"The apartment is really nice, well designed, with a nice lanai on the pool. The place is very quiet so you'll have a wonderful night of sleeping. In the apartment you'll find everything you need to make your vacation a great one. They give you beach supplies and more. It's really in the center of Kona, so you don't have to drive to have breakfast or dinner, everything is really, really close, just five minute walk or even less! If I've ever come back to the Big Island I'll check for the availability of this place first!"

We stayed 4 nights in this well equipped condo. Great location, right downtown. Walkable to all of Kailua Kona which is what we wanted. Parking in Kona is an issue so not having a car is a real plus. Clean unit. Comfortable bed. Several fans which we appreciate as we are not fans of AC, preferring fresh air. Location within complex is good with front door shut at night but lanai screen open could not hear traffic. Pool noise not bad. We knew to bring our own soap, shampoo and conditioner for the shower for other reviews. The only drawback was getting in as electronic door lock was not working as it should, communicated with owners who tried to help remotely, but in the end used the physical key in the lock box. But even lockbox was tricky to open/close. Front desk cannot help, only owners can help with access as all units are individually owned. The owners who were apologetic but live in Canada will be dealing with the electronic lock and hopefully get a new easy open lockbox too on their next trip here. Was a bit of a stress and waste of 45 min, when all you want is an easy in, cool off and relax. But we understand things happen, what can you do. Friendly front desk and do need to check in for their records, read condo rules, get parking pass if needed, and get amenity key (pool and laundry). When we were there parking spaces were not an issue probably because condo not full.

It was perfect for the two of us. We came from Hilo for a wedding in Kona. I loved all the little touches such as having coffee, sugar, AND creamer so I didn't have to rush out and buy it. Even having a blow dryer, hot plate, and other necessities. I will definitely be back again. Thank you for the ease of checking in and out. The only thing I was unclear about was where to put my towels and bedding. :) Not to mention the location was perfect as we had a dinner date at Huggos. Mahalo again!

The location and the surrondings was nice. Easy to access the shore. The only problem was the small bugs all around the place. There was some maintenance during our stay, so we didn't have water for a day. I understand its not the property's fault, but it was a bit disturbing.

We were in Hawaii to celebrate our 28th year of marriage. The bed was good enough to wake up feeling rested, but not a bed I could stay in for more than 8 hours. The room was well equipped for our needs, we managed without a stove. Overall, it was a room with a view and conveniently located and served its purpose. Thank you, `Ann

This was a perfect little place for two to use as a home base. Walkable distance to all kinds of shopping--from great tourist shops, to farmer's market, to your usual grocery and coffee shops and restaurants. So easy to walk to Hulihe'e Palace and beach overlook at Hale Halawai Park. The hosts even have beach chairs available! Not a lot of parking spaces available at the condo. One night we had to park on the street--but we didn't have any problems.

It was a hot July day in Kona and we turned the AC on only to discover pooling water about an hr later inside the livingroom floor and outside on the lanai. I called the designated cleaning person as they are local. They not only did not send someone to help as they said they would, I had to track a handyman down. The reception said "we don't address repairs in the units and cannot help you". After the handyman left the unit kept leaking so we placed a plastic tub under it which needed to be emptied every couple of hours. This was not what I paid for on our 4th of July trip to Kona! Mopping the floor with an entire roll of paper towels. When we tried to leave the air off the room turned into a sauna. We called they owners and they literally did nothing, other than advising me there was a small table fan in the closet. VRBO support was inept in helping even after I spent all evening trying to upload video of the leak; the system would not allow me to attach even a small file off my phone. After creating a vrbo case, they arbitrarily closed it despite me sending a Google file showing with the leaks. Obviously a still photo is insufficient. I did my part to document (including text correspondence with the hosts) the issue only to be ignored. This unit and these hosts are not a good example of Aloha. Even though there is a Kuerig there were no provided coffee pods, only tea. I could EASILY have lived with something relatively minor if they'd fixed the AC or offered diff unit!

We loved our stay here! The location is ideal for visiting town and adventuring out. The room was clean & tidy, with air conditioning and a delightful balcony overlooking the pool. The hosts provided all the beach equipment you might need, and info on the best spots to visit while you stay. Access to the grills by the pool was easy. I have to mention the great water pressure in the shower too. We didn't want to leave! Thank you!

