Pu'a Poa 402 is the most beautiful place we've ever stayed. The condo is beautiful with everything available to make our stay perfect. The location was extremely quiet and peaceful. The view and private deck is a great place to sit, listen to the ocean and watch people surf. We actually miss being there but will be back. Thanks again Gary!

Very happy with our recent stay. It's a quick hike down to Hidden Beach, but the surf was rough and the coral close to shore, so not ideal for little kids if you bring any. Very convenient western edge of the Princeville development means you're only minutes away by car to Hanalai shops, restaurants and beaches.
Owner is very accommodating and provides a helpful info on restaurants, beaches, and places of interest. Would stay here again without hesitation.

We were so pleased to return to this wonderful condo for another stay. Our brother and sister-in-law, who were with us, were very impressed as well. This condo not only has beautiful views, but is impeccably maintained, very clean, and well stocked with all the basics and then some. There are so many thoughtful touches, including a welcome bottle of wine and macadamia nuts upon arrival! There are instructions for everything which are very clear and so helpful. The owner, Gary, is an excellent host and makes sure there is a clear way to contact his property manager, or even himself, if any need arises. You can’t really ask for a more beautiful place to stay, nor could you ask for a more gracious host! Truly, just wonderful! Thank you Gary for another fantastic stay!

Our stay was nothing short of amazing. We normally stay at a nearby resort when going to Kauai but found this gem of a condo and could not have been happier with our choice. This was a dream condo. It was spotless and very very well appointed with so many ammenities in the unit itself and the property in general. We could not have loved our stay more. The owner of the property takes great care of the condo to make sure guests have what they need and even has binders onsite to help with not only the check in/check out process but places to go eat and see. The beds were VERY comfortable and the in unit W/D was very clean and new. The kitchen supplies and appliances were also kept up to date and clean. If I could give 10 stars for the accomodations and communication I would. Guest and owner have responsibilities with that, but he makes it easy. THANK YOU.

What a great experience! This Pu’u Po’a unit is awesome. It has an amazing location and view. We enjoyed watching the ocean and the surfers! It is fully stocked with everything you could want or need - for cooking, living, relaxing and enjoying the property and beach amenities. The on-site pool has recently been renovated and is never too busy. I ca t thank the property owner more for his excellent communication, recommendations and consideration for our desire to have a wonderful vacation. I would (and plan to) recommend this unit to anyone who is looking for a relaxing getaway in Kauai with a spectacular view and location. We hope to be repeat renters!

Just returned from a wonderful, relaxing vacation at this great property -- and I look forward to returning in the future. The condo is in a great location (end of Princeville) and the top floor offers privacy and a spectacular view. The home is very comfortable (great bed that even my picky husband approved and comfortable couches) and is very well equipped with everything you could need (extensive spices/oils for cooking and lots of beach toys for playing). Gary is the most welcoming host we have come across -- he sent an in-depth package of information and wine/snacks welcome gift. His recommendations for hikes (don't miss the walk to the Stone Dam, which is flat and beautiful), activities and restaurants were great. Rain was only an issue on one morning -- and we simply drove south to Kapaa where the weather was fine. (Kapaa has a paved oceanfront trail -- rent bikes and stop for a Mai Tai at Jimmy's). North Shore is our favorite -- and this condo is 5+ stars!

The property owners love this property and want you to love it as well. I have never stayed in a Vrbo so well stocked. Everything is provided to make you stay as pleasant as possible. The patio view is a dream. Sunsets are unforgettable from the patio. Hideaways beach just off the property is a 10-15 hike down but a piece of heaven on earth. The property owner was super responsive. Yikes, I forgot my wedding ring and the owner arranged to fedex it back to me, which I reimbursed. Vacation saved! This was a dream family vacation and I could not recommend this property more highly.

It is hard to describe how wonderful this place is- the pictures give you an idea but it is just so amazing. The condo is beautiful. The location is amazing. Having the ocean view is enchanting, But the mountain view out the front is even more amazing. The condo is well supplied for every need. You'll really only need to bring some extra soap and shampoo (and maybe a few rolls of toilet paper for a long stay). The spice cabinet was complete. My husband loves to cook and the kitchen was filled with everything we needed. Gary is wonderful. You will LOVE this place. So glad we chose to celebrate our 25th anniversary there.

