This is our absolute favorite property to stay in Kauai. The host Gary, is amazing to work with. the property its self is absolutely beautiful. The beach just a short walk away was our favorite. We had our teen age daughter with us and did a lot of excursions on the south side. My husband and I decided next time when it’s just the two of us we would golf, beach and things here in Princeville. If you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere with a stunning view this is the place!

This spectacular condo could not have been more perfect! Bright, super clean, comfortable, beautiful decor, views. Lots of spices and cooking supplies to make great meals on the terrace. Great location for touring the north and east parts of the island. Hiked down to Hideaways beach to watch incredible sunsets.

Pu'a Poa 402 is the most beautiful place we've ever stayed. The condo is beautiful with everything available to make our stay perfect. The location was extremely quiet and peaceful. The view and private deck is a great place to sit, listen to the ocean and watch people surf. We actually miss being there but will be back. Thanks again Gary!

Very happy with our recent stay. It's a quick hike down to Hidden Beach, but the surf was rough and the coral close to shore, so not ideal for little kids if you bring any. Very convenient western edge of the Princeville development means you're only minutes away by car to Hanalai shops, restaurants and beaches.
Owner is very accommodating and provides a helpful info on restaurants, beaches, and places of interest. Would stay here again without hesitation.

We were so pleased to return to this wonderful condo for another stay. Our brother and sister-in-law, who were with us, were very impressed as well. This condo not only has beautiful views, but is impeccably maintained, very clean, and well stocked with all the basics and then some. There are so many thoughtful touches, including a welcome bottle of wine and macadamia nuts upon arrival! There are instructions for everything which are very clear and so helpful. The owner, Gary, is an excellent host and makes sure there is a clear way to contact his property manager, or even himself, if any need arises. You can’t really ask for a more beautiful place to stay, nor could you ask for a more gracious host! Truly, just wonderful! Thank you Gary for another fantastic stay!

Our stay was nothing short of amazing. We normally stay at a nearby resort when going to Kauai but found this gem of a condo and could not have been happier with our choice. This was a dream condo. It was spotless and very very well appointed with so many ammenities in the unit itself and the property in general. We could not have loved our stay more. The owner of the property takes great care of the condo to make sure guests have what they need and even has binders onsite to help with not only the check in/check out process but places to go eat and see. The beds were VERY comfortable and the in unit W/D was very clean and new. The kitchen supplies and appliances were also kept up to date and clean. If I could give 10 stars for the accomodations and communication I would. Guest and owner have responsibilities with that, but he makes it easy. THANK YOU.

What a great experience! This Pu’u Po’a unit is awesome. It has an amazing location and view. We enjoyed watching the ocean and the surfers! It is fully stocked with everything you could want or need - for cooking, living, relaxing and enjoying the property and beach amenities. The on-site pool has recently been renovated and is never too busy. I ca t thank the property owner more for his excellent communication, recommendations and consideration for our desire to have a wonderful vacation. I would (and plan to) recommend this unit to anyone who is looking for a relaxing getaway in Kauai with a spectacular view and location. We hope to be repeat renters!

Just returned from a wonderful, relaxing vacation at this great property -- and I look forward to returning in the future. The condo is in a great location (end of Princeville) and the top floor offers privacy and a spectacular view. The home is very comfortable (great bed that even my picky husband approved and comfortable couches) and is very well equipped with everything you could need (extensive spices/oils for cooking and lots of beach toys for playing). Gary is the most welcoming host we have come across -- he sent an in-depth package of information and wine/snacks welcome gift. His recommendations for hikes (don't miss the walk to the Stone Dam, which is flat and beautiful), activities and restaurants were great. Rain was only an issue on one morning -- and we simply drove south to Kapaa where the weather was fine. (Kapaa has a paved oceanfront trail -- rent bikes and stop for a Mai Tai at Jimmy's). North Shore is our favorite -- and this condo is 5+ stars!

This place had the best views and the best interior craftsmanship out of any place we have stayed on the Island. Everything was top notch and very high-end, but having to worry about how much electric we were using for the AC was not a welcome feeling during vacation. For anyone looking to stay here, just know that we had the AC running for an average of 10-12 hours per day (mostly at night and while sleeping so it wasnt so muggy), and it didn't cost that much, however it would be nice if it was just accounted for in the nightly rate. Overall, we like to try new places every time we stay on the island, but this one we would come back to!