This place did not disappoint. Everything is just as you see in the photos. The bed was a tiny bit soft for our liking but we still slept great on it. The cooler was handy to have. The bathroom is tiny but functional. The AC worked great but we found we were comfortable most nights with just the ceiling fan on and the door open. The pool and hot tub are amazing, we used it a lot and met some nice people there too. The kitchen was well-stocked and we found everything we needed except a can opener (which actually was there but it is broken. It doesn't look broken but it is). The parking was managable - we managed to find a spot on the highway out front when the main lot was full. We would stay here again for sure. This is a great complex - well maintained (tree trimming and routine pest control happened during the 10 days we were there) and is close to everything you need in Kona.

This property served our needs for one night fine. The pictures do it justice. Though what surrounds it is not super attractive, it is a cute property. It seemed well equipped for a short stay, especially for anyone not traveling with their own beach gear. It was pretty expensive for one night. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, but she had limited information and we received no response to our inquiry re: when we could check in. Overall, much more positive than negative.

Stayed 1 night before my flight home. Checked in at 4pm after a full beach day. There was no running water so we couldn't shower or use the toilet and after a full day in the sun and covered in sunscreen. The property manager was "in another time zone" so our message wasn't replied to until we had already left the next morning. Didn't matter since all they did was say sorry. Not even a mention or offer of even a partial refund even though the condo was unusable. Stayed in 2 other condos during my trip that both cost less and were perfect. It was a special experience having 14 hours of flights and travel the next day. Just glad this was only a single night. Longer stay would have ruined our entire vacation.

January 2022
We knew going to the Big Island a car was recommended so we had one booked for our overnight in Captain Cook to only find out that while staying in Kona everything was going to be at least a 20 minute drive away. From the way the description is listed, you would think there is more to do but there are two little shopping malls (most stores clothes around 5), a handful of restaurants, and two or three access points to the beach within walking distance. We actually left a day early and booked a different hotel on the other side of the island to be closer to the waterfalls, hiking trails, and other activities. The room had ants everywhere which wouldn't have been a big deal if they hadn't made their way into our suitcases and hygiene products. The two people at the front desk were unhelpful with recommendations and took their time coming to the desk after seeing us standing there. Overall you maybe only need to spend one night/ full day in Kona depending on what you are looking to do. If you are looking for anything like the black sand beaches, snorkeling, hiking trails, etc. you should stay in Hilo or Captain Cook.

This is a very quaint and well managed condo in a friendly and relaxed older plantation style condo with lots of trees and flowering plants. It has a lovely lanai overlooking the pool area. The condo was very clean and well stocked with everything one might need. Within walking distance to the pier, a nice swimming and snorkeling area as well as all of the shops and restaurants. Very friendly and safe area. My son and I loved staying there and hope to visit again! Thank You! Holly and Aaron

We really enjoyed our stay (second time), beautiful property, excellent location. Will definitely be back.

We really enjoyed our stay. The extra touches were great, including plenty of extra towels, thick beach/pool towels, cooking appliances (if you want to cook in your suite) and the sink in the bathroom (loved it)..... Nicely decorated and very clean. We had a small problem with the shower drain, were impressed by how quickly it was fixed. Definitely will stay here again. Very nice property, great pool, walking distance to everything. We have stayed at other suites at the Kona Islander and this was by far the best.

Let me start with saying we enjoyed our stay and have no complaints about the unit. But somethings we did not realize was this unit is small and no real cooking facilities except for a microwave and electric skillet. We usually cook all our meals to keep dining out costs low, so this is a bit of a disappointment. The unit is more of a studio than a one bedroom condo. The bathroom has no sink and the kitchenette sink is tiny for doing dishes. When washing dishes be careful with your water use because the water runs to the back of the counter and can easily get on to the floor. I think it is the slope of the counter top. Also, there is a community grill, but a lot of the tenants use it so the gas runs out quite fast. We couldn't cook our dinner a couple of nights because we cooked later in the evening. So, if you do grill, do it early. Parking is limited so if you aren't in before 7:00 p.m. you might end up looking for on street parking and having to walk a bit back to the complex. Kona offers various farmers market shopping opportunities so do a Google search on what is available. The one nearest to the condo looks a little like a homeless camp and sometimes the product is over-riped and over the years I notice the prices have creeped up quite a bit and the quality is not as good as it used to be. So, do a little homework before you arrive. Again, overall the unit worked well for us and we have no complaints. We enjoyed our time and the coffee shops nearby are great - Island Lava Java and Daylight Cafe are both worth visiting.

Would definitely recommend this studio suite for a couple or small family. The unit is clean and tidy, bed very comfortable. We enjoyed the use of the pool and hot tub as well. The location is quiet even though right close to the beach and downtown shops. The kitchen is set up with everything you need. Directions given to us were especially appreciated as our flight arrived late in the evening. Would encourage visitors to check out the downtown market as the produce is a lot cheaper than in the grocery stores. Also enjoyed evening at Huggos, a restaurant right on he beach just south of the condo. Look forward to coming back again.