We stayed 6 nights. The condo was beautifully decorated, just enough Hawaiiana without the kitsch. The kitchen was probably the best I have seen in a vrbo rental, organized and fully equipped. The floorplan is very spacious and open, loved the flow. Spent as much time on the lanai as the rain would permit, stunning ocean view.

This is a fantastic property exactly as advertised. There is literally nothing negative to note. One item others have commented on, which is out of the owners control, there is construction going on in the building and next door. It only occurs during the day. It's only an issue if you plan to hang around the unit during daytime. Otherwise, it's a 10 out of 10

This beautiful condo is perfectly located on the north side of the island for those who are interested in hiking, snorkeling and kayaking, in particular. The property has everything needed for your comfort and enjoyment, including outdoor recreational equipment and a thoughtfully-equipped kitchen. There also are many resources in the condo to help you plan your days. If I were pressed to recommend any improvements, they would be only a beach umbrella or beach tent, and an umbrella on the lanai over the lounge chairs. The sun in Kauai is very intense!

An unrivaled view of the ocean and right in the heart of Princeville, this is one of the best spots in northern Kauai. Everything about this place made our trip truly special. The views are stunning and we saw whales playing in the water every evening before sunset. The sunroom was a great place to hang out when it was raining and still felt like we were outside. The back bedroom was comfortable and roomy. Both beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a good blender to make pina coladas! The only worthwhile heads up is that accessing Hideaway Beach was somewhat underplayed. While it is unbelievably spectacular and very secluded, to get there, you have to get down a very steep and sometimes muddy trail where you have to hold on to ropes to descend. If you’re older or not in good physical shape, you may have to take a pass. Two of the four of us (in their 60’s) thought it was too tenuous to attempt. Also, beware there’s quite a bit of renovation construction happening at Pu’u Poa, the resort property next store and on the north side of the island in general. It made for moderate, unwanted noise—no fault of the owner. Otherwise, this property (and it’s very conscientious owners) are everything you would hope for on a luxury Hawaiian vacation.

The pictures don’t lie. If anything, they don’t do this beautiful home justice. We especially liked the solarium. My wife and I would sit there every morning drinking ou coffee/tea and watch the surfers and whales offshore. The owner, Gary, was very responsive to our concerns (we had a cleaning snafu). He was likewise very upfront about things out of his control such as nearby construction. On that note, I would caution anyone staying anywhere at Puu Poa to be aware of the hotel property next door. They claim they’ll be reopened for “Spring 2022” but I am very doubtful of that. In the meantime you’ll have to put up with the noise starting at 7AM.

The condo and its owners were truly unbelievable. The condo had everything you would need and was everything you could ask for. My son's family stayed in another condo on the property and he commented that he could easily live full time in our condo. Gary and Anne's condo was just stunning! I loved all the art work in the condo and the view of the ocean is to die for. We had a hard time getting our kids to leave the condo to go out and do stuff it was almost to good here. Our whole family is absolutely in love with the hideaway beach below The condo! We went snorkeling almost everyday we were there. Some of us have bad allergies so we couldn't eat out very much however we were so happy to find out that Gary has every kitchen tool you could possibly need. We loved eating on the lanai watching the sunset and the gekos. Gary was an excellent host he really went out of his way to make sure we were having a great time. We came to Kauai to celebrate my husband's 50 the birthday and Gary had left him a birthday card with some macadamia nuts wine and a fancy new pen! He also gave us his mini golf tickets which sadly we could not use because the mini golf place was no longer accepting them due to issues with covid. We had the best time at Gary and Anne's place I really hope we can come back someday!

