The accommodations were excellent! We whale watched right off the balcony. My husband watched 10 whales breach out of the water on Christmas day from our balcony! There is an elevator which was not listed in the listing. We were thankful for it!

Tammy was such an amazing host and made my birthday trip a special experience. The location and view was breathtaking. Being able to snorkel steps outside our door was an incredible experience. The property was clean and spacious for our party. We thoroughly enjoyed the area and eating at the food trucks down the street was awesome!

The condo is very clean and perfect for larger families. The location is great as well (close proximity to shopping and quick dining options)! The lack of A/C was really tough and onsite parking is only for one car. We had to park one of our vehicles several miles up the road on our first night but thankfully the property manager for the condos next door was gracious enough to let us park one of our vehicles on his property after that. This property is right on the ocean but recent construction has left no beach so we really couldn't get in the water but did enjoy watching the sea turtles swimming around as we sat on the balcony. The property management was on holiday during our stay so we had no interaction with them - except for a 30 second interaction to let them know we were leaving when we checked out.

Great to have 3 separate bedrooms with a shared living room. The kids slept downstairs (half bath in the common area). Upstairs ocean-facing bedroom has a great view of the ocean and neighboring islands. The attached balcony is great; kept it closed at night due to ocean sounds. Convenient access to amenities.

Rented 3 condos for ten adults and our 9 grandchildren. It was a return visit after 31 years away. Our grandchildren were in the ocean from sunup to sundown. The condos were clean and nicely updated.

Perfect unit 309 for a family reunion. Nice ocean view better than a lot of hotel rooms. Warm manager on site to help. They even provide you a handbag for you to carry beach towels. And you can go into the beach and ocean directly from the building, not acrossing a street or walk long.

We were very satisfied with the condo and location as well as the checking in and out. Beautiful views. The condo had available some beach chairs, cooler, wagon and some snorkeling gear and beach toys. Small Beach right out front of condo people swimming and snorkeling right out front. Seen several sea turtles there as well. Would highly recommend it.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Makani Sands. We were worried that there wasn’t going to be a beach in front of the condo, but where pleasantly surprised to see the clear blue water, turtles, and SAND. The condo was perfect for a family of 6. The rooms were spacious and clean. There was always a nice breeze which made it ok without the air conditioning. We would love to stay again.

We loved this condo! Amazing views and ocean sounds. Air conditioning or a dehumidifier would make it 5 stars! Small issues: dishwasher does not work properly, and we needed more fans.

This is a great property. We stayed here twice now, in different units. The condos a spacious enough, very home feeling. Everything is clean inside and out and both times the staff were very friendly. It’s way better than a hotel in terms of atmosphere and convenience. Parking is easy and there are plenty of restaurants nearby to choose from. We’ll be back.

VRBO shows 2 twin, 1 queen and 1 king and it has 2 queen and 1 king, Unit is dated and dish washer controls all worn off so you do not know what you are selecting on the washer. TVs are not user friendly at all.

It's a nice place, but lacks regular maintenance. The small kitchen is missing several expected items. There is no ocean access (although there should be) so that was disappointing. More than one (broken) beach chair would have been nice.

We had a great time. The condo was exactly as depicted on line. The view was outstanding; we watched whales and turtles with our breakfast. The property is clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. We did choose to swim at other beaches; this one was small and rocky.

We were extremely pleased with our stay at Makani Sands. The unit we rented (309) was recently updated and was very comfortable for our family of 5. The location of the property is outstanding as you are just a few steps from the ocean and are very close to shopping and restaurants. Additionally, the property manager went over and above to pack and ship our bags home when an unexpected brush fire on the island prevented us from getting back to the condo during our last day in Maui.

We saw turtles pretty much every day and at multiple times. Location was handy for getting around. The place could use a few fix ups; we noticed the cupboards and doors were a bit beat up. Some of the glass around the lanai areas were cracked or broken. But overall this place is excellent - I will come back next time i'm in Maui.

Our family was in awe upon arriving at the townhouse! 2 balconies overlooking the ocean with sea turtles and whales in view, rolling waves and a sea breeze to lull you to sleep at night, we never closed the windows or screen doors. All the comforts of home plus snorkel gear, water shoes, beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards and much more provided. Centrally located to many activities and the office person and grounds manager were wonderful. Would definitely stay here again.

we staied one of the biggest room in makani. At first we couldnt believe we were in so gorgeous room which has beautiful beach view and duplex?? also makani offers every kinds of source for cooking in kitchen. we have loved makani resort :). if we have a one more chance to go to mauii island, there is no doubt to book to the makani again !

Excellent location for whale and turtle watching. Amazing view. Would definitely stay here again. Units are on the smaller side, but we had 6 adults stay comfortably. Pool closed at 9:00pm and BBQ area closed at 10:00pm which was a little early when you are out sight seeing all day.

We had a great time at Makani Sands. The unit was well equipped, and it has a really great view. We wouldn't hesitate to re-book at this location. Only small downside was that the carpet was damp from cleaning for the first few days and the ceiling fan in the master bedroom wasn't working, although they had someone in to fix it after 4 days - so the second half was cooler than the first half.
