I can’t say enough about the hosts and property!!!!
Doug and Gay are fantastic hosts and have EVERY staple needed in the condo! We have stayed with them once before and will DEFINITELY stay again!
The condo is very welcoming and has a fantastic view with close proximity to the ocean. The newly installed split units in the bedrooms and living area are wonderful. Though we learned this year and opened the “levolor” blinds by the kitchen to allow a wonderful cross breeze.
We kept the bedroom lower with the doors closed so we had comfortable sleeping (my husband and I only use the “master” but there is another bedroom with two twins that can convert to a larger bed.
Our Family was in 4D and had planned to have more family again this year in 4B but unfortunate circumstances kept 8 people in our party at home.
We were very happy to support local during our 10 day stay and everyone was SO appreciative of us still coming.
Our group ended up spending over 1000 at a local shop. I had called before we went down there to make sure they were open. Once there the shop owner said that she had only been open again for 3 days and thanked us over and over for our patronage
Please go to Leola’s Family Fun-ware in Honokowai Marketplace. She has great dresses, shirts and many other things to offer.
As far as our condo, I want to keep it secret but I know that others should also enjoy this heavenly place! Thank you Doug and Gay until next time.

My family & I just returned from a 2 week vacation to Hawaii & Disneyland, the first 5 nights of which we spent on Maui at this fabulous condo. Gay & Doug were amazing hosts & were quick to respond to any questions we had both before arrival & during our stay.
This condo has been well taken care of over the years & the location is hard to beat - morning coffee & a couple of evening dinners while enjoying stunning views from the lanai is something I will remember the rest of my life.
If you simply read the descriptions & follow advice given by the owners, there is no reason your stay here should not be amazing. Some of the comical review complaints I have seen simply proves you cannot please everybody all of the time.
It is a short walk to the ABC store for any basic needs. Directly across the street are two good restaurants: 1. The Fish Market Maui (full menu restaurant, a fresh fish market & ceviche served daily - yum!) where we ordered takeout twice to enjoy on the lanai while watching the sunset & 2. Miss Arepa where we enjoyed a tasty lunch. A food truck area is also a short walk away & Whaler’s Village is 2 miles south with plenty of food & shopping options too!
For exercise, there is quick access to a walking path along the beach just south of the condo towards the Westin resort area.
Hosts provided every need we could anticipate and more. We particularly loved snorkeling with sea turtles & boogie boarding at Fleming Beach.

Stunning view of Moloka'i, and easy access to the ocean.
Location in Lahaina is terrific! A short drive to many excellent beaches. We enjoyed Kahekili Beach--best snorkeling!
Well-stocked, but over-stocked. There isn't a spare cupboard in the kitchen. It would be helpful to have at least one cabinet for renters to use for food storage. The bedrooms are also very tight--a lot of unnecessary furniture.
The biggest disappointment was the air conditioning. The unit is small and does not have the capacity to cool the entire condo. The bedrooms were very hot. The louvered windows did not pull in the ocean breeze as advertised. We had to use a series of fans to blow air to the bedrooms, and, even then, it wasn't comfortable. The outside air temperature at night (74 when we were there), is the coolest it will feel if you rely on the louvers. I prefer to sleep much cooler than that. The unit was closed up tight when we arrived and super hot. Housekeeping should leave louvers open for arriving guests.
We had family in two of the other units in the same building (4B and 4D) and their ACs were amazing! They were both larger capacity units.
Finally, there are 'suggestions' all over the unit from a label maker. We found them a bit passive-aggressive. They felt like admonitions from a nervous grandparent--"no feet on the coffee table", "use a coaster", "use lever to lower recliner", "no suitcase on the chair", and there are so many more--over 100! We didn't feel welcome in this unit.

I don’t normally do reviews, but based on some of the negative reviews that I have read about this condo they needed to be dismissed by someone who’s had quite a different experience. First off, the owners of this condo are extremely responsive, thoughtful and great with advice when asked. The views are absolutely astounding. It is a tropical environment so if you take their advice at opening the louvers to let the cross breeze come in with the aid of the multiple fans that are in the condo, it never got uncomfortable for us. The condo offers absolutely everything someone visiting a tropical paradise could want. They offered an umbrella, beach chairs, boogie boards and more. There was even sunscreen and after sun burn care which came in handy. It’s very centrally located and we never had a problem getting groceries or food from local eateries. We even walked to a couple of them. It was spacious and clean and offered everything that it advertised. One thing we learned early on was if you want to snorkel, I recommend doing it in the morning to early afternoon hours as high tide starts to come in and it can get a little rough. When going in the water, bring a pair of water shoes to save your feet for the occasional rock that will get underfoot and you will have no problem exploring. We are already trying to sort things out for another trip to this condo. A huge thanks to Gay and Doug for your wonderful hospitality. Can’t wait to come back! Mahalo!