The property owners love this property and want you to love it as well. I have never stayed in a Vrbo so well stocked. Everything is provided to make you stay as pleasant as possible. The patio view is a dream. Sunsets are unforgettable from the patio. Hideaways beach just off the property is a 10-15 hike down but a piece of heaven on earth. The property owner was super responsive. Yikes, I forgot my wedding ring and the owner arranged to fedex it back to me, which I reimbursed. Vacation saved! This was a dream family vacation and I could not recommend this property more highly.

It is hard to describe how wonderful this place is- the pictures give you an idea but it is just so amazing. The condo is beautiful. The location is amazing. Having the ocean view is enchanting, But the mountain view out the front is even more amazing. The condo is well supplied for every need. You'll really only need to bring some extra soap and shampoo (and maybe a few rolls of toilet paper for a long stay). The spice cabinet was complete. My husband loves to cook and the kitchen was filled with everything we needed. Gary is wonderful. You will LOVE this place. So glad we chose to celebrate our 25th anniversary there.

We stayed 6 nights. The condo was beautifully decorated, just enough Hawaiiana without the kitsch. The kitchen was probably the best I have seen in a vrbo rental, organized and fully equipped. The floorplan is very spacious and open, loved the flow. Spent as much time on the lanai as the rain would permit, stunning ocean view.

This is a fantastic property exactly as advertised. There is literally nothing negative to note. One item others have commented on, which is out of the owners control, there is construction going on in the building and next door. It only occurs during the day. It's only an issue if you plan to hang around the unit during daytime. Otherwise, it's a 10 out of 10

This beautiful condo is perfectly located on the north side of the island for those who are interested in hiking, snorkeling and kayaking, in particular. The property has everything needed for your comfort and enjoyment, including outdoor recreational equipment and a thoughtfully-equipped kitchen. There also are many resources in the condo to help you plan your days. If I were pressed to recommend any improvements, they would be only a beach umbrella or beach tent, and an umbrella on the lanai over the lounge chairs. The sun in Kauai is very intense!

Everything about this place made our trip truly special. The views are stunning and we saw whales playing in the water every evening before sunset. The sunroom was a great place to hang out when it was raining and still felt like we were outside. The back bedroom was comfortable and roomy. Both beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a good blender to make pina coladas! The only worthwhile heads up is that accessing Hideaway Beach was somewhat underplayed. While it is unbelievably spectacular and very secluded, to get there, you have to get down a very steep and sometimes muddy trail where you have to hold on to ropes to descend. If you’re older or not in good physical shape, you may have to take a pass. Two of the four of us (in their 60’s) thought it was too tenuous to attempt. Also, beware there’s quite a bit of renovation construction happening at Pu’u Poa, the resort property next store and on the north side of the island in general. It made for moderate, unwanted noise—no fault of the owner. Otherwise, this property (and it’s very conscientious owners) are everything you would hope for on a luxury Hawaiian vacation.

All I can saw is WOW. This place was beyond what we had expected.

The pictures don’t lie. If anything, they don’t do this beautiful home justice. We especially liked the solarium. My wife and I would sit there every morning drinking ou coffee/tea and watch the surfers and whales offshore. The owner, Gary, was very responsive to our concerns (we had a cleaning snafu). He was likewise very upfront about things out of his control such as nearby construction. On that note, I would caution anyone staying anywhere at Puu Poa to be aware of the hotel property next door. They claim they’ll be reopened for “Spring 2022” but I am very doubtful of that. In the meantime you’ll have to put up with the noise starting at 7AM.

The condo and its owners were truly unbelievable. The condo had everything you would need and was everything you could ask for. My son's family stayed in another condo on the property and he commented that he could easily live full time in our condo. Gary and Anne's condo was just stunning! I loved all the art work in the condo and the view of the ocean is to die for. We had a hard time getting our kids to leave the condo to go out and do stuff it was almost to good here. Our whole family is absolutely in love with the hideaway beach below The condo! We went snorkeling almost everyday we were there. Some of us have bad allergies so we couldn't eat out very much however we were so happy to find out that Gary has every kitchen tool you could possibly need. We loved eating on the lanai watching the sunset and the gekos. Gary was an excellent host he really went out of his way to make sure we were having a great time. We came to Kauai to celebrate my husband's 50 the birthday and Gary had left him a birthday card with some macadamia nuts wine and a fancy new pen! He also gave us his mini golf tickets which sadly we could not use because the mini golf place was no longer accepting them due to issues with covid. We had the best time at Gary and Anne's place I really hope we can come back someday!