From the moment we walked into the condo and were greeted with a spectacular sunset over the Napali coast we knew we were in for a great week. Everything in the condo is as advertised; Gary is a great host that made sure we had all of our instructions for the condo well in advance of arrival. The kitchen is very well appointed, which made it easy to prepare a few gourmet meals with the fish we bought (and caught!). And what can be said about the location other than - wow!! It's a short drive into Hanalei where we caught a cruise of the Napali coast. The Queen's Bath is walking distance and highly recommended. Overall, getting around the island was very easy and Pu'u Po'a #402 gave us a great home base for all of our activities.

Gary and Anne have a beyond outstanding Princeville home, which was perfect for our friend group of 4. The condo has epic ocean and sunrise/set views from the balcony, is just steps away from the beach, and has every amenity you can think of from cookware, towels, snorkel gear and coolers! We spent lots of time at Hideaway Beach, which is a steep but doable climb down behind the pool; groceries were a quick less than 5 min drive away and we even were walking distance to Queens Baths. We can’t wait to visit again - thank you for all the quick and easy communication throughout our stay Gary!

This space was a dream. Would love to rent again and hope that happens soon! The small beach directly below property was a highlight. Loved the patio with bbq and chairs overlooking the ocean. All needed amenities were available and bonuses like sunscreen!
Covid restrictions at the county level made the process uncertain and ever changing, though necessary. That challenge should be in the past with recent April 5 changes. However, it made communication a bit challenging and certainly frustrating because no one knew exactly what was expected. After many hours of research we ended up having to book a “resort bubble” for 3 nights in addition to paying for this space. Only complaint is lack of flexibility to shift rental dates based on current covid restrictions (resulting in payment of two rentals for the same 3 nights) and also understand the difficult position property owners are in. Tough all around. At the end of the day, very worth it.

Gary is an amazing host that goes above and beyond for his guests. We were going to split our trip between Princeville and Hanalei, but a major landslide took out the road to Hanalei after we had already checked out. Gary and his team took care of us!

I have stayed at numerous vacation rentals over the years. Gary the owner of this gorgeous property is the most well organized, conscientious owner I have ever dealt with. The unit and location were perfect for our needs. The kitchen is well equipped for any cooking needs. We had planned on cooking a few meals there, but ended up going out for our lunches and dinners. There are many very good restaurants within a few minutes drive. Hideaway Beach sits directly beneath this unit and is worth the 5 or 10 minute climb to get there. Hopefully we will be back soon.

We absolutely loved this unit. We are a family of four (two teenage kids) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Gary is the most organized and diligent owner we have met through HomeAway. He gave us terrific information prior to our arrival and we found the unit in perfect condition. Everything worked properly and was as advertised. The location was great. We enjoyed great views from the lanai and it is very close to Hanalei and less than 30 minutes from Ke'e beach at the end of the road in the North Shore.

My wife and I (+ parents) just returned from a week in Kauai and Pu'u Poa 402 was everything that we were hoping it would be... and better!
First and foremost, the view from the condo is spectacular. Top (4th) floor is very quiet and there are unobstructed views out to the ocean. it was a treat to watch the suffers ride the waves while we ate breakfast on the lanai each morning, and then come back later to watch the sun set during happy hour. The view from inside the condo is just as amazing. Its pretty inspiring to wake up each morning and look out at the ocean without having to get out of bed.
The location of Pu'u Poa is great. The area around Princeville/St Regis is beautiful. The houses and grounds surrounding the golf course are all well kept and people were walking/ jogging the paths. My wife and I walked to the St Regis and hiked to the Queen's Bath. We hiked down to the beach below the condo and drove the short route to several beaches along the road to Haena for picnics. The terrain can be challenging. There are several restaurants nearby and the food market in Princeville had everything we needed to stock up the condo. Nearby Hanalei is a picturesque little surf-town with quaint shops and good restaurants and we spent some time there exploring the farmers market.
This condo has to be the nicest condo in Pu'u Poa and Gary has done an excellent job of furnishing and decorating it. The design is sleek and modern with floor to ceiling windows and beautiful wood/tile floors, but it is also very comfortable with soft floral prints and Hawaiian artwork. A/C was a big +. We peaked in a couple of the other condos. They were nice. Yeah, we paid a little more for 402 and it was worth it.
Its obvious that the owner Gary takes pride in his condo and helping his guests have a great stay on the island - and it shows. We received a nice welcome gift upon arrival and Gary was very accommodating with our travel schedule to help us get another activity in the day we left. Gary's communication was outstanding from beginning to end. He was very quick to respond to questions/inquiries and provided recommendations for places to see, places to eat, and things to do. We came with our own list of places we wanted to explore as well and compared that with Gary's, and found Gary's comments were spot on. We truly felt like guests (not customers) and that's what the Aloha spirit is supposed to be all about... Mahalo!. Looking forward to coming back soon.