Location was perfect. Kiddos loved that they could go snorkeling every morning and pool in the evening. We loved walking in the evenings to the food trucks and other restaurants close by. If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy with your family this is the perfect place especially with little ones.

The condo was very clean and is right on the water. Their corner unit is ideal. The unit is not a 2ba as advertised, it’s a 1.5ba. The second ba is tiny & has an electric toilet that exudes an odd odor. We stopped using that ba after day 2 due to the smell. The pool code listed was outdated and we had trouble getting out of the pool area and had to enlist passers by for help. Otherwise the location of the unit is good and waking up to the waves ea morning was lovely.

You can't deny that the view is spectacular, however, there is no easy way to get to the actual "beach" during low tide as it is super rocky and a significant drop from the step to the beach. You definitely need shoes and there is really no beach to speak of. And while the condo was in close proximity to many conveniences, it is a stretch to say it's an easy walk to anywhere other than the ABC store or the fish market; there is no sidewalk on this side of the street. You will need a car. The description also indicated that the condo was newly remodeled; however, they appear to have forgotten to update the tiny A/C unit in the corner behind the TV that barely cooled a small part of the front room. We were all miserable the entire week because we could not sleep due to the stuffy heat in the condo. One tower fan was broken, and one barely worked. The ceiling fans did nothing to mitigate the heat of this west facing unit (we kept the blinds down inside and one of the outside blinds was broken). I personally ended up sleeping on the couch due to the heat and due to the size of the bed (very small for a queen). My husband ultimately gave up on the bed and slept in the recliner because the bedroom was too hot. My daughter and mother both said the twin beds were extremely soft. We couldn't take a cooling shower, because the water was scalding hot or nothing; you literally had to quickly get wet, then stand in the corner to soap up, then quickly rinse off. If you had even the slightest bit of sunburn you were better off jumping into the pool and avoiding the shower. On the positive side, the pool area was very nice and quiet and the condo is a short distance to beautiful Ka'anapali beach. The beach chairs (3) and umbrella provided were nice, although a fourth chair would have been nice. The kitchen had everything we needed to make our own meals, but the freezer did not keep things (like ice cream) very cold. There was a nice gift basket, but it was difficult to tell if it was free or an additional charge. Overall, our entire party felt that the VRBO description was a bit misleading with regard to an actual beach and being within walking distance to so many things. We would gladly stay at this condo complex again, but definitely not this unit. The people in the unit upstairs said that they had modern A/C in each room, so maybe we'll try for that one next time.

My family and I arrived at the condo during our easter vacation and were immediately concerned. This was our first-time visiting Maui and likely our last partially due to the terrible experience at this property. We literally left the property and went to a hotel because we were all unanimously disappointed with this property. We notified the owners immediately and they were not helpful at all. The owner’s description of this property paints a picture of lavish grounds and a spa inspired condo. In my opinion, the grounds were unimpressive to say the least as I found the pool to be undersized and the grounds very basic. The grounds reminded me of a motel property and not a “boutique resort” as described in the owner’s description. Note, there are no services on the property that would constitute resort services. To me, a “resort” is a self-contained destination that provides all travel needs in one location such as food, drinks, entertainment, shopping, and other activities without leaving the property. There are no such services on site at this property. Upon entering the unit, we were greeted with a strong sewage smell. After opening the rear sliding door, I was able to confirm that the smell was coming from within the unit. There is a half bathroom and the smell emanating from the toilet area was very strong. I turned on the bathroom fan and noticed a post-it sign/sticker asking not to leave the fan on because it disturbs the unit above. I am guessing that the bathroom odor is not new hence the fan note. In my opinion, the condo furniture was old and dirty. The owner describes it as a “developer/contractor and design team have brought about a design concept that is modern, fresh and has a quiet beauty that reflects the environment.” In reality, we found that there were many visible stains on the aged furniture and visible dirt on the couch pillows. The rattan/wicker furniture had dust caked in the weaving. In addition to the dirty furniture, the condo was dusty. Upon touring the remainder of the condo, we found it to be dusty and weathered throughout. Finally, we did not find the beach access to be convenient. Getting to dry sand is a journey.

