Chris is the best host we have ever experienced. His place has gorgeous views of both the mountains and the ocean. Everything you could need or want is provided. We only could stay for two nights (we were extending a week long trip by a few days) but we wished we had stayed at his place the entire trip. We didn't want to leave!

Worry meter very low pre-arrival thanks to extensive info on the residence and recommendations for activities and restaurants, the state of West Maui post August fires, not to mention a phone chat with Chris directly. The beds are so comfortable. The space and lanai are so spacious. We cooked our dinners every night but for two. Plenty of kitchen gear! (Could use another cutting board) The snorkeling off of Honua Kai is superb, the (3) hot tubs glorious, the pools clean and refreshing. Locals told us Honua Kai is the best on the beach but not too many know about it, so consider yourselves lucky to stay at this lovely condo/resort. No timeshare hawks in our building blessedly. Plenty of towels, bathroom and beach. Slice view of beach from lanai, and fabulous view of mountains from one bedroom. The living room transforms, thanks to blackout shades, into a third room, and the mattress on pullout couch is very comfortable along with the comforter and extra pillows. Best showers ever, and we travel A LOT. Tell me when to stop...The Burns's condo is absolutely perfect for the best family vacation you could ever imagine. Thank you for making my son's surprise 30th birthday in Maui so very special.

The Honua Kai resort host was not going to refund our money for the room we reserved.
He was only going to refund half of our money.
We could not afford to lose this money. We went on our trip and tried to make the best of it.
We were wanting to stay on the east side of the island but needed the refund of this reservation at Honua Kai to do so. We were respectful and stayed in our room so as not to disturb the quests.
Disappointed we were not offered a full refund.

Love the Honua Kai and Chris was a fantastic host! He had so many recommendations and checked it to see if we needed anything. We loved sitting on the huge lanai and the beach in front of the property is exceptional. Add in Duke’s and it’s the perfect getaway. Why would anyone choose to stay anywhere else? Thanks Chris!!

Honua Kai is a gorgeous resort! It is quieter than many of the resorts we have stayed at before in Maui. We have been to Maui 8-10 times and this was by far our favorite place to stay! The pools are incredible! There are multiple pools and hot tubs, a shallow pool and water play area for the littles, a lazy river, and even an adults only pool. This unit had a beautiful view, was clean, fully stocked, and very comfortable. They had everything we needed and the beach closet was fully stocked with everything you could think of for water fun! Chris was very friendly, professional, and responded quickly. We wish we would have booked a longer stay! We will definitely be coming back for longer next time.

Great location. Beautiful views. My only complaint was that the listing did not say I would be charged extra for using a credit card for payment. It was my only option to pay. It didn’t feel right to be charged extra for payment. Issues we had during our stay were addressed.

Everything was great!! We had everything we needed. Home was clean and well equipped. The beds, including the sofa bed were extremely comfortable. Some on the best views from the balcony and was quiet. Kids loved the pool, and especially the water slide. The beach area was great and not too crowded. Perfect location! Chris’ place offered everything needed to take down to the beach. The kids enjoyed having the boggie boards, turtles swam right near the beach, which was so cool! We would definitely stay at this property again and would pick Chris’ condo again! We had a question when we arrived and contacted Chris and he was great to work with!

The property is really nice. Some areas need maintenance, pool tiles missing etc but overall the property is very nice. Our room had a huge patio with views on both sides. Condo had all the beach “stuff” a family could want incl chairs, cooler, snorkel gear. Would absolutely stay here again

For our Hawaiian vacation we were looking for a memorable experience. A place to stay with a great view and facilities was a must. Staying here met and exceeded our expectations. The condo was beautiful with all the amenities and an amazing view. We received fantastic recommendations for local activities from the owner. Truly helped us experience Maui and made it feel like home. Check in was a bit of a process but the staff on site was flawless in accommodating us and making sure everything continued without a hitch. We highly recommend this listing and thank you again!

This was our first trip to Maui and definitely not our last! The condo was absolutely beautiful with a luxurious amount of space and picturesque views of the mountains and waters. The amenities were perfect - we cooked meals and ate on the lanai for breakfast and dinner almost everyday. The beach closet was well stocked - Our kids loved the pools and we loved snorkelling on the coral reef on the beach right in front of the building. We can’t wait to return!

We had a wonderful time with our family of 6 at Honua Kai. The condo was clean, had beautiful views, large balcony, very close walk to beach and pools, easy check in and out, and very easy to communicate with the property manager. There were detailed instructions provided from airport too.
The place was well stocked with beach supplies and it was very helpful that there was a wagon to haul it all down. We have 4 young kids and really appreciated having a pack n play and booster seat available.
We loved getting a coffee in the lobby in the mornings and would head straight to the beach followed by a big pool session.
We loved our time there and would definitely come back. 😊

This is a great 2br option if you are looking to stay at the Honua Kai. The views from the lanai were nice. The suite is spacious and well-outfitted. The host was communicative and professional to deal with and the check-in process was very smooth.

What you see in the photos is what you get--it's a 2BR luxury condo. There's a sliver of ocean view with plenty of mountains. Access is easy with a keypad on the door. There's plenty of beach gear and board games in the closet. We left a card game and some pool noodles to add to the collection. The only downside, in our opinion, is that the unit is starting to show its age. The master BR mattress, in particular, could use a refresh. However, that's not enough to take any stars off the review. Property manager communication was good. Recommended.

