We had an excellent stay. Owners were available via phone when we checked in, as the lock one hadn’t been updated, but fixed immediately.
The condo fit all five of us (2 parents and 3 teenagers) nicely since there’s a fold out couch. All the amenities are in the condo that one could want, including perks like snorkeling gear and beach chairs/ towels.
The grounds are beautiful and kids loved the pool. We noticed a ton of families with little ones, too- good for all ages! Immediate access to the beach was also great.
The beach walk along the shore was an excellent perk, where we walked all the way down to Whalers Village- a great spot for shopping, coffee, and restaurants. (About 1.5 mi down). Of course Dukes is right by the pool too, which was a great spot to get poolside drinks and dinner without going anywhere!
The condo was also nicer than most other hotels along the way, so we were super happy with the choice! We would 100% return. Aloha!

This property was perfect. We spent end of July early August island hopping and stayed here for our time on Maui. The double king beds were great and the kids (9 and 11) slept on the couch. Beds were comfy, loved that name brand toiletries were available to use. Plenty of towels and kitchen bad everything we needed to prepare meals. Having chairs, boogie boards and a cooler ready for us to use was awesome! The beach does have rocky areas so wear some sort of secure water shoes. The pools were a hit. We went down at 10am one morning and I expected every chair to be “claimed” there were plenty open. Great trip and would absolutely use this property again for my family.

We loved this condo and the resort property, it was perfect for a family.
The condo was spacious and had everything you need, it even had a large selection of snorkel gear in the closet.
We loved coffee on the large Lanai.
The resort pools were wonderful.
The staff at the resort was great. We stopped at Costco on our way to the resort and the Valet guy took all of our supplies to the room in large bins !!
Another thing we loved was the Beach Towel Dispensers, you could get fresh beach towels anytime you wanted, day or night, and there were always plenty of clean towels available.
There is a large store in the other property building, short walk, with anything you might need, without having to get in the car and head out.

We loved staying at Honua Kai! Unit 410 was perfect for our group of 6. Everything was clean and exactly and described. The resort was wonderful. We loved having Duke’s on-site. We would love to come back and stay here again.

We loved our stay at this property. It was just as described. The location is what I wanted, walkable to many places and short drive to others. The unit was supplied with all the essentials. The coffee shop in the lobby doubles as a convenience stop and is owned by friends of mine so that was a fun plus!
Having Dukes on property makes it idyllic!

Maureen's condo did not disappoint!! We started every day with coffee on the lanai overlooking the ocean. We saw whale's every day!! We had an issue with the dryer the second day there but Maureen was very responsive and had the property management up and they fixed the issue immediately! Her unit is nicely located on the quiet side (away from the pools) but a short distance to get to them and to Duke's! We would definitely visit again and recommend this property to all friends!

We loved this property! We have stayed at Honua Kai before so we knew we would love the pools, restaurants, and common spaces. This unit did not disappoint!! The location is perfect and has convenient access to an elevator for the pool or parking garage. We loved the easy check in process and combination door lock. The owner got right back to me when we had a small question. Beds were comfortable and everything was great! We loved watching the whales play while we ate breakfast. Amazing experience here! We didn’t want to leave!

We had a fantastic time! The property was perfect for the grandparents in one room, us in the other, and our kids on the pullout. The washer and dryer made the clothes a little smelly but the kitchen was fully stocked for cooking all meals. The view and open wall to the patio was incredible! We loved the grounds and beach just make sure to bring water shoes because the coral is bad!

My husband and kids and I enjoyed our stay here. Pros: Lots of space to spread out, beach equipment (chairs, boogie boards, snorkling gear), towels provided at the pool, Duke's Restaurant (we ate here twice!), and the beach view. Cons: The condo is showing some wear and tear - there is a burn stain on the carpet and couch, the carpet is dirty in places, etc. I would definitely still rent here again though. The check in was simple, the kitchen was nice to have, the place itself has an awesome pool and nice staff. I would definitely recommend stopping for groceries on your way in. We were tired and had to go back out again, which I would avoid next time. There is a food truck parking lot within a short walk that we enjoyed along with Dukes and driving into Lahaina for an afternoon. My kids' favorite part was boogie boarding in the awesome waves at the beach. We even saw 2 sea turtles swim by as we sat on the beach! We also drove to the Maui Ocean Center one afternoon and enjoyed a stop at the pie shop on our way back. Convenient location and beautiful sunsets and nice pool amenities.

