This condo is all about the view and location. It has an absolutely magnificent view, and sitting on the lanai was amazing. We could see turtles and dolphins, which was really neat.The staff at Kauai Vacation rentals are all very professional and responsive. Great to work with all around!The condo itself definitely needs some upgrades. The kitchen is nice, and the bathrooms have been partially remodeled. However, it has old carpet, a broken pocket door to the primary bathroom shower and toilet (with a burlap curtain in place that doesn't even reach the ground). The condo could use a thorough cleaning - especially the dust build-up on the baseboards and old furniture. But again, the view makes up for all of that!

Amazing views of sea turtles, dolphins, whales and rainbows 🌈 from our balcony. Prefect location in Poipu, walking distance to Poipu Beach, Brennecke’s Beach Broiler, Shipwreck Beach and the Hyatt, plus Whaler’s Shopping Village. Great value and size for the location, 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo except it desperately is in need of a major update. All the appliances worked, but very old and tired. The shower in the larger bedroom sprayed onto the floor because of half glass.wall. There was no fan on the second bath nor a window for ventilation.. We didn’t want to walk barefoot on the carpet as it looked really old. The condo grounds definitely needed more maintenance, just wasn’t very nice, but you couldn’t beat the location. So overall, we were happy with our condo. Missing Poipu already.

Carpet soaked in rain 2' into room, but "Remove your shoes" sign remains. Sounds like horses live upstairs. Mildewed carpet 20 yrs. old. Washing machine gets out of balance easily. Terrible noise. Walks across room.

This property was a winner for us, it was exactly as described. The hosts were so accommodating!!! We were a 2 couples traveling in Feb. for a quick getaway. The price seemed very reasonable for the location and amenities. It is not a new property but we were okay with that. We knew we would be out and about a lot, the nice beaches are a 5 min car ride, we even walked to shipwreck beach in 20 min, the walk takes you by the incredible grounds of the Grand Hyatt. The location of this property is perfect, No air-conditioning but this was not an issue for us, it was cooler at night and we were there in Feb. so it was pretty rainy for a good chunk of our stay. There is a really small pool but we didn’t use it. We preferred the beaches. We picked up some fresh fish at a fish market and cooked some meals in our unit, they had everything we needed. Sat outside in the morning and watched whales. Saw the most incredible rainbow ever too!

We love Kauai and always try to stay at Poipu Makai when a unit is available. It is a superb location right on the ocean with crashing waves, beautiful sunsets and wildlife. The unit is always fully equipped and clean. Looking forward to coming back. Construction to the unit above us was a little unfortunate. The Coconut Palm tree pruners were fun to watch but they left a mess for the last two days of our stay. Mahalo

If you are looking for a rental with amazing views and a good location, this is it. However, endorsement comes with a couple caveats. The property is old and could use some updating. The carpets should probably be replaced and the decor is stuck in the 1980s (I, frankly, enjoyed the nostalgia). The property gets a nice breeze in the afternoon, making the lack of air conditioning not an issue. However, the master bath did not have a functioning door to the toilet/shower. A curtain was hung for privacy but it was see-through and didn't even go all the way to the ground. Additionally, the toilet faces the walkway so if the master bedroom curtains are open, someone walking by could see in. Some in our family objected to using the bathroom because of it.Some of the rotating window panes didn't quite work right but most of them did. The appliances all worked. The kitchen was well stocked. The beds were comfortable. The unit is a little far to be considered walking distance to food/shopping but you can reach a beach on foot. Other amenities were nice, e.g. beach chairs, books, binoculars, etc. I'd stay here again if the price was right.

Overall, the vacation was great. The view from the place is amazing. There were a couple of drawbacks though. The parking entrance is a little bit odd, better instructions on where to park maybe (upper lot). The other is the renters above us. I felt they were inconsiderate of the people below them. One of them had heavy footsteps that you can hear all day long walking back and forth from the bedroom to the balcony. Furnitures were being moved about our first night and dragged loudly. There was even maintenance being done till 9 pm at one time. Coming from a fire prone area in the mainland it was surprising to have a brush fire in front of us at this place. We speculated that someone was smoking at the other rental condos and flicked a cigarette towards the ocean but was blown towards our rental area. We had to give the fire extinguisher at the place to the man below us to extinguish the fire. FYI to renters. If you look out the ocean daily, There are three sea turtles that live in the cove. Binoculars were available at the unit for viewing.

