We loved our stay! We arrived to find everything exceptionally clean and we were so comfortable throughout our stay. We were just steps from the gorgeous beach, where you can see Molokai from the sand.
We were able to walk to restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores. We were also just down the street from the resorts so we were able to access those easily to eat or shop as needed. This was perfect for a couple and we would definitely return again!

We loved our stay at Hale Kai #103. The building itself is in a really great location of West Maui adjacent to Honokowai Beach Park and close to the best beaches like Ka'anapali, Napili, Honolua, etc. Unit #103 is situated right at the water's edge and next to the park so the kids can climb the tree, search for shells, play at the park, and with the reef so close to the sand, it provides a nice barrier for younger kids to play in the surf safely. The pool is nice and overlooks the water. Plus the condo itself had all the amenities one would need for their stay in Hawaii.

We arrived the day of the firestorm. It was WINDY coconuts were falling on the road. We had no electricity or communication and worst no propane (we heard that they've been out of propane for 2 wks) residents were preparing their food going down to the BBQ to find out there was no way to cook their food- We had to toss eggs & shrimp etc. Thankfully Latino mkt opened Wednesday and we got 2 cans of bean, tortilla, cheese to make a burrito which was our only meal on Wed & Thurs - We weren't able to do any of the tourist things & understandably not at no fault of Hale Kai. Don the Mgr? at the condos was as helpful as he could be. The radio kept saying for road conditions go to but that was impossible with NO internet. Don would pass on what he heard. We got a flight out on Friday morning. So please take this into consideration when you read my answers to the question. We weren't able to go anywhere. Luckily the people where nice & the place/view was comforting. I'm sure any other time I'd give it a 5 star....maybe 4 because the propane would have help numerous guest.

If there wasnt a toddler upstairs wailing and running around the entire time, it would have perfect. I love kids but next time I book, it will not be on the bottom floor. Live and learn!! I cannot say enough good things about this condo. It's location is the BEST in Maui. I could be bias as we haven't stayed anywhere else but I don't think we ever will. We checked out the high priced resorts and we knew we got the better deal.
While there are no private beaches in Maui, our back yard felt exclusively yards. Often we were the only ones out there, or shared with a fun of the other condo families. It was perfect.
The overlooking pool chairs were amazing for viewing turtles and I'd imagine whales if you travel during the right time. The pool was great to chill in when the beach seemed too much to do (haha).
Easy parking. Easy walk to our favorite Maui farmers market! Avocado sandwich! And so much more.
The condo was pristine and clean. Very well organized for visitors to feel at home. Often the clutter while traveling overwhelms me but these owners thought of everything! There were so many empty baskets, decorative bowls and plates throughout to help stay cleaned and organized. The kitchen was well stocked. Cards to play, chairs to sit, boogie boards. Everything was thought out. I may be the only one to appreciate the organization of this condo but I APPRECIATE IT!
I almost didn't want to review this so I can keep it to myself. But, I guess I'll share! MAHALO and AHOLA till next time! AND THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME!

Loved the area. More residential than commercial, which was perfect for us. The bedrooms were nice! We loved being able to leave all the windows open. The pool is right on the ocean. The little beach there is only accessible at low tide, which was fine for sticking your feet in. There's no a/c, so people need to know that. It was fine for us. The beds were okay. The bed in the loft is a bit hard for my taste. The location was perfect. Our trip to Road to Hana was amazing! We were there for my son's wedding and it was a perfect setting. We enjoyed the aquarium.

We had such a wonderful stay here. This was our first time to Maui and first time traveling with our kids! We knew we needed space and this gave us just that. Not to mention incredible views from the balcony and the pool area. Having the beach just outside the condo was magical and made for convenient evening swimming with the littles! I am very disappointed with the cleanliness of the condo -The fans were so dirty and full of lint that I chose not to use them. (guest services quickly replaced the dirty fans) -Curtains in the bedrooms and living room had a lot of dirt and big stains -the couch, chair and chairs in the dining room had big stains If the above would have been cleaned and had clean curtains I would definitely give it a higher rating