From the moment we walked into the condo and were greeted with a spectacular sunset over the Napali coast we knew we were in for a great week. Everything in the condo is as advertised; Gary is a great host that made sure we had all of our instructions for the condo well in advance of arrival. The kitchen is very well appointed, which made it easy to prepare a few gourmet meals with the fish we bought (and caught!). And what can be said about the location other than - wow!! It's a short drive into Hanalei where we caught a cruise of the Napali coast. The Queen's Bath is walking distance and highly recommended. Overall, getting around the island was very easy and Pu'u Po'a #402 gave us a great home base for all of our activities.

Gary and Anne have a beyond outstanding Princeville home, which was perfect for our friend group of 4. The condo has epic ocean and sunrise/set views from the balcony, is just steps away from the beach, and has every amenity you can think of from cookware, towels, snorkel gear and coolers! We spent lots of time at Hideaway Beach, which is a steep but doable climb down behind the pool; groceries were a quick less than 5 min drive away and we even were walking distance to Queens Baths. We can’t wait to visit again - thank you for all the quick and easy communication throughout our stay Gary!

This space was a dream. Would love to rent again and hope that happens soon! The small beach directly below property was a highlight. Loved the patio with bbq and chairs overlooking the ocean. All needed amenities were available and bonuses like sunscreen!
Covid restrictions at the county level made the process uncertain and ever changing, though necessary. That challenge should be in the past with recent April 5 changes. However, it made communication a bit challenging and certainly frustrating because no one knew exactly what was expected. After many hours of research we ended up having to book a “resort bubble” for 3 nights in addition to paying for this space. Only complaint is lack of flexibility to shift rental dates based on current covid restrictions (resulting in payment of two rentals for the same 3 nights) and also understand the difficult position property owners are in. Tough all around. At the end of the day, very worth it.

Gary is an amazing host that goes above and beyond for his guests. We were going to split our trip between Princeville and Hanalei, but a major landslide took out the road to Hanalei after we had already checked out. Gary and his team took care of us!

I have stayed at numerous vacation rentals over the years. Gary the owner of this gorgeous property is the most well organized, conscientious owner I have ever dealt with. The unit and location were perfect for our needs. The kitchen is well equipped for any cooking needs. We had planned on cooking a few meals there, but ended up going out for our lunches and dinners. There are many very good restaurants within a few minutes drive. Hideaway Beach sits directly beneath this unit and is worth the 5 or 10 minute climb to get there. Hopefully we will be back soon.

We absolutely loved this unit. We are a family of four (two teenage kids) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Gary is the most organized and diligent owner we have met through HomeAway. He gave us terrific information prior to our arrival and we found the unit in perfect condition. Everything worked properly and was as advertised. The location was great. We enjoyed great views from the lanai and it is very close to Hanalei and less than 30 minutes from Ke'e beach at the end of the road in the North Shore.

We had the pleasure of staying in the Ekdahl's lovely condo for a week, returning home on April 6th. I didn't want to leave! Our party consisted of my daughter, son-in-law, my husband, and myself.
The condo presents just as the pictures show. It has plenty of space, lovely finishes, and amazing views. You can see the mountains, with their lush jungles, and tropical flowers out the front door, and see an expansive view of the ocean from all of the living areas inside the condo. It was well stocked, and if you choose, has everything you need to prepare meals. We took advantage of some of the other things provided as well, such as beach towels with mats to set them on, tennis racquets and balls, and even snorkel gear.
The property itself is in the perfect location. We loved the feel of Princeville, and Puu Poa is set nearly at the end of the road, nextdoor to the Princeville Resort. There is a steep path adjacent to the pool, that leads to Hideaways beach below the condo. We did not access that, as my husband has mobility issues. There are stairs that go down to the beach below the Princeville resort, and an elevator inside that they so graciously allowed us to use somy husband got to enjoy the beach, too.
The Princeville shopping center is just a couple of minutes away, complete with restaurants, shops, and a Foodland grocery store. Hanalei and Kilauea are just a short drive away and have many fun restaurant options.
Gary has been a very gracious and responsive host from start to finish. I couldn't recommend this condominium and location more. I was happy to have the time to drive around the island, and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else but the North shore. Summed up in one word, paradise.