I booked this villa, even though I had concerns about it not having A/C. Trust me, you won't need it. We found it comfortable with the fans running, and there are plenty of them. The sunsets from the lanai are absolutely beautiful. 3 beaches are within a 5 to 10 minute walk, and a 4th beach is within walking distance if you're a hiker. This was the first holiday my wife and I have been on where we were not ready to leave. Kauai definitely did not disappoint.

We stayed at Poipu Makai C-2 for 5 nights this last Thanksgiving. We visit Kauai at least once a year and always stay in Poipu (although we love the North Shore too!) for the guaranteed sunny weather! This was an excellent rental for a family of 4 with two small children. The master is very spacious with a sink and toilet/shower combo IN the room and the kids enjoyed the two twin bed situation in the second room. We were able to have early check-in and Kauai Vacation Rentals was always gracious and communicative as usual! We loved the welcome treat basket too with coffee and nuts! The photos of the lanai and exterior views on the listing don't do it justice! You can't be any closer to the ocean and have spectacular views of the coastline, evening sunset, a barrage of turtles (like 3+ at any given time in the water!) and we even saw humpback whales breaching one morning while having our coffee. Any meals eaten at home were on the lanai! TV was easy to use and not having AC didn't bother us as it was the winter and we just closed the curtains when we left during the day. Location is key as you're right in between Shipwreck and Brenneke/ Poipu beaches! Pool was just OK as it was very small and shaded all day, but thankfully our kids prefer the beach! Highly recommend this rental and would definitely stay there again!

This condo has spectacular views from the large lanai. We enjoyed watching the whales, turtles, boats, and night divers ...there was always something to watch! The indoor space is efficient, beds were comfortable, kitchen well stocked, and the beach accessories appreciated! The extra fans came in handy during the hot days. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but patience pays off.

Great location, can't beat hearing the waves crash on the coastline. Unit furnishings a little tired, but unit was clean and comfortable. As others have commented, pool is small, in the shade most of the day and under a tree so lots of leaves floating in it. But Poipu Beach is 5 minutes away so who needs a pool :-)

Great location and could see so much wildlife from the balcony. Saw whales, dolphins, mantarays and way too many sea turtles to count. The place was clean and easy. I imagine that if it was really hot it might get rough without air conditioning.

You walk into this property and wow, the views are stunning. You can sit and have you coffee and watch turtles swimming. The beach is about a 10 minute walk away and there is a lot of restaurants and other beaches nearbye.

we were less than 50 ft from the rocks on the shore. Great privacy on the second floor. no large crowds of people. quiet area. loved it. we made a new reservation for May 2022. it was fun watching the large storm and waves from our "front row" lanai.

This condo has a breathtaking view and you can consistently watch waves crash against the rocks and you can watch sea turtles right from your balcony. However, if you have difficulty staying somewhere where there is no air-conditioning then this is not the place for you. We found it very difficult to go to sleep at night even with the windows open. It is really difficult to stay there during the day. Other than that, everything was great.

Spent 8 nights here. Everything as good as expected, ocean view is amazing. We enjoyed breakfast at ocean side every morning and sunset every evening, what a luxury. We can see 3-6 sea turtles every morning, that is a pleasant surprise actually
Please note, there is NO AC. So you need to make sure ALL blinds and doors are open so the breeze could cool down the condo. If you don't, the condo would be hot and humid. Actually we are fine with breeze. For the price per night, that is expected.
There is no salt and pepper, but it is a minor issue, we just went to grocery store to buy by a pack of 2 for less than $3.
However, there is one minor issue with us. We arrived at Kauai on 6/23 from Maui where we stayed for 9 nights, and we had negative Covide test before that. Kauai county remove the requiement of Covid test for inter island tests. So even if our QR code is not green to enter Kauai we are still fine. This was clearly published. However the property management office kept sending my message to request for green QR code which was not longer required. I hope they can update their check list on time.
But I would definitely come back again, maybe in winter, for whale watching from porch. This condo is a great place to stay!

During our stay we had numerous whale sightings, sea Turtles, and the sunsets were amazing! The condo was well equipped, including lots of beach gear to use. The beds were comfortable too! We would totally come back.
