Overall a nice stay. We had some issues upon check-in with the cleanliness of the condo. After contacting Vacasa who put us in touch with a local property manager we were able to get this resolved to our satisfaction. We loved the location and property as it’s right on the beach and had great amenities. We felt the condo was not well stocked with basic amenities we’ve had in the past. It seemed that whoever sticks and ensures the cleanliness of the condo fell short this time.

The view of the pool and beach is at your fingertips. Sitting on the Lani each evening watching the beautiful sunsets became one of our favorite things to do. The unit was adequate. The mattress was comfortable. We were disappointed with the spotty cleanliness and discomfort of the sofa and chair in the unit. We are not picky, but comfort and cleanliness are important to us.

The Kitchen is all new appliances, the A/C worked well, the patio has huge doors for getting some fresh air and views of the ocean. The pool and hot tube area was easily accessible and a good relaxing place. The location is center island, its a pretty good spot for day adventures around the island.

Great little sandwich shop on premises with super nice staff. The outside of the building does need some updating, but don’t let that deter you in any way. Only complaint would be checking in at the front office for parking permit… We love to explore, so the first couple days we were up and off the property before the office opened & returned after they were closed or when we did get a chance to go during the day the office was closed for Lunch. We never had an issue with parking, so it wasn’t a big deal. We would definitely stay here again!!

I was not notified in advance about the pool was closed for maintenance until I booked a non-refundable stay. What more, until 24 hours before I flew to Hawaii, that’s when I got a nice email “sorry, pool is closed” It could have been a better experience if I knew my choices in advance.

My partner and I really enjoyed staying here during our visit to Maui. The condo is nicely updated and was cleaned really well when we checked in. The balcony has a beautiful view overlooking the water and the pool. We spent each night enjoying the view and having a drink on our balcony. The kitchen was nicely stocked with everything you might need. There were beach chairs and a cooler in the closet which was a nice addition. Although we quickly noticed that both beach chairs had either a ripped handle or broken straps so they didn't stay closed and were impossible to carry to the beach.
The AC worked really well and kept the condo cool, especially when we closed the curtains when we weren't in the living room.
The pool and hot tub area were nice and never too busy. We were always able to find an open lounge chair. The ground are well maintained and the community was not loud at all.
There was always parking available and we never had to circle around to find a spot.
The only thing that was annoying was how early the check out was at 10 am, coupled with the fact that the cleaning crew showed up and rang the doorbell about 5 min before check out time which brought us a lot of anxiety and panic as we were already trying to gather garbage and finish up the last of the check out procedures.
Overall, I thought this was a really nice place and would stay here again next time I am in Maui.

The place was clean and comfortable. The glasses n cups had some stains on it, other than that everything was pretty clean. It was well stocked with all essentials, kitchen appliances and beach gear. The location was perfect, close to the beach and stores. The resort grounds, pool and hot-tub were great. The door code during check-in was incorrect. We spent a lot of time talking to the Vacasa people and trying the different codes they sent us. Finally one of their on-site crew came and helped us unlock the room door. This was the only hiccup during our otherwise lovely stay here. We hope to be back again!

This unit exceeded our expectations! Beautifully appointed living spaces and a fabulous kitchen with everything you might need to cook in. The pool setting here is the best I've ever experienced complete with sea turtles frolicking in the waves just over the cliff and seaspray often hitting the edge of the pool.

We had a great time in Maui at the Sugar beach resort in Kihei which is a central location to all the activities. The view from the balcony was glorious and a great start to the day’s activities planning and enjoying breakfast there. I found the beds including the sofa bed adequate for our needs. When we go back again would be looking forward to a newer sofa bed with a firm base :-) The amenities for beaches and snorkeling gear which you can rent at the property at a nominal price was very helpful. With all the activities packed in during our stay, this was a great home base to look forward to at the end of each day. Thanks for having us!!

Overall, we loved the Sugar Beach Resort and Kihei. The location was great and the unit had a really nice view.
On the downside, the bed was broken and the unit was quite dirty when we arrived (food on dishes, dirt on cabinets, etc). These issues need to be resolved ASAP.