Love the location, corner condo. Enjoyed watching the whales and sunsets from the patio. Had a little hiccup upon check in but was rectified appropriately by the owners and property manager- they did a very nice job communicating and following up. Some areas could use a deep clean (light switches, shelving and dust on closet doors) but we otherwise found the condo to be very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed the views. Would stay again. This lovely, 2 bedroom - 1.5 bath condo is our favorite place to come for a relaxing vacation. My husband and I love to sit next to each other on the lounge chairs (it is rare to find a property with 2 of them) and watch the waves, the whales, boats, outriggers, paddle boards, and clouds. The snorkeling or swimming between 2 reefs just feet from the lanai is excellent. The bed is comfortable and the condo is immaculate. Parking for your rental is included. The property is beautiful and well-maintained. We enjoy the pool and make use of the clean laundry facilities mid-vacation. Everything we need is within walking distance. Be sure to walk across the street to go to the Fish Market. In addition to fresh, raw options, they have a great menu of delicious meals and ala carte options. To start the day with a walk, we pass Bad Ass Coffee and the natural food store (which is nearby) to head to Hawaiian Village Coffee for breakfast and wonderful espresso drinks. Duke's is a wonderful restaurant along side a very nice walkway, at the base of one of the resorts. We like to go mid-afternoon for a late lunch, when they have live music as well as fantastic appetizers or a meal. You can stop off at the Time Market, which is across the street, to get anything you might need. Lahaina, with historic sites as well as an abundance of unique shops and restaurants, is a short drive away. If you want to go to Merriman's for dinner, be sure to reserve a table 4-6 weeks in advance. They also have a patio on the point. If it has not been reserved for an event, you can walk in for drinks and appetizers. Great place for a memorable meal. We cannot wait to come back next year!!

Eleven feet from the ocean met all our expectations. Having the ocean right off the lanai was amazing. We had nothing coffee and watched the whales (many moms and calves, breaches, fin flapping and tail slaps). The location was a great home base to explore the island. We enjoyed the fish market, farmers market and fresh cinnamon buns from Pappy Ohana's. Condo was clean, bed comfortable. Difficult to leave :). Thanks for allowing us to stay.

The location is absolutely perfect for whale watching!
Everything was neat and well maintained at the complex. We used the bbq grills and laundry which were always clean.
Our specific unit had everything we needed for our stay.
The only suggestion might be to get some more comfortable cushions for the couch.
All in all one of the favorite properties we have stayed at.

The location is perfect! The furniture was slightly dated, it appeared the unit was in need of some upgrades but the owner was very kind and helpful. The toilet in the main bathroom didn’t flush when we arrived but was fixed promptly the next morning (Sunday). All in all we were pleased and had a wonderful vacation!!

This is ocean front as promised, not just ocean view with dunes in the way. Listen to the waves from every corner of this property. The trade winds blew pleasantly through the condo so we never once turned on the AC in 6 days. Shopping (ABC and Good Times) within walking and also many small local places to eat within walking distance (fish market, good trucks, and much more). Beaches and other areas of interest (from Lahaina to Kapaulua are all 5-10 min drive). This is a quiet lowrise condo complex in a great location.

We really enjoyed our time at this property. We were able to sit and watch the whales right from the backyard so that was awesome.
We had a little hiccup on arrival, but they remedied it quickly and we appreciated that.
The kitchen is fully stocked to cook in. The bedrooms are smallish, but worked fine. The beds were comfy too. There were 5 of us so we had to use the rollaway bed. Very cramped in the bedroom, but we made it work. The main bathroom was very nice. I would have thought a washer/dryer would have made better use than the very tiny 2nd bathroom. Laundry area wasn't far from the condo and it was $3 total to wash and dry using the app so not too pricy. The app was cool because it told you when the load was done.
It was nice having an ice chest, ice packs and bags to use to take to the beach. My kids loved the boogie boards! Charging phones and stuff was tricky. One outlet (or maybe it could have been my cord I don't know) fried a battery pack I was trying to charge for the plane. Thankfully we were there when it happened.
Having extension cords would be nice or bringing long charging cords would have been a good idea as outlets aren't very convenient. We walked to the food trucks twice for dinner because it had all different types of food so everyone could get what they want. The ABC store also sells deli style food too, but we didn't try it. Both are really close. The cinnamon rolls at the pizza/cinnamon roll place were huge and very tasty- also a very short walk.
The furniture is nice, but not the comfiest. Very sturdy, but not cozy.
It was very warm in the house so we had all the fans going non stop with the AC. Hopefully you like white noise of fans cause it's loud with all them going. Fans could use a good cleaning though.
I woke every morning very early as I was on California time and enjoyed sitting on the loungers watching the water as the sun came up. It was a great house for the vacation we needed. Thanks!

