The views at this condo were unbeatable! Definitely less hospitable/comfortable than some other options (uncomfortable furniture, limited kitchen, poor wifi & no tv), but the location and facility are great. The pool area was lovely and had gas grills that were convenient for evening meals. The coffee shop onsite was great as well. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for renovations which we weren't aware of. The town isn't too far but definitely a 15 minute drive to any restaurant or groceries! This resort is way closer to the trailhead and tunnels beach than the main Princeville area which was great for the activities we were interested in.

Cool spot on the north side! Feels like the end of the earth. Not super convenient if you are wanting to eat out every meal, but it was great for us. We grilled at the nice new pool/hot tub/grilling area and that was perfect. Beds were comfy. Home is kind of like a cabin vs. being super bougie but it had everything we needed and worked well!

This was the last part of our trip of five weeks in Hawaii. We started on Oahu and ended up at Kauai. traveled with three of my friends rented a wonderful convertible, soft top Jeep, which was great to explore. The weather does change quite quickly there. It was beautiful, warm and falling asleep to the ocean. There’s nothing better looking forward to spending more days in the future here. We enjoyed cooking in the house and the back deck listening to the ocean was priceless. Easy to get to and everything that we needed.

The unit was really just feet from the ocean. The unit was as promised, lots of space to spread out , there were only two of us but there would be lots of room for four. The bed was comfy and the ocean breeze cooled us off in the evening. The kitchen was big. We didn't use any of the resort facilities like the pool. There was a beach chair and umbrella and cooler of for use. It was very breezy when we were the end of May so we weren't able to sit on the deck as much as we had hoped. If you have a reservation on the shuttle that takes you to the state park they will pick you up at the resort and that was great especially at the end of the day.he We didn't have a great experience at the onsite restaurant, maybe just a bad night for them. Only issue was the property manager not responding in a timely to our concern of the smoke detector randomly beeping one evening which lead to the battery dying a few days later and the smoke detector blaring while we were out. I felt bad for the people around us cause it was very loud!

Imagine the sound of the waves just outside your window and constant trade winds blowing. A rustic beach almost all to yourself, quiet neighbors (there’s a 10pm quiet code), beautiful pool, delicious restaurant, cute coffee/gift shop, and above all an open, airy condo simply, but comfortably appointed. If there’s a downside, it’s the driving distance to attractions, but being almost at the end of the line—there are seven one-lane bridges between the condo and the nearest town!—truly allows one to unplug, breathe, and relax. A plus to the owner for quickly responding to our inquiries prior to and during our stay. Definitely recommend!

Hanalei Colony Resort is like a step back in time. Its not fancy but all you need. The location cant be beat and we love the lush scenery and old Hawaii vibe of Hanalei. Sounds of the ocean as you sleep and a touch of tropical rain almost every day. Restaurant on site is worn but food was good and service great! Get the poke nachos! Best Mai Tai on the island!

Our stay got off to a rough start because the cleaners had not come after the previous guests left. It was Easter Sunday and on one was available to come. Luckily, the rental company had an available unit for us to spend the night in. The cleaning delay meant that we were not able to get into our unit until late morning the next day when we could finally unpack and begin our holiday. The unit is well lived in but clean and well located. The overall property is very north shore; beautiful and relaxed. The bbq / pool area is great. Overall very happy with our stay.

The condo was lacking in adequate kitchenware, dishes and basic condiments (No salt or pepper shaker). The extra blankets requested were moldy and were not used. After several calls and promises, nothing was remedied. The manager eventually paid us 500 but this did not make up for the inconvenience. We would not return to this site.

If you're looking for the end of the road, this is it! We loved the location even though driving to other locations on the island were sometimes a bit time-consuming. Plenty of sun here throughout our week-long stay. Great location near the beach. Not very swimmable, but loved falling to sleep listening to the waves and watching the sunrise every day. Plenty of other beaches nearby also. The unit was very comfortable, but could use an update or two. Would definitely go back!

Our initial impression when we arrived was not great. The woman who checked us in was pleasant until she found out what unit we were staying in and that we booked it through VRBO and not the actual property. She was very short and rude. We also were not able to take advantage of the shuttle on property because we booked through VRBO. Over all this did not affect our visit but the owners should be aware of the "vibe" guests get when arriving. We stayed at the property with our 2 teenagers. The location was amazing. The unit was definitely in need of some TLC and upgrades. The bbq and pool area was very nice and new.

This was the perfect place to have our honeymoon. The location was so relaxing and farther out than any of the resorts. We enjoyed the quiet and the peace of a nearly vacant beach to great us each morning. It felt like our own little slice of paradise. If you want to be in the thick of tourist land and busy south shore this is not for you but if you enjoy the quiet and beautiful island experience and plan your excursions wisely this is perfect. The ocean was beautiful with plenty of beach to make you feel at ease and on vacation. The pool was private and beautifully maintained. Couldn’t recommend it higher for likeminded honeymooners to enjoy the north shore and the wonderful hanalei bay. The room had everything we needed. Our only issue was that the pillows likely need to be replaced. Other than that, we were more than happy and loved our stay.