We had a lovely time in our 5 nights at this condo. The furniture and decor are wonderfully done and very comfortable.
When the weather was good (which was most of the time), we took every advantage of all the nearby activities and sights. When it wasn't (on our last day), we sat on the deck and watched rain squalls blow in, then watched whales breach in the storm. Hide-a-way Beach is a gem, and just down the (fairly steep) hill. If you need easier access to a beach, the Princeville Resort beach is open to the public and just down some steps on the other side of the point. Both beaches are swimmable, but this will always depend upon the surf. Our kids enjoyed the pool and tennis courts. We enjoyed the books, puzzles, and games.
The condo is equipped with everything you could need, right down to the spice drawer and laundry soap. The owner has placed quite a few tastefully scripted signs around to remind guests how to care for the house, and given the lovely floors and finishes, this seemed to us most appropriate.
Although we stayed in January under partly cloudy skies much of the time such that air conditioning probably wasn't ultimately necessary, I did enjoy running it at night in the master bedroom. Most other units at this facility are not similarly equipped, and someone with my temperature preferences probably would want this amenity available during the summer months.
Gary, the host, happened to be just leaving when we were arriving and was most hospitable. He kept in touch by email during the stay and thought ahead to kindly offer us late check-out, which we happily took advantage of.

As all the other reviews say: Great view, home, location, cleanliness, decor, setup for activities (e.g. Beach equipment). Owner very easy to work with. Only minor issue was DSL internet, dropped off often for periods each day. If you need to work during stay, you will be using cellular data often.

I stayed at Gary Ekdahl’s Pu’u Po’a #402 for a week in early October 2018. The place was in very good shape. It is updated nicely and tastefully and was very clean. It is also well equipped in the kitchen and with beach items you can use. Gary was very responsive, professional and easy to work with. You can tell he has been doing this for years as an owner and has everything well-organized and easy to work with as a guest. The pictures are a good representation of the unit and it really is that nice.
The downstairs unit #302 is being remodeled which should be done by early December 2018. I did not find this problematic for me as I was out of the unit most of the day and the workers were also willing to be accommodating and they asked if they were bothering me (which they were not).
There are very good, high-quality A/C wall units installed and they have 3 zones (master/2nd Bdrm/living room). They each have programmable remotes to set what you want. I am very focused on having Air conditioning available and I won’t rent a place that doesn’t have it. I personally like it cool and thus I used the master AC quite a bit (keeping the doors to the master closed so it could stay 72 degrees at night) and I kept the living room comfortable (in the 75-78 degree range to take the edge off of the humidity). I think it cost $106 for a week of A/C usage. $15/day to keep comfortable? That is a small price to pay to be comfortable on vacation, in my opinion. And you never know whether you’ll need it but good to have it there if you do. It was mid-upper 80’s most days I was there so worth having the AC. But as with many VRBO’s in Kauai, A/C usage is taken out of the deposit. No big deal, but just be aware that cost is there (and worth it!).
I would highly recommend the unit. It’s a great location, overlooking the water and right above Hideaway beach and easy walking distance to the St. Regis (one block).
I have no reservations recommending this unit wholeheartedly and Gary is great to work with.

The condo is meticulously kept and the views are awesome.We greatly enjoyed the solarium and the balcony. The top floor location provides privacy and great views. The condo also has beach equipment and floats for the swimming pool.
Gary is a great host! We were arriving in the wake of Hurricane Lane and Gary kept us up-to-date with the conditions even before our arrival and regularly checked in with us during our stay. Gary also waived the AC usage charges for our stay and we appreciate the gesture.
Do not miss out on the Hideaways beach and look up at the sky at night! We highly recommend Gary's place and we will try to be back. Mahalo!