We stayed at the Ekdahl's condo on the beautiful North Shore of Kauai. These are very comfortable condos with a great layout and expansive ocean view. The benefit of staying in unit 402 is that it's a top floor unit, which provides additional privacy, since the balconies are terraced. Also, there is A/C in both bedrooms and in the living room area, which can come in handy during the summer months. Fans throughout as well. There is plenty of available parking and a swimming pool on property. It's also just a few steps from the St. Regis Resort, and near the market in Princeville and the Town of Hanalei. There are no elevators, so keep in mind that you will have to carry up your luggage. However, it's well worth it!

It's a beautiful condo. Very warm and comfortable, decorated beautifully! It was great having a/c as an option for sleeping, and hot afternoons.

This spacious, top-floor, clean, and private, two bedroom condo was a perfect spot for our family vacation, and we can imagine it would also be a great place for a romantic get-away. Thank you Gary for having such a gorgeous condo available for our vacation. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the cultural yet elegant décor, the amenities provided and the massive layout. The condo is marvelous in every way. We could hear the ocean waves hitting the shore no matter what room we were in. I should mention the VIEW!!! AMAZING!!! Open ocean everywhere you look. I also witnessed schooling dolphins and whales splashing in the distance. (Bring binoculars). The deck is also very large and extremely private and has great patio furniture and a gas bbq (which we used on occasion). The property itself is more than quiet and not crowded at all. The pool is nice, and is heated. The only thing is that the concrete around the pool and the pool trim itself needs a bit of updating, but it really isn't a big deal. The tennis court is right next to the parking lot and is in great condition. Walking in the area is easy and relaxing. There is a path on the left of the pool that leads down to a secluded beach, however, the path is extremely steep and dangerous if it rains. My husband ventured down a couple of times and was able to navigate the path ok, but you really need to be in good physical condition to hike down then climb up. I should mention the path is short, just very steep. All in all, this condo would be my first choice should I come back to visit Kauai.
Gary (owner) is extremely hospitable and helpful in everyway possible. His attention to detail is excellent and his communication is prompt and thorough. I highly recommend this condo. The first word that came out of my mouth when I entered the condo was "WOW"!

FIVE FULL STARS! Gary and his wife have gone out of their way (and I mean WAY out of their way) to make their beautiful top-floor condo accommodating to its guests. Everything is labeled, and the spices are stocked. But it's not the spices that will knock your socks off. The view from the lanai is incredible and makes for a perfect perch to watch whale after whale...even from the kitchen! The condo complex is fairly quiet, but perfect for families. This condo sports a second bedroom with two separate beds (which we love for our two little boys). The pool is basic, yet serves its purpose as it is clean and not too exciting to leave behind to explore the beautiful area. The location is perfect, with a quick walk to the St. Regis for use of their beach (allowed) and their restaurants and bars. Hide-Away beach below the condo is one of the top beaches on the island and is teeming with turtles. Gary is very responsive to any issues that arise and keen on making sure his guests enjoy their stay. You can't go wrong here, plus the condo has great local art...just book it already!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to rent your condo for a week, we all had a great time and hope to do it again soon. The condo was well appointed with everything we could possibly need, all we had to do was head to the market and stock up on food and we were good to go.
The condo was a great place to come home to and relax after long days of sightseeing and activities, being able to fire up the grill and have a wonderful meal on the patio overlooking the beach was fantastic. We also really appreciated the air conditioning, we did not use it much but it did help us get a restful nights sleep on the very comfortable bed!
The beach in front of the property was great too and not a bad trek down the trail as long as you have two hands available so wearing a back pack was a must but well worth the effort.
For future renters, if you shop at Foodland just give them a phone number when checking out, no card required, and you will get the discounts.
I highly recommend this property and would not hesitate to rent it again in the future.