If you want an out of the way place to stay with beaqutiful scenery, then this is the place. Staying on the north side of the island gives you beautiful scenery but remember that most places you go there is a drive on curvey and narrow roads but we enjoyed that part. GPS says 37 min. to the airport. Forget that? About and hr and a half to be safe. The small towns are fun and friendly, the island is gorgeous and we would go again. Best food we had was at the restaurant at the condo. Condos are older but nice and arranged so that you almost feel you are there alone. It worked perfect for us as we enjoyed driving the island and seeing the sights.

Property was right on the water, close to our favorite north shore beaches for swimming, exploring and snorkeling. Very remote and quiet but for the sound of crashing waves. New pool pavillion/BBQ center is nice. Shuttle to north shore sites is an added bonus given parking can be limited. We were cozy in this clean and unit! Being able to go back and forth easily to Tunnels was amazing!

We absolutely loved our stay. The view was spectacular, location perfect for getting away from it all, pool/hot tub perfect after a long day of hiking. Drew, Darci and coffee shop ladies were welcoming, kind and just lovely. Our only complaint is the check-in process. I didn’t access all the information from VRBO for check-in which was my fault, but the woman who checked us in was rude, misleading RE amenities available to us and really unwelcoming. She should be the last person in customer service business. If you eliminate her, our stay was 5 out of 5! We’ll b back!

Beautiful unit on ground floor, stunning location (we thought it one of the best on the property) with gorgeous view and the constant roar of the ocean. Truly a remote, quiet and relaxing location away from the bustle of the city. We loved the unplugged feel (no tv! but wifi worked great if you can't completely unplug... ;), no air-con but plenty of ocean breeze. We cooked our own meals (local fish on the shared bbq by the pool!) to take advantage of the porch and views, so didn't eat in the on-site restaurant, but did enjoy the convenient coffee stand. Property management was great to work with and we are already planning when we can return. If you're looking for a quiet getaway surrounded by nature and scenery, this is the place.

We thoroughly loved and enjoyed our short stay at Hanalei Colony Resort. We were just feet from the beach, loved soaking up the great views from our lanai, and enjoyed the simple amenities of the condo. The grounds keeping was very good and there was beautiful landscaping. No fancy frills, just basic amenities to help you unplug.

This place was amazing. If there is a rental closer to the beach on Kauai, I'd like to see it. It was 25 yards from the Lanai to the beach, and this rental is away from all the traffic and crowds. It is on the North Shore just minutes from the end of the road where the Napali Coast begins.

We got to property and found that a handful of these condos are not associated with resort. Resort intake folks were not hostile but close. The unit itself was in incredible disrepair. Things broken. Paint and wallpaper peeling. Bath room fan sounded like an airplane. No simple amenities 3 coffee filters for a 7 day stay. Towels were not usable because of stains. Towels were replaced but I had to spend vacation time calling. This property is NOT I REPEAT NOT worth the money!!! We saved for this trip. However we do travel some. I’ve never been more disappointed. We did not realize that a bridge would be closed so we could not make our flight if we stay at this property the last night. The property manager did refund some money so we could stay elsewhere. Again my vacation time was used for this communication. They were unwilling to refund for the disrepair and shabbiness. We were very disappointed!!!!!

My husband, two teen daughters and I loved our stay here and would definitely come back again. The layout is perfect in that it feels open with the best ocean views, yet teens and adults each had own space. We found it super relaxing here and watched the sunrise each morning. Ate dinner in the restaurant on site every night, and blended coffee drinks every afternoon. Got a few staples at the Wainiha Market on the way to the Resort. The breeze coming through the unit kept us cool enough. Management was very responsive. There was noise from above on the last night - a young family arrived that day. The ocean is beautiful to look out at, but you'll want to go to other beaches for swimming.

This is a small, quiet resort with only about 40 units in ten two story buildings. The view is just as seen in the online picture! I don’t think you can find a better view and close beach access anywhere else on the north shore! The beach access was literally 15 feet from the lanai! The plantings are nice, and the pool area with a hot tub is quite lovely. The unit itself had adequate space for two adults (4 adults might be a bit tight). The living room area was nicely decorated and had comfortable furniture. The bed was very comfortable and had good linens and pillows. The kitchen had ample utensils for cooking. The bathrooms are very basic, and the tub/shower had rust on the metal sliding doors and mold in the chalking: certainly not a make or break point but needs to be taken care of. We let the rental agency know about it, and they said they’d take care of it for future guests. Unfortunately, the restaurant on-site was not very good, but charming Hanalei is a ten minute ride away! Although the unit is a bit rundown, our overall experience was quite positive, and we would return!

