It had been more than 20 years since my last trip to Sugar Beach, and it was exactly what I remembered. Sherry’s place was perfect for me and the kitchen and bath were nicely updated. It had all the essentials including beach chairs, a cooler, and some sand toys (if you have kiddos). Great view of the pool and beach with amazing sunsets. Close to Kihei town but away from the busy area. The beach is excellent for morning/evening walks. I can’t wait to come back!

We had a wonderful time at the South Beach Resort. The unit was clean and the beds were comfortable. AC in the unit was also a plus as were the views of the ocean from the lanai. We would definitely come back!

This property was beautiful and so clean! Sherry was wonderful about answering our questions. It did get really windy on this side of the island around lunch time so it wasn’t a beach that we would just hang out at, but it was still a perfect place to stay as we were always on the move driving places! We would definitely recommend sand would love to go back someday!

Room was updated and a lot nicer than a lot of other rooms we visited. Everything worked well and the property manager was very responsive. Air conditioning worked well but the bedroom was a little warmer. Also, we would have preferred blackout curtains in the bedroom. We were very pleased with the room and property.

The condo is nicely furnished and well equipped for all needs. When you sit on the lanai, you overlook the pool and the beach, but the shops are directly to your right. Sugar Beach is a bit of a drive to restaurants and shops in Kihei and Wailea. You can walk on the beach, but there was some run off, so the water was not clear to swim in. The pool and hot tub were really nice and the grounds are impeccably cared for.
Our check in time was 3:00. We arrived at 3:20 and the cleaner was apologetic, but asked us to come back in 40 minutes.
Even though check out time was posted as 11;00, the code on the door turned off at 10:30, and the cleaning service knocked on the door at 10.
Despite these minor inconveniences, it is a lovely condo in a lovely setting and we would stay here again.

We were VERY impressed with Sherry’s condo that we recently stayed in for our first trip to Maui. It was very centrally located for our needs, and the grounds are very beautifully kept. This property was affordable and simple in a good way. Everything you need - a place to cook, rest, launder while enjoying beautiful Maui and a pretty view, pool and hot tub. On a long stretch of beach for nice walks and lovely sunsets. Centrally located so drive to all points of interest are not too far. Would definitely stay again.

Number 202 is a great condo with a friendly host! Nice view and love the Sandwich shop and beach on property. This property is centrally located in beautiful Kihei for touring the island, close to the airport, shopping, fun local restaurants and big box stores. Will definitely stay here again!

This condo/apartment was sparkling clean, airy, quiet, and simply beautiful. Lovely views from the balcony. The kitchen was fully equipped. Owner was very helpful, with detailed yet simple check-in instructions and an elaborate "tip" sheet for local restaurants, etc. Special shoutout to the managers of this resort: The grounds are absolutely immaculate and beautifully landscaped. The pool was clean, and the barbecue grills scrubbed every morning. Our thanks to the owner and the property managers for a lovely stay. (P.S. The Sand Witch -- on-site -- was a surprisingly cute bar and restaurant; check it out.)

This condo was perfect! Spacious with everything needed except food and bottled water. The keyless entry is great, especially when walking just a few steps to the beach. No need to take a key or keycard. Nothing to lose. The sunsets were amazing from the balcony. The place was spotless, NO BUGS! The owner even included laundry soap pods, dishwasher detergent, all the oils and seasonings needed for cooking. I can’t say enough… IT WAS PERFECT.

We were very fortunate to have just missed the storms that had been going on. This property only had a bit of mud in the parking lot which was cleaned up quickly. Other condos in the area were not as lucky, and the mud temporarily closed part of S. Kihei Road. The condo itself is very comfortable and the grounds well kept. We appreciated having beach chairs, umbrella and a cooler available for our beach outing. The beach in front of the property was perfect for our morning walks. We loved the location of this condo with easy access to other parts of the island as well as the airport. The owner responded quickly to any questions. We would definitely stay again.

The condo was excellent! Location was great beachfront, with pool and jacuzzi. We just wished we could’ve enjoyed it all but we were caught in a storm. We’ll definitely be back to Sugar Beach Resort. Hopefully with better weather next time!

We returned to the Sugar Beach Resort in November 2021 for another wonderful stay. The apartment we booked was a true home away from home, one we would never want to leave. The property maintains a lovely garden area and pool and has ample parking. The resort is centrally located, with quick access to Kihei and Kahului and a quick hop to the highway to Lahaiana. We highly recommend you choose the Sugar Beach Resort for your next trip to Maui!

The unit was clean and cozy, with an updated Kitchen and Bath - so it felt new! The TV was oddly placed (and a bit smaill), but my spouse enjoys watching sports. i grew up with rattan furniture, so not a fan due to a lack of comfortability. WiFi was fine for remote work. Location was quiet, local/remote-like, very peaceful. SNORKELING: you MUST go before 9am because its typically an extra-windy area (and I prefer to sleep in when on vacay). - so I didnt snorkel. Pool and spa was under maintenance until our last night, so that was a huge disappointment. if it were not for the higher winds and lack of pool/spa access - I would have given a higher rating. Unit itself is very nice with breathtaking sunset views and location with long, beachwalks! Thank you for hosting and we would recommend if visitors don't mind the winds!