Location, location, location! The property is located as described and makes a Hawaiian vacation truly magical. Snorkeling directly in front of the condo, enjoying the view from the patio, hearing the ocean, feeling the breeze and watching the sun set. The queen bed was comfortable and the kitchen stocked very well! Would have preferred a king bed for vacationing. We were able to keep cool enough with the air conditioner running and fans strategically placed around the condo- we were fortunate not to have anyone in the other bedroom because we did have to keep the door open to get enough cool breezes to sleep comfortably (it was quite warm while we were there) The numerous signs around the condo were quite redundant -- sorry the owners must have had numerous renters who do not follow common sense manors. The pool code was incorrect- we had to get it from another guest in the resort. Used the bbq while doing a load of laundry one night too. Many outdoor toys to borrow like boogie boards, pool noodle. One recommendation is to replace outdoor furniture. The lounge chair pads are worn with holes in them and the table is wooden and attracts little bugs and is hard to wipe off clean. Even with these couple "issues" we still would rent here agaIn! The location is fantastic, area is not crowded like the big condos just up the road, many places to nearby to eat and walk to.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at this property in Maui. The condo is lovely, in a great location, & so close to the ocean. We traveled to a nearby beach each day, went to a luau, did a sunset dinner cruise, visited the aquarium & played mini golf, went to Whaler’s Village, spent a lot of time at the wharf/Banyan Tree area in Lanai, & so much more. Our son is 8 & loved every minute of it. We did snorkel at the condo but the waves were pretty high while we were there. We swam in the pool a couple of times as well. The accommodations & the setting made for the perfect vacation. I highly recommend this venue, as being so close to the ocean was one of the best parts of the trip!

This condo was nothing short of Paradise!
This was my first trip to Hawaii and my husband’s 3rd trip to Maui (though he hasn’t gone since he was a kid).
From prior to check in, through check out everything was EASY and the host was VERY kind and responsive (though we only chatted twice 😁).
The grounds of the property were very beautiful and developed, it was QUIET at all times and it has everything you need: bbq, laundry, pool (though we didn’t use it), and easy walking distance to a farmers market/grocery store, coffee shop and the best fish market!
The condo view and atmosphere was to die for! You can’t ask for anything better in Maui!
Swimming right in front of the condo was fantastic, and the snorkeling wasn’t bad either.
We saw the resident turtle quite a few times, I would love to come back to watch for whales.
Inside was everything you need: cooking a gourmet meal, to beach gear and taking day trips (ice chest, beach chairs, towels, snorkel gear, etc). We had everything we needed and more!
Our family rented the condo next door, so it couldn’t have been better! They have two young children and low tide out front was perfect for them too!
It was a short drive to may wonderful places (Old Lahaina, snorkeling on the Pride of Maui, shopping at Whalers Village….and much, much more that we will explore on our next trip).
We can’t wait to come back and started planning our return trip on day 2. Next year we will stay a couple more nights.

The property is exactly like the pictures. Don’t know if we will ever be able to stay that close to the beach and ocean ever again. Condo had all of the amenities we needed including gear to take for a day exploring local beaches. Very quiet and low key property that had everything that we needed (pool, laundry, beach access, assigned parking, ABC Store within 2 minute walk, etc.). Highly recommend the Fish Market across the street for take out and enjoying on the condo’s back patio for a delicious lunch or dinner with fantastic views. Have stayed at hotels in the area before and after staying here there is no comparison, would absolutely stay at this property again.

