What a perfect setting for a fun, relaxing week in Maui. Amazing sunset views every night, the pool at the property was very nice and the private white sand beach was great. The accommodations at the Condo were just as described with no problems with WIFI and Cable TV (ample channels as well). Previous guests had apparently taken the BBQ utensils and Mick promptly delivered me a new set. Kudos to her as well as Myra and Carlin pre-vacation. We will be back!

Overall the property was good. Great location, great view. Kitchen was great and well stocked. Everything was very clean. Overall could use some maintenance. For instance, light bulbs burnt out, spackle on walls that should be painted, bi-fold closet doors out of their tracks. Most concerning was the outlet that kept throwing sparks in the master bedroom. But we very much enjoyed our trip and stay!

Our stay at Kahana Sunset, A6, was amazing. Upon booking, the condo was described as outdated, but it was clean and everything was functional. We had a few minor issues, sleeper sofa springs let go, and it was fixed immediately after contacting the office.
The view from our room was absolutely amazing. Very friendly and efficient staff. The grounds are pristine and the pool was nice.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. We would definitely like to return someday.

Location can’t be beat. Place was clean but very dated. Needs serious upgrades to the bathrooms. Only real complaint was the doors on the entrances. One of the handles on the screen slider to the 1st floor lanai was on the floor when we arrived. No big deal but should be fixed. Also, one of the glass slats on the rear entrance fell off and smashed on the floor with normal use. This must be a common thing as there were spares in a drawer. Don’t let the above keep you from staying here. Place was great and we would stay here again.

The grounds were not well kept. We had last been ar Kahana Sunset in 2009 and it was in worse shape now than it was back then.
The second area for bbqs were completely closed off due to a sink hole. We can understand the importance due to safety as to why it was closed off. However, being the busiest time of stay (Christmas) the resort should have come up with an alternative for clients as it left only 3 working (and i use that term loosely as they did not cook well at all) BBQs to use for the entire resort. There were lineups every night for up to 45 minutes just to cook your dinners.
Our condo A6 was clean but run down. The air conditioner was not working. We were not advised before attending either. Instead, we were left a note to say we had a portable unit in the master bedroom... that did not cool down the entire condo or our kid's room where it was needed most.
We called for maintenance to fix the ac unit but were given a SECOND portable unit for the ground floor a day later. This again did not solve the issue for our kids room.
I turned the breaker off and on for the main unit and it would actually turn on for a few hours and then trip. I called to explain and have someone attend to fix... no result.
This was extremely disappointing.
The washer and dryer were not working properly either. The washer would make a lot of noise and leave the clothes smelling stale. The dryer would take over 4 different cycles to dry the clothes as well.
The owner needs to put some care into their unit as it seems like it is a hands off-dont care situation.
The master bedroom had limited outlets to the point that the owner used a power bar for the tv... and was plugged into a plug that was controlling the light switch. Comical. Again it felt like there was zero care put into the unit.
The bathrooms are out of date and the master shower was dirty etc.
For the amount of money we spent to be back where we were engaged 13 years ago it was extremly upsetting.
We will not be back again and will be passing on the information to family and friends to avoid Kahana Sunset unless it has some time and money invested into it.

The View from the unit is wonderful and there is plenty of parking and easy access to the pools and BBQ areas. The unit is clean and comfortable with plenty of room. Be ready for Stairs. A few minor hiccups upon arrival (missing parking pass, ice maker not working temporarily), and one major issue with the sunshade on the back patio being broken. This limited our ability to enoy the patio and view during the afternoons...a bit disappointing.

This location was perfect for our family vacation to Maui. Having access to the beach and snorkeling, and watching the turtles was is the highlight of the trip. The unit is a little dated, but plenty of room and a few updated appliances. Would definitely stay there again.

Loved it! Stayed here before. Condo is in a great spot for views and sunsets. Property was clean and well kept. The grounds crew were friendly and helpful. Went with some friends who were first timers and they loved it. They are already looking into coming back with their kids, and so are we!!!

We just love the intimate, quiet setting of Kahana Sunset, and it can’t get any better with this ocean front unit! The first thing I noticed was how welcoming and clean it felt. You just can’t avoid roaches in Hawaii, but somehow they have in this unit! It’s a perfect space for 1-2 families. There is a lawn out front for your little ones to roam, and a stair access down to the beach. Turtles swimming in the cove are just 30 feet from the patio. Kahana Sunset has a homey feel, and offers a kiddie pool, deeper pool, BBQs and it’s own beautiful private beach.
Of note, unit does not come with spices or basic cooking goods (noted to be intentional for safety practices) Would be nice if there were coffee filters.

This was our second time at Kahana Sunset. It is a gorgeous location with a private beach, beautiful grounds and amazing sunsets. The groundskeepers do an amazing job and are very friendly. The first time we stayed here we opted for a less expensive condo that was not beachfront. That condo was nicely updated and very clean. This time around we decided we would splurge and get an oceanfront unit. We landed on A6.
The Good: From this unit you can walk out of the living room to the porch. You can sit there and relax while watching whales, boats and sunsets and have easy access to the beach and swimming pool.
The Bad: this condo is tired and dirty. The appliances are really old and the unit overall needs to be updated. Some of the plugs have burn marks on them, which was kind of scary. The worst part was how dirty the condo is. It is in dire need of a deep cleaning. The cupboards and the refrigerator were sticky, frankly, we were pretty grossed out. I wouldn’t be surprised of this if the condo weren’t so expensive. We stayed for two weeks and it was not cheap. It seems like these owners could afford to, at the very least, hire someone to deep clean the place given the amount of money we shelled out for it.
Friends of ours stayed in the units on either side of this one and they were very nicely updated and very clean. I would recommend renting one of them over this one.
Kahana Sunset overall deserves a 5, but the disappointment in A6 drags the rating down to a 3.

We had a great month at Kahana Sunset. We loved our walk out to patio and grass area right out our door and immediate access to our beach for swimming and snorkelling. The grounds are beautiful and well kept.
Our unit A6 is very much in need of some TLC. Our back door is rotting, the washing machine cupboard is rusty and falling apart, we had serious issues with a sink overflowing when both showers were being used. It’s as if the owners haven’t been there for a long time. The kitchen was ill equipped with tiny cups for coffee a lack of utensils and more. This unit could be amazing given its location. It is a 2-3 star unit on a 5

What a joy to be able to return to Maui for my special birthday. The covid airport requirements made things a bit of a challenge but it's an important precaution.
We have stayed at Kahana Sunset several times & enjoy the ocean setting.& friendly folks who like us keep returning. We felt the A6 unit was not as well keep as other units we had rented in the past, The Tfal kitchen pans needed to be replaced as they were very scratched. Towel rack holder came off the upstairs bathroom wall & the awning on the patio had hinge part awry. The landscsping staff were very friendy & helpful.