Just home after 9 days in Paradise thanks to Gary's Unit #402 in Pu'u Po'a. Can't think of enough positive superlatives to describe the accommodations, the decor, the amenities, the view, etc, etc. All wonderful. From the moment we walked in the front door, we felt pampered and so lucky to have discovered just the right place. Thank you, Gary. We'll be back--and isn't that the highest compliment of all!

My husband and I have had the pleasure of using this condo three times. It far exceeds any expectations. Every detail has been thought of. So close to the princeville resort, yet private. The last time we brought our children, who fit right in. We have since referred two family/friend members who have LOVED their stay as well. Beautiful place!

We now know why Pu'u Po'a #402 has all positive ratings. Our family stayed September 12-21. We arrived at night and the condo was just beautiful. Everyone was thrilled. We sat out on the lanai for most of the night gazing at the stars. I have never seen so many stars. The next morning we were even more excited by the tremendous views, the ocean out front and the mountains out the back. The kitchen and bathroom make-overs were beautiful. We cooked most of our meals. The owners have thought of everything, from a well stocked kitchen, to a bbq grill on the lanai, to q-tips in the bathroom. I was a little nervous about the fact that most places in Kauai do not have A/C. I was condidering looking elsewhere. I was assured by Gary, the owner, that that was not a concern. He was correct. With ceiling fans in every room ( including the bathrooms ) and the sliding doors and windows open it was just perfect. Gary was a delight to work with. He sent travel brochures before our trip to help with our plans. He called to check-up on us during our stay, an added touch that was appreciated. Of course, we did not want to leave. It was truly paradise. Enjoy your stay!

Pu’u Po’a #402 was the perfect accommodations for our 12-day vacation. On the inside it had everything we needed. Quality cookware and appliances for dining in, plenty of towels, a washer/dryer handy for cleaning up our beach towels, beautifully tiled bathrooms, one with a 2-headed shower, internet access used to send emails with pictures of our vacation (rubbing it in to the folks back home), and lets not forget the blender, ideal for those pina-coladas. Moving outside the two private lanais with ocean views was unbeatable. Hideaways beach and Queens’s bath were the two locations we spent most of our days. Both are a short walk from the condo. We look forward to future stays.

We stayed at 402 in June with our two children. We had the best time. The condo is everything that you see and more. The kitchen is exquisite and completely stocked. We felt right at home. The view was breathtaking. We can't wait to go back next year.

We had very high expectations for Gary's condo after reading prior reviews, and were not disappointed. Every thing was top of the line, from the beautiful furnishings to the state-of-the-art kitchen to the phenomenal view. Gary has thoughtfully considered every need to make his place a delight to stay in, and we cannot recommend it more highly.

My wife and I enjoyed the third week of January at Gary's condo in Princeville and all I can say is we both wished we could have stayed there forever!
A week at Gary's condo is simply not enough time to enjoy this island paradise, and his top-floor unit has to be experienced to be believed!!!
Simply stated, it was a pleasure renting from him....pictures do not do his property justice....and we will be back next year. If you have any questions please feel free to email me....

My wife and I stayed in Gary's condo for part of our honeymoon and really enjoyed our time there. The condo itself is beautiful inside with an awesome kitchen and a wonderful view. It is also convenient to many activities on the North side of the island. We enjoyed many things about Princeville and nearby Hanalei. We highly recommend the 17 mile sea kayak trip along the Na Pali coast. Kauai was a lot of fun and Gary's condo was the nicest we had ever stayed in. We would definitely go back again.

Gary's condo at Princeville is luxury with a capital "L". The only thing that could possibly outrank it would be the incredible beauty that surrounds the property: ocean, mountains, palm trees, ahhh.