The linens are top notch, great set up in the kitchen with all the appliances you could need. Boogie boards and beach chairs are in the closet as well as beach towels for everyone in your party. The location is fine, and the beach on the right side of the condos was nice. Not overly crowded and we saw sea turtles, which was great. The description of the property made it seem that there were fans in the room and plenty of them…..this is inaccurate. Yes, there was a ceiling fan in the living room and bedroom that did absolutely nothing to cool the place down. There were no other fans in the unit. The condo was hotter than the outside temperature and NEVER cooled off now matter how many windows we opened. For us it was miserable. I will never stay anywhere that doesn't have air again. In addition, there is no laundry room in the unit, but a community coin laundry across the complex. The listing also made it seem that there were resident BBQs, however there are only two which again were located on the other side of the complex that to be honest we weren't sure if they were for the residents of our condos or the ones next door. Lastly, the shower temperature would be freezing and then turn extremely hot all of sudden and then go cold again. The unit was clean although we couldn't find a broom and would have liked to have swept after the beach days.
To that note, my perfect stays was very helpful, friendly, and accommodating. While we would not stay at this particular place again we would definitely use my perfect stays again. They let us access the unit early when we arrived prior to 4 which was awesome. The person I spoke with (Debbie) was wonderfully friendly and helpful. When we entered the room they had even left some snacks and had a concierge available to help us book things to do.

We rented this condo for our wedding week in Maui. I LOVE that it is more secluded than on a resort, we basically had the whole pool to ourselves for the week! The unit is nice and well equipped with things you would need everything. I loved the Lani, minus that the beach was loud really late at night and really early in the morning. It is a very walkable area which was really nice.
The only reason I took away a star is because the beach is not the best. The park is dirty, rocky, and LOUD all day and night. There is a small sliver of beach on the property, but rockier than other areas.

Our family of 5 stayed here comfortably. The unit is spacious and we never felt on top of one another. Plenty of necessities to get you by for the first few days, including all of the beach chairs and umbrellas. Walking distance to so many good places to get coffee and eat great food. Great views, clean and quiet. The property is VERY well cared for. Having the pool was also nice when we were tired of being in the ocean. Pictures are accurate besides the bunk beds, they are now separate twin beds. The ONLY downside is how hot it gets (not the owner's fault). The condo would definitely benefit from an a/c unit. We will be back again and will not hesitate to book this condo!

Rented 1 bd condo for a week. Located right along the beach park/ocean. It was the best location, walkable to several restaurants and listening to the ocean at night. Condo was relatively quiet too except the occasional kid up at 4 am- poor parents. Condo itself is clean, simple but has everything for basic cooking. Our kids slept on the fold out couch- not comfy, but they didn’t seem to care. Bed was decent. Not squishy so that was good. Would stay again!

We stayed in unit 104. I found this condo unit lacking in privacy and security. The unit is just feet away from a public park with park visitors sitting uncomfortably close to our door. In the evening, it is dark which does not allow for us to see out, but park visitors can easily look into our unit. The front door of this unit had a very flimsy locking mechanism.

We were a group of 4, 2 couples and everyone loved the stay in Hale Kai. The condo is beautifully appointed enough kitchen tools, bath and beach towels, 4 newer beach chairs, snorkeling gear, and a large cooler. Loved the location, being next to the park gave a more open feeling. The views from the lanai/patio were great of the ocean. Great place to watch the ocean and have a morning coffee. The pool area was great for watching sea turtles, and whales frolicking in the ocean. To swim in the ocean it was easy access just a few steps from the pool. The complex is older but well maintained, the inside of unit has been updated with more than enough space for 4 adults.

I really didn’t want to write a review because everyone will want to stay here and then it won’t be available when I want to come back. This is my third stay at the Hale Kai. All were great, but I stayed on the side with a view of the park. This unit was so convenient to pool access and the beach where upon arrival we were greeted with a rainbow and a slumbering sea turtle on the beach. We saw breaching whales in the distance as well, but that is march in Maui. Probably not so much any other time of year.The actual accommodations were more than adequate. The dishes and silverware and whole condo had a theme. Beds comfy too. I even preferred to sleep on the couch. Great view and you are lulled to sleep by the waves.The locals that live in the building put up with us travelers and blow a conch at their sunset ceremony every night. Wanna feel like a local? Stay here. But save a week for me...

I stay at Hale Kai everytime I visit Maui. It's in a perfect location. Everything you'd need is within walking distance. Plus Maui has an exceptional transportation system and the bus stop is just steps away. The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. I always find the unit in spotless condition. My sister and niece traveled with me this year and are already talking about next year. We had a wonderful time. I can highly recommend Hale Kai if you're looking for a reasonably priced unit in a great location.

I’ve been staying at Hale Kai each year for about 10 years or more. Obviously I consider Hale Kai my home away from home. The condos have all you need, the pool is right there and a small private sandy beach (sometimes a turtle will come there to rest). Plus at night there is the fun conch hailing of the sunset.

I did a bad job of checking details while booking and being hot natured, was not wild when I discovered there was no A/C (totally my ignorance). However, once chatting with another guest about that, we managed things with the shades and windows and it worked out well. We even moved our bedroom mattress from the bedroom to the living room floor and slept there, able to hear the ocean while we slept which was AWESOME. I was able to cool down and enjoy the ocean sounds. We had some plumbing issues but again managed it and enjoyed our stay. Management will address those issues. All in all, really enjoyed our stay as we spent more time exployring Maui and not too much time in the room, but even the pool and small beach was enjoyable the short time we were at the VRBO.