We got a great deal on this property for our Thanksgiving week stay during the Maui Invitational. Check-in was easy and we enjoyed the amenities of the resort. The room was a bit outdated in the centralized living area (furniture and carpet) compared to other properties we saw in the Konea tower - that was the only downside.

What an amazing time our family of four had at this property. The condo is spacious and is situated on the more peaceful side of the resort but still with gorgeous ocean views. The condo was beautiful and well stocked with starter supplies. The host accommodated our change of plans. One thing to note, these pics are pretty old. There is a newer Westin hotel right outside the lanai. The 'long' ocean view is no longer there. There is an ocean view, just not what these pics show. Grounds of the property were very well kept.
One tip, park in the underground lot, drive to the back left side. Go up that elevator and youll be very close to the room. It took us 2 days before figuring this out.

We loved this condo! The space was just the right size for us three and the balcony was awesome. The location was perfect for walks along the beach, snorkeling and just hanging out at the pools. It was very convenient to have Duke's on property, and we took advantage two nights of getting food to-go from there. The little grocery / coffee bars on site were life savers for last minute items or an early morning treat. Would def stay here again.

Perfect spot for us; parents (seniors), son & daughter-in-law (thirty-somethings), and grandkids (9 & 6). Very comfortable, cozy, private and safe. Cooked all our meals in nicely stocked kitchen. We felt very much at home and enjoyed the amenities. Kids loved the pools, the fresh towels were wonderful, multiple hot tubs were awesome (especially for our skinny 6-year old who got cold easily), and grounds were magnificent. Fabulous beaches all around with fun snorkeling, boogie boarding, swimming and sunbathing. This was a vacation we will always remember.

We stayed here the first week of October. The property was very nice, comfortable, and well furnished. We particulary appreciated the patio doors that fully opened for our Ocean View.
We found this location to be excellent. Great walking on the Boardwalk, proximity to the restaurants and shops in Lahaina, and even a good walk to Maui Brewing (about 2 miles).
We did an even split of eating in and out. I really appreciated the fully furnished kitchen the provided everything we needed to make a variety of dishes. Oh, also appreciated the gas grills for cooking our delicious grass fed Hawaiian Ribeyes!
Highly recommend this property for a great Maui vacation.

This is a great location, nice complex and clean fully stocked, standard unit. If you bring children, you’ll love all the kids at the pool. Pool water murky, beach great. Bonus…Dukes restaurant/bar on property. Make reservations 30 days in advance of stay. Check in was rough, owner not responsive at all or available during course of trip. They did not have our reservation at check-in due to listing info being incorrect. Waited 1.5 hours, after after traveling eight hours to get sorted out, while $600.00 worth of groceries melted in the sun. Verify BEFORE arrival with property manager (did not have our reservation) and hotel (also did not have our reservation) not owner that they have your keys and reservation for check-in.

We are two families with children under 5 who stayed in Maureen's 2 bed 2 bath unit. The unit is probably close to 1800 sq feet and we fit comfortably two strollers and all. Open kitchen layout with fully furnished everything including grilling supplies. We made frequent use of the industrial grade Bosch washer and dryer. Bedrooms and en suite bathroom have jacuzzi tubs, stand up shower, dual sinks, and shower stuff (shampoo, conditioner, body wash). Baby pack and plays are in room. We opened the pack and play for child to sleep and room still is spacious enough for dancing. There is a closet full of beach toys- chair, snorkel, fins, boogie boards. Yes there is wifi and TV but rarely used because we weren't having so much fun. There is a lanai with doors that fold open. The view is partial ocean and partial adjacent development where a Starwood timeshare is being built. They mostly work in the mornings so there is some noise. Dinner on lanai is possible but honestly we liked dining poolside at the grille. There are three pools and many hot tubs. The pools can be a tad chilly. The ocean (at least now) is warmer than the pool. Snorkeling right off this beach and at the Westin slightly south is unbelievable! Body surfing is also tremendously fun here because there are waves as they land on the rocks. A sandier portion of the beach can be found on the South end and also on a portion of beach by the Westin. Maureen is a gracious host and with a quick text got us extra beach towels. Would happily come back. Mahalo!!