Where do I begin? First of all, the photos and description are 100% true to how the unit is in person. I have stayed in other units at the Sugar Beach Resort that were also nice, but a bit outdated and less expensive, but based on the photos and the description, I opted for unit #308 and was SO happy I did! Not only was it remodeled, it was upgraded with higher end materials, which included everything from the flooring, to the appliances, to the bathroom, linens and towels, furniture, the window shades and curtains and the decor which all had a wonderful matching flow throughout the unit. The kitchen is loaded with practically everything you need. The host even left a generous amount of dishwasher pods and a couple of packs of laundry detergent, extra rubbish bags and a fresh roll of paper towels. The owner posted very detailed instructions on every item that one might need instructions for, which was a very helpful touch! You don't even need to try and figure out which of the 3 remote controls to use for the TV! One of the other units I've stayed in, had a full oceanfront view, but having a view of the ocean, pool area, koi pond and the courtyard area was even more enjoyable! We sat on the lanai for most meals and really loved our view. In the bedroom, it has a very comfortable king-size bed and nightstands with lamps on both sides. There are plenty of drawers and hangars for your clothes. In the closet, you'll find a massive amount of useful items, such as a pair of folding Tommy Bahama beach chairs, an ice cooler, 4 beach towels, a yoga mat, ironing board, extra bed pillows and linens, tote bags and various beach toys for kids. The beautiful bathroom has a great step-in shower stall with a little cubby area for your shower toiletries and an abundance of towels and several rolls of toilet paper. The vanity has drawers to store other toiletries and includes a good quality hairdryer and a small mirror. The A/C cools the whole unit pretty quickly and there are ceiling fans in the dining area as well as in the bedroom. One final sweet touch, was that we were greeted with a cute, insulated bag that was packed with treats! I found that to be the cherry on top! Mahalo for sharing this beautiful unit to guests. I would really love to stay here again, for all of my future Maui trips!

From the moment we booked we knew we made the right decision. Any questions we had, were not only addressed promptly but very thoroughly with pleasure. Arriving at the resort and opening the door to our temporary home, was nothing but reassuring that we undoubtedly made the right choice. The condo was welcoming and suited my husband and I perfectly. As we explored the island, our location at sugar beach resort was certainly on point with our wants for our honeymoon - laid back, quiet, yet beach front within footsteps and central to all our exploring. We appreciated coming back each night to the condo to sit back and relax whether that be in the hot tub or in the comfy chairs on the lanai. I honestly can’t say enough positives about this place. We had an amazing honeymoon and our choice in staying in #308 at Sugar Beach Resort was a large part of that. Would we recommend this place? Absolutely! Would we come back? No doubt we will!

We rented this Sugar Beach condo for 4 nights in early October and had an absolutely great time. The unit was incredibly clean and well stocked. The pictures very accurately depicted everything. The owners provided very clear instructions for everything and were extremely easy to work with. The folks at the office when we checked in were very friendly and helpful.
The pool is very nice, lots of lounge chairs there and on the grass area in front of the ocean. Never had a problem getting two lounges even without staking out spaces early in the morning. The beach isn't super wide, but wide enough to sit on the beach. The owners have beach chairs, boogie boards, a cooler -- even fins and snorkel although we didn't use them -- everything you need to enjoy the beach right in front or even go a bit to either side of the property. Ocean and waves are pretty mellow -- nothing too huge when we were there. Beach is nice and long for walks -- including to the great shaved ice place nearby across the highway. It became part of our afternoon ritual.
Plenty of grills if you're inclined to cook. Lots of people there do, but we never had to wait very long for grill space and the other guests bbqing were all super friendly.
Only "surprise" to the unit -- and my guess is for most Sugar Beach units -- is the size of the bathroom. It's pretty tiny with very limited counter space. But its all very nice and newly remodeled in this particular unit so we were ok with it.
Actually, there was one other surprise -- how clearly the owners had labeled everything and stored everything. It was a very pleasant surprise that made the stay in this condo that much easier.
If you're looking for a condo in N. Kihei, you can't miss with this one. We don't go to Maui that often, but will definitely consider returning to this great spot.

