Was a perfect little set up. The fold a nook was great, came with everything one person may need to make breakfast/lunch/dinner. Everything was easy and clean. The location was within walking distance from a great beach! I loved that the surrounding flora was keeping neighbors from looking in, made it feel very jungle and secluded at times.

Pros: excellent location, small & adequate studioCons:- no table or chairs for seating, only sofa - studio is on ground floor with another unit above where you can hear everything upstairs: noisy footsteps, normal volume talking, dropping items on floor.

A simple studio apartment, not fussy just easygoing.

I would note the lack of AC. Not because you need it, the two ceiling fans keep it more than cool enough and are perfectly quiet. But there arent windows to close out some of the sound of the two frogs. But you are provided with a small white noise machine that helps. Youre within walking distance of two beaches, but it is walking in the bike lane. Sidewalks arent much of a thing. The speed limit is low, so thats not too bad. I recommend the southern beach, Kahalu'lu for swimming. But the Magic Sand beach has shade and a nice breeze if you just want to kick back and watch some body surfing.

Great location, relaxed atmosphere, lots of plant life outside, not too much noise, well-cleaned. Note that tiny coquí frogs outside often sing by night; parakeets in the backyard trees by day. Easy & responsive booking with host, all-around lovely spot!

Pictures are acurate. Has all the stuff you need for the stay at a much better price than comparable proerties I looked at. Pretty convenient location with easy access. Fans provided all the cooling we needed during our stay. If you are a light sleeper this may not be the spot for you. The main road, Alii drive is very close you you get plenty of road noise. There was also a bird that liked to perch outside the window at night and call. Windows are just screens with shutters so there is no blocking tese off. Room was well furnished. Host was nice and offered advice on all the things we asked about. Overall I would stay again.

I had hoped for an ocean view, and if you tipee-toe by the corner window you can see blue water, but other buildings block the way. The place was smaller than i had imagined, but had everything we needed. Good bed, couch, kitchen and PARKING. Isaac was great, and worked with us on any question or problem we had. Thanks, buddy!

A nice little place perfect for the wife and I. Issac was great with communication and the location was great. Wrapped up our last 2 days on the Big Island here. Love the hostel like "use what others leave behind" nature of the place. They had chairs, snorkel gear, boogie boards, coolers, and assortment of condiments we took advantage of!

Location incredible, people incredible, a bit of everything for anyone and hands down the BEST neighborhood on Big Island. Isaac is beyond incredible as a host, always available and goes above and beyond the call of his job. This is a quiet neighborhood so if your looking to party at this place, not a good idea but there are a TON of spots to go party in walking and uber distance! Best!

What a gorgeous island and sweet little studio! It has everything you need: a fridge, freezer, hot plate to cook on, coffee machine, toaster, microwave, all the cookware, Tommy Bahama chairs, umbrellas, snorkel mask, fins, and more!! There is a little area where sunscreen, shampoo, toilet paper, etc, have been “donated” from previous guests; make sure to check it out if you need anything before going to the store. It’s a 15-minute walk to a perfect snorkeling spot and an easy drive to any restaurant or grocery store! You feel like you are in a rainforest with all the open windows and bird sounds! There isn't any AC, but the fans add to the natural ocean breeze to keep you cool! It is right by a main road, so you get sounds from the traffic that can get loud but it calms down later at night. Isaac is accommodating, so helpful, and quick to respond to anything you may need! I would come back in a heartbeat!

Isaac was a great host that’s was readily available when we had any questions. Magic Sands beach was my favorite beach during our visit and we were lucky enough to be able to walk there in 10 minutes. Would definitely stay again!

The location was a half mile from 2 nice beaches, the one being particularly good for snorkeling. Grocery store and dining options just a mile away. No a/c, but with the abundant windows, louvers for privacy and ceiling fans, temperature control was just fine and fresh air much appreciated. Cooking option with induction burner and needed accessory items like seasoning, oil, etc., was better than expected. A bit of noise from neighbors late one night was a negative, but tolerable.

I've stayed here several times, and this was equally enjoyable. My friend from Alaska stayed with me, and he also thought this was a great VRBO. Issac has always been available for anything that came up. Walking distance to Magic Sands was important for both of us. Mahalo Isaac for your space. Aloha is here...

For my fellow female solo travelers, this is a safe stay! The neighborhood is nice, parking is private, and Isaac is trustworthy and super friendly. The windows are all screened in with shutters that can be closed for privacy, as well as lots of foliage that block the outside world from seeing in. The "sharing is caring" table in the entry way is a brilliant idea, but everything you could possibly need is within a 15 minute drive. Also, it was exceptionally clean for a place so close to the beach. Mahalo nui loa Isaac :)

Although I've enjoyed each of the units I've stayed here, it's the owner, Isaac, that makes the difference. He's local, takes care of any problems right away, is accessible by text or phone or VRBO messaging. Place is always clean, everything works. Of I need a place again, Isaac will be first on my list.

I've stayed at another unit in Issac's house before, and this one was the same type experience. Very confortable bed, Clean, everything works, and Issac is always available for any challenges that come up. The location, for me, was ideal, close to Keauhou Shopping center, and all the shops over there. Next time I need to stay away from my home, I'll choose an Isaac (Owlett, that is). Lots of Aloha here!