This was our first visit to the Honua Kai and we will definitely be back! The unit was immaculate and no detail was overlooked, every amenity was considered. We were able to move right in and enjoy all the comforts of home while on vacation. We were concerned about the construction of the new hotel next door but with lanai doors shut we didn't hear any noise. We hadn't heard anything about the beach and thought we would have to walk a bit down to Airport Beach but that wasn't the case, the snorkeling just to the left of the hotel was truly amazing! The Kahekili Marine Reserve has done a tremendous job and the coral reef and marine life is abundant and thriving. Our family thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling outside the hotel. The newly completed beach walk was an added bonus. The great news was that the pool wasn't the main attraction for our kids. They enjoyed the waterslide but the pool is more suited for younger kids (under 5 and non-swimmers) and adults to relax and lounge. Dukes on the property was an added bonus! We recommend this unit to everyone, especially those traveling with children (any age) or a parent. We had a wonderful time and hope to stay in the unit again soon!

We just returned from our stay at this beautiful resort in June. The Honua Kai resort is right on the beach and the grounds are beautiful, multiple winding pools, lush landscaping, tall palm trees. Duke's restaurant is on site and a great place to eat and enjoy the sunsets. At night, they light tiki torches so the environment is really very cool. There is a long winding boardwalk next to the beach, where at night you can stroll for miles from one resort to the other.
The owner clearly stated in her description that there is construction going on next to the resort, which is true. The patio off the unit faces it. While you can't really hear it, you can see it and it creates a soft layer of dust on the patio. We got used to it pretty quick. The condo itself more than made up for it, plus the owner offered the unit at a discount. A similar unit not facing the construction was hundreds of dollars more a night. We spend most of the time at the pool, at the beach or crusing around the island. So by the time we got back to the condo, work had ended.
The condo itself is beautiful. It is very well decorated and the furniture is upscale. Plenty of room for a family of 4 with TV's in the living room and both bedrooms. Also having very nice bathrooms in each of the bedrooms was great. You will really like the resort, the location, the landscaping and the beach. Aloha.

We found the property very nice and well kept. The room itself was clean and roomy. We had two bedrooms and two large bathrooms so no one had to sacrifice for the lesser room. They were both just as nice.
There was plenty of soap, shampoo, conditioner etc as well as hair dryers. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. The closet had chairs, cooler, umbrella, sand toys and even snorkeling gear. We brought our own but if we hadn't we would have been covered.
The beds were comfy and the rooms had enough space to store clothes and suitcases out of the way so we could keep everything tidy.
There was construction going on outside the patio doors but the noise was minimal and my grandson loved to watch the cranes each morning before we would leave for our day.
Everything was perfect and we enjoyed our stay very much. We will remember this place to come back to again.
We highly recommend you take the time to go on the Road to Hana. Great adventure. We left the hotel at 5:30AM and got back at 5:30PM. Sounds like a long day but it flew by. We also saw the sunrise from Mt. Haleakala which was a real treat. Leave by 3:30AM to get there on time. Front Street is enjoyable. We had wonderful hamburgers at Cool Cats right across from the Banyan Tree. Go just before Sunset so you can hear all the Mayna birds in the tree as they settle in for the night.
Our favorite beach was just north of there. It is called Napili Bay. Beautiful beach and the snorkeling was great. Whaler's Village area also has a nice sandy beach. The beach at this hotel was good too but not as sandy as some of the others. Great if you want to find fun creatures though. At night we saw so many crabs crawling around as well as frogs. Really fun for the kids.

The owner and property manager were amazing to deal with. The unit was clean and comfortable with all the ammenities you could ask for. The property is right in front of an amazing reef that goes all the way to Black Rock - so you can snorkel from your condo without having to drive to find a spot! We couldn't ask for more! We stayed in this Honua Kai condo the first week of September 2013. We could not have been happier with our time there. It was very easy booking through Maureen and VRBO as she was extremely helpful and responsive. We had no issues and no surprises.
The condo itself was exactly as described - very clean, welcoming, and with all the comforts of home. The furnishings were very well maintained and comfortable. The condo is very spacious for 2 people with a beautiful view from the lanai. We were surprised by how much of the ocean we were able to see and enjoyed taking it all in with breakfasts in the morning. We had everything we could have possibly needed in the condo - including kitchen items, laundry, towels, beach chairs, and boogie boards.
The resort itself is wonderful. We enjoyed the location which is very close to Lahaina town. There are also a few good spots within walking distance for breakfast and grocery items. The pools on-site are great - clean with lots of chairs available and very beautiful landscaping. You can't beat the beachfront location with easy access to the beach from different spots on the property.
Having Duke's on-site is also another plus. We enjoyed a few dinners and lunches there and found the staff to be very courteous and responsive.
Overall, we were extremely pleased with our stay and would highly recommend this to any one interested in going to Maui. We stayed for 4 nights out of 7 on the island and wish we had stayed more. We will definitely do so on our next visit!