The condo is everything you think it is, and more! Beautiful, open layout. The lanai (balcony) is large and breathtaking. Breakfasts on the balcony were a great start to our days. Fully stocked, clean, comfortable. Chris was very helpful and responded quickly to all of our questions. The pools were perfect for our 4 year old, and walking right out to the beach was so convenient and lovely. The only complaint is that we didn't book our vacation for more days! Everyone should stay here!

My family enjoyed our stay here. The property is located in a beautiful condo resort community with plenty of activities for all ages. The water slide and pools were family friendly, and the beach is a short walking distance. There were food trucks down the street and even a Duke's restaurant on the resort. The condo itself, had a closet full of gameboards, beach gear, and the kitchen was stocked with ingredients, pots, and pans, all of which made our stay and experience even better. Plenty of activities, ammenities, and things for a family to do and enjoy their stay at this resort.
Our stay was great because the property manger made it possible. Chris provided excellent service. He kept us informed and prepared us for our trip through regular communication. Because our trip was to celebrate two milestone birthdays, I made a request to add a special touch (balloons, banner, flowers, and champagne) at the entryway, so that it would be a little surprise when we entered. Chris definitely delivered! My family was quite pleased when we opened the front door for the first time. Chris set the tone for a great stay and we couldn't be any happier! I recommend staying here!

As this was our first time in Maui and first time user of VRBO, we were not sure what to expect from the accommodations. It was fantastic. We loved staying here! You get all the cool features of a resort—which was itself fantastic—but the convenience of your own apartment. The kitchen had all of the cookware and extras that we needed. If you are looking for a condo stay that has all the resort amenities this is it! walking distance to beach. Multiple pools and BBQ facilities. Convenience shop downstairs and lanai with a sea view to enjoy morning coffee. The unit is very clean and stocked with all essentials including spices, shampoo, and soap. Beach supplies including boogie boards, snorkel gear, cooler, beach chairs, and wagon all available in unit. Chris is easily accessible and the check-in process could not be smoother. When we went to the pool was not crowded and there was ample parking no matter how late you came home. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a place to call home in Lahaina.

We spent three nights at this beautiful condo. The owner as well as the facility was amazing! They had everything you needed to accommodate a relaxing and enjoyable time. My kids enjoyed watching older movies on the DVD player and playing board games that were provided. The view and sunsets on the spectacular lanai was one of our favorite things to do in the evening. I would highly recommend staying here. We can’t wait to return!

The condo was perfect, with a HUGE terrace/lanai; great for seeing both the mountains (and rainbows in the afternoon and the ocean. The resort had a lot of pool options and the underground garage super convenient. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Absolutely breathtaking! The condo is in the perfect location and absolutely beautiful! The staff was friendly and helpful and Chris was wonderful! The beach is just steps away with perfect sand on shore and rocks and coral for snorkeling. We saw a sea turtle our very first day feeding on the sea urchins in the rocks. You may want to wear sandals, water shoes or snorkel gear to protect your feet here, but just down the beach to the south, the rocks disappear if you prefer pure sand. Absolutely stunning!

The 2-bedroom condo was perfect for our family of 4. The pictures underestimate the amazing views from the terrace. The beach closet had the best beach cart and chairs, which made walks down the boardwalk to find premier snorkel spots a breeze. Rent snorkel gear through Snorkel Bobs and enjoy breakfast at nearby Slappy Cakes. The pools, grounds, location, and overall experience were amazing.

We traveled to Maui to celebrate an Anniversary and Vow Renewal. This condo worked out very well for us with the 2 bedroom/2 bath, washer/dryer and kitchen. The balcony was really nice as well. The overall resort has a great pool (there are a total of 3 but we never made it past the first one) and Duke's restaurant is great (we ate there ate least 3 times) but I wish there had been a few more food options close.

Very nice sized, clean unit with nice porch (lanai) and all of the amenities one would need, including a well equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, etc... The swimming pools are great for young kids and the beach is great for a swim and sunsets (though there are some sharp rocks in the water, so be careful with your feet). We enjoyed dining and drinks at Dukes and there is a good grocery store less than a mile away.

We spent 10 days on Maui after three cancelled trips over the past two years due to the pandemic and fact that my wife and I are both healthcare workers , so this vacation was HIGHLY anticipated for our family. It was also one of our daughter's birthday while we were there over Christmas thru the New Year.
Chris, as clearly communicated in other reviews, was extremely helpful and accessible for any of our questions. Thank you, Chris!
It was obviously a very busy week for travel in Hawaii, but the property/grounds weren't too overpopulated with people. It's very nice to have Duke's right on the property for food and drinks. Our kids LOVED all of the pools and direct access to the ocean.
The unit itself was exactly what others have said: very clean, well stocked with dinnerware, glassware, cookware and utensils, pool and beach equipment. My wife and I spent almost every morning sitting on the huge lanai drinking coffee as the sun was coming up (before our kids got up)... welcomed, calm, almost meditative therapy every day. So, it was very hard to come back to snow and -20 F temps.
We would definitely stay at this property again!

The only complaint I have is that the condo was pretty dirty in places. Table and chairs not wiped down and other furniture just felt a bit worn. Plus side comfy beds and sheets and so great to open nano doors and feel Hawaiian breeze. Also a plus to have Dukes beach service at pool. Thank you!

My family of four had an absolutely wonderful stay at this property. The two large bathrooms and the extra large patio made all the difference. Check in and out was very easy.