Our family of four (18 year old boy-girl twins) had a wonderful vacation in Kauai, and we were very happy with this condo (Pu'u Po'a #402).
The condo is in a great location, right next to the St. Regis, and just above a great secluded white sand beach (Hideaways) with good snorkeling. It's a short steep trail with rope guides, that was easy for us, but could be a problem for seniors who aren't active. The condo is also walking distance to Queen's Bath, another must see attraction that we loved, with lots of turtles playing in the surf. The condo is within the Princeville Resort area. Just 1-2 miles from the condo is the Princeville Center, a small shopping center with a great supermarket (Foodlands) and restaurant (Piazza). Hanalei was our favorite market area on the island with lots of great restaurants (Bar Acuda was a favorite), and just 5-10 minutes away. Kilauea was just 5-10 minutes in the other direction, also worth checking out.
The condo looked just like the pictures. Very spacious, clean, comfortable beds, A/C (which we didn't have to use until the last days), fully equipped kitchen, two nice large bathrooms, washer/dryer, Weber grill, and fantastic views of the ocean. The pool was nice, and we met other guests there. There's also a nice tennis court. I play tennis and contacted the tennis pro at the Hanalei Bay Resort, which is also walking distance from the condo. She connected me with a few 3.5 doubles games.
The Na Poli Coast roads and trails were closed to visitors during our stay (not expected to reopen until October 2018?), but we took a great morning boat tour with Na Poli Coast Hanalei that I would highly recommend. The cliffs and caves were spectacular. We were lucky and saw a pod of dolphins swimming around our boat. Reservations were completely booked for the first four days, you might want to consider making a reservation before you go. We also loved hiking in the Waimea Canyon, a roughly 2 hour drive. We went on a popular (2 mile?) hike from a lookout point to a waterfall that had breathtaking views of the canyon.
Gary was a great host, providing a lot of information, and quickly responding to e-mails. The condo was a little more than I initially expected to spend, but well worth it. I would stay here again. You won't be disappointed.

The place is what it was portrayed as. Great location, fantastic view, owner was vey helpful and the condo had a book full of things from places where to eat and explore and everything in between. Being on the top floor was even better. I would definitely stay at this property again.

My wife and I (+ parents) just returned from a week in Kauai and Pu'u Poa 402 was everything that we were hoping it would be... and better!
First and foremost, the view from the condo is spectacular. Top (4th) floor is very quiet and there are unobstructed views out to the ocean. it was a treat to watch the suffers ride the waves while we ate breakfast on the lanai each morning, and then come back later to watch the sun set during happy hour. The view from inside the condo is just as amazing. Its pretty inspiring to wake up each morning and look out at the ocean without having to get out of bed.
The location of Pu'u Poa is great. The area around Princeville/St Regis is beautiful. The houses and grounds surrounding the golf course are all well kept and people were walking/ jogging the paths. My wife and I walked to the St Regis and hiked to the Queen's Bath. We hiked down to the beach below the condo and drove the short route to several beaches along the road to Haena for picnics. The terrain can be challenging. There are several restaurants nearby and the food market in Princeville had everything we needed to stock up the condo. Nearby Hanalei is a picturesque little surf-town with quaint shops and good restaurants and we spent some time there exploring the farmers market.
This condo has to be the nicest condo in Pu'u Poa and Gary has done an excellent job of furnishing and decorating it. The design is sleek and modern with floor to ceiling windows and beautiful wood/tile floors, but it is also very comfortable with soft floral prints and Hawaiian artwork. A/C was a big +. We peaked in a couple of the other condos. They were nice. Yeah, we paid a little more for 402 and it was worth it.
Its obvious that the owner Gary takes pride in his condo and helping his guests have a great stay on the island - and it shows. We received a nice welcome gift upon arrival and Gary was very accommodating with our travel schedule to help us get another activity in the day we left. Gary's communication was outstanding from beginning to end. He was very quick to respond to questions/inquiries and provided recommendations for places to see, places to eat, and things to do. We came with our own list of places we wanted to explore as well and compared that with Gary's, and found Gary's comments were spot on. We truly felt like guests (not customers) and that's what the Aloha spirit is supposed to be all about... Mahalo!. Looking forward to coming back soon.

We stayed at the Ekdahl's condo on the beautiful North Shore of Kauai. These are very comfortable condos with a great layout and expansive ocean view. The benefit of staying in unit 402 is that it's a top floor unit, which provides additional privacy, since the balconies are terraced. Also, there is A/C in both bedrooms and in the living room area, which can come in handy during the summer months. Fans throughout as well. There is plenty of available parking and a swimming pool on property. It's also just a few steps from the St. Regis Resort, and near the market in Princeville and the Town of Hanalei. There are no elevators, so keep in mind that you will have to carry up your luggage. However, it's well worth it!