March 2015
It would have been nice to know this isn't really a condo, it's a hotel room called a condo. There is no stove, so can't cook meals and relax at home. There is a fridge so if all you're looking for is to keep your drinks cold, it's OK. And there are grills at the pool if you want to buy steaks, etc but certainly not convenient. There is no sink in the bathroom, the kitchen sink is about 10"X8" so hard to wash a full size plate. There are 40 some parking spaces for 150ish condos so huge issue. Street parking is impossible due to right on main street in Kapaa. So plan on paying for a parking garage. Overall, we were disappointed

February 2015
We were a little nervous with this process as this was our first time renting a place from the owners. That said, we were very happy with the condo. It is just the right size for a couple or a small family. The furnishings are all very nice, the bed comfortable and appliances were sufficient. With access to restaurants within walking distance , there is very little need to cook , however if we wanted to grill we had access to the grills at the pool area. The grills are cleaned daily so there was no worry there. If we brought food back for later we were able to reheat in the microwave and store in the refrigerator. We had a coffee maker, toaster and a few other appliances And really did not need anything else. Pool access was easy as was the laundry area. Everything was clean and people were friendly. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

August 2012
It was such a welcoming pleasure to arrive at your condo after a long evening flight. Your condo was very clean upon arrival and had such a warm welcoming feel. We felt very much at home. Your kitchen was so cute and with the large fridge it was so great to be able to go shopping at the market & costco and be able to buy food for more than a day or so use. Your microwave, deep electric frying pan and steamer were well used and was just great for cooking everything. Your kitchen is very well equipped and 3 people were able to work (co-ordinately) in it. Your bathroom is also very nice and was very clean.. We really liked the condo layout and your bed and pull out bed were very comfortable. We enjoyed our coffee and breakfast in the morning on your lani looking out to the wonderful plumeria trees and the pool area. The grounds are maintained so well and are so beautiful. Our dinners were so peaceful and we enjoyed sitting out on the lani at night watching the tiki torches being lit and watching the sun set.. we were in paridise for sure. You have all the things we needed for the beach. We really appreciated the beach chairs and other goodies and the cooler too. Your flat screen TV was also watched lots, with the games in London, we would come home after an awesome day at the beach or shopping and then get caught up on the games. (from the livingroom area or the lani) It is so nice to see modern upgrades in the condo. All in all I would and will recommend your condo to my friends and family and others reading these comments. I hope to be back soon and stay in your condo. We all had a super time.

We arrived the afternoon of 8 Jun 2012. Condo was clean and everything was in perfect order. Our location was fantastic. We were within walking distance of many shops and eateries in Kona. We spent many nights on the balcony eating dinner we prepared at the condo with the hotplate. Doesnt sound like much but the hotplate worked perfectly! We used the microwave as well and really did not suffer any inconvenience preparing food. The flora adorning the condo complex is fantastic! You feel as though you are in a tropical paradise! We used the front desk for signing up for trips (fishing and snorkeling with the dolphins). My wife used the laundry facility once and it was a snap! We definitely recommend this unit for anyone interested in the west side of Hawaii stays!

We just spent 5 days. We really enjoyed the fully equipped condo. Especially the big cooler was perfect for our day trips to the different beaches. The condo has a nice view on the pool of the area. Maybe the bed is a bit too soft for our taste. Mahalo again.

April 2012
Excellent location beautiful plantation property in the heart of Kona with access onto the seafront and all the amenities in walking distance. Studio apartment was well maintained with a magnifcent view overlooking the pool and lush plants, relaxing on the lanai in the evening was spectacular with the tiki torches adding a romantic ambience. My husband and l enjoyed the peaceful feeling of the complex and all the amenities such as pool hot tub barbaque and laundry facilities also convienent location to some fine dining and local markets. this was our first visit to Kona we had a memorable relaxing time and will definitely return and highly recommend this property to our friends and relatives Mahalo Ernie and Sharon

March 2012
We had a great stay and found the suite well equiped and comfortable. While small, the location, gardens and facilities of the Islander Inn are big advantages. There are many suites in the Islander than have not been renovated but this unit has had many upgrades. The residents and staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed.

March 2012
A lovely studio with a nice view of the well tended grounds and pool area made our stay in Kona as memorable as our first trip here. The location is perfect, the staff friendly and helpful, the residents neighborly, the pool immaculate and the studio clean, stocked with all sorts of necessities and amenities. It was a great home away from home while we explored the island. Mahalo Sharon and Ernie....