It's as simple as they've let this unit get run down and the pictures do not convey how bad things are. I've never been in a VBRO situation like this and am sadly wanting to make sure no one else is either. The view in the photos will sell you, but 1) you cannot use the beach because of the currents 2) the condition of the unit is beyond deplorable ... for example, black mold in the the bathroom shower, weird green growth on all of the silver towel racks in the bathroom(s), every single lamp is beyond rusted and dusty, the rug has disgusting stains, the master bed is sunk in the middle, the wood slats for the windows are covered in aged wood/dust and don't work, the wooden dividers throughout the unit and dirty beyond imagination and they don't work well at all, the closest has very dated supplies to use, the 2nd bedroom curtains are stained, the kitchen will blow your mind how rusted out it is - that's an island thing they told us - but this unit is clearly past it's time to be updated - the wood cabinets are ancient but that's ok and totally tolerable compared to the rest of the unit. We spoke to the management company and they gave us a credit for 1/2 a day and said this is how things are in the islands. Well, that's just downright sad when it's a hard-earned vacation that you planned for years. I would pass on this unit until they have confirmed it's been remodeled.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was quiet and private and the staff was amicable and welcoming. The location is fantastic if you really want a quiet vacation away from people. The property is older and very much bohemian style authentic Hawaiian cottage type. Not fancy at all! If you don't mind the "non glam" type of vacation then this place is great. There were a few things broken in our condo but that didn't bother us, we let the management know about and went on to enjoy our trip. I would definitely stay here again!

Overall, the rental unit was as we had hoped. The proximity to the beach was Perfect for us. The space was roomy and the view Incredible. We were glad to have a very clean bathroom.The not so pleasant: There were broken screens on the front and sliding doors when we arrived, but these were repaired while we were out, one day. The area floor rug needs to be discarded. It is full of mold and stains. The seat cushions on the loveseat had moldy spots also. We threw a cover over it so we could use it. We have to agree with other renters that the condition of the kitchen refrigerator on one side is unsightly to say the least. While it did not deter us from using the kitchen or enjoying the unit, overall, it is not expected in the price paid. The master bedroom slats on the window shutters were thick with dust buildup that we had to clean. This was unavoidable since the shutters were opened and closed for ventilation. A bit more care to the condition could make this a 5-star rental unit.

The location of Hanalei Colony Resort is stunning. It's an easy 10 minute drive from Hanalei town in a quiet area. The views from the unit can't be beat as you are right on the water. We also loved the convenience of the restaurant and coffee shop on site. The unit itself needs some major updates. The cleaning crew did a great job cleaning what they could, however, there are things that just need replacing. The refrigerator is covered in orange rust. The curtains and window treatments look moldy. A lot of the doors/cabinets are coming off the hinges. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but I expected more from the unit.

This is our 25th year staying at Hanalei Colony Resort and this time we came with our son and 4 year-old grandson. The unit is one we stayed in when our kids were young and it is one of our favorites! Hanalei Colony Resort in general is heaven on earth for those who love the ocean and peace and friendly people. This unit is the best location in the complex with truly amazing views of the ocean and beach. We couldn't ask for more...except there was a lot of deferred maintenance on the unit that might disappoint other potential guests. While my family is low-key about broken sliding screens, slider doors that don't open, window slats that are rusted open, grimy shower tile and other little signs of benign neglect that easily happen in the salt-heavy ocean-front setting, if someone is looking for the unit to be updated and working 100% then you may consider another unit in the building. As I said, our family will rent this again but I know we have many friends who wouldn't like those things. Also, this is rented through VRBO and we didn't realize that meant we couldn't use the complex's complimentary shuttle to beaches and town, nor get fresh towels and beach towels each morning. For us that we a little bit off-putting as we love the Aloha spirit of Hanalei Colony Resort's staff and always swapped out our towels to get clean beach towels in the past. All in all, this is the most beautiful setting on the north shore and the view is incredible and we will stay here again, but I hope that the condo gets a little TLC in the meantime.

We loved our experience here! Like others have said, it's important to note that this property does not have AC or a television and is a bit older, but the views steal the show anyway. We spent the majority of our time on the North Shore beaches, and this property was in a great location for that. The management helped us remedy a shower head issue in a timely manner and was very responsive.

We had a wonderful time being in this tranquil bonding surroundings.
The boat trip to see the Na Pali Coast was out of this world.
We aere astio able to make a day trip to the other side of the island and hike Waimea Canyon National Park.
Note: Due to construction allow an extra 2 Hr of leeway for catching a flight. We allowed one Hr and got eaten up real quick!

The entire facility was very outdated and in need of some repair. When we arrived, there was no smoke alarm, coffee pot and the porch light was dangling by a wire. The entire hotel was quite run down and it is worth pointing out that the location gets very windy!!
