We stayed at this same Condo in 2022, it’s a comfortable place but it does need some TLC deep clean update. Some of the grouting in the bathrooms needs cleaning or redone and some updated painting. We really enjoyed our stay at the Maui Sunset in Kihei. It was centrally located, a fabulous outdoor patio with a view of the ocean and pool. The bed, shower and kitchen were good too.
The only small thing was checking in. We got there at 10:30pm. We called security to get they key. His records showed there was a lockbox to get in. There wasn’t. We got in, it just took longer than it needed to.

Hello/ Aloha,
This was my first visit to Maui. The check in instructions were pretty clear. Checked in late and there was security who helped with the check-in. The unit was clean and stocked well. The location was ideal closer to stores and was an easy commute to the places / tours of interest. There was hardly any noise from neighboring rooms. Hardly a 2 minute walk to the beach. The rooms were well lit and furnished. I was able to reach the property agent easily for any questions.
Overall I had a pleasant stay. The only thing I found difficult was the door. It was pretty heavy to open for a person like me who is of small stature. I wouldn’t consider that a con, coz everything else trumps that aspect.
Would highly recommend this unit. Also note I did not see a single roach during my stay which was my biggest fear while booking rental property in Hawaii.

Condo was very clean, had everything we needed for our vacation, especially since we didn’t want to spend every day eating out. We were able to make home cooked meals, wash our laundry and were right in front of a beautiful beach with along with a beautiful courtyard equipped with barbecue stations.

The property manager was awesome with handling the service dog situation. The Board is not aware of equal access and ADA Law, however Jason (property) manager assisted us with such professionalism.
Security had issues, however that seemed to have been a communication breakdown. The security guard was somewhat over the top with trying to enforce the “no dog policy”. He could have just called his supervisor, but was rude with questioning us.
We realize not many people bring their service dog to Hawaii so we hope we educated people about the ADA and Equal Access for people with disabilities.

We were worried the rest of the trip that the room might have bugs, but it turned out that right next-door they were rebuilding the wall the following day and I think that was where they came from. We never had any other problem, as far as bugs the rest of the time. Our weather was mild so the few times we did use the AC in the living room it didn’t really do much, but the fan was fine since it wasn’t that hot. Overall this room was very nice. It was right in front of the elevator, which was convenient and only noisy times in the morning. All the amenities were nice; ie: two bathrooms, and every kitchen appliance you can imagine, foil, barbecue tools, literally everything except food. And Safeway was very close. Pool was beautiful and even though the beach is small and not really blue on this side of the island, you can still walk down into the water. The area was great and pretty centrally located. We had a wonderful experience. The food trucks for lunch were open. Listen half a block away with wonderful food. And we happened to be there on the fourth Friday and just a block away they have an entire evening swap meet. It was so fun. Also, we tried shaved ice at about 10 different places, and the best one happen to be the closest one to our hotel. It was “Peace Love shaved ice”.

The grounds were very pretty and so well kept. The unit was clean. The front door needs some work, it was hard to open and seemed to stick. The shelves in bedroom by the sink were very nice to have. There were beach towels and beach chairs which I really enjoyed using. A cooler would of been nice since there are no longer styrofoam coolers allowed on the island. I really enjoyed my stay and the unit was just as it said and all of my questions were answered quickly and I hope to return. I will add more days next time. Thank you for a wonderful time. So nice to have the full kitchen with all the pots and pans and dishes needed. :)

Check in process was super easy. The place was clean with plenty of starter amenities. Cable tv was clutch for hanging out with baby. Breakfast on the balcony was super pleasant. The grounds were lovely. Pool and hot tub was nice.

I was very happy with the room itself. Very well maintained and had everything we needed. The location of the room was across from the elevator so we heard beeping all day from the elevator users and I don’t know if it’s always windy but the hallway outside our room was a total wind tunnel. The bottom floor was too- hold on to your hats and sunglasses!! I wish I would have done more research because the location of these condos is right in the middle of a brown water zone. Not a place to swim with kids. There is also a park and it’s a place that people bring their dogs to play so lots of dogs and barking and watch out for poop when walking to and from the beach. A little disappointing when you are hoping to get away from it all. They were also doing maintenance/work just outside the condos on the street and hit a water main which left us without water in total for about 24hrs. There was no communication that there was anything going on so when we found we had no water after coming back from being out on adventures and needed showers I had to scramble to get information on if the water was predicted to come back or if we needed to relocate. It was a little stressful since the after hours emergency person didn’t answer for the first 30 mins of me trying to call. I emailed the property management, sent a text through the VRBO app and tried talking to other people but no one knew what was going on. I finally got hold of the after hours person and she was very nice. She got me information and we decided to go out for dessert so we could use the bathroom and wash our hands. We bought extra water just in case and by the time we got back the water was back on. Then the next morning it was off again. The property manager did get back to me that next day and said it was being worked on. Already knew that. I wish we had been given better communication and maybe an option to moving to a different location if this was going to continue. Luckily

