This was the perfect Maui vacation house! The house is so big that our group of 7 adults always had plenty of space, both inside and outside, to be together or find some private space. The house was especially well equipped with absolutely everything we needed to make our stay feel like home. The location is perfect for a quick walk to the beach, a short drive to so many great restaurants and easy access to some of the great hikes. The house itself is decorated with fun and interesting art and we were pleasantly surprised to find we had a view of the ocean from our porch. It was the perfect place enjoy our morning coffee before heading down the hill to Airport Beach for the best morning snorkeling. We hope to be back!

Large home with a big kitchen and two master suites as well as two additional bedrooms. The location can’t be beat-20 minute walk to the beach. The pool is a dip pool and you must pay extra to have it heated. We did not and it was still nice. Recommend an upgrade to the linens and the couch and recliner in the family room. Linens are polyester and couch sags and is ripped in back. Not an updated home but the size, location, and communication with Daniel still makes it a 10!

The house is stunning with a double master set up! The whole house is basically mirrored with large areas to relax and entertain. The views from the second story balcony are stunning and a constant reminder that you’re staying in paradise. Daniel was very attentive and prompt with response. This rental is a stunner!! Absolutely beautiful inside and out! The house is amazingly spacious with 2 very large masters and one of the biggest kitchens I have ever seen. The pool and spa are very private and the unit is accommodated with toys and floats to use in the pool. Location is prefect with a short walk to a beautiful beach that is perfect for families and snorkeling. In addition to all that, the host was great! Very responsive and accommodating for check in/out. I would 100% book here again!

We absolutely loved this house and property. Our group was a mixture of friends and family. Everyone had their favorite place to relax or unwind on the property. Whether it was swimming in the pool, unwinding in the hot tub, lounging on the deck or BBQing on the grill. This place had it all. Another bonus was all of the beach chairs, mats umbrellas and towels, so we were all set. The kitchen was very large. We made most meals at the house. We enjoyed having two refrigerators as we needed them! We are already planning our return!

Our week at the Whale House was terrific. The house was built quite a few years ago, but was originally someone’s dream retirement home and has many beautiful custom features. The living spaces are huge, the bedrooms & bathrooms are super comfortable, and the kitchen is enormous and really well equipped. We also loved having the outdoor barbeque area and the pool and jacuzzi. The house was perfect for our family.

A fuse had to be replaced for the spa, which the property manager took care of very quickly. Overall, the house is large enough to give a family group overall privacy in the setting, and each person some privacy in the well laid-out floor plan and outdoor spaces. Be aware there are two flights of stairs to get to the main living area and kitchen, but the stairs are double hand railed and carpeted. The privacy from palms and other vegetation and a private road type setting in front and a golf green up small flight of stairs in back of house was just what we wanted.

What a wonderful stay at the Whale House! This home does not disappoint. My husband and our friends had the best time. We love to cook so the kitchen was a dream! The pictures don't do it justice. We loved spending our mornings and evenings on the second floor porch overlooking the pool and sunsets. Everyone had ample space and privacy. Daniel was so quick to respond with any questions we had, incredibly helpful. I would stay here in a heartbeat if we get back to Maui. Mahalo!

Where do I start? Plenty of room for our blended family of 9 to space out comfortably. The upstairs area was great for eating as a family and enjoying movies and games in the evening. Fantastic/spectacular views of sunrise/sunset from the balcony, great place for your morning coffee. So close to the beach and so many other wonderful places to go. Would definitely stay here again.

This house was perfect for our family vacation. Lots of space for everyone to spread out. Hot tub was easy to use and private pool was great. Location was perfect easy walk or drive to the beach and shopping. The few minor issue we had were promptly address by Daniel and resolved quickly. View from the balcony was great for watching the whales in the channel. Kitchen was huge and well stocked made cooking dinners easy (the fish market Maui was a quick drive away for fresh fish) highly recommend this house if you are travelling with a larger group.