My wife and I spent a wonderful week in June of this year. From the very start, everything went flawless. Our initial contact with the owner, Maureen, was quick and informative. She was very helpful and easy to talk to. Due to an airline cancellation, we were delayed getting there, and Maureen was flexible and cooperative. The description was accurate,and the unit was immaculate. Michelle met us in the lobby and gave us a thorough tour of the unit. We only had one very minor issue, and Michelle responded quickly. I would highly recommend staying there.
There is not much more I can add to the other reviews about Honua Kai. It is a wonderful resort, with beautiful landscaping and located right on a quiet beach. My wife and I walked every morning to Whaler's Village, which was a great way to start the day.The first night, we picked up food at Aina's Gourmet Market and it was excellent. We stopped at the Safeway in Lahaina and picked up breakfast food for the week. We enjoyed the well equipped kitchen and ate breakfast there every morning. We also utilized the washer and dryer, and it allowed us to pack more lightly. The beach chairs and boogie board were most appreciated since you would be charged if you did not have those items.
We rented a car, and I would recommend it. We were able to drive to Hana, various snorkleing locations, Haleakala Crater for a sunset---it was awesome---and a number of restaurants. Some of the restaurants I would recommend are Mama's Fish House, Sansei Seafood Restaurant, Duke's, Honokowai Okazuya & Deli, Teddy's Burgers, Ohana Tacos, and the Fish Market.
In summary, our trip was fantastic and we would definitely return to Honua Kai, and Unit #316. Thank you Maureen, and Michelle.

The listing and pictures were right on the mark. Any questions that I had were quickly answered by the owner and her manager and they were also concerned enough to check how our stay was and how it could have been better at the termination of our stay.
Just you and the companion or you and the six kids - the best kind of place to stay. Mom and Dad can swim in the ocean and the kids get a choice of three pools. Toys (flippers, paddleboards, floats) are available for a nominal fee. For lazy people, loads of places to lay in the sun.
Maui is expensive so the fully equipped kitchen was a heavan sent, expecially with young one. Beds are like sleeping on clouds and I wish I knew where the owner got the most comfortable pillows. Shopping and fast food is a ten minute walk to a shopping mall with a large grocery store. As a Northerner I can olnly say that life couldn't get any better with the perfect weather, fantastic well maintained condo, great facilities. Book with confidence,...........

My family and I had a lovely 18 day stay at the above property in March/April of 2013 and had a very positive experience.
Beginning with the rental process, all our inquieries were answered promptly and correspondance with the owner was warm and courteous. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the manager of the property without delay. The condo was very clean and well equipped, including all necessary household items such as detergent, papertowels etc, which instantly helped the housewife in me to settle into the advertised "home away from home" feeling. An added bonus were the lawn chairs, boogie boards and cooler we were allowed to use on our excursions to Maui's beautiful beaches.
The condo is facing away from the pools and thus is indeed quiet and has an almost secluded feel to it. You can see the ocean from the balcony, but will have to go downstairs to the beach to see the sunset. Honua Kai itself is a wonderful place, especially if you have children. During our stay in Maui we did not come across another resort with such a fun and big pool area, and often chose to relax right there. The beach was lovely; it was never crowded, very gentle waves and even some decent snorkeling. And whales swimming by every day!
We would highly recommend Honua Kai and the condo we stayed in. If you like contemporary, tasteful decor and new and modern amenities, you will be very pleased with this property, and share our great vacation experience.

It is quiet and relaxing with a nice view of both the mountains and the ocean. The lanai is amazing, with the doors all the way open it is like having an outdoor living room! Our family of four (2 adults, 2 children ages 10 and 7) fit in the space very well. We loved the whole resort. It is a luxurious complex on a great beach and close to many other great spots. The busier Kaanapalli strip is minutes away by car and a healthy walking distance along a beautiful boardwalk. There is great snorkeling at Napili Bay and Kapalua Bay which are only a short distance away, as are the shopping and dining areas in Lahina. Our kids loved the different pools and the beach just in front of the resort. Exercisers will enjoy the gym or running on the beach or boardwalk. This is our third trip to Maui and we cannot recommend this place enough. Maureen was very easy to work with, reserving, checking in and out were a breeze. We can't wait to come back!