The Maui Sunset condo was the perfect centralized location for our trip.
The condo grounds were very clean, well maintained, and had great views of the beach, sunset, and turtles. The beach itself was a little too rocky to go swimming there directly, but nice for walks and turtle spotting. Pool was clean and never too busy. The grounds were beautifully green and it was nice that the bbqs and tennis courts were there.
The room itself was slightly dated, as others mentioned, but mostly clean. The hall bathroom did have small ants, but that seems typical of the tropics. Kitchen was well stocked and the lanai was big and great for eating outside. The bedroom isn’t great in that it’s right next to the elevator so you can hear all the comings and going’s. The bedroom window faces that elevator too so you have to keep the curtains closed for privacy and therefore there is zero daylight in that room. Thankfully the complex isn’t crazy busy, and we rarely spent time in the room except to sleep. The bed is very comfortable though.
The location of the condo was well situated. It’s on the north end of Kihei, so easy to get on the highway going to Lahaina, but also very close to town for eating, shopping, etc.
Staff at the condo were very friendly and helpful. We came in after hours, and couldn’t find the front desk (that should be made more clear in the check-in instructions as you’re parking in lot A, but the check-in desk is in lot B). I called the number for security and immediately was taken care of by Joe, who was wonderful.
Overall, would definitely recommend and would return for our next trip.

The sunset view from the den and balcony was absolutely beautiful. The condo itself needed updating but was very clean. The AC wasn’t great with a window unit in den and bedroom. Amazing place with so many fun things to do. Clean and well kept! Our only issue was with the check-in process. We were told to go to a certain place and use the phone there to call security to meet us with our keys. The phone there didn't work, but there was a paper with a phone number to call and someone did answer that. The security guard came and gave us keys with our unit labeled on them, but they did not open our unit. We called him back and he came to the unit and gave us a different key. A coded entry would make it a smoother process, but other than that one thing, our stay was perfect. Great location, plenty of parking, and more amenities than we could use. The pool and hottub were great!

Arrived on a Friday evening after hours so office was closed, but security manager on duty was very friendly and helpful. Grounds and pool area were well maintained, and it was nice to have gas grills available for community use. One complaint I have about the unit I rented was that the doorknob was a bit loose and the lock was difficult to unlock with the key so entry was sometimes a challenge; plus the door was difficult to budge after unlocking the door (though I understand moist air from being near the ocean probably causes that). Otherwise the accommodations were clean, and space was more than sufficient for me as a solo traveler.

Rentals maui just straight up lies about the rentals and VRBO will go out of their way to make sure to NOT help you. You as customer don't matter to VRBO and rentalsmaui knows that, thus they also don't care about it.
Our room smelled horrendous, towels were dirty and smelly. Property was in a very bad shape, do yourself a favor and don't stay here or any of rentalsmaui properties. Also avoid VRBO, as they don't respect your safety and confort.

Unfortunately, the furniture was worn out, especially the fabric of the couch and chairs got me a bit concerned about hygiene at first, but we had no hygiene-related health issues (just to be clear).
Everything else was perfect! Very well equipped amenities: the detergents for the dishwasher, the laundry machine, coffee machine filters, 4 sets of nice thick towels, soaps, all kitchen equipment, fridge with auto-ice-maker, and an alarm clock on both sides of the bed.
The lanai was spacious, and there was enough distance from the opposing building, we had enough privacy to eat breakfast on the lanai. The property is usually very quiet.
Very practical for people traveling without a car, as the bus stop is right outside the building. We took the bus and went to Kaanapali, Lahaina, and Paia by bus.

This is an older building, but the apartment really had everything we needed. The kitchen is minimally stocked, but who is cooking dinner in paradise? It was fine for simple breakfasts. Very nice grounds and perfect sunset views, and easy parking. The beach wasn't great for swimming while we were there but that could have just been timing. The bedding did leave a little to be desired- the mattress cover was lumpy and shredding into pieces under the sheet.

Maui Sunset is a beautiful, well maintained property with many amenities. We found A407 to be well equipped and clean. The furniture was comfortable and the condo itself was roomy. There was beach accessories (chairs, umbrella, towels,etc) in the closet. I was initially concerned about the proximity to the elevator but found that the complex is very quiet after sunset so this was not a problem. The decor in A407 may be a bit dated but we didn’t visit Maui to look at 4 walls. We utilized the community grills for cooking and were impressed at how well the property maintains them.
We would be more than happy to rent this condo again.

It was an overall nice place. The living room area was nice. Nice couch. Nice tile. Nice TV. Convenient. The grounds were beautiful. Close to the beach and shops. The only thing that was not good were the linens, they were stained in multiples places. Even if they were cleaned, it would have been nice to have ones without stains. We rewashed them to make sure. The pillows were yellowish too, but we were able to find pillows in the closet that were white. It was just a big inconvenience because we wanted to rest, but instead ended up washing them. Washer and dryer included in unit which was nice. There is a rug at the front door that is green, but it looked brownish due to dirt. The night lamps by the bed were also pretty dusty and looked old. I guess our advice is to just maybe update the linens, that rug, and the night lamps to.

We have been coming to the Maui Sunset for years and love it! A407 had everything we needed to have a great vacation. It could probably use an update, but that doesn’t matter to us. Awesome lanai, spacious room, and the pool/shuffleboard area is top notch! A great value.

We stood in Kihei for wedding @ Gannon’s in Wailea & this was the perfect Condo for friends & family as only 15 minutes away! Grounds were so beautiful & the Condo had an amazing view!

While we didn’t spend much time at the condo, it was so nice to come back to and be able to relax after long days. It was the perfect size for the three of us.

Good location, near shopping and restaurants. The amenties were great, good size pool, lounge area and plenty of BBQ grills to utilize. Beach was on property which made a great morning or evening walk. Overall, the property itself is a little dated, but your in Maui, who cares!! We'd definitely stay here again. Mahalo
