Great location and lovely cottage on serene grounds— wonderful stay steps to Hanalei bay and beach as well as town. We appreciated the eco conscious living, outdoor shower/ no shoe policy to keep the interior clean and fans/multiple windows to keep cool.

Absolutely loved our stay at Pauole! Everything was clean, kitchen was well stocked including some seasonings and even Tupperware which was very helpful. The views from the backyard are amazing, you can see waterfalls out the window, and helpful having the yard gated so kids can safely run around. Boogie boards, umbrella, 6 beach chairs, and even floats and sand toys were available. Location can’t be beat. Walkway to the beach is right across the street, and it’s a less crowded part of the beach since the public parking lot isn’t too close by. Communication was great, quick responses to any questions I had along the way, and when the road to Hanalei was shut down on our arrival day due to flooding, the vacation rental company reached out to us to offer an alternate accommodation in princeville, and stayed in communication after hours so we weren’t stranded. Would absolutely stay here again, and definitely will rent through Kauai vacation rentals in the future!

We had an amazing time staying at the Pauole house! It’s an adorable cottage with all the amenities you could possibly need (microwave, charcoal grill, washer/dryer, rice cooker, slow cooker, pots/pans, big bowls for mixing and even stuff for baking)
Location CANNOT be beat, right across street from beach trail and less than 5 minute walk to town. House was very clean, beds were comfortable (4 beds in all - great for myself, my boyfriend & his kids as well as a family friend to all stay & sleep comfortably). Newer TV with cable & wi-fi was an excellent connection. Outdoor shower is great for after surfing & with hot water too!
Checking in/out was very easy & good communication overall. Would definitely stay here again!! Mahalo for a wonderful & smooth island adventure :)

This house, while sparse, is so perfectly located that it is a not-to-be-missed rental. While being incredibly close to the beach, it's also a super close walk to town. I wish I could be there right now.

We had a wonderful stay at Pauole house in Hanalei. Wonderful location with beach access less than 100 steps from the house. Backyard was extremely spacious with amazing views that we will never forget. We have already decided that there is nowhere else we would consider staying when traveling to Kauai. The one thing that could be improved is the queen mattress/box spring in the secondary bedroom. Other than that, everything was perfect

This house is basic but comfortable and as clean as you can expect for an old beach house. Furnishings could use updating, but the space was perfect for us. Two twin beds in the side bonus room allowed all 3 kids to have their own bed. Great yard with no house behind and view of mountains. Grab an avocado from the tree if you can reach it. Location can't be beat, cool beach access path right across the street 2 minutes to the sand. 5 minute walk going the other way to get to restaurants/shops. There were beach chairs, umbrella and 2 boogie boards. Kauai vacation rentals were responsive to our requests. Would stay here again.

great location 17 steps from property edge to beach access 166 paces to beach.had all the beach accessories needed for a good time-chairs umbrella grill outside showers for sand removal and a clean house.views of mountains waterfalls and the ocean were great.little over 1/4 mile walk to town with food and groceries available even without using a car very do-able.

Wonderful stay in Hanalei! Just what we wanted for our needs. Not fancy but everything works and it's a very practical home for life by the beach. We particularly liked the outdoor showers, lanai, extra beach chairs and umbrella, boogie boards and other leftovers that guests have donated. Don't expect luxury living as the home itself has a practical and basic interior. Nothing wrong with it at all but just something you should know in case you like more luxury. The biggest plus of this property is its location with a path to the beach right across the street. Look forward to coming again and enjoying the home, sizeable yard and 'Scott' the Rooster who patrols the garden and gets you up early for your day.

This house is so perfect. Just a short walk to the most beautiful beach on the island. House has old school charm which we loved. Lots of space, we had 4 adults and 2 teenagers. The twin beds on the "lanai" were perfect for them and it has an attached bathroom.

Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation. We loved the house and really felt like we were locals for the time we were there. The location is incredible, across the street from the beach and a block and a half to all the shops and we woke to a symphony of birds every morning. So restorative.The house is really well appointed with outdoor toys and chairs, kitchen with many cooking things and tools, etc. We loved how the house is more original to the town with the slatted glass windows that allowed a lovely breeze through. We all loved the outdoor shower. Everything was so clean. I loved walking to the coffee shops every morning for breakfast and greeting the locals. I want to live here forever.

Loved the location - literally across the street from the path to the beach, and a quick walk to town. Didn't need a car the entire visit. The house was older but perfect. The privacy in the yard is amazing with a beautiful view.

The best thing about this house was the location and the friendly and helpful staff at the rental co. The house is a few minutes walk to downtown Hanalei or the beach. It was good sized and comfy and generally clean, but for its price range, it was dated and somewhat worn out, with many things needing a new coat of paint, a good scrubbing, or maintenance. Sometimes running the microwave caused a breaker to trip. There’s no dishwasher, but the kitchen was decently equipped otherwise. The furniture was in good shape, the TV seemed new, and the Wi-Fi worked fine for Zoom and Netflix. They provided flashlights, beach stuff, a basic charcoal BBQ, and some supplies including TP, soap, detergent and paper towels - but we had to buy shampoo & conditioner, salt & pepper, and plastic wrap & foil (there was also no leftover sunblock or bug repellent). Inside it sometimes got fairly warm in the afternoons, but ventilation was good and it cooled off at night, and there were ceiling fans and a bunch of portable fans. The yard was large and fenced, the street outside sometimes was a little busy, but the neighbors were quiet (other than the wandering roosters). We accidentally locked ourselves out once, but we called the rental office and they got us back inside fast; we also called when we had those electric problems and they quickly told us where the breaker box was. Before check-in we had to pick up the keys at the rental office (and drop them off after check-out), and we didn’t have to start laundry before leaving.

My mistake, missed that this house didn't have A/C. It became uncomfortable in afternoons, but OK otherwise. They need to install at least a mini-split in the public areas for during the day. The house was in need of updates, for the price point, they should start to renovate bits at a time. No evidence of update activity. On to the good...
We normally stay in more remote Ha'ena home rentals on the water, but none were available. We went for something in town in Hanalei bay and this was the PERFECT spot for staying in town. Everything, and I mean everything, was in walking distance. Shops, restaurants, coffee and cafe's, the beach... all steps away. The house provides all the norms for a house stay, including beach chairs and boogie boards for the water. While the bay seemed to have 'no swimming' signs up that I think were related to topical rip tides here and there, and a lot of surfers and surfer dominated areas, still that every day we found areas within steps that had swimmers, and two lifeguard towers staffed. We had a great time. Small note also that while the TV had many channels listed, most did not work when trying to view them - would just get a black screen, or 'not subscribed'. We weren't indoors often though.
