Kamaole Sands 5-403

Located just across from Kamaole Beach III, this penthouse condo has one of the best locations inside Kamaole Sands resort and on the island of Maui. The ocean and pool view private lanai will be your favorite spot to watch the beautiful sunset or the night lights of the resort. The downstair bedroom has the mountain view of the Haleakalā.

This loft condo is located on the top floor of the building, and not far from the elevator. It includes air conditioning, a fully-equipped kitchen, a washing machine, a cloth dryer, cable TVs, and free 5G WiFi among its many amenities. One dedicated parking space is also included in the booking (see parking note below). The resort has a heated outdoor pool, two hot tubs, one kid pool, four tennis courts, eight gas-grill areas, and a fully-equipped gym inside the beautifully maintained gardens and grounds.

Five minute walk across the street is the enchanting Kamaole Beach Park III. It's a beautiful sandy beach with lifeguards. It is excellent for snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming, sunset views, and whale watching. There is also a large park with a playground and grassy picnic areas adjacent to the beach, great for family with kids. Shops and restaurants are within walking distance (our favorite breakfast spots are Maui Bread Company and Cafe @La Plage). Downtown Kihei and the famous town Wailea (Keawakapu Beach) are just five minute drive away.

Parking Notes: All guests need to stop by the front desk to register and receive a parking permit and pay registration and resort fee $71.67 (one time fee for the whole stay). The designated parking space for this unit is conveniently located close to the elevator of building five. You'll receive the stall number after registration.

The unit is quite run down with very basic amenities. The beds are old & uncomfortable. The patio is hardly usable (small & if you have the AC on it is loud & blows hot exhaust). Due to heat, you have to the run the AC/fans, with so much white noise you can't hear a TV or other people. The kitchen supplies aren't great. The toaster only toasts one side of the bread. There weren't even scissors so we had to buy a pair. There are very limited amounts of cutlery & extra cooking items. There are NO children's toys (although we left some sand toys for kids). The beach chairs that were left for us were awful (ripped & rusted children's chairs in terrible condition). We did contact the property manager ("PM") & they delivered new chairs, but that was about a week into our stay. The unit is not set up for more than 4 people. The table only has chairs for 4 & we had to request a folding chair (which also took about a week). No easy way to bathe kids due to sliding glass door & slippery tubs. There is ongoing construction (which is not in the listing). Loud drilling/jackhammering for most daylight hours each day. Property manager said the construction was to be completed in Nov 2024, but I checked the listing at multiple points from our scheduling in Jan 2024 until our departure in Dec 2024 and it was NEVER listed. They did provide a partial refund (2 of our 13 nights).Pool is very cold. Beach is close & nice. Complex grounds are clean & very maintained. Grills are far

Stayed with my family of 5, we enjoyed the resort. We grilled each night while the kids played on the grass and chased lizards. The pool was clean and not crowded. We loved walking to the beach and watching the sunset or watching from the deck. We had everything we needed in the condo, it was clean and comfortable. We will come again.

We had a fabulous 2 week stay in Maui! The condo has the best view of the pool/property from the lanai. Pros: clean condo, nice modern updated furniture in living room and bedroom areas. Beds were comfy, even the pull out sofa sleeper. Kitchen was nicely equipped with all the appliances and utensils needed. Property grounds are gorgeous! Condo had 3 beach towels and extra bath towels and linens, pillows etc. there is an A/C in the living room area which cooled things down nicely. There’s also an A/C in the downstairs bedroom. The upstairs loft bedroom doesn’t have A/C but two high powered fans that worked just fine. Cons: The closet where the washer/dryer is smelled like mildew. Didn't bother us much, you couldn't smell it unless the closet was open. The supply of beach equipment was in desperate need of replacing. There was only one usable Tommy Bahama beach chair. We had to borrow our family's supply of chairs who were staying in a different unit. The only other inconvenience was the lack of food containers to store leftovers. All in all it’s a great condo, with beautiful views, and we would book again!

This was our 4th stay at Kamaole Sands but only our 3rd favorite unit. On the plus side: - clean unit - comfortable beds - two functional air conditioning units - spectacular location / view for sunsets Improvements needed (or just a heads-up to those who appreciate these kinds of things): - only 3 water glasses - only 2 unmatching wine glasses - lots of utensils but VERY random (nothing matching) - no spices - bring your own cling-wrap (we love it when owners supply the convenient big-box store roll, but of course, we shouldn't expect that) - no tupper-ware bowls for leftovers - beach gear in need of a serious refresh: -- only 1 Tommy Bahama chair (in very rough shape) -- only 1 quality boogie board (+3 broken cheap styrofoam boards probably ok for little ones) -- 1 decent but not overly large sun umbrella -- 1 beach wagon (good shape - yay!) - patio furniture very basic; comfortable for 10 mins then 'not-so-much' NOTE: if you haven't stayed at Kamaole before, Bldg. 5 is not great for accessing the BBQ's (long haul) so do keep that in mind. Owner was generally very responsive but when we asked if we could refresh certain items for the unit for them, unfortunately, we didn't hear back until it was too late in our trip (but hopefully things have been updated since). All in all, an ~ok unit for the price but we can't rate it more than 3 stars. We appreciated the beds, AC, cleanliness, and view - but the unit really needs some refreshing to be a 4 or 5. Mahalo!

We had an amazing time on our trip and the condo was perfect for our family! We are a family of 4 and everyone had their space. The grounds were beautiful, pool and hot tub were relaxing. We were right across from the beach and just a couple blocks from restaurants and stores. We thoroughly enjoyed this rental in Kihei.

The unit is well suited for a young family with a play pen and wagon to take to the beach. The kitchen is well appointed. There was a variety of sand toys, collapsible chairs, a few boogie boards, and two umbrellas. The unit owner/manager was responsive to communication during our stay and addressed concerns. Easy to access from the highway. Close and easy walk to the beach.

Loved the location of Kama’ola Sands. Right across the street from the beach, close to shopping and supplies, “freeway” close… The property manager was super responsive, friendly, and helpful. And the grounds of the property were immaculate and the condo had all the beach stuff we needed. Loved our trip!

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
