Waikoloa is a very walkable area. Queen's Marketplace is just across the street and includes a movie theater, grocery store, Starbucks, and plenty of shops and restaurants. Even more shopping and dining options, including A-Bay's grill with the ice bar, are found at the King's Shops just another block away. You'll want to spend at least one sunset at Lava Lava Beach Club where you can drink and dine in the open-air bar or at one of the many tables right on the beach. Just a mile away, you can swim with dolphins at Dolphin Quest, or get a different perspective of the entire island on a Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour less than a mile and a half off the highway.
