximity to the beach and Hanalei is a fantastic town to walk around.
1 callout in case helpful to others, but didn't really impact our stay, is the wifi was REALLY slow.