We loved staying here! It was a bit of a surprise that all the walls open up but once we got used to the warm weather, we loved sleeping with all the windows town at night to keep the room cool. Everything was very clean. Had a hot plate, coffee maker, fridge, cooking and eating utensils, cleaning supplies. They also offer boogie boards, coolers and other beach amenities to use for free! The manager was easy to get ahold of with any questions. Very quiet and private but close to the water and beach. We loved this spot and highly recommend it.

Pleasent stay, Isaac the owner was awesome. I had a wonderful experience and definitely want to come back!

November 2019
It was perfect for a short inter island trip. Basic meal prep was absolutely possible and the right tools were there. We appreciated the full size fridge and freezer. The only thing I would fix is new bed sheets or the clips that hold them on the bed. The Fitted sheet constantly slid off while we slept or even just sat on the bed which was pretty comfortable otherwise.

I had an absolutely great experience in this well-equipped studio! There were lots of dishes and cookware as well as a full size fridge, induction cook top, and several other appliances to prepare our meals. I loved the open air room and coupled with the ceiling fans stayed nice and cool both during the day and at night. Two beautiful beaches were within walking distance which made this location perfect for snorkeling, boogey boarding, and swimming. There was plenty of off street parking and adorable chickens to greet you as you come and go! I would definitely stay here again!

David Hamm was wonderful to work with. He was friendly and easily contacted for questions. For our purpose this was perfectly located and affordable. We rented a vacation home in Kapoho, but wanted just a couple of nights in Kona so we could enjoy a luau and the beaches. This studio apartment was open air and very clean. The bed was comfortable.

We just needed a place to sleep at and it was perfect. We were gone since early morning until the evening, snorkeling and exploring the island. David was very accommodating. Hens on the property were cute and friendly , David gave us some fresh eggs as well. Great location, quiet, comfortable, convenient. We had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

March 2018
This VRBO was the perfect location and exactly what we needed for our time in Kona. We were looking for an inexpensive place to stay that was close to the things we wanted to do. The room was clean and had a bathroom and kitchenette. The owners even gave us some fresh eggs from the chickens out back. This is a typical island residence (wall to floor window screens, shutters, ceiling fans). Do not expect central AC or anything like that. For that you can spend hundreds per night and stay at the Marriott. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed listening to the birds in the morning and having the chickens come visit us through the screen, lol. While here, we walked the strip on Ali’i Drive, went to a luau, spent some time at Magic Sands beach which is literally across the street and down about 0.5 miles, and went on a fishing charter. They had beach towels and beach chairs to borrow, TV and WiFi for those who needs it, and we were even able to wash our clothes in the washer/dryer here which is always a plus. This was a great find, I would definitely stay here again. We even wished we had opted to stay here a bit longer. Mahalo!

March 2018
We especially appreciated the owner's warm welcome and attention to needs and requests. David Hamm opened the door to a studio unit which was clean, furnished, and fully equipped: microwave, Wi-Fi, TV, convection plate, kitchen utensils and supplies, refrigerator/freeze, full bath, ample space and hangers for clothes, and even a shopping bag. When the absence of a hair dryer was noted, David cheerfully provided one. Because this was our first visit to the Big Island, we needed travel advice. Again, David came through, recommending which destinations and routes would work best for day trips. There are so many interesting sights and activities on the Island of Hawaii, including its history and rich cultural heritage. Unfortunately, the highway noise from one block away disturbed our sleep, and the chicken coops emitted odors, offset somewhat by the character they presented. Our nickname for Hawaii became "Land of the Wandering Chicken." For an improved accommodation, we recommend that the owner add a folding table and a couple of folding chairs, furnishings which would enhance the dining-in experience and indoor activities, such as games, writing, and computers.

Great location just off Ali'i Drive, close to Magic Sands and a great snorkel beach! Its a smaller room with few amenities but it was all we needed and really enjoyed our stay. The birds are up early and there is some traffic noise, but I would recommend it for the location and cost.

February 2018
Dave is really all that the former reviewers said. A great host. He took really good care of us and we really want to say a big extra thank you for all the fresh eggs. We laughed every morning at the girls - careful not to leave your trunk open the chickens like to check things out. lol Our bed was comfortable and the room was just enough for our needs. Really liked that hot plate for cooking. The chairs need new cushions and Dave was planning to replace those. The room could also use a table to sit at to eat. The fans were wonderful. There were no windows on the one wall and we were a bit concerned about safety - but we had absolutely no issues. The people upstairs can be heard because there are no windows - so that is good to know if you want privacy. All in all a great affordable holiday! Oh and close to the best beaches. Thanks a million Dave!

January 2018
The studio was perfect for coming back at the end of a hard day of playing. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. You have fridge, microwave, and even a super nice hot plate (can't remember what it was called) so you can make as many of your meals as you want there. David even has a bbq you can use. David was very hospitable and helpful. Only negative is if you get inconsiderate renters upstairs you may need ear plugs. We stayed a couple of weeks and most of the time it was no problem, the people upstairs were great. We just had some people for a few days that were extremely loud. We would definitely stay again as you can't beat the location. You can walk to a beach or drive to all the activities on Ali's Dr in minutes.