Listing is accurate. Condo is right on the ocean, ideally located w/in complex for privacy & views. Parking spot was fine (we had a Jeep Wrangler & it fit fine). Condo had enough space for our family of 4 (kids14 and 11yo), and had everything we needed. $$ was less than a hotel there. It was nice to be able to cook a bit & not have to go out for ALL our meals; restaurants there are pricey (everything is; I would say ~150% compared to at home in MO). There is a small beach on the other side of the seawall; at high tide it kinda disappears, but most of the day there is enough sand to sit out in beach chairs (2 are provided) or on a towel. You can swim/snorkel right there (we visited some of the well known tourist beaches but had more fun playing right there on our own little beach. All beaches in HI are open to public by law, but because of its size & location, ours was only used by a few people, & felt "private". I do recommend going at least once to Kapalua Bay beach, which is a short drive away & GREAT for snorkeling, with lots of fish & very gentle water). I liked having the seawall because it provides separation between the lanai area and the beach. Awesome views of the islands of Molokai and Lanai, & of sunsets. This condo is in more of a "suburban/residential" area between the touristy/resort areas of Kaanapali & Kapalua, but I liked that because there are reasonably priced (by Maui standards) stores & takeout places within walking distance (I recommend the Fish Market for takeout, also the food truck park across from the Times Market). Lahaina town, w lots of restaurants and shopping, is a 10 min drive away. Keep in mind that you'll need to make reservations wks in advance for the fancier restaurants; use OpenTable for this. There is an open air laundry pavilion in the condo complex; you can use quarters ($1.75/wash $1.25/dry) or pay by credit card with a cool phone app. It was nice to be able to wash our stuff and the laundry was never busy. We had minimal contact with the host but he did respond to ?s emailed thru VRBO. Only issue is we couldn't get the dishwasher to work, but we didn't have a huge amount of dishes to wash, so we did 'em by hand. If you go, I recommend reserving dinners at the Old Lahaina Luau and Lahaina Fish Co, a boat trip or 2 with Trilogy, & go up Haleakala. You can drive up there, but don't try to drive yourself to Hana; go w a tour; it's a hard drive & a nightmare if you break down! We saw it happen to others!

Loved staying here during our trip to Maui. The property and ground around it are lovely with access to a pool. The condo kitchen was well equipped with everything you need to cook. Nicely maintained beach chairs, towels, floats and beach toys. We found the bedrooms to be warm at night even with the AC running but plenty of fans are throughout the rooms to ensure everyone was comfortable.

The accommodations are perfect for beach lovers. Everything you need to start your ocean adventure is either within the condo or very very near by. The snorkeling out back was great as well as either north or south. The weather is the best on Maui. We loved the ton of fresh fish in the area. Miso Phat sushi was my favorite. But don’t forget the Fish Market right outside the driveway. Tons of food trucks. Thanks for letting stay in your bit of paradise. We snorkeled everyday. Mahalo

This Maui Sands home is the perfect get away! We would often think about going out about town, but decided the lanai wasn’t the perfect setting any time of day, especially early morning and sunset, or any time just watching for the abundant spouting whales!!Laying in the sea wall Star gazing was magnificent too. There were three of us sisters and friends and we were very comfortable. It was nice to have so much space and the kitchen is well stocked with essentials. Easy walk to the action along the boardwalk all the way to Whalers Village. We enjoyed the little strip malls very near and the food trucks were delicious and easy to bring back to the perfect beach front lanai. We are trying to figure out dates when we can return, but Shhhh don’t let the word get out that this place has spoiled us!!

Host was great in helping me reschedule because of a cancellation due to the Lock Down. I appreciate that. the condo is right next to the water. Doesn't get much better than that. I had to work some while in Maui but did not mind a bit because I was on the lanai soaking up the the sun, the magnificant views and the calming sound of the waves. The condo itself is well kept and stocked and is the perfect size for 4 people. I agree with other reviewers about the half bath with the electric toilet. Gross. I gave the condo 5 stars anyway because the smell went away after I shut the door. I kept the door closed and ignored the problem. This was no problem for me because I did not rent this place because of the half bath. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants a nice little spot next to the ocean.

This was exactly what we we had envisioned for our family to stay in while Maui. Waking up each morning to the sounds of waves crashing and the turtles feeding on the reef was such a treat to watch ❤️ The condo had everything you need for a trip to Maui. We will definitely be back!

We enjoyed our stay at the condo. It is conveniently located with quick access to beaches and Front St via a short drive. There is no beach outside the condo but the water seems great for snorkeling or swimming. The wind was blowing hard and the waves were big for our little ones (6 and 9) during our stay but Kapalua Bay Beach, Baby Beach and Black Rock Beach were just short drives away. The property contact for house cleaning was prompt and friendly to address issues. There is only one AC unit in the living room as noted by others but is consistent with most private properties located on a beach or coast line. We were comfortable during our October stay.
The condo was well equipped in the kitchen for cooking meals, stocked with linens, beach chairs, boogie boards etc. I recommend stocking up at Costco (right next to the airport) or the grocery store near the condo for your day to day needs like bottled water, eggs, sandwiches, and adult beverages, etc. The ABC store is also within walking distance for last minute needs or souvenirs. The Fish Market across the street from the property has great food too.
You cannot beat sitting on the lanai and listening to ocean right in front of you and viewing the stars.
Overall we had a great stay and the owners were friendly and prompt responding to questions.