My family (mother, sisters, brothers in law, niece, nephew, and sons) have been planning a Christmas vacation away for a long time. This house was perfect for it! Rooms were spacious including the kitchen which was large enough that several people could be helping at once prepare the meals and clean up afterwards. The large dining table allowed us all to eat together. We loved the deck outside which grill for outdoor cooking. The pool was nice however, because there was no propane available due to supply issues, we weren't able to have our pool heated during our stay. The house was very clean and organized. Having beach towels, beach chairs, and boogie boards available was great! We used them every day and then used the washing machine and dryer at night to clean all the towels for the next day. The house was in a good location near the beach. When the bicycles tires were flat and the tire pump wasn’t functional the owners dropped off a new bike pump in a timely manner so the boys could go riding. The back of the house looks onto the golf course and we had a beautiful view of the trees and the ocean from the second floor balcony. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend the Whale House!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this incredible Hawaii home through VRBO, and it was nothing short of a dream come true! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the lush surroundings, breathtaking pool, and the warmth of the Hawaiian sun.
The property is an absolute gem, and the private pool was a highlight of our stay. Surrounded by swaying palm trees and tropical flowers, the pool area provided a secluded oasis where we could unwind and soak up the sun. The crystal-clear water was a refreshing escape from the heat, and all the kids and adults found themselves spending countless hours lounging on the comfortable poolside furniture.
The home itself is a true haven of comfort and luxury. The two-floor layout allowed for seamless indoor-outdoor living, with lots of room for 10 of us. The bedrooms were spacious and elegantly decorated, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploring the island.
One of the standout features of the property is the well-appointed kitchen. It had everything we needed to prepare delicious meals, and we took full advantage of the modern appliances and ample counter space. Enjoying breakfast on the outdoor patio with the sound of Hawaii in the background became a cherished morning ritual.
The property manager was exceptionally helpful and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was to our satisfaction.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The proximity to the beach is not a lie! However, the walk back to the house is all uphill but short. 😊. There were enough bedrooms for our family of 12 and enough room if we needed our own space. Kitchen amenities were great, along with everything we needed for the beach. Be aware, there are many steps going into the house and in the house. The main bedrooms are on the ground level and kitchen and living on the upper.

The “Whale House” was truly remarkable. From the “wow” factor, that doesn’t fade, every time you walk up to and into the house, to the amazing layout, it is truly a one-of-a-kind place. It’s beautiful, unique, loaded with art, and is just so comfortable. As a multi-generational group, it was so nice to have multiple seating areas with a spacious open floor plan that allowed people to be doing different things and yet all feel together. The small pool was great for quick dips and to cool off. The outdoor dining area and grill, surrounded by chaise lounge chairs, was a centerpiece for many of our meals. Sitting on the balconies and overlooking palm trees and the ocean with coffee was a morning ritual. There were boogie boards, surf boards, a paddle board, beach umbrellas, chairs, snorkel gear, sand toys, and coolers in the garage that covered everything we needed. The short walk to the Kahekili beach (which surprisingly also always had available parking) was great. The beach was uncrowded, and the snorkeling around the just offshore reefs and abundant fish were unexpected and as good as any place else we snorkeled. A few other pluses, two parking spaces plus room in the garage for a third car, a beautiful and quiet golf course neighborhood, and always felt very safe. Everything was great, and we had a wonderful time. I can’t imagine a place that is better all-around than this one.

This home truly met all the needs of my entire family! There was so much space for all of us to easily spread out, which included my grown children, their spouses as well as my 3 and 6 year old grand children. The home was so clean and well organized… The owners provided a beautiful and over-the-top, welcoming basket with so many goodies. The Home Truly had everything a family needed to vacation within the home (books, puzzles, pool, chess, relaxing on balconies) as well as on the beach (beach chairs, beach toys, boogie boards, ice chests, towels, etc.). The home could have used a few more coffee mugs, as well as child plastic cups, but these were minor items that I am sure the owners can easily remedy. The location and neighborhood are absolutely spot on beautiful… A wonderful place to take a run or a walk to the nearby beach. This was truly a wonderful and magical family vacation… Thank you so much to the owners for sharing their wonderful home with us and God Willing We Will Be Back!! : )