We always enjoy our time at Hale Kai. The low key vibe and ever present surf sounds provide a great place to relax. The unit is homey and comfortable and the trade winds coming through the louvered windows keep you comfortable without AC.

Experience always good however 5 of our days really rained which cancelled many plans. Comfortable and clean and perfect location. Shower could be a lot hotter in the water dept. only fault. Maybe it was just a issue that week. Bed and linen super nice and extra blankets and pillows a plus. We own a beach rental in Cali so love to hear about the comfort aspects from our guess. Will be back. Mahalo.

First, this unit is managed by Hale Kai and that has definite advantages. Other units are VRBO and Aribnb and they don't have the IMMEDIATE response time for issues that hale Kai management provides. The bed was great, bathroom clean, everything functioned throughout the condo. Location was perfect for us-no stairs to get to the pool, beach or BBQ. Plenty of parking. We will return to this unit.

We all felt that the unit was not cleaned well before we checked in esp the floors. upstairs bath needs some work. The kitchen needs a larger bread board as well as some plastic wrap/foil and a couple covered Tupperware type bowls (there were no bowls with lids ) No extra sheets upstairs and I suggest one more roll of tp per bathroom as rolls were super small and very thin paper (we stayed 11 nights). Both bathrooms were completely out

Forgive any perception of hyperbole: this may be the best lodging value on the island. The complex is well kept and the pool water is crystal clear. Park a few paces from your clean and well-sized condo, feel the cool, gentle trade winds, hear the waves hitting the reef and shore, and adore the view of pool and beach from the patio or the living room. Chat up the neighbors, residents or regulars, for island scoop and hidden gems. See the sunset over Lanai and watch those same neighbors serenade the end of the day (or beginning of the night) with the Blowing of the Pu (conch-like shell). All living areas are comfy. Completely satisfied, with expectations exceeded.

Overall this place was great, very clean unit and no issues at all with the check in or out process. Pool area is wonderful overlooking the ocean. Walking distance to lots of locations to eat! Only negative was our extremely loud neighbours, unfortunately we could hear everything through our walls, so we got woken up many times :( Would go back though! As the neighbours were only a temp rental also.

As described in previous reviews, this location is perfect to enjoy the whole Maui experience! The condo itself is beautiful and a good size. The pool and private beach are perfect to relax by after a busy day exploring the island. The Farmers Market across the street only had coffee, but the Cruzin Cafe about a 5 min walk past it was a great quick-and-easy breakfast spot.
I truly wish I could give this place a 5 star review. Unfortunately we arrived late on Saturday night after waiting hours to pick up our rental car, and we walked into a dirty condo. No cleaning service had prepared it for our stay. There were dirty linens on the bed, wet towels on the floor, and the floors were messy. I tried called and texting the hosts to help me find clean linens so we could at least sleep, but because it was so late we did not get an answer. The next day they did rectify the situation and were genuine in their apology, which is the reason why they did not get a lower rating from us.

The condo was lovely in every way. We loved that we could look out the living room to the ocean. We have stayed in other units on this property, but so far liked this one the best. We hope to come back again and again. Having morning coffee at the beach and watching the turtles swim was indeed a beautiful escape.

The unit is well-located with a lovely view, a pool, and a small adjacent beach (usable more a low tide). It is a typical Hawaiian beach house, with jalousie windows that are a bit old-fashioned. There is no air conditioning, making the loft bedroom a bit warm during the day but the unit cools off nicely at night with lots of fans and ocean breezes. There are no curtains on most windows making it somewhat light at night and not totally private. The lighting is a little sparse, especially over the dining room area. The pool is quite cold. The management was very responsive and well-organized. The unit has a satisfactory kitchen, and parking was never a problem. Overall, it was a very good stay for our family of six.

Great stay for family vacation. Awesome amenities in condo. Used cooler and beach chairs. Kitchen stocked with cooking necessities. Close to beach. My only complaint was the heavy footsteps upstairs and constant banging of patio door from upstairs. We were gone for most of the day so it wasn’t a huge deal.

Great location. Walking distance to coffee, food and grocery. Beautiful views and close beach/park access. Great for kids! Bonus loft in Unit 213 which is listed as "sleeps up to 4 adults" but can accommodate more if utilizing the loft space. However, I'm sure there is a cap on occupancy per unit. My 14 year old daughter was thrilled she didn't have to share a room with her younger brothers :) Happy family = happy vacation!