First, the positive....
This is an excellent location, and the owners were extremely flexible when our plans changed & they responded promptly to all our communications, both before & during the stay.
There were some issues, however. First, and most important, is the claim that this condo is air-conditioned. Technically, it is, but the unit is a window-mount unit (mounted through a wall at the shore end of the unit) and is designed to cool 400-500 square feet. But the condo is probably closer to 1000 sf, & the bedrooms are at the extreme opposite end down a hallway. Thus, the AC never reached the 2 bedrooms.
Also, the condo is billed as two bathrooms. It was originally built as one bath (technically 3/4 because it has a shower but no tub), and it's clear during remodeling a second "bath" was added. This add-on bathroom is tiny w/only a sink and a toilet. That wouldn't be a problem except for a funky odor from half-bath, perhaps because it has an electric toilet. Because of the smell, we simply kept the door closed during our entire stay so we were in essence living in a single-bath unit.
Because of the inadequate AC, the 2 bedrooms had lots of fans - ceiling fans, floor fans, table fans. Some were very noisy, and some of the ceiling fans in the condo were not well balanced and made noise if we used them.
For people who are not tall (I am only 5-8, my wife 5-2), the dining surfaces were not comfortable. There's a high-top table in the dining area, as well as stools for the kitchen island counter. Neither of those was comfortable for either of us. There's a standard table on the lanai, but when the afternoon sun is shining on there (dinner time), it's too hot. The sofa and loveseat in the living room don't offer much support.
The kitchen faucet was funky. Originally, the pull-out sprayer wouldn't retract (I finally fixed that) but it would not stay in soft-spray mode and was difficult to regulate the pressure. So it took two hands to manage the faucet.
The sliding doors to the lanai were also problematic. Neither the glass door nor the screen operated smoothly - it took a LOT of effort to open the glass door (put all my weight into it). And the screen did not fit square to the frame, so it wasn't bug-proof.
If we didn't go in August, I guess maybe the AC would have been adequate. But we were a bit disappointed.
The owners are great, and very responsive. But we won't be staying in this facility again.

This property is amazing. We were greeted with the most beautiful sunset and gift basket. We are both teachers and we both needed a restful getaway after 1 1/2 years of teaching virtual. Doug and Gay have a well cared for condo. We enjoyed the closeness to the beach. We were able to sit on the back porch and watch the kids in the ocean. My husband and I stayed at Doug's property the first week of June, with our 2 teenagers. The condo is clean and well appointed with everything you need on your stay - not fancy, but comfortable. The condo is conveniently located close to many stores and restaurants - Fish Market, Java Jazz, Farmer's Market (acai bowls there are the best!), Times Market and more. The view from the lanai is stunning - we enjoyed many sunsets during our stay, and it was lovely to sit outside and enjoy the stars at night as well. The condo complex is older, but we liked that it was a smaller condo building, not crowded, and this property is right on the beach. We snorkeled on the reefs off the condo beach many times - saw lots of fish and as others have mentioned there are about 5 sea turtles that visit the reefs daily. We hope to be back, and stay at this property again!

All the amenities needed for a great vacation were available, fully stocked kitchen and bedrooms, beach gear and of course, the incredible views off the lanai. This was our second stay at this condo. We returned primarily for the beautiful view you see in the image the owner uses as his feature photo. Sadly the view and the enjoyability of the lanai is now negatively impacted by extremely moist conditions causing the seawall that keeps the ground in front of the condo (and eventually the condo I presume) from falling into the ocean. When we arrived, the grassy area in between the condo and the ocean was a large 15 foot long x 9 foot wide puddle in the morning that turned into thick, watery mud by early afternoon. A few days later, the entire area was roped off with bright yellow caution tape (designed to alarm and capture attention). After that, the beautiful relaxing view that we came back and paid a premium price for was no longer available as every time we looked out the windows from the condo, we looked first at the caution tape impeding our view. We were also told we could not walk on, or in any way use, the area in front of the lanai because it was dangerous to do so. In fact we were told by the manager onsite that the owners were in the process of applying for emergency permitting to begin construction in an attempt to remedy the problem. She also told us that there would soon be a "loud, stinky machine" in use adjacent to the condo. We thought perhaps she said that so that we would be less disappointed about the bright yellow caution tape and instead glad that it wasn't the machine we were having contending with. When we talked to the owner about what was happening he urged us to go enjoy the ocean views at one of the two decks on the property that those who have paid 1/2 the price of the ocean front units go to enjoy the ocean. He also said that the caution tape was low enough that it didn't obstruct the view and that there were other areas on the grounds for our 4 /12 year old son to play. We gave our stay a 2 star review for 3 main reasons:
1) The owner did not inform us of the issue; 2) The owners attitude regarding this issue, specifically his lack of concern that our stay at his condo was greatly effected in a multitude of ways by the seawall problems; 3) The owner has not disclosed the state of his condo as it relates to the deteriorating seawall on his VRBO listing so that those who are considering booking this condo can make an informed decision.