It's a beautiful condo. Very warm and comfortable, decorated beautifully! It was great having a/c as an option for sleeping, and hot afternoons.
Gary goes over the top to make sure everything is perfect! The view couldn't be better.

This spacious, top-floor, clean, and private, two bedroom condo was a perfect spot for our family vacation, and we can imagine it would also be a great place for a romantic get-away. With the windows open we could hear the ocean in every room and the view was spectacular. Gary and his wife couldn't have been more accommodating. We hope to come back some day. Highly recommended.

Thank you Gary for having such a gorgeous condo available for our vacation. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the cultural yet elegant décor, the amenities provided and the massive layout. The condo is marvelous in every way. We could hear the ocean waves hitting the shore no matter what room we were in. I should mention the VIEW!!! AMAZING!!! Open ocean everywhere you look. I also witnessed schooling dolphins and whales splashing in the distance. (Bring binoculars). The deck is also very large and extremely private and has great patio furniture and a gas bbq (which we used on occasion). The property itself is more than quiet and not crowded at all. The pool is nice, and is heated. The only thing is that the concrete around the pool and the pool trim itself needs a bit of updating, but it really isn't a big deal. The tennis court is right next to the parking lot and is in great condition. Walking in the area is easy and relaxing. There is a path on the left of the pool that leads down to a secluded beach, however, the path is extremely steep and dangerous if it rains. My husband ventured down a couple of times and was able to navigate the path ok, but you really need to be in good physical condition to hike down then climb up. I should mention the path is short, just very steep. All in all, this condo would be my first choice should I come back to visit Kauai.
Gary (owner) is extremely hospitable and helpful in everyway possible. His attention to detail is excellent and his communication is prompt and thorough. I highly recommend this condo. The first word that came out of my mouth when I entered the condo was "WOW"!

FIVE FULL STARS! Gary and his wife have gone out of their way (and I mean WAY out of their way) to make their beautiful top-floor condo accommodating to its guests. Everything is labeled, and the spices are stocked. But it's not the spices that will knock your socks off. The view from the lanai is incredible and makes for a perfect perch to watch whale after whale...even from the kitchen! The condo complex is fairly quiet, but perfect for families. This condo sports a second bedroom with two separate beds (which we love for our two little boys). The pool is basic, yet serves its purpose as it is clean and not too exciting to leave behind to explore the beautiful area. The location is perfect, with a quick walk to the St. Regis for use of their beach (allowed) and their restaurants and bars. Hide-Away beach below the condo is one of the top beaches on the island and is teeming with turtles. Gary is very responsive to any issues that arise and keen on making sure his guests enjoy their stay. You can't go wrong here, plus the condo has great local art...just book it already!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to rent your condo for a week, we all had a great time and hope to do it again soon. The condo was well appointed with everything we could possibly need, all we had to do was head to the market and stock up on food and we were good to go.
The condo was a great place to come home to and relax after long days of sightseeing and activities, being able to fire up the grill and have a wonderful meal on the patio overlooking the beach was fantastic. We also really appreciated the air conditioning, we did not use it much but it did help us get a restful nights sleep on the very comfortable bed!
The beach in front of the property was great too and not a bad trek down the trail as long as you have two hands available so wearing a back pack was a must but well worth the effort.
For future renters, if you shop at Foodland just give them a phone number when checking out, no card required, and you will get the discounts.
I highly recommend this property and would not hesitate to rent it again in the future.

The property was absolutely perfect for our honeymoon! My wife wanted me to surprise her for our honeymoon and Gary's unit provided the most amazing accommodations! Overall, the unit is absolutely breathtaking with stunning views of the Pacific. And with the windows open, you can hear the crashing surf below the bluff! We could not have been more happy with the attention to detail in the unit and overall perfect blend of elegance and comfort. Gary and Anne have truly included all the amenities that one could ever need during a perfect honeymoon and/or vacation (literally, the condo was even stocked with sandwich bags, coolers, and ice packs to use for beach lunches)! My wife and I spent quite a bit of time hiking, relaxing on the beach, and exploring local cuisine at the many island restaurants. The island was amazing and we truly loved our honeymoon; at the end of the week, our only regret was that we had to leave the condo! We felt like honored guests in a luxurious home. If, as a traveler, you put high priority on the location, comfort, and quality of your lodgings, look no further. The location is in the primo part of Princeville, minutes from Hanalei Bay and a short drive to the End of the Road. The owners obviously spend a significant time here on a regular basis and we did, truly, feel like honored guests.
We were there in early May, 2013 and we never felt a need to turn on the A/C. The home has ceiling fans in every room and louvered windows, which permit the trade wins to circulate through the spacious home.
We didn't even mind hauling our luggage up two flights. But if you would be worried by that, I feel confident that the owner would arrange to have someone help you. The amply stocked kitchen and pristine Weber grill on the lanai were specially appreciated.
We highly recommend this property.

