This is a very nice property with a great view of the sea! We awoke to a beautiful sunrise every morning. It has everything we need that made our first visit to Kauai one of the best vacations we've ever had. We also felt safe during our stay.

The house was immaculate, generously stocked, and conveniently located where we could enjoy stunning sunsets, visit the giant turtles at their overnight hang-out on Poipu Beach, choose from many restaurants, and walk to the nearby hotel beach. I did not need to contact the hosts for anything (which is more than I can say about the other two places I rented for my three-island Hawaii trip). I would love to stay here again.

We loved our time in the very comfortable space. My family of four (including two teenagers) felt we had all the accommodations we needed. The location is ideal. We were able to walk to Poipu beach, the nearby shopping village and a lovely hiking trail that was past the Grand Hyatt. The kitchen was fully furnished with a large fridge. There were beach chairs and umbrellas in the large walk in closet. It was amazing to see both the sunrise and sunset from this location.

Property was clean. Had everything we needed for the stay. The property is an old building. It could use the addition of an exhaust vent in the bathrooms. Could not find the light switch( if there was any) to the outside terrace.

This property was a great value. Had everything needed for comfort. I was under the impression that the portable A/C unit in living room could be used in master bedroom at night, but that is not the case. We were comfortable with the windows open in the master bedroom and use of ceiling fan at night. The A/C unit in the second bedroom works great.
The property management company was very responsive.
The property itself was undergoing some maintenance on the balconies. It did not affect our use or stay. Just looked a little under construction.
A new housing development is going in next door. Construction noise during the day, but not at night. We were typically out and about during the day, so that did not affect us, but could affect others if staying in the unit during the day.
Overall, this was a perfect location for our needs.

Condo was clean and well appointed. Views were great, pool access was convenient, and location/proximity to Brennecke/Poipu Beach was awesome. The trade winds really do cool the place down…no need for A/C, but there are two units if you decide not to trust nature.
This was out 6th trip to Kauai in the past 5 years. We've stayed in some of the brand new condos in the Poipu area on prior trips; there is no reason to spend the extra $$$ for those options. Sure, Makahuena is relatively dated…but it was very comfortable for us and had everything you need to have a great time in Poipu.

We really enjoyed staying here! It’s in a wonderful location in Poipu, where you can walk to beach, grab lunch, or just to take in beautiful views. The condo is very nice in a serene building. It’s very spacious and has everything you need for staying in or going to the beach. We also appreciated having a washer and dryer! A few other reviews mentioned the construction happening alongside, but it never bothered us during our stay. The only thing to note is it does get pretty warm in the evenings even with the windows open, but that is a small thing with everything else being so great!

This condo is located in a really ideal location in Poipu. You can easily walk to several different beaches and restaurants. The view from the unit of the ocean is beautiful and the breezes off of the water are perfect and really helpful on hot days. The condo building and unit are a bit dated and could use some upgrades, but it was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. They provided beach chairs, umbrellas, and snorkel gear which was wonderful and we used them daily. Overall, this was a great place and we enjoyed our stay!

This was a fantastic property, ideally situated in town that provided a great home base for the trip. The unit is clean, has all the necessary trappings of home and has a peaceful view of the nearby ocean. Our family of 4 was very comfortable and would happily stay here again.

The place was just as described. Plenty of towels, beach gear, toiletries, etc. kitchen was well stocked. Could use a cheese grater. It was windy most of our stay making sitting outside difficult but the last day we were there it was beautiful. People on walking path were not too big of an issue. Great location!

This two bedroom was perfect for our family of four. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub and we enjoyed the view. We saw dolphins whales and sea turtles from the patio! The walk to the point allows a great sunrise, and sunset.

The property is NOT a 4.8 star. The condo had chipped paint on a lot of windows. The floors are very worn. The outside railing had a sign on it saying it was not safe. The entire property was not well maintained. I felt that I way overpaid for this stay. I will not stay here again.

A rare complex where you can see both the sunrise and the sunset, lots of whales during the winter too. There is construction next door that will be going on for a few years as the homes get built. Also, orange plastic fencing appeared one day without notice on our balcony, along with a sign warning about structural issues, not pretty to look at. The walking path is right in front of the balcony but didn’t bother us. Did have some very loud neighbors partying until midnight.

This place rocks!! The kitchen is beyond "Well Stocked"...This is truly a Chef's kitchen! It has everything needed to produce many enjoyable meals. There is an incredible inventory of all items needed to produce and serve 5 star meals! The appliances are great, everything you could ask for in the kitchen is there....including 2 Toasters, Blender, Knives, Tongs, Spices, Skewers, Digital ounce scale, etc.
Everything is included as described in the description.
Several renters have commented unfavorably re: folks walking by the property....In my opinion this is not a problem that warrants negative feedback...it's a foot path about 30 feet away a fence separating the walkers and the property. The fence is visible in the cover photo.
The beds are extremely comfortable, towels soft and the unit spotless!
Note - The pool and jacuzzi were great...the hours are 9am - 9pm. I would have enjoyed them more if they were accessible later in the evening...
The views are incredible!! Whale watching was fantastic!!

This property has a beautiful view of the sunrise! The provided beach equipment was extremely convenient, as well as the starter amenities listed (i.e. soap, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.). The air conditioning unit in the living room does not cool the master bedroom very effectively, but nights were comfortable with the windows open and fan on. I would recommend this property to those visiting the area. I did not experienced any issues during my visit.