We were extremely happy with our stay in Maui Sands. The location is perfect - we've been to Maui several times before and this location was surprisingly close to everything we love. I loved hearing and seeing the ocean right outside the window. I sat on the lania for hours just relaxing and watch whales breaching and splashing - it was amazing!
The unit is very quiet - we only heard the people upstairs a few times, but overall they were fairly quiet and it was not bothersome. It's also very spacious - great layout and tons of space for our family of 4.
The weather was not the best during our stay - we had no breeze so it was uncomfortably hot at night for us. The ocean was pretty rough right outside the lanai but it calmed down on the last day of our vacation so we were able to check it out - it was miserably rocky. Definitely bring water shoes. We were so thankful to take advantage of the couple pairs available in the unit.
So many great options within walking distance - restaurants, beaches, etc. We grabbed dinner several times from the places across the street and my husband loved walking to the coffee shop each morning. We loved walking to the beach right next door as it had an area of shallow water protected by a seawall that was perfect for our children to play in. We walked there nightly to splash and watch the sunset - that was one of the best parts of our whole vacation.
The unit had everything we needed and was very well organized. The only negative thing I can say about this unit is the ants - there are warnings all over the kitchen about the ant problem and not leaving food/crumbs out. This proved to be quite an issue for us with 5 yo twins and it was really just annoying to be constantly dealing with ants.
Doug and Gay were extremely responsive and a true pleasure to work with. Thank you both!

We had such a fabulous time at your condo! Everything we needed was there - from beach towels to snorkel gear, from cooking pans to condiments. We started our day every morning with opening the large sliding door to hear the waves crashing on the reef outside. We swam with turtles and saw plenty of whales jumping out of the water... from our own little spot in paradise. We spent plenty of time traveling around the island, but the kids always wanted to head back to the condo to swim and snorkel. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience!

After some problems with the code getting in to the condo all our anxiety disappeared. We looked around to find a beautifully appointed home with everything you could need or ask for and then out the sliding doors to the lanai just feet from the ocean and our hearts soared. Our holiday in Maui was so enhanced knowing we were coming home each night to our own little piece of paradise. We just left this wonderful home yesterday. We had a great time with a good combination of beach, pool, relaxing, and adventure. The home was right on the water, so the kids (9 and 12) could play in the water while us parents watched from the lanai. Saw several sea turtles, which was a treat. A-MAZ-ING view and we enjoyed sunsets and rainbows every day! The condo's kitchen is well-stocked and when we had a little trouble finding the counter lights, the owner emailed promptly to advise me (look under the cabinets!). Beds are very comfortable. Neighbors were a mix of visitors and owners and were all polite and considerate. The house is sprinkled with polite notices from the owners about how to best care for the furnishings so as to leave it in the best possible condition for future guests. As a guest who benefitted from the kindness of those who came before me, it was our pleasure to cooperate. The parking spot is not far from the front door so it was easy to bring in groceries or our belongings after a long day away. The neighborhood is AWESOME: don't miss the tacos or the Fish Market in the little strip across the street! And the pie place on the road to Lahaina is fantastic!!! We would stay here on a future visit in a heartbeat and have already recommended it to 4 families who have Maui in their 2016 and 2017 plans. MAHALO !!!
Suggestion: a drying rack for towels and suits would be a welcome addition and wouldn't take up much space.