This is an amazing vacation home! It is even more beautiful than the photos. We loved our 2 1/2 week stay here. The views are spectacular, the interior very clean, well maintained and luxuriously comfortable. A walkable distance to the St. Regis Hotel (a beautiful sunset view + public beach access), the unit is located quite near the condo complex's private pool area. It is also close to the public accessible, very steep but navigable path to the gorgeous snorkel beach below. We are a moderately active couple, in our 50's and 60's and were able to make the trail walk. From the condo's lanai, we loved watching the surfers, sailboats, and spouting whales, then enjoyed the beautiful drive up to Hanalei, or went to snorkel or take walks at beach areas all around the island. We checked out the beautiful waterfalls, and Kauai's grand canyon, Waimea Canyon. There were so many special touches and extras, that it really felt like home. The bed was comfortable with great pillows. The two living spaces, each with a wall of windows, made every type of weather enjoyable. Wow, the fabulous gourmet kitchen had everything we could possibly need. And the incredible decorations with special touches made it very inviting. The large upgraded, nice sized bathroom areas were great, the guest bath had the washer and dryer. During this time of year we did not need the air conditioning, the ceiling fans throughout were enough, but we were happy it was there just in case. The location of this Condominium is perfect for the island. Eating at, or picking up fresh local seafood from the fish market at the delicious, but often busy Dolphin Restaurant in Hanalei and picking up groceries and shave ice at the Foodland market was convenient. There are lots of great restaurants nearby, too - we loved the Roy's Tavern at the Princeville golf course, and even Bubba Burgers now and then. There were beach chairs, umbrellas and towels, as well as backpacks, snorkel gear, ice chests and tennis equipment available in the unit. We would reccomend this vacation home to our friends, and can't wait to return. We have taken helicoptor tours in years past, so we didn't do that this time. We plan to try the standup paddle boards and ziplines next time. We miss the island's beautiful waterfalls, beaches, and spectacular greenery, but we will be back! Gary and Anne saw to all of the spcial details in the home, sent a nice island information packet and were so easy to work with. Aloha!

We just completed a 14 day stay at #402. This is our second time staying in this condo and we once again were beyond ecstatic. From the moment we entered, it felt like we were coming home. This condo is so special, words cannot describe it. It has such a "Casual Elegance" feeling, not your "generic" condo feel, everything from the furniture, art and art objects is PURE Class. It is rich with beautiful things and VERY comfortable furniture. We were able to tour 3 condo's in this complex as they were holding "Open Houses" we went and looked at everyone including a penthouse as this is one FINE complex, but NOTHING compared to unit 402. The view is OUTSTANDING, just beautiful ocean views from the laniai, from both the sunroom, bedroom and LR and Kitchen. Speaking of the kitchen it is an open floor plan and the kitchen is VERY HIGH END! You need not buy ANYTHING other than food to cook, as it has it all, beautiful granite counters, cherry cabinets, high end appliances and a Fab. A Great eat in bar. The kitchen is very large. The bathrooms are exceptional. Not all the units have updated their bathrooms, this unit is COMPLETELY updated in bathrooms as well as every other room. They had everything you need to go snorkel, boogie board,it was ALL there. The beds were so comfortable, we didn't want to leave. We didn't want to leave for MANY reasons. The Owner, Gary really does take the time to make sure your visit is worth every penny, letting you know where to eat, hike snorkel, beach swimming and all round tourist things to do. Our visit was from Dec 2-16 2012 and the weather was a tad weird, even the locals were complaining, but having such a stunning place to stay, the weather was not a problem, we had plenty of days sitting out on the lanai (which is fabulous), with me having a glass of wine or martini and some hor'dorveres and just reading and relaxing. We may change the time of year to come but we will NEVER change the place. You may pay a cheaper rate for condo on a lower floor, but you will not find it as well equipped as 402, not even close. There is nothing generic about this unit. Look no further as nothing will even come close We are already counting the days until we can come back to our favorite place and favorite condo! Oh and One more thing, SUNSETS, they are amazing from this condo, like I said PERFECTION!