The unit was exceptionally clean and nicely decorated. Everything we could want was available. The owner was very helpful, answering all our questions promptly and completely. I would feel very comfortable recommending this rental to friends and family.

We stayed here for part of our honeymoon and had a lovely vacation. The condo is new, clean and the bathroom is HUGE. The location is perfect for exploring the island and we enjoyed having use of pool towels and the resorts many pools. Make sure you have breakfast at Duke's, but skip the super expensive little deli/coffee shop in the lobby. The condo looks out on an empty lot next door that will soon be a new resort. The entire wall of windows in the living room opens up to let in the cool breezes.

We couldn't have been happier with our experience staying at this rental at Honua Kai. We had never been to Hawaii before and the entire experience -- the rental unit, the hotel, the weather, the scenery, and all the time we spent at the pools and beaches -- far exceeded our expectations. Everything was clean and easy to use, and we grocery shopped and ate virtually all of our meals in the condo, enjoying the use of a well-supplied open kitchen, and the breezy lanai where we sat and ate our meals. The hotel pools were varied in both function and temperature -- what a delight to our senses (and those of our toddler)! We loved the restaurant at the hotel (Duke's) walking/running the adjacent beach walk, seeing whales, and accessing the beautiful beach within steps of our room.
The location of the hotel is quite lovely. Just about 10 minutes from downtown Lahaina where we enjoyed several ice cream outings and other sundry shopping. And, we were walking distance from the grocery store!
Booking the rental with Maureen was easy. She made herself available and clear, and was very accommodating when our second payment was strangely lost in the mail to her. We were given great directions from the airport, and were greeted by her knowledgeable and friendly personal concierge.
We loved every minute, and only wish we would go back every year! We are already saving our $$ for another trip in a few years, and will definitely book this rental with Maureen again. We'll also recommend this rental to our friends traveling to Maui.
Our only two small complaints: 1. We wish the hotel had a lap pool, or an area designated for lap swimming. We did our daily laps, but had to meander around families playing water polo. Maybe the hotel will build one?? and 2. We got a lot of attitude at Aina -- the small, upscale grocery store and coffee shop inside the hotel. Not only is it crazily expensive, but the staff is rude. Definitely skip it. Go to Safeway or Times grocery stores and stock up, or go to Duke's just outside by the water -- the staff there is lovely and the food and drinks are great.

We loved everything about Honua Kai...the pools, Duke's Restaurant, the onsite store...it was all great! The rooms are very nice. We definitely recommend it!

We have stayed in a few condos or private homes in Hawaii, but not resort hotels. We like the advantages each has to offer, but thought about staying in a resort hotel this trip. The condos were much more reasonably priced so we changed our minds and decided to rent this one at Honua Kai. It was the perfect blend of condo and 4 star hotel. Honua Kai has several pools, the staff is very nice, the grounds are immaculate, the concierge was helpful, and they have tons of activities available. I recommend the welcome breakfast the day after you arrive so you can find out what activities are available.
This unit #316 was excellent. It was clean, beautifully decorated, and looks just like the pictures. The bathroom is huge! The lanai is private and it was very quiet on this side. The view is partial ocean as pictured. You didn't feel like you had anyone looking in, but the vacant lot is not the prettiest view. I missed being able to hear the ocean from the room as I have in other properties, but the quality of the condo was much better than others we have stayed in and worth the trade-off. The pool was a little on the cool side so we didn't spend as much time in it as we thought we would. The hot tub was just right, not as hot as some, but comfortable for relaxing, and there are several hot tub areas. The boardwalk was a nice place to walk in the mornings. We saw huge Sea Turtles just up the beach to the North of the property. Snorkeling at Black Rock is convenient, but the day we went we hardly saws anything. Drive up to Honolua Bay to see more fish. It isn't far to the Nakalele blowhole which is also worth seeing. It is a short hike to get the best view and the heart shaped hole in the rock makes a good picture.
Maureen and Michelle were easy to work with and answered all our questions. I like the added amenities that may not be found at other condos or hotels, such as a laundry room, in-room safe, and large TV's. The beach chairs and boogie boards were an added bonus. The kitchen was well stocked and even had basics supplies like oil, butter or seasonings which we didn't end up bringing with us and didn't have to purchase. We arrived late on Thanksgiving night and were pretty hungry. Luckily the deli, Aina, was still open and they were so nice. The food was very good too. You can't beat the price for such nice accommodations. We were very happy with our stay and would recommend it to anyone.
