This was our first time staying in Kihei. For our previous visits to Maui we stayed in the Kaanapali/Lahaina area. We booked this condo based on the 5 star ratings on VRBO. The condo was nicely furnished, the bed was very comfortable and the sofa was nice and firm (compared to other places at where the sofa are really soft with no support). The sunsets on the lanai were amazing and the condo was well stocked with everything you would need. Very fluffy towels, plenty of pillows and blankets, beach supplies, spices and cooking oils, pots/pans, etc. Very convenient walking distance to Times Supermarket and restaurants.
A couple of things to note:
1. There is a coin-operated laundry on the first floor (bring $7 in quarters $2 for the washer, $3 for the dryer, and $1 each for detergent and fabric softener). The condo did have laundry detergent while we were there.
2. You will have to pay 100% of the rental price when booking (we have never had to do this before - most hosts charge 1/3 or 1/2 upon booking and the rest closer to the arrival date. We booked 11 months in advance and had to pay the full cost upfront).
3. There is one airconditioner in the living room. However the bedroom does get quite warm, even with a ceiling fan.
4. The place is comfortable for a couple, or a couple with one or two small children. There is not much closet space.
Overall, a nice place to stay and a quiet location. We walked on the beach, saw sea turtles, and had a very relaxing time.

Roopa and Josef were terrific hosts! Communication was excellent. They knew just a bit about the reason for our trip and left such a nice personalized welcome note. Everything was in great condition and well stocked. Many thoughtful touches to make this a great home for vacation. The bathroom and floors were just remodeled and we loved the vibe of the unit. The beach was very chill. Perfect if you want a quiet stretch of sand to relax on. The turtles that would come up must have thought so also! Plus it’s always nice when beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, beach towels, and beach toys are supplied. We hope to rent from Roopa and Josef eventually again during whale season. You are so close to the beach and we know it’s a great whale watching spot

The newly remodeled bathroom was very well done and the unit was in great shape with a wonderful modern Hawaiian feel. The hosts were great and responsive by text or call anytime. We will be back. The condo is equipped with all kitchen needs and nice outdoor BBQ. They supplied all the beach equipment you could want. The complex is very well maintained, clean and safe. What a great trip we will be back. Look no further great for a couple or a family with 1 or 2 small kids. Thanks Mahalo!

The apartment is a home from home equipped with everything you could need for a holiday including beach gear (chairs, umbrella, bodyboards!). It is less than 5 min walk to Times supermarket and a whole array of places to eat. The best bit is the balcony with the most amazing sunset view, and you are right on the beach for a swim or walk. Loads to do on the island and the location is convenient for everything.
The hosts (Roopa and Joe) were brilliant - communication was excellent before we arrived and during our stay.
Sadly we were staying during the wildfires that caused so much devastation for the island and it’s people. During the time the fires were burning Roopa and Joe were quick to check that we were ok.
A lot has been written about tourists visiting Maui now in the press. Everyone we met after the fires were very welcoming. Undoubtedly the island will need visitors to continue to support the economy as it recovers, and if you choose to go then Roopa and Joes place is a great local spot to stay away from the big resorts, somewhere you can contribute respectfully and enjoy the amazing island.
I’m short we couldn’t recommend staying here enough. It’s an amazing holiday rental.

The beach is steps away and sea turtles come out of the water at sunset. The location is close to grocery stores and many restaurants. Roopa is a super responsive host and always available to answer any questions. We plan on booking this unit again!!

The location is good, close to the beach. The proximity to the supermarket was nice, but I still ended up driving to most places, they were slightly too far too far to walk home.
I didn’t enjoy being kicked out the apartment sharply at the 10:00 am check out time. I felt very rushed and unwelcome when the host entered the rental at 10:01 am. I felt very negative as I was leaving the apartment. It was like I was being evicted. I had to pack alongside the house cleaning lady, which I did not want. I would have appreciated the host giving more leeway, 10:00 am is an extremely early check out time, and no rental I’ve ever been to tries to kick you out of your living space so aggressively at checkout time. In the hospitality business, I think it’s inappropriate to be so strict with guests, especially those who are wrapping up to go home.
Overall, good but I expected a little better.

I felt very negative as I was leaving the apartment. It was like I was being evicted. I had to pack alongside the house cleaning lady, which I did not want. I would have appreciated the host giving more leeway, 10:00 am is an extremely early check out time, and no rental I’ve ever been to tries to kick you out of your living space so aggressively at checkout time. In the hospitality business, I think it’s inappropriate to be so strict with guests, especially those who are wrapping up to go home.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in this property. I can’t say enough good things about the property, the location, and our overall experience. The outdoor balcony was probably our favorite part. We spent almost every night sitting out and watching an incredible sunset. It really made the stay special.
Joe and Roopa are both wonderful hosts. The communication is fast and accommodating. The pictures, descriptions, and other reviews are all very accurate and helped us make a decision on where to stay so easy. I would highly recommend to anyone this property.

Location, amenities, every thing you can think of- they’ve thought it through!! If this condo is available, book it! Perfect location, swimming behind the condo was great. Sunsets were truly a dream every night! Even got the chance to watch turtles come up every night, a dream come true for myself!!

5 stars! Great communication beginning to end with Joe & Roopa. Squeaky clean, packed with all gear that you need & treats! Like many have mentioned, we hung around & enjoyed coffee on the lanai in the morning & barbequed in the evenings. Safeway is the go to grocery; get some incredibly fresh Ahi or Swordfish or go to Nalu's (where the locals hang out) for dining ! Enjoy!

Wow this place was so great. The views from the lanai were phenomenal. Amazing sunsets every night. Communication with owners was prompt and professional. They even had some treats awaiting our arrival! Great beach equipment provided. This place really enhanced our Hawai’i trip!

Wonderful place to stay! We loved the lanai and the views. The kitchen and bathroom were stocked with everything you’d need, and there were beach chairs and toys in the closet! The beach is lovely, very soft sand. We saw turtles on the beach in the evenings. Roopa made sure we were well taken care of. Such a great experience, I can’t recommend it enough!

Exactly as described and our stay was one for the memory books. Great view from the balcony with amazing sunsets every night. Comfy beds and linens, and a clean bathroom with great shower. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.