This was our first trip to Maui and it could not have been better. The condo was everything and more than we expected. The location was perfect for us. It allowed us to explore the island easily. We are beach people so having the beach chairs, ice chest, towels and boogie boards was awesome! We walked the beach each morning and it was wonderful. Not crowded at all. We will definitely be back and be staying here.

Over the past few months my wife and I have stayed at various hotels and condos around the islands. It can be stressful trying to decide where to stay or if the place is sketchy or if it’s clean etc. Jim and Toni’s place was perfect. Clean, super organized and definitely fully stocked. You can tell they put a lot of thinking into what guests needs and wants are and it shows. Felt like home from the moment we walked in and made our experience on Maui one we will not forget. Also I’m almost certain #308 has the best lani too. For communication Jim and Toni were amazing and replied to emails and messages timely I always felt like they were there to help. I’m definitely saving this for my favorites and will stay here again if we ever return to Maui. No complaints. Hands down the best.

My fiance and I just stayed at this property and it was perfect. They have all the toiletries provided so you do not have to bring much of your own. It is only a 15-20 min drive from the airport compared to other locations around the island. The whole process was great and we will be coming back next year!!!

I LOVED the appartement. The remodel was done with very good taste from the kitchen to the bedroom and it’s barn door. It is loaded with everything you need during your stay: snorkeling gears, beach towels and cooler we used when we went to Hana for the day.
The area is very quiet and the building with its amenities is a bit older looking. The swimming pool is very clean. We also used the beachfront for a nice swim. Overall we had a very good time because it is centrally located. I would recommend to have a car.

We were COMPLETELY thrilled by all the amazing qualities of Sugar Beach 308! It is by far the most clean, updated/decorated, equipped, organized, beautiful location/view that we have ever rented and we’ve used VRBO several times. Another huge plus is the owners. They are incredibly nice, gracious, quick-responding, helpful and friendly! If you’ve never rented through VRBO before then this must be noted as a very necessary quality. I always got quick email responses back and more detailed information than I had even asked for, what a delight! All I can conclude with is that if we ever return to Maui I will DEFINITELY be staying in Sugar Beach 308!!!

My family enjoyed this property and everything about it's beautiful beach views. The location was perfect and accessible to everything from amazing beaches, zip lining, snorkeling and water fall hikes. The property was laid out very well and was beyond our expectations with the kitchen set up, washer, dryer, comfortable beds and all the items we needed while away from home. It was very clean and well maintained. The property owners were helpful answering all our questions. I would recommend this property to everyone.

This place was absolutely amazing, and Jim and Toni are phenomenal! We stayed in Kihei for two weeks for a friend's wedding, and felt the most relaxed when we were back at the condo. This place is in a great location with a private beach and beautiful view, but also only about a 10 min drive to all the top restaurants in Kihei. Jim and Toni greeted us with a warm welcome note, starting our vacation off on the right foot. They were available if we needed anything, but to be honest, it was so well stocked, we never did! Every detail from the laundry soap to the spices and kitchen utensils were stocked to the brim with everything we needed. We bought laundry soap at Costco assuming we'd go through whatever they had set. Their stock lasted us the full two weeks! I was amazed at all the details they thought of and looked into. If we come back to Maui, we will absolutely stay at Jim and Toni's condo again. It was everything we imagined and more! If there was any criticism, I would say the bed is pretty firm, and we could have used a laundry basket, but most people don't stay in Maui for two weeks, and I guarantee we would have thought the same thing anywhere we stayed. All in all, this was a great place to stay run by great people! The view is exactly as it looks, and the condo is so well kept, it felt luxurious. Thank you Jim and Toni for a great stay and memories that'll last a lifetime.

We just completed a second visit at #308. It is so nice to have everything at your fingertips at the Sugar Beach Resort. The view....... the comfort....... the feeling of being at home away from home. What more could you ask for?
We have vacationed at many different locations throughout Kihei in Maui and have adopted #308 as our place to be. Jim and Toni (the owners and hosts of #308) are very accommodating and have created a small piece of heaven in Maui. We are booked to return in May of 2017.