The condo was as advertised. It was at a great location near Turtle Beach which was amazing for snorkeling and safe for the kids. At night the turtles come to sleep on the beach- it is a beautiful. The condo is on the 2nd floor and you can hear and see the ocean. Parking is easy.
The condo was cool enough with the breeze that we didn't need the air conditioners although there were several. Since we had the windows open, we could hear people walking right outside on the trail towards Shipwreck beach. That didn't bother us since we were still in Pacific NW time zone but be prepared for a few people who start walking by around 630 am. We feel fortunate that the neighbors above and below were quiet and everyone was indoors by 9 pm but if you don't get so lucky, you may find yourself hearing all of their conversations since their sitting area is literally right outside your window (but below). Honestly though, everyone in the condo area seems very respectful and nice so noise is perhaps never an issue. Wish we would have taken more advantage of the pool which the kids loved.

The condo had a boogie board and some snorkel gear/towels which was a great help. Shampoo and conditioner, as well as a well stocked kitchen and washer/dryer.

Overall I would recommend this property. Million dollar view. For the price I don't think you can get a view of the ocean at this bargain. Mildly dated but comfy bed, great view. The property management was great. Pleasant, professional and works on a dry that was not working well and were verey prompt and courteous. Might recommend a living room blind or curtains between the living room and Lanie......with the waling path just on the other side of the fence at times it felt like a "fish bowl" but overall minimal concerns. Had a great time and yes I would stay here again.

Other than the dishwasher needing to be fixed/replaced (the door is funky and doesn’t like to stay shut), the accommodations were as advertised. The AC works fine in combination with the breeze. Shades are needed in the living room, or don’t advertise it as sleeps six. The master bedroom needs air conditioning it is on sleeper bowl. The air conditioning unit that is in the living room does not work well at all. It is just barely livable. Doors to the balcony do not open and close properly which caused a big problem. The blinds on the side windows to use for privacy two other units don’t come all the way down so there is no privacy in the living room at all. Dryer is not the best.
The whole place is not cleaned. There’s dust and dirt everywhere. Whoever is cleaning this place does a superficial job at best.
Sofas really need to get cleaned, and tell someone to vacuum under the beds.
Safe doesn’t work either.

It did get warm and there was not air-conditioning in the master bedroom however the owner/property manager was very attentive and helped her stay to be much more comfortable.

The unit was nicely located with a nice view of the ocean from the lanai. However, the appliances (washer, dryer and dishwasher) have had their days. About time for them to be replaced. Also, the internet connection was so poor. We tried troubleshooting it per instructions but it didn't help at all. It would also be nice to have centralized a/c because it was pretty warm, thanks for the breeze coming from the ocean.
On a positive note, Kristen was very nice and tried to offer help on the issues we have encountered.

Location-wise, amazing ocean view! The place was clean and nice amenities provided. There was coffee, filters, spices, and welcome macadamia nuts that were a nice touch. We had trouble getting the dishwasher to stay closed and run. Small air conditioning unit in living room. Master bedroom was a little hot with one ceiling fan. Overall a decent place in paradise. Seller was easy to communicate with.

Liked everything about this place (location, decor, view, nice development). We were disappointed that, though the place advertised AC, there was no AC in the master BR. Happened to be particularly warm when we were there so it made for some uncomfortable nights. That said, when we informed the management company, they were very responsive, and for the last few nights provided a temporary solution that made the room feel fine. If not for that, would have been 5 stars.

Great spot to stay when on the south shore of Kauai at Poipu. Easy walk to Shipwreck's Beach, Brennecke's Beach and the lifeguard beaches at Poipu - great swimming and snorkeling. The condo has everything you need for you stay Well equipped kitchen and all the beach gear you'll need - even an umbrella! The salt water swimming pool at the condo complex is a great bonus and a nice place to take a cool oof dip after a day on the beach.

Our family of four including two teenagers enjoyed our 7 day Christmas vacation with the condo as our base camp for daily excursions to many South shore beaches and a few longer day trips to East shore and North Shore. The unit was perfect for our trip with the added bonuses of 2 boogie boards and 4 Tommy Bahama beach chairs. We also watched humpback whales from the lanai each day. Great sunrise view as well out the sliding patio doors to begin each day while getting ready for the beaches. Lots of easy walks from the condo around the point for cliff views and along the waterfront road west to Poipu Beach Park, monk seals, sea turtles, and snorkeling. Two new community gas grills with full sink cleaning station and covered roof for additional home made dinner options. Great location and unit!

We traveled with a 1 year old and a 5 year old and had them share the back bedroom, while we used the front bedroom. We had to move a few things around but overall it was safe and easy to let them both run around, and the pool was a great feature. The location is very walkable to a couple of beaches which was great for working around naps and meals, and the patio was nice to sit on and watch the sunrise over the ocean. The only weirdness was the walking path a few other reviews mentioned, and that there is a large navigational beacon that flashes at night which made stargazing difficult but otherwise wasn't a big deal. I would book this property again!

Great location to explore Poipu and all of Kauai. Weather great on South Shore. Shipwreck Beach is actually about a 20 minute walk but lovely setting to walk especially in the morning. Sunrise right out your deck doors. Great beaches close. Wonderful time here.

The accuracy of the condo listing was exactly as shown! It had everything and more than we were expecting. The layout was perfect for our family of four. The boys used the bedroom with two single beds and we had the master. The closets were enormous. Everything was updated! We thoroughly enjoyed the balcony with the sounds of the ocean crashing the rocks. The condo complex was great too. The boys really enjoyed the pool. It’s one of the best condos that we’ve ever rented. The Poipu area is beautiful and an easy drive to wherever you want to go!

Great condo in a great location. Everything was great with a few exceptions. The condo balcony faces a very popular walking path. On the plus side, the view is amazing. On the negative side there is ALWAYS people on it. That wouldn't be a bad thing if the condo offered blinds for the sliding glass door for privacy. The people walking can always see in and you have zero privacy. My one suggestion would be to install blinds on the sliders so you can have privacy, especially at night.