There were lots of great things about this house. We loved the location (you could walk to the beach in about 15 mins or drive right across the main road and easily find parking) The house itself was large and well suited for a our group of two families. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to make all our meals. Every bathroom had Shampoo, conditioner and body wash which was a real plus. The pool deck was nice with a great grill and lots of seating. We paid extra to heat the pool because it was March so it was at a perfect 86 degrees for our stay. Communication with the property manager was great and they tried to resolve any issues we had in a timely manner.
Unfortunately we had a couple of issues. The dishwasher did not clean the dishes when run. The property manager responded immediately and let us know that she wanted to replace the appliance instead of repairing because they have had issues with it before. Luckily the sink was nice and large which made washing the dishes by hand easy. Finally, I have to mention our biggest issue, on day 2 of our 6 night stay we started seeing cockroaches. They were in every bedroom, bathroom and the kitchen. The situation worsened everyday. I alerted the owner and properly manager. He responded quickly and offered to send an exterminator the next day.

This was our first trip to Maui. We were a family group of 8 adults and one 6 month old. We chose this house for its size and heated pool. Overall I have to say that the house was great. It has a real wow factor the minute you walk in. It was very spacious and clean, and having two refrigerators was a real plus.
The location of the house was not bad, but if you are a beach person you will need to drive, especially if you need to haul all of your beach

We had 5 adult couples during our stay. One of the upstairs bedrooms was a little smaller but still able to fit one of the couples. There were a few issues with bugs in that room but nothing major. The house is large enough that no one felt like we were on top of each other. The kitchen and living space are a great size as well. If you don't mind hauling your groceries up a number of steps to get to the front door, then again to get upstairs to the kitchen, then there are two full size refrigerators you can store them in. There is an extra fee to heat the main pool which we did not pay. The water in the pool was a little cool but great for the hot days. Unfortunately, the water heater broke the week before our stay so the hot tub was not heated whatsoever. This also means we probably couldn't have had the pool heated anyways. Regardless, most of our time spent at the house was at night as we enjoyed what Maui had to offer during the day. The house is in a great location only a few minutes from the beach. The house had plenty of beach gear to have us prepared. This was a great stay and would recommend being here with a large group!

Right sink in Dophin Suite had no hot water as handle was rusted to the sink. Drain backed up in northeast downstairs bathroom. We will not stay at this house next year.

Traveling to Hawaii was a first for all of us. I love that I found this home in Lahaina. It was large enough to accommodate my family of 8 and was in a great part of the island of Maui. Beaches were close and the property was supplied with the items needed for a day at the beach (ice chest, beach towels, chairs, snorkeling gear, umbrellas). Front Street which also was nearby gave us close proximity to shopping and dining. I would come back and stay in this home if the stars aligned.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Whale House! With 7 of us, there was plenty of room for everyone to hang out together, or have our own space inside or out, should we want. It was also great to have beach chairs, umbrellas, mats, coolers available to us for days we went to the beach or took road trips. The beach is a five minute walk down the road and so was very easy to get to by foot or car.
As another reviewer noted, the age of the home shows a bit and the decor may not be everyone's taste, but that didn't really bother us. Also, during the day we could clearly hear the neighbors next door, but things did quiet down in the evening. In the end, we were happy to embrace the whale and enjoy all that the home offered to us.

The Kaanapali "Whale House" is a beautiful, spacious, and comfortable home with a great yard and location. Our family of ten thoroughly enjoyed a week here. It was close to nearby beaches and other attractions. The house has the architectural interest, comfortable furniture, and great kitchen to make everyone happy. The property manager, Daniel, was responsive to our minor issues. We were very happy with our housing choice.

The property location is amazing..the view was spectacular and you can watch whales from the balcony. The house is well stocked with supplies and even has paddle boards, boogie boards, chairs.. everything you need for the beach. The property manager recently took over the house and they are working on fixing some of the things that happen to a house over time. There were a few minor issues ( one suite didn’t have the sheets changed), the lights on the walkway didn’t work, and the pool and spa were out of service when we got there. Dan was responsive when we told him those things were wrong and worked hard to get them fixed. He did tell us the pool/spa were broken when he talked to him after we arrived on island. I did even ask him what other properties they have since we frequent the islands 2 times a year.
Here is where things get interesting. We have been home since Feb 24 and the refunds he promised us for the non use of the pool and not being able to sleep in the bed for one night haven’t shown up. I am not a frequent VRBO user and this is the first time I have ever needed a refund.. however He told me VRBO won’t process the refund unless I give them a 5 star review. I find that odd and it bothers me even more because even with the minor issues we had at the house I probably would have given them a 5 star review without being told to do so..
I realize that I might never see a refund.. and that’s ok. I travel to Maui two times a year and feel like it’s more important to tell the truth to those who may only get to travel there once…then to worry about money.

