We loved our stay at Puanani House. The common areas are spacious, tho the bedrooms are small. I especially loved the outdoor shower daytime under tall Royal palms and night under the stars. The location is perfect within walking distance to the beach and to town.

Puanani is a great little house in a fantastic location just a couple of blocks off the Hanalei strip of shops and restaurants on a quiet cul de sac (save for the 5 AM roosters). It was perfect for our family of four (our adult children shared the room with twin beds, I and my wife slept in the master bedroom). The house has two bedrooms, two bathrooms indoors, plus an outdoor shower. The electric range was fine, even for a gas snob like myself, and there's a large gas grill. Outdoor table on the deck makes for pleasant meals. Washer/Dryer and 4 beach chairs and umbrella were on site, a nice bonus. No AC and no dishwasher, but we were never hot (in April temps peaked at around 80). If you are looking for luxury, Puanani is not for you. But if you are looking to live comfortably "like a local" for a few days in the best part of the island, I highly recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay! The place was perfect for the two of us and had everything we needed. Fully stocked kitchen for cooking in, chairs and umbrella for the beach and a great outdoor shower. Easy stroll into town or to the beach. I might recommend some new furniture for the lanai but this place is still a gem! Can’t wait to come back!

If you are looking for a simple Hanalei beach getaway you wont do better than Puanani Hale. Perfect location on a quiet cul-du-sac, a short walk from both the stores and the beach.

We fell in love with Hale Puanani the moment we drove up to it. The grounds are beautiful and filled with exotic flowers. The inside feels like home from the first moment. Hale Puanani was well equipped with everything we needed and more. We appreciated its comfort and old Hawaii decor. I chose it for its location so close to both town and the beach. My granddaughters explored both in safety and delight.

I was very happy with Kauai vacation rental staff. Everyone was kind and helpful and provided needed information. The house was a delight !It was very clean and had everything one would need. The cushions on the deck desperately need replacing- they were very uncomfortable as they were super thin and worn. I know there was caution given to being quiet for the neighbors but the neighbors are the noisy ones. The driveway is used as a turn around throughout the day. I could not figure out why so many cars coming to the end of the street and then turning into driveway. I would recommend a chain or rope across the driveway. Others before me have commented on this as well. They make a lot of noise turning on the gravel. Wondered if it is intentional.

Mixed opinion about the property.The good:- central location in Hanalei while being in a very quiet area- in walking distance to beach and town- wonderful outdoor area - clean The not-so-good:- very outdated interior (price-value not balanced)- not well-insulated from outside noise (be prepared to wake up every day by 3 am thanks to the roosters that live outside) - neighbor complaining about noise from watching TV at reasonable volume in a rather rude way. We are seasoned travelers and very respectful towards locals wherever we go but this made us feel unwelcome. On the bright side another neighbor stopped by the next morning and apologized for her. - communication from rental agency was a bit too much - too many follow ups and reminders including download of unnecessary app- check in process very outdated where you have to pick up and drop off keys at actual agency office

This home is located perfectly between Hanalei Bay and town. You can be at either location in a two minute walk. The house is a little rustic but was the perfect get away for myself and a friend. No need for a car with the proximity to all that Hanalei has to offer. I would stay here again.

Our family (husband, myself, two boys,16 and 11) had a great stay at this property. Super clean and comfortable. It's a well-lived-in house, meaning no granite countertops or fancy tiles in the bathroom. The outdoor shower is grand and the location is superb. Yes, the roosters are noisy, but they are literally everywhere. So I think you would hear them wherever you stayed in Hanalei. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend.

Would have given 5 stars, the property deserves it, but the resident rooster crowed the entire night. And the property behind us was under construction the whole week and were very loud (air compressor, nail gun) so it was not a relaxing place during the day. We would have appreciated a heads up on that. The property itself was perfect for us and close to the beach and downtown. It would have been lovely if it were not for all the racket.

Clean house with a 5 minute walk from the beach and from shops & restaurants. Has that 1970s surfer house vibe. Beach chairs, towels, kitchen appliances provided. We loved the outdoor shower. If you haven't been to Hanalei before know that it is gorgeous but is definitely the wet side of the island.

Perfect location only a 2 minute walk to the restaurants and shops and 2 minutes to the beach. Cozy cottage had everything we needed(just wish it had surf boards or boogies boards). Comfortable bed and the outdoor shower was wonderful! We loved being greeted by the geckos every morning. Roosters weren’t a bother at all. We will definitely be back.

We loved the old school Hawaiian vibe here-quiet neighborhood (except for the roosters which lend a charm until they wake you at 2,3,4,5 am🙀), the house is simple and quiet and a perfect location. We will be back!! One comment-although the couch is cool looking it’s not very comfy. We loved having beach gear available to us. It’s a wonderful hane!

The house is adorable and cozy. The VRBO description about the neighborhood being quiet is misleading. There is a crazy neighbor who comes over to yell, scream, cuss us out and threaten to call the cops because we were in the living room with our 12 year old watching a movie after 9am. The property management company told us they have more problems with her than any other property on the island. The homeowners and management company need to be a better job disclosing the truth about the neighborhood. The other neighbors were all lovely, just this one person who was bent on taking out her unhappiness on tourists.

The property managers were great, there was a small issue with the washing machine and they provided a workaround until it could be fixed. The house itself was very nice and we really enjoyed it. There's very little air conditioning and Hanalei and if you happen to go when it's hot be prepared to just enjoy the breeze and the indoor fans. The house is located very close to Hanalei Bay which was great for swimming when we were there in mid-september, is also very close to Hanalei town which has some great restaurants and shops.

We absolutely adored everything about our stay at Puanani house. It was immaculate and comfortable in every way. The location was perfect - we could walk to the beach or town in minutes, but had a sense of quiet and peace away from the crowds. The kitchen was well set up and the grill very good, so we cooked in several times. Despite the rainy week it was a joy to be there. Reading on the lanai with the mountains moving in and out of the clouds was the perfect way to get out of the rain. I can't wait to come back.

The house was a pefect location for us, a family with two teenagers. Wifi worked perfect. We loved the outdoor shower and the terrace with the great barbecue. We did not miss the aircondition, it worked well with the fans and the open windows. Well- equipt and clean, with lots of towels.
We loved the view in the garden, flowers, mountains...
Short walk to restaurants as well as to the beach or for a hike.

We loved staying on this quiet street 5 minutes to the beach one way and Hanalei town the other. It felt like being in a real neighbourhood. The house had everything we needed. The BBQ was amazing, lots of towels, comfy beds, homey feel. We absolutely loved the pretty tropical garden full of flowers and geckos. The showers were great, one inside and one out. The louvred windows, fans and covered deck kept things nice and cool. Definitely recommend this place for a chill family holiday.