Thank You!! We stayed for a week at the Sugar Mill #308 condo. The reservation process was a breeze. The owners Jim and Toni Whyte couldn't have been nicer to work with. The condo was beautifully upgraded and included everything imaginable. The condo has a beach decor and looks out to the ocean from the balcony. The condo was beautifully decorated and very clean with many amenities to make our stay enjoyable. The ocean view from the lanai was incedible with spectacular sunset views......would definitely stay here again and will tell all our friends about it...

Experience was amazing! The place was exactly what I wanted and was above and beyond my expectations! I traveled this time by myself for a wedding, so I'm excited to bring my family next time. There definitely will be a next time, and very soon.

We stayed at Sugar Beach for our Honeymoon, and couldn't have picked a better condo! It's newly renovated and the owners didn't spare any expense! The owners are extremely easy to work with, and accommodated our questions/requests quickly. The resort is beautiful and each condo has a great few of the ocean. Honestly, couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! Would stay in condo 308 again in a heartbeat! Highly recommend it! Telling all of our friends about our great experience :)

We had three wonderful days in your beach home. We cooked in a well-equipped kitchen and the BBQs on site were really convenient. The small sandwich place was great the first night when we were tired and just wanted to stay put. Walks along the beach at sunset were so wonderful. Everything was so comfy and made us feel like a home away from home. Thank you for sharing.

This condo was perfect for my trip to Maui. I was there on vacation, and wanted a place relax in the evening and do some work. The place is beautiful with very comfortable furniture (especially the bed) and a nice kitchen. The lanai had several seating options for relaxing and watching the sunset. The building is right on the beach with a nice pool as well.
I wish that i had been on vacation, but this was a perfect place to relax after a long day of work and i would love to return to just enjoy. I would highly recommend this unit. Thanks for the stay.

My family had the chance to stay at #308. To say that this rental unit is beautiful does not cover it. Toni and Jim have thought of everything. The view is gorgeous, you can enjoy the sound of the ocean from inside the room as well as see it from the couch inside, not to mention from the lanai. They have done a wonderful job at remodeling everything and if you have questions or need anything they are available to help, so not only was the room fabulous, but so was their customer service. Condo #308 was and included everything you could wish for! My daughter (5) and I traveled alone. We stayed for 9 days in July/August. Toni/Jim were wonderful during the booking process (and during our stay): Quick responses, ample information, kind, patient and they extended a deal they had offered the week before I booked. The condo was beautifully remodeled, furniture and linens clean and in excellent shape. The condo layout worked well for me to read/watch TV while my daughter was sleeping. This was by far the best equipped vacation rental I have ever stayed in: I didn't have to pack shampoo, body lotion and soap (no shower gel). I also found female hygiene products, cotton swaps, tissues and lots of toilet paper. Bed was very comfortable, shower had good water pressure, A/C and fan (bedroom) worked very well and the place was spacious for my little one to spread her toys. We received 4 sets of towels (bath sheet, hand towel and wash cloth). Kitchen included spices, every utensil and tool you could ask for, Ziploc bags, tupperware, trash bags, paper towel, sponge, aluminum foil, even coffee + filters were provided. Upon arrival we found drinking water in the fridge. Beach towels, body boards, beach chairs (all new), cooler and umbrella were provided. We left our sand toys behind. The condo is ideally located on the 3rd floor, next to the staircase, only steps from parking lot (helps w/ grocery shopping) but also close to pool and beach - easy to walk for kids. Pool was cleaned every morning, grounds were impeccably maintained. We experienced no noise or nuisances by other guests. In the night, it was lovely to sit in the comfy armchairs on the lanai and listen to the waves. We had a short interruption by the property management (they checked for a leak in the condo under us). They communicated clearly and with the utmost respect. The next day, Toni/Jim sent us a splendid gift basket (absolutely not necessary). We rented a car to get around. I don't think Kihei would have worked for us without it. The city is perfectly located in between the cities wanted to visit - Paia, Wailea, Lahaina (a bit further) and a short drive from OGG. Insider tip: Get your poke fill at Foodlands Grocery Store. Incredible selection that you can taste before you buy. So good. My daughter loved Coconut's Fish Cafe and Ono Gelato. The Sugar Museum was underwhelming. Highly recommend this condo and Sugar Beach Resort! Would love to return one day...