This property was close to perfect - clean, well-maintained and it included every item you would need in your own home, including washer/dryer. Ideally located in North Shore Kauai and five minutes from quaint Hanalei, we would definitely recommend this condo and look forward to our return trip. We do recommend packing light, as there is no elevator and there are two sets of stairs. The surfers were especially entertaining as the waves were quite large.

This was our 2nd trip to Kauai and we were fortunate enough this trip to stay in unit 402. WOW...pretty much sums it up. The descriptions and photo's on this website are 100% accurate. This unit is beautiful from top to bottom and has every ammenity you will need. We spent a lot of time on the private balcony just staring at the AMAZING water views (these views you also have from the solarium, master bedroom, living room and kitchen). Gary provided lots of information (months before our arrival on Kauai) on things to do/see on the island, places to shop, eat, etc... I highly recommend the the boat trip along Na Pali Coast and the helicopter tour, if possible. Staying at Gary's home made our trip so much more enjoyable. It was a beautiful and comfortable place to end an incredible day and each morning the water views inspired us to plan a new day of adventures!! Hope to come back again soon.

Just home after 9 days in Paradise thanks to Gary's Unit #402 in Pu'u Po'a. Can't think of enough positive superlatives to describe the accommodations, the decor, the amenities, the view, etc, etc. All wonderful. We now know why Pu'u Po'a #402 has all positive ratings. Our family stayed September 12-21. We arrived at night and the condo was just beautiful. Everyone was thrilled. We sat out on the lanai for most of the night gazing at the stars. I have never seen so many stars. The next morning we were even more excited by the tremendous views, the ocean out front and the mountains out the back. The kitchen and bathroom make-overs were beautiful. We cooked most of our meals. The owners have thought of everything, from a well stocked kitchen, to a bbq grill on the lanai, to q-tips in the bathroom. I was a little nervous about the fact that most places in Kauai do not have A/C. I was condidering looking elsewhere. I was assured by Gary, the owner, that that was not a concern. He was correct. With ceiling fans in every room ( including the bathrooms ) and the sliding doors and windows open it was just perfect. Gary was a delight to work with. He sent travel brochures before our trip to help with our plans. He called to check-up on us during our stay, an added touch that was appreciated. Of course, we did not want to leave. It was truly paradise. Enjoy your stay!

Pu’u Po’a #402 was the perfect accommodations for our 12-day vacation. On the inside it had everything we needed. Quality cookware and appliances for dining in, plenty of towels, a washer/dryer handy for cleaning up our beach towels, beautifully tiled bathrooms, one with a 2-headed shower, internet access used to send emails with pictures of our vacation (rubbing it in to the folks back home), and lets not forget the blender, ideal for those pina-coladas. Moving outside the two private lanais with ocean views was unbeatable. Hideaways beach and Queens’s bath were the two locations we spent most of our days. Both are a short walk from the condo. We look forward to future stays.

We stayed at 402 in June with our two children. We had the best time. The condo is everything that you see and more. The kitchen is exquisite and completely stocked. We felt right at home. The view was breathtaking. We can't wait to go back next year.

We had very high expectations for Gary's condo after reading prior reviews, and were not disappointed. Every thing was top of the line, from the beautiful furnishings to the state-of-the-art kitchen to the phenomenal view. My wife and I enjoyed the third week of January at Gary's condo in Princeville and all I can say is we both wished we could have stayed there forever!
A week at Gary's condo is simply not enough time to enjoy this island paradise, and his top-floor unit has to be experienced to be believed!!!

My wife and I stayed in Gary's condo for part of our honeymoon and really enjoyed our time there. The condo itself is beautiful inside with an awesome kitchen and a wonderful view. It is also convenient to many activities on the North side of the island. We enjoyed many things about Princeville and nearby Hanalei. We highly recommend the 17 mile sea kayak trip along the Na Pali coast. Kauai was a lot of fun and Gary's condo was the nicest we had ever stayed in. We would definitely go back again.

Gary's condo at Princeville is luxury with a capital "L". The only thing that could possibly outrank it would be the incredible beauty that surrounds the property: ocean, mountains, palm trees, ahhh.
