Over all very good. The location was what just what we wanted it was like having the entire beach to ourselves. Unfortunately, the pool was being worked on the whole time we were here, and there was quite a bit of road noise from the highway. But you don’t go to Hawaii and just stay in your condo you gotta get out.

We enjoyed our stay and a change of venue after the craziness of Waikiki and Oahu. The property was exactly as pictured and described in the listing. We appreciated having plenty of beach towels included with the condo. The beach is nice for walking and swimming, but not really a surfing beach, and a little narrow for laying out on the sand at high tide. A beach shower is available on the property, and the green lawn and pool are nice for relaxing right at your temporary "home." We used the bedroom and the fold out bed from the sofa, both were fine for comfort. The space is a little tight with the bed folded out, you will want to fold the bed up each morning.
A few things to consider: Kihei gets warm in the afternoons, with strong breezes from the west starting around noon, running into the evening, and the A/C does not keep the unit at 72° if that is your preference. There is traffic noise from the nearby road. and Hawaiians seem to keep hours with the sun, getting up around 6 and going to bed around 7 PM. The location at the north end of Kihei makes everything on the island accessible, with Kahului about 10 minutes drive away, 5 minutes or so to Kihei, and Lahaina about a half hour. The best shave ice on the island is about 5 minutes walk away, along with an ABC store. Groceries and a variety of restaurants are readily available in Kihei, and we were regulars at Cones on Kihei. The area around Kihei is pretty dry, not rainforest. We didn't need to contact Betty at all.

Chairs on the patio were comfortable. Enjoyed the outdoor grill area, grilled out almost every night with oceanfront dining – can’t be beat. Would have liked for the condo to be cleaned a little better but there were cleaning supplies so we were able to clean the kitchen and bathroom. This unit is one of the further back units so the road noise is pretty dominant during the day, but we were prepared for that. Quick fix at night was to use Bose headphones when going to sleep. It would be nice to have window shades or darker curtains as the sheer ones don’t do much to block out the light at night that comes from the property lights that are on all night – but eye shades helped with that as well. Queen bed was comfortable enough for me, but my husband wasn’t as comfortable as I was (personal preference). The events center next door didn’t ever bother us with noise this time (this is the 2nd time we’ve stayed at Nani Kai but in a different unit). There were a couple of events held there but it wasn’t an issue. Ryan, the handyman that was available, was very kind and always answered our calls and was helpful. It was nice to have 2 Beach chairs provided in the closet. The clothes basket in the closet was handy - walk just a few feet down the hall to laundry room. Was sure to bring quarters and it's super easy to do laundry. There was even some detergent in the unit so there was no need to have brought my own. The Nani Kai Hale complex is a great little gem in Kihei.

We had a wonderful stay as a family of 3 at this lovely condo. It was so wonderful to stay in Kihei and be steps from the water. We absolutely loved watching the sunrise on the mountain from the balcony. Betty was amazing with communication and so accommodating when it came to a change in our plans and staying an extra night. The room had everything we needed! it was quiet, peaceful, easy access.

Unfortunately, on day 1 the kitchen plumbing leaked. However, after texting Betty, she arranged for someone to do a temporary repair the same day but left us uneasy as there was still some small amount of continual leaking.

We loved our stay on Sugar Beach! The place was beautiful, and a great location for everything you would want to do on the island. We especially loved the beach and the pool. The outside BBQ and place to eat dinner were a great way to spend the warm evenings and watch the sunset! I highly recommend this place!

We cannot say enough good things about this condo! Betty’s place was the perfect spot for our honeymoon! The complex (Nani Kai Hale) is clean, well-kept, quiet, and in the most perfect location. We could enjoy a relaxing day on Sugar Beach or by the pool, or we could easily adventure out to other parts of the island. Everywhere we wanted to go was just a short drive away!
The condo itself was perfect for us! We loved waking up every morning hearing the waves crashing and seeing the west Maui mountains! Betty answered any our of questions quickly and provided detailed information that made checking in/out so easy!
The condo is well-stocked with everything you might want— beach chairs, a small styrofoam cooler, beach towels, kitchen basics, hair dryer, etc.
We highly recommend this spot for your Maui vacation!

This place was really nice and in a great location. Only complaint was the heat. Very hot in the bedroom at night, as AC is in the living room. I loved how close the water was and nice area to sit on the lawn right up from the beach. The pool was quite nice too. All around we were very happy with the place.

We found the location of the condo to be on a wonderful white sand beach that you could walk on both ways for miles which we did. It has a grassy area out front with great loungers and tables and chairs. People swam and boogie boarded right in the water in front of the property. There was also a nice pool for cooling off. There is an ABC store about a block away for convenience. Parking was easy. You could always find a decent spot.
The condo is well appointed with beach chairs, a cooler, and towels for use. Much appreciated. We had breakfast on the high table on the deck every morning looking at the gorgeous view of the ocean and hills. The galley kitchen has everything you need for your stay. There wasn’t many restaurants within walking distance so we prepared meals and snacks to go a lot at the condo. Two bathrooms was a treat although we mostly used the en-suite with a nice shower. Our only suggestion although not a complaint would be some black out blinds in the bedroom. It was beautiful and bright - even at 5am. Very clean space with newer furniture and air conditioning in the main part and fans in the bedroom.
We would rent Betty’s place again if ever back in Maui.

Excellent location! Easy access to the beach and highways. Guests and residents were all very friendly and welcoming. There is an ABC store just down the street, along with the best shaved ice on the island. There was jay enough room for our family of 3. There was a minor maintenance issue which the owner had taken care of right away. My only down item was the air conditioner didn’t reach the bedroom. There is a ceiling fan but I run hot so it wasn’t quite enough. Given that, I would absolutely stay here again.

The property is on a beautiful, quiet beach. We enjoyed the easy access to the condo and to the beach. A nice view from the balcony for coffee and meals. The condo's were probably built in the 80's, and has been kept in good condition. We enjoyed our stay.

We loved this location and the property--it was just outside of the busy Kihei strip, but really easy to get to it for restaurants, and was only a half hour from the craziness up in Lahaina and Kaanapali. The condo we rented from Betty was great! It was clean and we enjoyed having two bathrooms vs. the typical one. The unit also came "stocked" with some unexpected nice extras such as plastic wrap, aluminum foil, salt, pepper, and other kitchen staples like dishwasher soap & pods, trash bags, etc. Betty also has beach chairs in the closet you can use and as well as extra towels for the beach which we appreciated. We had one little problem and Betty had it resolved the same day---she is VERY responsive! The property is really nice too--located right on the beach, so easy to take long beach walks and get in the water which was nice. Had a pool which we never bothered to use and lounge chairs for guests to use to sit and listen to the ocean and watch sunsets. Used the outdoor grills once which was handy. We had no problems finding a parking space everyday which was nice too. Bottom line--highly recommend Betty's place and the property in general!

Betty was a great host, very responsive, and has a lovely place right on the beach that is out of the general tourist crowds but a shirt drive from anything a visitor may wish to see on the island. We loved our stay and are so grateful to Betty for sharing her property with us!

Great condo. Exactly as seen in pictures. Very well stocked. Owner is super easy to contact (if needed). Great location on Sugar Beach. Nicely maintained property. Not many restaurants to walk to. Had a wonderful time for 6 nights.