We couldn't believe the location! We were prepared for it to be one of those places where the pics aren't taken from your actual view but, they were! You can literally walk 15 feet from the lanai and be in the water. It's shallow enough to walk in unless you go out near the second reef which they don't recommend anyway. Yes, we saw the sea turtles! So nice!
There were 6 of us and this condo provided plenty of room for us all. The roll away beds are top notch for extra guests and so are the beds in each room. You can tell that the owners are very knowledgable about what things matter in a vacation home. They've got all components to make it the perfect place.
We stopped by the store near the airport but didn't need to. There are two grocery stores nearby and several little markets just across the street. Nice kitchen, do not bring spices as they have enough to season the entire island of Maui!
Most amazing restaurant -Arias in Wailuku. It's about an hour away but I promise you it's worth it! They have something for everyone on their menu and it's that home style cooking that feels like it's your great grandma in the kitchen makin something amazing.
Just go there, trust!
Our favorite thing about this condo was that it was located in an area that is very chill. Not a lot of special attention paid to our family for being on holiday which is what we wanted. We just wanted to be and we were.

Perfect, Perfect, Perfect....You cannot get better than this condo. You are bottom floor corner unit on the ocean. We got up every morning and opened the sliding doors on the lanai, and we literally lived on the lanai. There were days we did not leave the condo because everything we needed was on our street. We walked to the farmers market Mon-Wed and Fri got fresh fruit and veggies. There is a natural store to the left as you leave the condo, and a grocery store to the right. There is a WONDERFUL fish market right across the street. Lots of places to eat left and right of the condo.
The condo's interior is really upscale. You will think you are walking into a 5 star hotel. Everything is so beautifully done. The pictures do not do it justice. We were in heaven.

Doug and Gay were awesome. We had a few things we reported to them that wasn't working ( ice maker, dishwasher and internet was slow) -They were on the phone with me and it was repaired the next day. The ice maker replaced, the dish washer was fine, we pressed the wrong buttons or something and the cable people said they needed to upgrade, so it was all taken care of, just like that. Doug and Gay were very grateful that I let them know and was apologetic that there was these small problems. They wanted my stay to be 5 star and it totally was. I reassured them, it was the best place to stay. I can't say enough about the place, and I can't thank Doug and Gay enough. I stayed 2 weeks for my 50th Birthday, and I was not disappointed! I would totally stay here again! and Highly recommend this condo!

Our party arrived in two different days & we had some last minute requests (such as arriving a day earlier than expected). They were very accommodating, which made the trip much less stressful. We were with the whole family for most of the trip & we fit comfortably (the 4 of us).
The kitchen was wonderful, & that combined with the farmers market & ABC store within walking distance, made it easy to get breakfast & lunch there & save on meals.
It was clean & very well maintained & comfortable.
What can't be put into words is the magic of the ocean so close by. We saw it nearly all day long out of the main window. It was only steps away. We saw sea turtles regularly.
This is a truly special & amazing place. It was also within walking distance to many restaurants. I felt like part of the neighborhood.
The two small details were that the queen bed was a bit uncomfortable after 4 nights, & we felt better after switching to the twin beds, which were quite comfortable. (A latex mattress topper would be a quick fix in that). Also my father had a broken pelvis a few weeks before the trip, & while he lived the pool, the parking was a bit far from the unit. So for someone with disabilities it may be a little difficult to navigate.

Great condition and great location. Located within short driving distance to all Kaanapali Resort happenings and walking distance to so good local food, shops, groceries. Awesome to get the open views, sea breeze, and waves right from the living room to patio. We enjoyed the snorkeling and swimming right out the back and the short drive to great beaches for boarding, snorkeling (daily turtles, and fish), and chilling. Owner was pleasant and easy to deal with. Overall it was a fantastic vacation!

Feels like home. Everything is there from spices to snorkeling supplies. View is amazing. We wake up every morning with the nice view of Moloka'i and ocean, and of course the smooth sounds of wave. My husband and kids loves the stayed there. Fish market just across the street and just a phone call and food is ready. It was a great vacation for us, from a feels like home place to adventures we did close by like surfing, zip lining, road to hana, luau and hanging out in different beaches besides the one outside the condo. My kids wake up and straight to the beach, that's how convenient this condo. Thank you!

We chose to take our first big family vacation in Maui and I am so glad we chose this condo for our lodging. We had a wonderful time here. The condo was well beautiful and well appointed and the proximity to the ocean was perfect. I saw whales off the back patio and turtles swimming around right off the lanai. We were able to do some nice snorkeling there when the tide was right and the sound of the ocean surf was very soothing. I would highly recommend this property.