Nice unit with nice view of beach, comfortable bed, bath is nicely updated. Very clean condo. Comfortable lanai, enjoyed morning coffee out looking at view. Sugar beach resort has a very nice beach adjacent to the property. Unit is well equipped with almost everything you need to enjoy your beach vacation. The only negative is location was quite windy in afternoons and evenings compared to other locations ie Lahaina and Wailea. Overall great value we enjoyed our stay.

Balcony had view of pool area and ocean. Easy access and short walk to beach, sand here is very soft. Access to grills, reclining beach chairs and grass area. The unit was large and furnished with everything we needed for a month-long stay. The complex was so close to the wonderful soft sand beach perfect for walking for miles. I found a secret spot for snorkeling right out front. The little store and activities shop staff were so helpful! The pool and spa were a great spot to meet people or read a book. This is the perfect vacation spot for couples or families, and centrally located between the various resort areas of Maui, yet quieter.

We had a great stay at Sugar Beach Resort unit #202. Easy online booking, and easy communication with Sherree. We were grateful to get to check into the condo a couple hours early as Hawaiian Air had changed our departure by 4 hours!!!
The condo was in perfect condition. Queen bed is very comfortable . There was a small fan in the bedroom but it would help a lot to have a ceiling fan in there. Even with the ac on at night we were warm in the bedroom. Bedroom could also use more lighting as it was quite dark even with the small lamps on. Kitchen had basic cookware, but we ate out. A small supply of laundry detergent, tp, paper towels and soaps was helpful as were the baggies, foil & Saran Wrap. Shower is nice, water pressure was great!
Lanai had a great view of the ocean, pool, and the Iao Valley mountains. So pretty wherever we looked! Property was fairly quiet but we were there the first half of June and travel is just getting back to a little normal, so it may get busier over the rest of summer.
The beach is awesome for walking and goes on forever! It is close enough to the Kihei Canoe Club where visitors can register online ahead of time and walk down the beach on Tue & Th mornings to do a visitor paddle. It was so much fun and the club members are so happy to share their joy!
Coconuts Cafe, with 2 locations in Kihei has to be the BEST value, customer service and amazing food. By Maui standards it is like fast food inexpensive, and honestly, WAY better than some expensive restaurants. Skip The Lahaina Fish Company. Very expensive and food mediocre at best. Even with a great view it was not good. Fleetwoods on Front St in Lahaina has a great happy hour burger and garlic aioli fries. Decent price with a great outside view on the roof. Best burger we’ve ever had!
Stillwell’s Bakery in Wailuku has everything amazing including the most delicious breakfast sandwiches! And the bakery items are to die for!
Marco’s Grill & Deli in Kahului has very good Italian food! Very inexpensive. Great waitress there named Suzanne. We are hooked, and pray they stay in business!
Lava Java coffee is great and friendly, and the bakery next to Ululani’s Shaved Ice right down the road from the condo has homemade coconut syrup for their lattes- so good!
Others mentioned road noise as it’s a corner end unit. We didn’t notice it at all with the fan on and ac at night.
Would stay here again but it’s already booked in June ‘22! 😔

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this condo. It we very clean upon our arrival and had everything we need! We were able to do laundry, cook our own food, and grill! The kitchen and appliances are also very nice. Sugar Beach resort is in a perfect location in Maui. Only 10-15 min from Walmart, Target, and Costco. It also makes it easy to visit Wailea and Kaanapali. It’s in a quiet area with no crowds and noise. This is nice when you want to sit by the ocean and just listen to the waves crashing at night or in the morning. Can’t beat the price either!

Sugar beach resort was an amazing place. Our had a view of the flowering trees, the pond, the pool and the beach! Couldn't ask for anything better. Strategically placed mirror indoors let us enjoy the views of the ocean while we sat inside in the a.c.
Beach chairs, umbrella, towels and beach toys made our adventures to the different beaches more enjoyable. Knowing that we would have a good washing machine helped us pack light.

We just return from a family vacation and we had this unit plus another two, purchased at different times. This time it proved once again that it is best to rent owner managed units. They care and answer when their guests have a question/issue. As for us in unit #202(this unit), the first day we notices that we do not have pool towels(only bath). We called the agency and asked, was promised a call back but never heard from them. So, we had to use bath towels at the pool.
Also, FYI my sister got an ocean from room through Travelocity, nicer unit that this and better price.
The resort is nice and clean, the beach is very small though and rocky in the water. The BBQ grills are nice to have although only part of them worked so you had to go in line.
Location is good, close to lots of shops and restaurants.
All in all, it was ok, I would come back here but I would choose an owner operated unit.

We went to maui for our nieces wedding and enjoyed every minute of our vacation. Liked the area and the condo. Staff at the resort we very friendly helpful with all our inquiries. Loved maui, and would recommend this rental and the resort to everyone.
