Hala Kahiki means Pineapple in Hawaiian and you’ll find this theme and tropical decor, throughout. as well as brand new appliances, all new furniture, paint, and carpet. Hala Kahiki Retreat has everything you need to make it your home base. Complete your home-cooked meal in our fully equipped kitchen or simply savor freshly ground Kona Coffee, tropical drinks or a relaxing cup of tea! You’ll wake up each morning to ocean waves breaking against iconic lava rocks with palm tree views straight from your pillow—all without even leaving the new King bed! Watch seasonal parades, fireworks and festivities right from your lanai.

Grab beach towels and boogie boards, stock the cooler-on-wheels, throw the backpack beach chairs on and after a 10 minute walk arrive at the Kailua Bay Pier. From here charter a snorkeling or whale watching boat, rent a kayak, or simply enjoy a Hawaiian sunset on the beach and go for a swim. In October, this pier is the starting and finishing point of the famous Ironman World Championship!

Owner favorites: Start the day right with authentic Parisian crepes at The Frenchman’s Cafe, or Kona coffee and brunch at Daylight Mind Coffee Company, savor the light and crispy fresh catch fish & chips at Foster’s Kitchen, and don’t miss One Aloha Shave Ice for the area’s best shave ice. We also like Kona Alii because it has a secured entry foyer and 2 elevators.

It was nice having my own parking space since most of Kona’s parking lots are charging fees now. I loved the location and was able to walk to restaurants and the market for fruit. But I must say the unit really really needs some tender, loving care.

We arrived to dirty stained carpets that didn’t look vacuumed, holes in walls and ceilings due to AC install. After a long day of travel we turned down the bed to discover dirty sheets with a lot of hair. We stayed up until midnight doing laundry because the dryer takes 3 cycles to dry which is probably why the cleaners don’t wash the sheets. The property manager was apologetic but we had similar the year before moving bus the holes. The price goes up each year but condition goes down. Love the complex location!

This was a wonderful property. We were in Kona for diving, This was in the perfect location. We were only about 10 minutes from the harbor. The mall is right next to the building, so we could walk out the front door, and go coffee or dining. The only thing I can say negative, would be the living room needs one more panel of drapes. Thank you we loved our stay.

The apartment was clean, kitchen well equipped and the location…. amazing. Overall we had a good place to stay but that place need a bit more attention from the owner. They have to change the carpet ASAP. They have to clean the showers in special the silicone in both showers The toilet paper holder was hanging in one screw, the air conditioning units are connected with all kind of pipes which are visible in the living area. Good size balcony and covered parking spot it’s a big plus. We had a minor incident with the check in process ( they forgot to email me all the information you need for checking in) but after we contacted VRBO representative everything was resolved. I ask them for a late check out ( we left at 4pm instead of 11am) and they were fine with that. Thank you!

The place was kept clean and had a nice pool for the family to enjoy. Parking was excellent at this place as well as the view from our balcony. Close to lots of great restaurants and it’s near the farmers market. We really enjoyed our stay and would be glad to come back!

The Condo is in a great location and overall we had a wonderful stay. The Outside Noise in master B/R required closing windows at 6am, and could also used blinds. SUN is BRIGHT in a.m. Otherwise NO complaints. Some suggestions for improvements are: Getting a cyber/key code locks on building doors in place of having to carry a key. Kitchen could use more and updated utensils & glassware [We bought wine glasses since only a couple mismatched ones were available.] Microwave could use replacement [old and rusting]. Carpet okay but is due cleaning or replacement, or alternate flooring (tile) for a hot/tropical environment. Beach gear needs updated.. Boogie boards small & big ones were worn out & unservicable. Umbrella and chairs appreciated and used daily. Thanks! Suggest having a large Costco Beach wagon; our last Kona condo had one and they offer excellent convenience to haul gear to/from beach. Family room furnished sparsely for such a nice big area, it could use more comfy cozy furniture [pit couch w/recliners] Thanks for a wonderful Hawaiian vacation

Our family and I absolutely loved this property. It was the perfect set up and size for the week for the four of us- two parents, one 18 year old, and one 14 year old. The beach gear was a blessing, and didn't leave our car the entire visit. This location is prime- lots of walking opportunities to local shopping and the farmer's market, and not a far drive to great beaches. The pictures exactly represent the unit, which is much appreciated. I spent almost every evening reading on the lanai while listening to the waves crash- heaven. We would most definitely stay here again!

We travel to Kona 3-4 times per year and have stayed in a different place every time. Eventually we’ll buy our own condo, but this helps us see what’s out there. So far this place has been our favorite. I wish it had A/C for the hottest months, but everything else was great. I loved the location, so close to one of our favorite Kona restaurants (Kai) that opened last year. Kona Ali’i is also right across the street from a small beach with stunning sunsets most every night. Just grab some chairs and chill with a beverage. So nice. The kitchen was small and I’m not a fan of tile countertops, but it was functional and worked fine for us. We left the windows and sliding glass doors open the whole time which kept the air flowing through the condo and made it mostly comfortable. Only minor areas to improve/ distractions - the condo could use some updating (vinyl floors, countertops, etc), but it is comfortable and still nice as is. The furniture layout was a bit awkward. The couch is too far from the TV. We moved the couch closer and made it work. Some nights, like Friday nights, there was music playing at a nearby bar past 10pm. Not the condo’s fault, but without A/C, we had the windows open which made it really easy to hear and no way to turn it down. I was working remotely from the condo for two weeks sticking to the pacific time zone (5-6am Hawaii time work start) so I tried to be in bed before this music would be over. The gate to the beach and shopping area closed at 8pm, which is 2 hours too early. A couple times we had to walk all the way around through the Islander parking lot. Finally the smoke alarm near the kitchen was way too sensitive. It was going off just making scrambled eggs. Aside from these minor distractions we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return or even buy a similar condo in the same plaza!

Exactly as posted, this property holds everything necessary to enjoy a tropical get-away. The balcony with view and sound of the ocean is spectacular. Only downside is the noise level at night.

We didn't realize how isolation decreases our lives. Being with family, getting up early to view an active volcano, snorkeling , seeing the jungle and the desert, the stars were too numerous to count. We all need togetherness so we can respect and be responsible for one another. Isolate us and we become warring islands.

As described. Right in the middle of Kona. Everything is walkable. Here to visit our daughter otherwise you really don’t need a car staying here unless you want to go further out. Be aware that this is in the middle of town so there is street noise. Not a big deal to us. Would stay here again

Everything about our stay was great. The condo had everything we needed, it was very clean (except the carpet, which is stained), the breeze was wonderful, the location was super. It was walking distance to lots of restaurants and shops. Covered parking was a bonus. Definitely recommend this place.

The Kona Alii is a very nice place to stay. Unit 609 has amazing views of the ocean. You have everything you need at this unit. If you want to eat in, there’s a full size kitchen, if not, there’s lots of restaurants around where you’re staying. The pool is really nice and there’s an elevator and security doors, so super safe! I highly recommend Kona Alii and stay at unit 609, it’s the perfect Hawaiian unit.

We spent 2 weeks here and it had everything we needed/expected. The outdoor space was great and the kitchen was stocked with all equipment we needed to cook most meals. We didn't have a car, so the location was great for walking anywhere in the Kailua area, including beaches, and we could also grab a bus a block or two away on Alii Dr. Also handy was the beach towels, chairs, and boogie boards available.