This property is under new management, and it shows. They were extremely gracious with our many requests. And understand ... there were many requests. Not only do we have 7 children (and so we live large and loud), but we care a great deal about the spaces we inhabit. Their team took care of our needs, as they were able.
The house itself has amazing bones, and is at perfect location with beautiful ocean views, nice layout/feel and an upscale architecture. Some of the little things need some attention, but the managers were quick to respond to those and appreciated our feedback. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, and we have amazing memories from our 2-week stay here. Highly recommended.

We had such a wonderful time on our family vacation staying here. There were 5 adults so we had more than enough space for us all to hang out together but also not be too crammed in. The view and location were the best things about this spot, hands down. We enjoyed coffee and breakfast every morning with that view and were just a quick car ride to our daily adventure. The house offered every amenity you needed and more–even stuff to take to the beach. We only had a few issues that recommend some better upkeep–AC unit needs some maintenance, the vents are pretty icky (should be cleaned), quite a few screens need to be replaced. Overall, the house was great and we had a great time celebrating my dad's 75th. Hope to be back!

Check in was easy, the property manager texted the front door code and we were in. The property is in a great location with great ocean views. The layout is awesome for a large group (8 to 10) The house and grounds need a lot of TLC. Maintenance on the property is poor. Leaky plumbing, broken windows, water features in the pool not working. Small things that need attention.

We stayed at the property for 12 nights. The first 7 nights we had no air conditioning in half the house. We spent a lot of money on this house and expected some kind of resolve to the problem. It took them 3 days to have someone come look at the AC unit. We got a phone call and text after text guaranteeing it would be fixed each day it never was. We asked them to reimburse us for half of our stay for the nights with no air but continue to get no response. We also had issues with roaches. One fell in my husband when we where in bed. I told the management company and they said they would come have someone spray. We never saw anyone. I would not recommend staying at this house. I understand that there can be problems but when you spend this kind of money you expect more from the owner.

Our group of two families really enjoyed our stay at the Whale House. Decor was whimsical as promised (a real conversation starter!) and the house was quite spacious and very clean. The kitchen is terrific - it has an absolutely huge island great for breakfast seating, and is equipped with two large refrigerators, which came in very handy for feeding hungry teenagers. Since local restaurants were still operating at reduced capacity during the time of our visit, we prepared almost all of our dinners at home and made good use of the kitchen and outdoor grill. The outside seating areas are lovely, and the balcony was a great place to enjoy morning coffee and check emails. The house has two identical master suites, which made it ideal for a two-family group. One interesting quirk to note is that the master bedrooms and en-suites are somewhat open-concept: the bedroom flows directly into the master bath through a small hallway/closet area, and there is no door on the master bath. This didn’t pose a problem for our group, but may be something to keep in mind while allocating rooms if you prefer a bathroom door for privacy. Booking and communication over email with owner representative Michelle was pleasant and efficient, and property manager Linda was lovely, prompt, and helpful - she met us at the house upon arrival. We appreciated her tour of the house and the welcome treats she brought for us (wine, coffee, snacks), and appreciated as well the amenities provided in the house for guests - full-sized body wash, shampoo, conditioner, plentiful laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. The house was conveniently located to local beaches and to the port in Lahaina. There is a grocery store close by, too. All in all, a really nice place to stay!

This was a beautiful property with a very nice view of the ocean from the second floor. There were 9 of us total in the party, and we all had plenty of sleeping, bathroom, and living space. There were some ants in the kitchen, but I believe this is fairly common on the island. And as long as we kept the food in the fridge or fully sealed, it wasn't an issue. The home had a lot of nice art and sculpture, so I would just say be careful if you have very young kids. We really enjoyed our stay here though and would definitely recommend it to others!

Staying at the Whale House is like staying in an art museum. Interesting and high quality sculptures and glass work everywhere. Well equipped for our group of 12, including beach stuff. The but is the condition of the pool, hot tub, garage, and the plumping in general. This all needs work.
